Alicia avoids half-ass Question, Asian Championships, Shawn Johnsons and stuff I missed while I was working

So the Asian Championships took place and it didn’t include, Shang Chunsong, So I forgot to care….. Japan named their Worlds team in June even though Worlds usually takes place in like October and they left home their WORLD CHAMPION on beam. (It’s like Japan doesn’t like having nice things)… Some no-name, World cups took place…. Anything else? I can’t even come up with a title for this blog.lol Is Gymnastics now just too boring to care about or is there nothing to discuss but why Tasha Schwikert STILL hasn’t called out USA-Gymnastics for hiring Alicia Sacramone?

Speaking of Alicia, she was interviewed and asked about what happened in the car with Mckayla Maroney, (NOT SPECIFICALLY about her telling Maroney to STFU mind you) but she avoided the question completely, and not one, so-called, member of the, “but we care about kids’ mental health” media decided to man up and demand she specifically answer the part about Mckayla Maroney? So is Alicia really a puppet for Valeri Liukin running things behind the scenes? ( I didn’t pay much attention when this happened and now I have to do research, damn it)

The question Alicia was given and the response she gave will be at the end of this blog.

Shawn Johnson interview. I give a cookie to ANYONE who sits through this interview and tells me what she days:)

ALL HALE GYMNASTEA (She wants credit every time I use a video even though her name is on the video:) Asian Championships China won the team event by 10 points. AA: Gold [Zhang Jin] Silver [Tang Xijing] That’s as far as my research can go

AND last but not least, Lilia Akhaimova retired.

Question Alicia was asked and reply given according to Twitter

And why won’t this 2008 team just GO AWAY lol

Teams like the United States 2008 team usually do fade (Look at the 2004 team) but the 08 team is like a Mother In law. You’re stuck with them. It really doesn’t make much sense why they are still around.

GTT, I still have a hard time believing Alicia was GIVEN this position. I just can’t wrap my head around how this was appropriate. Are you suggesting she’s there to be Valerie’s puppet as that the first explanation that I could make sense of.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Why would they put someone with no experience in charge? The puppet thing makes sense

It sounds like she basically side steps the question and gives a programmed response. Kind of like the Marta Era PC interviews with the gymnast were they would all basically say the say exact PC answers.

I understand why she did it. I blame the so called reporters who’s jobs are to push her on a legit answer. Every reporter on that think that didn’t follow up should be called out.

    They should bring these back.

I feel Alicia is playing “there’s no proof so it’s a she said she said situation” and not going into further detail. Also tbh it’s hard to take Maroney serious anymore. I bet what she said happened but, with the way her personality is…it’s just hard to take it all at face value. I am not blind by the fact that Alicia is/was a mean girl tho. I could definitely see this happening. It’s just…Maroney is so hard to take seriously sometimes.

Shawn mentioned a few times about being prescribed adderal for weightloss. I’m not calling anyone a liar, but, have there been other gymnasts who said the same thing? I don’t recall anyone else saying this. Even gymnasts with a similar bodytype to Shawn like Sam Peszek, Aly Raisman, Chellsie Memmel, etc. not fat shaming anyone but they would be targets of the same body shaming Shawn received so wouldn’t they also be given adderal for weightloss? Maybe they were. I just never heard anyone else make mention of this. Not even Mattie Larson who came forward about harsh weight regimes said anything. Shawn just basically explained how she identified as a gymnast for her whole life and it made her fall into depression and she went on the downward spiral of being told what to do in Hollywood and staying relevant and she wasn’t true to herself etc.

It seems like Maroney has been through a lot more then the rest of the victims (though they never came out and said exactly what happened and it’s really none of our business) but there comes a time after living through a tough life that you need to become the adult you are and work through it. She has to be like 25 or 26 right now, right? She has no job but she has to be making money somehow.

Gymnasts today are all about putting their entire lives on social media. That can’t help you heal. I don’t know. I’ve been through my own trauma’s and I woke up one day and learned to deal with it. Hopefully the victims will do the same someday.

I think the reason why the 2008 team is still around is because that was the first Olympic team when social media was up and coming. I don’t recall facebook in 2004 but I definitely had a facebook in 2008.
Personally I don’t want to know what details happened to them. What is public knowledge now is bad enough. This may sound cruel but, I don’t care about these girls THAT MUCH to want to know all the details of their trauma.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I get it, but you can still have empathy for what they went through and not like them as people, and or, gymnasts. You know my thoughts on Gabby but I’ve grown to respect the way she has handled herself since this all was brought into the open. Even if I still feel like her mother blackmailed Penny into an Olympic spot. That is an entire other discussion.
I can also understand how gymnasts like Aly want to make sure it never happens again, and use the media as their platform, even if I feel like you will never be able to deal with your trauma by making it your entire life. There is no way you can heal that way. It’s her decision.

        Yes, this!

There is a new interview with Dominique Dawes someone posted on Reddit.

In this interview, her Miller hatred is in full force, whining about how she wanted to quit during the 2000 Trials but Kelli hill wouldn’t let her. She was 24 in 2000. Hill wouldn’t let her? Who does she think she’s fooling with these lies?

She doesn’t name any names but mentions the people in charge wanting someone else on the team who was, ” injured during the meet” ( Which was obviously Shannon).

I remember watching trials and those judges, controlled by Bela gave Shannon a 9.187 on her floor exercise and a 9.287 on beam. How were those scores indicative of being wanted on this team?

She also sounds completely paranoid that Kelli Hill was conspiring to get control of her living situation; this is how she ended up living with her.

This is kind of cool. The 1996 beam finals without commentary.
