Kamerin Moore on the comeback trail

August 31, 2010

Honestly I do not remember a thing about Kamerin Moore’s gymnastics at all (I’ll have to go back and look at some videos) but she seems like a positve kid. She must love gymnastics to go through all of this.

Above is a link to an interview done by the Gymnastics examiner. I must say I am dissappointed that Kamerin won’t be competing with her glasses anymore. That is my one memory of her. (Cute as a button compting with those glasses.lol)

What I missed

August 30, 2010

Alicia Sacramone got a twitter account. Her first gripping update was about her mom, awwwww

You can vote Rebecca Bross for Sportswomen of the year. I really wanted to write something obnoxious here but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. While I won’t be voting for her ( I voted for Yuna Kim) Rebecca Bross has had a pretty decent year so far so if you enjoy bad form and bitch dirty looks that kill go ahead and vote for Becca:)

Just because it wouldn’t be an update if I didn’t steal some information off IG Magazine according to Gym-Style.Com the USA team at the 2010 Pan American Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico will be Kyla Ross, Sabrina Vega, Sarah Finnegan, McKayla Maroney, Brenna Dowell and Gabrielle Douglas. I heard there was an age limit which is why the Woga girls were left off the team.

Kristen Maloney starts work today as the assistant coach for the university of New Hamshire. Kristen is an interesting case. She spent 4 years at UCLA only to return home to go back to school to become a teacher. Then she followed her boyfriend to NY and sold out her home baseball team the Phillies to become a bandwagon Yankee fan. Now she is in New Hamshire teaching them how to dress like baked potatoes.

These are the results for the event Finals at Chinese Nationals. LOVE seeing Jiang Yuyuan second on beam. She is much improved on that event.

Women’s Vault
1. Zhou Qiaohong (Fujian) 14.237
2. Huang Qiushuang (Guangdong) 13.925
3. Yang Pei (Shaanxi) 13.900

Uneven Bars
1. Huang Qiushuang (Guangdong) 15.550
2. Wu Liufang (Guangdong) 14.675
3. Huang Huidan (Zhejiang) 14.500

Balance Beam
1. Sui Lu (Shanghai) 15.550
2. Jiang Yuyuan (Zhejiang) 14.450
3. Wu Liufang (Guangdong) 14.325

Women’s Floor Exercise
1. Sui Lu (Shanghai) 14.550
2. Huang Qiushuang (Guangdong) 13.825
3. Jiang Yuyuan (Zhejiang) 13.700

I don’t subscibe to IG but they are at it again with their newest cover. Kyla Ross won the National title and while her picture is bigger then Ohashi it is obvious who they want featured on the cover. I guess it could be worse they could have put Nastia on the cover. Instead they will just bore you with an interview where she can once again tell us how she is the AA Olympic Champion. She should change her name to Kaylie Cruz.

SuperDawes to save the woooorld. Uzelac comeback?

August 29, 2010

Seriously if it wasn’t for Ingrid ignoring her kids and trolling the internet for articles on gymnastics 24/7 I would never know what is going on in the world of could have beens that never were.

The latest comeback story is of former 3 time US Junior National Champion Kristel Uzelac. After a failed attempt at competing as a senior elite Kristal is trying to relive her glory as a Junior champ and join the world of Kim Zmeskals at failed comeback attempts.

Okay that is mean. I actually liked Kristal as a Junior gymnast and thought she had loads of potential but it just wasn’t meant to be.

Kristal tried College gymnastics and was done before she even started. She also attempted a comeback in 2007 before she got bored and quit so I really wonder what this comeback will turn into.

Kristal was known for difficulty with bad form (she was a Parkette you know) so maybe things will be different now she is training at her own gym.

Kristal is a very nice kid so we here at GTT will wish her the best of luck.

Now I bet if you didn’t read the article you are wondering why I even mentioned Dominique Dawes well she has a few comments in the article. Those comments consist of her acting like she can save the world and make this comeback happen. This is why Dominique Dawes off the competition floor is just as bad as on the competition floor where I am concerned. She has to make everything about her being some kind of positive influence. Like her comments to Kristal will be the difference. Besides Dominique Moceanu I have never seen another gymnast toot their own horn as much as Dawes. Come on now after you read the below comment how could you not agree with me that Dawes is full of %%%%???

