I thought this blog had potential then I kept reading. She loves certain people I don’t and then she starts talking about how hockey is expensive and the last game she went to her team lost and how the fans nearly burned down the city. HA, The Bruins are the 2011 STANLEY CUP Champions. Burn Vancouver burn and that that idiot Rome that tried to kill Horty with you. oh and Luongo, Tim Thomas OWNS you:) Oh and Burrows BITE ME

my thought on the interviews:
– big LOLs about vika saying gabby was “nothing special” at 2011 worlds and being surprised she progressed and won AA in london. because it’s spot on but i love how she is so blunt about it.
– kinds dubious about her “never give up mantra” as she always gives up on beam.
– yay for vika 2016
– i want to just give anastasia grishina a big hug. sounds like she puts a lot of pressure on herself beyond gymnastics.. if she’s also providing financial support to her family in a big way, that’s a lot for a 15 year old.

I agree about the giving up on beam thing. But it’s always harder to carry out the things we say! Even though she claims to have grown up a lot from her Tokyo experience, I’d say based on her London, she’ll still get a bit hotheaded– but who wouldn’t when their nightmare just reoccurred. It’s nice that once she’s calmed down, she realized that there’s no way in hell she’ll give up now.

Dammit Vika! Going into 2011 I was really looking forward to watching her. Then after her silly mistakes, not connecting easy skills, pouting and kind of being a bad competitor I was like “I’m done with you!!”
Then coming into 2012 and after seeing some of her upgrades and watching her kick butt in quals and sort of in TF I was like “Ok, I’m on your side again”
Then after watching her make ANOTHER stupid mistake on vault in AA, then ANOTHER stupid mistake on bars in EF then completely GIVING UP on beam in EF I was like “I’m done with you forever!! You are dead to me!!!!”
Now after reading that, where the interviewer is being a dick and absolutely trying to get Vika to say “I wuz robbbbbed and Jordyn isn’t the real World Champion”, and she just calmly puts blame on herself, I think I might be on her side again? Ugh, I can’t handle this emotional roller coaster.

lol ditto. Just stick to Vika. She’s a bit of a headcase, but still the best AAer of the quad.
I feel like headcases tend to have great gymnastics anyways (ie: Ksenia Afanasyeva, Huang Qiushuang), so screw consistency! (kidding, mostly)

I’ve become a big fan of Vika. I really like that she never took the interviewer’s bait to blame the judges or somebody else for not winning the gold in aa in London. Of all the top gymnasts in London I think she has probably the best chance of being a star in Rio. Her younger-than-her-age body is going to help a lot, plus she is already back in the gym training (unlike her American counterparts). She is an exceptionally beautiful and graceful gymnast IMO. She just needs more toughness and maturity which I think she is gaining.

I like Vika more now with this interview. Even though some of her actions (especially Worlds) made me not want to like her, there’s no denying her beautiful gymnastics. The bummer is that for all that damn potential, I have yet to see her put it all together in one senior meet.
I will always remember her floor during the Olympic AA final as being one of the best floor routines ever in such a tense competition. I liken it to Shawn’s floor in Beijing – even though she basically went in knowing that gold was not even within reach. Vika went out there and there was NO giving up on her part. She wanted to win. You could see it in her eyes. I wish the judges had given it to her, even though Gabby probably deserved the win overall (and yes – if Vika hadn’t landed off the mat in vault, that gold would have been hers). I mean, it’s not like Gabby didn’t profit tremendously from overscoring. She was there in the first place from overscoring. I wanted it to be the Russian’s turn!
Vika came off as a class act in this interview. She never once blamed anyone but herself even though it could have been so easy to do otherwise. Good for her. I hope she and Musty kill it in the next four years, and in Rio…

I love the Musty/Vika combination. Two entirely different body and personality types – Vika, the slim and elegant body and somewhat fragile personality, and Musty, the equally beautiful but strong and tough as nails, with that “get out of my face” way about her. Musty seems to be almost a “big sister” to Vika although in fact Musty is only about three months older.
It’s a little sad that these gymnasts from different countries never seem to have an opportunity to get to know one another, especially when the speak different languages. I wonder if there was any type of a get together at the Olympics where the gymnasts from the different countries could socialize a little? (I kind of doubt it.) I bet McKayla would really hit it off with those two assuming the language barrier could be overcome. Of course she seems to get along with everybody.

I dunno about the Olympics but that have one at the end of Worlds and Euros and many other major competitions. Sort of a like a banquet for all the athletes and coaches to socialize.

I’m kind of doubting it at the Olympics just because I think I read in one of the interviews with the Russian coaches that the Russian team was on a plane going back to Russia only hours after the individual finals ended.

each other beyond knowing a name and a face.
