Did yall see the article that Aly will be COMPETING (yes competing and not just attending) the Maccabiah games (like a mini-Olympics for members of the tribe) in the middle of July. Thought it was interesting as shes not training at all now so to be ready to do anything then just seems to be pushing it. Granted as Im pretty sure shell be going up against a bunch of level 9/10s she could probably win with her floor from tour and throwing yurchenko timers.

Aly was supposed to give a talk at her former middle school last Friday but it was postponed due to the weather. She tweeted she was going to be there on Monday, so the paps picked up on that & covered her visit. She looked really nice & definitely in great shape!

GTT, what do you think of Beth’s skating? She seems to me with my complete lack of knowledge to be technically very good and daring, but quite wooden in her routines, some more than others. You can kinda tell she’s thinking ohh shit I hope I don’t mess up sometimes. Not that that’s awful or anything, she hasn’t been skating very long obviously. I expected a raging diatribe about how awful she is on aunt Joyce as they have compared her floor routine to a horse trotting around a paddock before…but never found anything, yet. Anyway, I was really impressed with Beth but I’ve no knowledge of the sport.

She improved as she went along. She isn’t great but all you can ask is that someone takes the advice she was given and listens and she did that.
I think she might have been a better skater than gymnast if she had trained for that sport because it is obvious her gym coach never trained her in dance.

The gymternet is so fickle. A year ago Aly was the little engine that could and while everyone didn’t like her gymnastics they appreciated her work ethic and sportsmanship. And all of a sudden it’s like ‘pick on Aly’ for deciding to do DWTS.
I hate that she got Mark, because I feel the show will try to package her as Shawn 2.0. In fact I’m sure Shawn will be front row and center mugging for the camera every week.
I’m pretty over people who are offended by what teenage girls decide to do with their personal lives after they achieve Olympic glory. If they go back to the gym, great. If they don’t WHO CARES! People act like these girls murdered their cats if they don’t decide to go back to the gym.

I think it’s great she’s doing it if she’s excited about it. Good for her! I mean hell she has another 3 years to get back to the gym; and we all saw from ASac’s comeback that maybe it’s better to wait an extra year and forego a bad-timed injury.
And I agree – if they don’t come back to the gym sure I’m bummed because I like them and I like seeing them compete, but I don’t run their lives nor make their decisions. The sport has such a small window of opportunity and Marta is such a b*tch I can’t blame them for not wanting to come back and put up with that sh*t.

What gets me on this is chelle stack. I mean does marta / liukin put them in a room before hand and say okay these people qualify and these people dont? Getting to say who is / isnt elite qualified and judging thay is powerful. Chelle Stack hates the karolyis too or claims to. I just dont get it but I guess business is business. Why have every possible name there at the ranch? I saw an interview with the 2004 romanian coach who said you start the quad with three times the number you need for a team and two alternates. By the time the olympics hit you have only the best girls and a few alternates left.

I personally don’t think Chellsie is selling out. She is in a difficult position. She is obviously interested in judging and wants to stay involved in elite gymnastics and the only way to do that is to pay her dues and judge at events where Marta is involved. The problem is Marta casts her shadow over everything in elite gymnastics. So you are going to have be associated with Marta in some way – and have her tacit blessing – or you have get out of the sport altogether. Marta won’t be around forever. I’d rather see good people like Chellsie stay in the sport even if they have to keep their mouth shut than leave it to just the scoundrels.

Yeah and Chellsie also has her dad’s business to think about. Maybe when Marta and Bella live out their lives she’ll release a tell-all or something. And then it will be followed by ASac, Shawn, and Nastia will be the Kim Zmeskal type who sits around and refutes all what the other girls say – meanwhile, she’ll be going for running USAG and keeping up with the Marta tradition. Hey we all do it but what we all don’t do is play the victim. Chellsie played the victim and then people tried to help her and she sold their genuine feelings for a judging job.
Don’t get me wrong I understand why she did it. I really do but I think about how hard everyone worked to call out Marta FOR Chellsie and how in the end she cared more about herself it is just annoying but I am pretty sure most of us would do the same thing.

GTT I just have to disagree with you a little here. I don’t remember Chellsie playing the victim that much. Sure she was ticked about what happened to her and said so but she didn’t go on and on about it. Also, I don’t think she asked that people start a petition for reconsideration. She was happy when she learned what her fans were doing for her but it was somebody else’s idea. I signed the petition too but don’t think she owes it to me anybody else to sacrifice her aspirations to be a judge (apparently something she wants to do) by maintaining animosity towards Marta. Now if she starts hobknobbing with Marta and Steve Penney that’s a different story but I haven’t seen that yet.

We can disagree but I say she played the victim. She went on that guys radio show and behind the scenes I heard she was very upset about the petition not being accepted.
I deal with things differently than Chellsie. When I am screwed I don’t play the victim I play the Silent assassin. I guess joining the ranks would be a way and we will see if she does anything but I doubt it.
Chellsie does owe the people that tried to help her something. She owes them honesty. She didn’t ask for the petition to be made but it sure was passed around her gym. I know that for a fact.

Holy hell…Ali was actually pretty charming in those videos. No robot stiffness, no monotone voice, no awkward posture. Yay!! I adore Ali, and am glad to see that she is loosening up some in front of the camera. I may have up watch DWTS this season. Well, not all of it…thank heavens for DVR. I hate when they stretch out reality shows, when we all know the could cut out half the show and we still wouldn’t miss anything. 🙂