“I was a fan of Parkettes”- Dominique Dawes

Jiang Yuyuan leads Chinese Nationals

August 28, 2010

In perhaps the best news I have heard in a long time concerning gymnastics Juang Yuyuan is leading Chinese Nationals.

I meant to post about this earlier in the week when I saw a video of her practicing and hitting beam. She actually looked better on beam then bars in the practice videos.

Here is a link to more videos. I am off to watch the videos and will post a few in a few:)

Camp team named

August 25, 2010

6 of these gymnasts below will be on your world team. I am really glad Amanda Jetter was named. Her double front is the cleanest I have seen in a long time. I would love to see what the world judges did with her.

* Rebecca Bross, Plano, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics
* Mackenzie Caquatto, Naperville, Ill./Legacy Elite Gymnastics
* Chelsea Davis, Lakeway, Texas/Texas Dreams Gymnastics
* Kytra Hunter, Frederick, Md./Hill’s Gymnastics
* Amanda Jetter, Milford, Ohio/Cincinnati Gymnastics
* Mattie Larson, Los Angeles, Calif./All Olympia
* Alexandra Raisman, Needham, Mass./Brestyan’s American Gymnastics
* Alicia Sacramone, Winchester, Mass./Brestyan’s American Gymnastics
* Samantha Shapiro, Los Angeles, Calif./All Olympia
* Bridget Sloan, Pittsboro, Ind./Sharp’s Gymnastics Academy
* Morgan Smith, Clermont, Fla./Brandy Johnson’s Global Gymnastics
* Cassandra Whitcomb, Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Gymnastics

Who is on your world team?

August 21, 2010

Rebecca Bross is a lock. Bridget Sloan is a ?. Mattie Larson had a great Nationals but she is usually inconsistent. So my question for you is who would you choose?

Right now my any guess is just that a guess but the list below is IMO the only gymnasts with a chance.

Rebecca Bross
Bridget Sloan
Aly Raisman
Alicia Sacramone
Mattie Larson
Mackenzie Caquatto
Kytra Hunter
Cassie Whitcomb

With Bross and Sacramone being the only locks I guess it is easier to fill in the team from there.

I know Alicia is a lock but IMO she is someone we should really think seriously about taking to Worlds. With Marta’s way of breaking gymnasts as we go along having Alicia on this team without serious back up could really hurt us in the end. Alicia has not touched floor this year and we know she will never go near a set of uneven bars.

I don’t see Marta ever adding Cassie Whitcomb but I added her because she placed second on bars at Nationals. Caquatto fell or IMO there is no way Marta would even consider Cassie. Cassie also could back up floor due to an injury if needed even with a lower valued routine she is usually pretty clean in her landings.

Kytra Hunter placed forth on floor but she is pretty useless on every other event. If we are taking a one event gymnast I would personally take Sam Shapiro for her floor routine but that isn’t happening either.

So here IMO is the team Marta will pick. Just based on hunch.

Rebecca Bross
Aly Raisman
Alicia Sacramone
Bridget Sloan
Mackenzie Caquatto
Mattie Larson

ALT: Kytra Hunter

Vault: Bross, Raisman, Sacramone
Uneven Bar: Caquatto, Sloan/Larson, Bross
Beam: Raisman, Bross, Sacramone
Floor: Raisman, Larson, Bross

I reserve the right to add Bridget Sloan to the vault, floor and beam line up if she gets healthy.

Do we even need results to know the winner?

Follow this link for routines. Aunt Joyce has them up.

Komova owns day one of Speedy games

August 18, 2010

This is the best I have ever seen her look. She seems to have fixed some of the form issues on bars (not all but some) She still has another yer before she should be peaking. At her age improvement is all we need to see now and she looks better everytime I see her. Her Amanar is kind of scary and IMO the US juniors we had competing them at Nationals looked better on that event but Viktoria has plenty of time to improve even more. Kudos to her for trying to fix her issues.

She still needs to fix her giants on bars, her cow boyed double front and will probably upgrade her beam dismount by 2012.

