The demise of, The Skating lesson.

For those who don’t know, Dave Lease the co-creator of the Skating lesson has deleted his twitter account used for the show. Apparently a few members of the skating community including a coach allegedly have threatened and intimidated him for reporting the news that John Coughlin had been suspended. Dave had also been sent death threats and recently decided it wasn’t safe to attend US Nationals. There are also rumors that there are other skaters involved in harassing him.

I watched his video with Christine Brennan that he took down where he implied that a skater skating at Nationals was one of the people who filed a report against Coughlin and that this skater has been getting harassed by judges and others because they blame her for reporting him.

Now the rumor that a skater is being harassed for reporting Coughlin is HIGHLY disturbing.

To be honest I am not really a fan of Dave Lease but his videos at the skating lesson were excellent. He is an asshole when it comes to gymnastics ( making fun of Shannon Miller for shaving her head when she had cancer comes to mind. Selling out his morals by accepting an invitation from Nastia to go to lunch then never reporting anything negative about her again…) but NO ONE has a right to send him death threats for simply reporting the facts. That’s all he did. He put a notice on his facebook page that Coughlin had been suspended.

Anyone that wants to do some research on the alleged coach I give you this tweet.

Before I started this blog I had heard from people that certain members of a now differently named gymnastics message board had tried to break into bank accounts of ex members of their board . Ex members they deemed unworthy. They had also spent time trying to get these members fired from their jobs. That is when I decided I wouldn’t be attaching my name or past handle’s of different internet sites to this blog. Looking this situation with Dave makes me know I made the right decision.

It’s crazy enough that no name, fools are sending death threats but to hear that coaches and skaters and judges are harassing him for reporting the facts is down right insane.

If a skater/coach/fan has an issue with Dave’s opinion that is something he has to deal with. He decided to put his name and face out there and that comes with the territory ( Hi Gabby fans. All 3 of you:) but there is no need to sending the man death threats.

I had always thought the skating community loved Dave so I was surprised to hear so many skaters coaches etc… had issues with things he has said. I shouldn’t have been surprised though considering the bull shit I have had to deal with concerning this blog and so called members of the “gymternet” community ( still a stupid nick name for a bunch of adults) but I have always considered us the rebels of the gym world ( mostly because I know for a fact some of my biggest detractors have tried to post here multiple times and that one psycho that makes up lies about me. Hashtag Whatever 🙂 Hypocrisy at it’s best.

Dave seems to have disappeared from the internet but I hope he doesn’t cave to the pressure of this idiot coach and her cohorts and get rid of his vlog for good. Don’t let them win, Dave. You have a right to make these videos.

In other skating news….

Europeans is happening right now…

Two defendants in the trial regarding the murder of Denis Ten have been sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Gracie gold won’t compete at Nationals ( someone finally talked some sense into her )

DAISUKE TAKAHASI HIT A QUAD IN WARM UP of Nationals and it was a thing of beauty.

And some gymnastics rumors sent to me from Gigi from Paul Ziert’s facebook.

Apparently Paul Ziert put this up on his facebook page and then he was called out by someone who thinks he put it up knowing it was untrue just to cause an uproar. God I love people who still have facebook in 2019 🙂 The last one is hilarious because it’s just factual proof that Ziert is bitter he isn’t in the

I prefer the anonymity (minus the one time I accidentally posted from my own blog whoops). It allows for unfiltered discussion without worrying about hurt feeling *insert eye roll on that anyway*.

Criticism happens. Why people get so up in arms about it is beyond me.

Your blog has been a nice respite from the suck up shit all over twitter and IG, which used to be my only forms of gymnastics discussion before I discovered you. That and you share my opinion on She Who Shall Not Be Named 1 & 2.

Please keep being open and honest and anonymous.

50 years from now though, I’ll need to know who you are so I can die happy. 😉

      No problem. 🙂

Hear hear!! I love this blog and the lack of sucking up to gymnasts.

GTT, I think we should all go to dinner in Boston in 50 years, we’ll all be old so we can do the early bird special haha!

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I am pretty sure I’ll be dead in 50 Lets make it 40.

      • Gymbot Says:

Gymbee, I was reading through comments on the last post. To your question:

Yes Simone’s placement at Stuttgart counts towards USA earning an NOC spot. Any US gymnast can contribute.

Only non-worlds contributors can earn a nominative spot through challenge cups (and only Jade via USAGs rules).

Only non-worlds contributors can earn an extra NOC spot via continental championships (Pan American champs 2019) including worlds alternate Ragan Smith.

      • Gymbee Says:

        40 it is haha!!

@Gymbot, thank you, that’s what I figured. Still getting my head around those qualification rules!

    SP Results for ladies

Lots of overscoring but they hit. Alysa is quite the jumper. Hanna has the worst spins I have ever seen and Starr was all over the place. Love the end of Bradie’s program. Miriah was messy and while Amber Glenn hit her jumps her program had no connection whatsoever to the music. It was literally like she wasn’t even skating to it. I like Emmy Ma fine but she is kind of behind everyone else in jumping and even spinning. now I just need to see Ting Cui .

Did anyone else not know worlds will by in Montreal in 2010?

It’s always been my dream to show up there… wearing my Bruins hat 🙂

  6. Gymbot Says:

I’ll be honest, I thought it was really weird you wanted such anonymity but I get it. Plus your references to an older gymnastics chat room or something, that also sounded crazy.

But yeah I totally get it. It’s risk all the others take. Elizabeth Booth closed her site or made it private over issues of privacy and plagiarism. Lauren Hopkins can’t really report negatively on anything and lose her invite to stuff. It’s all real or what not but with bias.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

The funny thing is while I have been around since Lisa’s board ( that was around 94, 95 maybe) I have never used the same name anywhere. I always used different names so it’s not like anyone would know who I was .

      • Gymbot Says:

That’s smart. I also like anonymity in general because people get obsessed. Trolling turns into other malicious, life altering trouble … so it’s not worth it.

    • Savannah Says:

Lauren Hopkins never should have been accredited as a member of the press. She is an unprofessional, coccydynia . One competition in the middle of a meet she was caught literally screaming at Ashton Locklear to bring back her inbars. She should have been banished that very moment. I’ve also heard other stories of her behavior at competitions.

      • Cupquaked Says:

I think she has a degree in English lit or something along those lines. Just because she has a site, doesn’t mean she can call herself a professional. She’s still definitely an amateur “journalist”.

Also pretty sure she used to contribute to this blog at one point, under just Lauren or Lauren H.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

That is a different Lauren. Other Lauren wouldn’t be allowed to post here even if she wanted too.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

And just for clarity sake yes, she has posted here a few times in the past but it was a long time ago.

  7. Gymbot Says:

Wow your disclaimer is so intense and please write that book!

    • Gymbot Says:

I think it would be the most bought gymnastics book

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I don’t even remember wanting to write a book lol What did I say?

      • Gymbot Says:

Lol well it’s in the disclaimer! It’s your blog and if people send you an email, you learned the info contained in the email so it’s all good for a money making gymnastics tell all book.

But yeah you also said you’re cool with secrets if they’re sharing something private

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Oh yeah. I I couldn’t remember what I said but you’re right. The book. I would totally write it 🙂

Didn’t feel like sitting through Tara tonight so I didn’t watch.

  9. Savannah Says:

Screaming at a gymnast for any reason when representing a member of the press is completely unprofessional.

The Skating Lesson has returned to Twitter, Instagram, Facebook. He also changed the YouTube videos back to public.
