I only watched Victoria’s routines. The video has the whole competition. They killed her execution and rightfully so. She is pretty messy

Just got a look at The Couch Gymnastics’ publication regarding the results: http://www.thecouchgymnast.com/2017/04/08/2017-london-world-cup-results-and-recap/. It seems that they have been very strict with execution’s scores, but in general all the scores seems pretty low. I mean, 52.599 for Melnikova is a disaster for the first figure in Russian’s gymnastics right now (I don’t know were Seda is nowadays, but both Melnikova and Spiri are a step away from joining her in whatever exile VR has vanished her).

LOL. You think there is a big black hole somewhere that all the Romania and Russian gymnasts are sent who don’t live up to potential:) I miss Andreea Isarescu. I can’t believe she retired:(

Yeah, I am beginnig to believe it. It must be on Siberia or something. Grishina were there for sure after 2013 and Seda must be there now, because she haven’t been heard of in a while. And I am sure Valentina wanted to send Nabieva there too, but Nab’s balls are bigger than Valentina’s, so she hasn’t allowed it (I love Nabs for it, because I have never been a fan of her gymnastics). Kramarenko, Kurbatova, Alla and Anna Myzdrikova must have been there too. We should call it “Gymsberia” or something like that.

Russia has named its provisional team for Euros: Maria Paseka, Melnikova, Eremina and Kapitonova. Spiri and Seda are officially at Gymsberia. I am surprised about Paseka. I haven’t heard from her in a while and I thought she was still suffering from her back injury. She seemed in a lot of pain at Rio. I thought she was going to retire.

In theory, they said they were trying to present her in as many competitions as she could undertake in order to obtain some experience and get rid of the consistency problems she was having. In my opinion, they were not successful (she was falling down everywhere at London Cup too), but if they are going to rethink their decision, it would be after Europeans, one of the most important meets of the year. And with Romania at the shape we all know and Russia playing the Russian roulette every time a gymnast do her exercise, we could see a lot of new faces in the podium. (But please, I want Lari to win).

GB team for Euros announced: Ellie and Becky Downie, Fragapane, and Georgia Mae-Fenton. Surprisingly, no Tinkler after her bronze. I don’t know why, but the only reason I can think of is injury.

Romania’s team: Catalina Ponor, Larissa Iordache, Olivia Cimpian and Ioana Crisan. Ocolisan was announced as a part of the team first, but is injuried and had to be replaced.

Any else thinking Mihai should have gone to Romania? Sure their bars would still suck but at least Aly could be counted on to hit when needed if needed .

It would have been great. He would have risen their scores in other apparatus as well, because their difficulty in floor and vault is dropping exponentially. Any news on that rumours that said that Bela and Martha were going to Romania after their retirement for USA gymnastics? I don’t think so, but still…

I’m sure Mihai would be a welcome asset anywhere. I think Alexandrov should go to Romania. Plus if Romania were to rise above Russia, it would be just so satisfying a story

It was Jennifer . I believe she is the oldest. She leaves two young kids which is horrible . I am not a big fan of that family in general though I do like the twins but no child deserves to be left motherless at that age. I feel so bad for her children . The family has set up a go fund me page.

Didn’t realize that the NCAA had Spanish gymnasts. Both Silvia and Mariana Colussi competed for Spain.

Didn’t have any idea. I didn’t even think it was a possibility for them to compete at NCAA without being full time in USA at least. I know the Colussi sisters still compete for Spain from time to time. I am very new to the NCAA system. We don’t have anything similar in Europe.

Plenty of international gymnasts compete in NCAA. I think the rules are just that you have to be a full or part time students and not be a pro. This is a list of the ones I know of:
Peng Peng Lee (CAN) and Stella (I forgot her last name, AUS) at UCLA, Maegan Chant (CAN) at Florida, Ivy Lu (CAN) at Minnesota, Maddi Leyden at Arizona, Vivi Babalis (CAN), Jordyn Pedersen (CAN), and Natalie Vaculik (CAN) at Georgia, Aleeza Yu (CAN) at Stanford, Ruby Herrold (GBR) and Shae Zamardi (CAN) at LSU, Leslie Delgado (MEX), India McPeak (NIR), and Laura Mitch (ENG) at Bowling Green, Toni Alicke (GER), Serena Baker (CAN), Riley Cholod (CAN), and Nicole Szabo (ZA) at U of Illinois-Chicago, Madison Copiak (CAN) at U of Washington, and Kaitlyn Hofland (CAN) and Stefanie Merkle (CAN) at Ohio State.
Just to name a few. Those are just from the universities that I know of that have international gymnasts, there’s probably more if you searched through rosters. And I know some of these girls still compete or are on the national teams for their home countries. Since they aren’t in direct competition with USA elites it’s not a problem.

Thank you, Cupquaked! I only knew of non-USA NCAA gymnasts that were from Canada and UK, so I thought they might have some kind of special arrangement. I am glad that NCAA can be a possibility for European gymnasts too.

Courtney McGregor from New Zealand competes for Boise State. Marissa King from GB competed for Florida. Risa Gill from Canada went to Oregon State this season. Next year a German named Pauline will go to UCLA. Love the international presence.
