Don’t blink or you will miss her. (about 207 in) You can see the mouth, old man and the biggest jackass to ever live on this planet all in 5 minutes but you have to be from Boston to know who I am talking about:)
Aly is also co-Bostonian of the year according to the Globe. Title town was title-less this year unless you count Aly and the other Olympians.
I’ll have to go check the trash for the Globe Magazine from Sundays paper.

Is that pittbull on the end? Lol.
December 24, 2012 at 4:01 AM |
Which end? The left end is an idiot that sat on his ass for two years and then wondered why no one would listen to him and the end on the right is THE douche bag ego that ate New York, Boston, Tampa and Oakland. Oh the nick names I have for him, we would be here awhile:)
December 24, 2012 at 4:09 AM
Lol i was looking at the bald guy with the sunglasses 🙂
December 24, 2012 at 9:45 PM |
That is Terry Francona, ex manager and slacker of my favorite baseball team.
Don’t believe his sap story, he was very much to blame for the spoiled brat 2012 sox falling a aaprt because he refused to do his job. The end
December 24, 2012 at 9:47 PM
He’s rockin a serious beer belly.

merry christmas/happy holidays/happy hanukkah/kwanza/orthodox whatever faith/holiday you celebrate! you’ve all made my year much more interesting with gym news/commentary/even gossip! hope you all have an awesome time 🙂
December 24, 2012 at 3:46 PM |
Same to you Mim!
December 24, 2012 at 9:47 PM |
I second that 🙂
December 24, 2012 at 4:08 PM |
GTT, can you imagine if it was Gabby and not Aly from Boston. Boston media seems to love Aly, I can imagine it would have been much harder to ignore Gabby if they paid her the same attention that Aly is receiving.
December 24, 2012 at 4:51 PM |
Lol. That’s my Christmas wish. May Gabby move to Boston and become Tom Brady’s next wife. That would be GTT gold right there. ; )
December 24, 2012 at 9:20 PM
I don’t know what I ever did to you to make you hate me but it must have been something really really bad to make you want THAT to happen to me.lol
December 24, 2012 at 9:21 PM |
You used to be one of my favorites at this blog too and now, now I don’t know what to do with you:)
December 25, 2012 at 1:09 AM
You know I’m just messin’ with ya!
December 25, 2012 at 4:11 AM
Oh I know.lol
December 24, 2012 at 9:46 PM |
How about we all pray Gabby moves to Guam instead of Boston. 🙂 As for being a wife, she’s a bit too young no?
December 24, 2012 at 9:56 PM
What did Guam do to deserve Gabby?
December 24, 2012 at 11:37 PM
I was more thinking along the lines of sending her somewhere where they can’t understand what she says. And where its very remote. For whatever reason I chose Guam. Plus they don’t have a gymnastics team there do they?
Anyways merry Christmas GTT 🙂
December 25, 2012 at 5:32 AM
What about Mars lol she could totally be the first gymnast to live on Mars like 37million miles away from earth lol
December 25, 2012 at 4:14 AM |
Guam is part of the USA so they probably cant understand her.
December 26, 2012 at 12:24 AM |
so nastia’s off to NYU. on the one hand,
good for her. maybe she won’t be so involved with the gym world anymore and she’ll get to
live a normal life that is fulfilling. on the other hand, i think “get back to me if you actually last four years of college”.. i must admit, i think it’s good she’s doing it, i think shawn should try and follow suit instead of trying to make it in hollywood. stop trying to make hollywood happen shawn, it’s never going to happen!
December 26, 2012 at 2:41 AM |
I agree with you that it would be very, very good for her to get her degree. I think it’ll be funny because almost no one will recognize her. She’s a “celebrity” only in the gymnastics world, a very small world. She’ll probably get pissed that people won’t know she’s the Olympic champion.
December 26, 2012 at 4:34 AM
Echoing Mim’s holiday wishes to everyone. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone. It’s been a great year taking gymnastics and other things with all of you. Looking forward to another great year. And a special thanks to GTT for overseeing it all!
December 26, 2012 at 7:02 AM
Ditto – Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays-
December 26, 2012 at 3:57 PM |
I know right? College would be a much better option for these ladies than trying to “make it” in Hollywood.
I have to wonder if Shawn’s not having an identity crisis right now. She can’t just be a Nike fuel representative forever.
December 26, 2012 at 8:20 PM
Shawn is counting down days on Twitter. “10 more days?” She should enroll at the Univ of Iowa where her boyfriend goes? She could help coach their gymnastics team or something? Saw an ad for Nike Kinect during NBA game yesterday with Shawn sort of shown at the beginning but other current athletes were shown more prominently. Nike is phasing her out!
December 28, 2012 at 2:17 AM
Shawn upload her new website. It may be related.