2010 senior women. Gym moms are nuts

August 15, 2010

Tonight was hilarious. Beside all the matching outfits of parents and their gymnast kids and people that walk around with their credentials because they volenteered 3 days ago I actually saw two sets of gym parents almost get in a brawl. Not one but two.

Hilarious night. Really. I had a lot of fun tonight and none of it had to do with the gymnastics on the floor. When two sets of gym parents almost come to blows over seating and positions for autographs you really have to laugh it off. I hope everyone in section 104 enjoyed the fireworks.

First lets start with all the gymnasts that were in the arena. Right after the meet ends a rush of about 100 girls come crashing down to stand right in front of you. KUDOS to the one security guard who tried to make them sit down. It didn’t work. Not only were the majority of these kids rude little snots but most of them had no problem pushing people out of the way to get better postioning. Not all of them were like that but the one lady that tried to start a fight with one of the junior gymnasts mothers literally was down there with all the 12 year olds.

For the very first time ever I would say Rebecca Bross kind of impressed me. She had this killer look on her face from the second the meet started. You could just tell she wasn’t going to mess this up again. Now Rebecca hitting 8 for 8 must either mean the sky is falling or she is going to fall a part at Worlds.

Mattie Larson’s floor was not as impressive on night two as it was on night one but it was interesting to watch her live. I really think she will be done after this year. Her difficulty leaves a lot to be desired and she isn’t as clean as the scores at Nationals told but overall I think she hit all 8 events too.

Aly Raisman is a very pretty kid in person. She also had a quiet calm about her gymnastics that doesn’t come through on TV. Some relative of hers was sitting in front of me. He kept screaming for Alexandra.

Cassie Whitcomb got the Marta beat down tonight by the judges. It is obvious Marta doesn’t like her for whatever reason. Even MLT looked annoyed after a few of her scores. IMO her floor was docked pretty harsh by the judges.

I don’t even know what to say about Alica Sacramone. I find her on all the time attitude distracting. She also dd very little supporting of the other gymnasts until after floor. I never saw her and Aly talk at all. She did high five Rebecca Bross after floor.

Nastia was in the house doing more hugging. Oh joy. She had on the ugliest ripped jeans I have ever seen. They probably cost her 300 bucks.lol she also had on her trade mark heals and Bridget was making fun of how tall she was compared to her.

For the feel good feeling of the night I over heard Macko and Bridgette Caquatto’s mother talking to another lady about her daughters. She talked about how Macko fell but she got right back up and how proud she was of her. Then she also told the lady about her other daughter who was on the floor . It was just nice how proud she was of both daughters not just the one that did well.

I also saw Mattie Larson wave off her mother and then her mother announced to the arena “Just like a typical teenager”

I am sure I will think of more but that is it for tonight.

2010 US Juniors

August 14, 2010

Kyla Ross won but it looked like they were doing everything possible to give this thing to Ohashi. Sorry but Kyla was 8 for 8 with plenty of difficulty and Ohashi fell like 4 times. 3 at least. It never should have been as close at it was.

Lets see
Kyla nailed her beam set. One slight wobble but the rest was perfect. She also nailed her floor and vault and did a very good bars hitting her handstands from my angle. They really nit picked her bar set and they pretty much nit picked every routine tonight unless you had Ohashi on your back.

Amelia Hundley had a great floor set but I’ll admit I didn’t pay close enough attention to the dance moves to see if she was short.

Nastia was there and the more I see her the more phony I think she is. She walked through the arena two nights stopping to hug EVERY SINGLE PERSON. Not just one or two but EVERY SINGLE PERSON. She even hugged Chris Burdette and he look at her like “Why are you hugging me” The scene went as followed. Nastia nearly ran into Chris and he said hello and she was like “Oh Hi Chris” and she hugged him as he was about to walk away. He had no clue that hug was coming.lol Sorry but the girl is always on for show. She sat and watched half the juniors with Marta and only looked up to see some of the woga kids. Not all but some. Terin Humphrey with bleached blond hair was there also.

Lizzie Laduc is just stunning to see in person. Her father was running around the arena taking pictures but I thought her beam was georgeous minus the fall. The judges love woga but for some reason Lizzie is un-loved by them.

Well that is it for now. I am up loading a few pix to my photobucket.