The reviews are out for gabbys book.
Couch Gymnast gave it a bad review stating there were many inconsistencies.

December 26, 2012 at 6:32 PM |
lol you mean the attempt to make Gabby out to be such an inspiring, iconic figure did not pan out given that all she and her family did was lie to the public?
Gawd I hope she and her family go away. She’s a disgrace to gymnastics given her attitude and entitled ways. Time to pay your dues already, lady.
December 26, 2012 at 8:16 PM
I think there are 2 more books to come from Gabby(ghost author)? OH GOD MAKE IT STOP!!!
December 27, 2012 at 1:24 AM
Haha I love this from Lauren’s review: “HOT MESS is an understatement. But I guess if you’re nine or enjoy people talking about why God loves them more than anyone else in gymnastics/the world, you’ll really enjoy it.”
December 26, 2012 at 9:16 PM |
WHY do they continue to try to stretch the story?? I’ve always said that Gabby’s story is compelling; move away at 14, military dad, only competed one event at worlds and became Olympic Champion less than a year later. That is pretty amazing, but they have to muddle it up with all this extra ‘stuff’
It was the same with Shawn’s damn book. I’ll always remember the ‘I was in 8th place going into floor and I calculated the exact score I needed on floor but it was higher than anything I’ve ever gotten and then I calculated Nastia’s score and it was blah blah….’
Bitch you were in 3rd and got luck that Yang had a really crappy double pike otherwise you would have won bronze.
December 26, 2012 at 10:16 PM
I agree the whole thing was stupid (on the books), but I think Shawn was grossly underscored on her bar set and beam; Nastia grossly overscored on her floor and vault.
Overall I agree with the final result though. If Shawn hadn’t effed up her vault maybe she would have had a fighting chance for gold going into floor.
Yang deserved the bronze overall but got super screwed on bar finals. She deserved at least silver, maybe gold.
December 27, 2012 at 5:43 AM
Shawn was lucky to be competing an amanar when they were so scarce. I think she would have got Nabieva’d if the judges had been watching Jordyn’s and Mckayla’s vaults.
I’m undecided on He and Yang on bars, I think their pirouettes were beautiful and He’s releases (in 2008) were great but I cannot stand their dead hangs and kips. Like, it’s painful for me to watch.
Jordyn, Shawn Aly and Mckayla are by no means great at bars but they have better swing/kips then supposedly the best in the world. I’ve watched Mustafina’s and Beth’s bars from EF multiple times but I’ve only seen He’s once because I don’t really care to watch it again.
December 26, 2012 at 9:42 PM |
Gymnastics coaching had an excerpt from the book. It mentions Gabby being very sick as a child and not being able to process protein and the family sleeping in car. My thoughts were, her father is in the military which means Gabbys mom woul get free health care and housing. Why is the whole family sleeping in a car? Based on the reviews there seems to be a lot of BS. If Gabby is going to write her own memiors she should literally write it herself.
December 27, 2012 at 4:56 AM
The story about them living in a car came up post-Olympics. Now they’re adding the part about Gabby not being able to process protein? The trail of bs gets longer every day, just like she was only doing half the tour? Then she was going straight to the gym when tour was over? Now she’s not going back to gym in 2013? Try as she might, Nike isn’t interested in her! She has no other endorsements lined up! At this point, after 2008, Shawn had several endorsements including a luxury car dealership who gave her a free leased car for 4 yrs in exchange for some appearances at charity events. She also got Nike pretty soon after the Olympics without winning AA? Gabby who???
December 27, 2012 at 12:03 PM |
i want to read it for laughs. her book sounds hilarious!
December 27, 2012 at 1:15 PM
Right? So much comedy.
December 27, 2012 at 4:30 PM
It sounds like it should be classified as fiction. 🙂
December 27, 2012 at 8:13 PM
Im interested in readying it just out of curiosity. I want to know how she paints the other girls on the team. But I refuse to buy it cause I don’t want to contribute to her book sales! HA.
December 28, 2012 at 12:58 AM
I am so not buying her book and giving that cow any cash. Besides how much is the cow mother taking?

This linke (posted above by Sainabou) no longer works:
http://myinnermonoblog.tumblr.com/post/38819405905/got-gabbys-book-for-christmas#notes-container
Did the censors get to it?
December 30, 2012 at 12:20 AM
They might have. I love wordpress sensors. Its the one thing on this blog that works perfectly.
That link doesn’t work for me either.
December 30, 2012 at 12:50 AM
Actually I was thinking more of censors at the Couch Gymnast. The linked worked for awhile and I read the review but now it doesn’t. The Couch Gymnast is a pretty “conventional” blog IMO that usually doesn’t criticize the big name gymnasts. Maybe somebody from USAG got on their case and they took the review down.
December 30, 2012 at 12:58 AM
I remember her complaining once that a parent was mad she left up a comment that wasn’t 100% positive towards her daughter and she took it down.
When your whole blog is about befriending a gymnast I have no use for it. Sorry but that is a personal opinion. That is why I used to like Aunt Joyce because she gave her opinion and that was that but then she befriended Nastia and Tara Lipinski and now everything they do is perfect.
Any chance you remember what the blog said?
December 30, 2012 at 1:21 AM
Any blog that supports Tara Lipinski is dead in the water on my end.
December 30, 2012 at 1:26 AM
Agreed.lol
December 30, 2012 at 1:16 AM
I remember it said it was a very poor quality product from a writing standpoint. Apparently there are typos throughout the book which is amazing. I thought major publishers had proofreaders. It said the book obviously wasn’t written by Gabby, containing prose no 16 year old girl (especially not Gabby) is likely to use, but on the other hand the writer throws in Internet slang (like saying “LOL” a lot) to make it seem like something Gabby would writel. The writer apparently knows next to nothing about gymnastics, making all sorts of factual errors that no one familiar with gymnastics would make (such as getting the names of major gymnastics competitions incorrect). Apparently Gabby barely even read a draft before it was published.
As far as Gabby’s “story” is concern, the review didn’t say much other than it is the typical fluff filled with exaggerations about how tough life was for Gabby and how she overcame all these obstacles. The reviewer mentioned one thing that was pretty funny I thought. At one point Gabby (actually the writer) says, “Unless you’ve been vacationing on Saturn, you would know that my sister taught me how to do my first cartwheel (or something like that).” Of course that statement implies that the vast majority of Americans are infatuated with Gabby and follow her every move. Then again, since she is America’s sweetheart, and has inspired all of America, maybe they do. I guess I am one of the few who would rather spend my time vacationing on Saturn.
December 30, 2012 at 1:23 AM
I didn’t know that about Gabby – and I follow gymnastics. The only thing that sticks out about her sister is that it was her sister that supposedly convinced her mom to put Gabby in gymnastics.
December 30, 2012 at 1:29 AM
Someone asked Gabby after the Olympics how she liked being America’s sweetheart and her answer was something like, Oh I was America’s sweetheart before the Olympics”
She’s an arrogant little twat. The only people I see buying that arrogance are punks.
December 30, 2012 at 2:05 AM
Here is the obnoxious sports guy’s top ten list that features Aly. WordPress won’t let me update

December 30, 2012 at 4:16 PM
I quite like couch gymnast, but i see it as informative rather than a blog with major/”whistleblowing” type opinions. which is why i love this blog!
December 31, 2012 at 5:33 PM
Another funny thing the Couch Gymnast reviewer pointed out was that the book says Gabby looked up at the scoreboard and saw “the final results of the all-around scores: Gabrielle Douglas, 62.232, Viktoria Komova, 15.100. I was in the top spot.” The reviewer said, “OMG I thought their AA scores were so close but there was really like a 47 point difference!!!”
Apparently there are all sorts of ridiculous errors like that in the book. It even misspells Jordyn’s last name (calls her “Weiber”).

GAH this is super adorable. Aly and Kyla talking after beam during TF. It would be cool to find video of TF with no commentary to hear what they are saying throughout the whole thing.

I love this. Wish we could see more interactions like this. I’m kind of mad I can’t go youtube any Olympic coverage…
December 27, 2012 at 8:21 PM |
We already know Aly is a great person, but she spent the day with kids and families in Newtown today. She is a class act.
December 27, 2012 at 9:47 PM |
Love or hate her gymnastics, I think its hard to not like Aly. She comes off as extremely sweet and genuine as opposed to one of her other star teammate who shan’t be named. Further I think her management team is doing a great job in shaping her “image.”
December 28, 2012 at 4:01 PM
aw, aly. she’s a sweetheart.
gotta give some props to her parents too. i found the way they cheered for her in london just absolutely and totally endearing. they just seem like lovely family who really have raised their kids well.
as much as i really like mckayla, im glad aly is getting her fame without, like, actively trying to get it in that same way. im curious as to what aly will do now post-london (not including the teen tour) and in the next few years, she’s the only one of the ff who truly seems up in the air with what’s going to happen next.
