2017: Seniors.. College Gymnastics: Elites

Before I start i need to post this and just forget I did.lol

( She lands it in this video on hard surface.)

Will we get to see Norah Flatley live up to the potential she had as a junior before injury?

Which junior from last year will make the biggest impact in 2017?

Elena Eremina.  My favorite floor routine of 2016 will be a Senior.. I had read a blog that was well written but I can’t seem to find it anymore so we will settle on the above Montage. I liked the girl from France but overall I see the US dominating again because the rest of the world just doesn’t get it.

College Gymnastics:

There are quite a few interesting gymnasts competing in College this year so we might be following some of that this season. Kyla Ross, Mykayla Skinner, Madison Kocian. Who else?

Full Standings

Will Lexie  Priessman stay healthy all season competing more than bars?

Maggie Nichols will own College Gymnastics in 2017, Yes or No?

Judging by her All Around (39.750) in the win vs Alabama I would go with, yes.

Maggie Nichols: (Floor )(Beam) (Vault)

Brenna Dowell: (Vault)

Lexie Preissman: (Bars)

Lizzy Leduc competed beam only and received a 9.875 ( No Video) Kyla and Maddie compete today (Saturday)

Sabrina Vega competed for Georgia in a loss with two mediocre scores on Beam and Floor.

Sarah Finnegan: (Beam) (Floor)

I just sat through UCLA vs someone and some of Utah vs Michigan. Kocian has the worst form of anyone on any team and got really the only huge gifts I saw from UCLA which is a turn of events. Kyla looked great on bars but had no release move. She looked even better on beam but received  A really low score. Katelyn nearly fell off beam. Mykayla Skinner looked awesome in her meet on beam and floor ( though floor with the hardest routine she had some floor landings that weren’t perfect but she covered them well) She is going to do really well in College and is in amazing shape. I could see her competing Elite again. She did a DTY with a big step.

Kyla Ross: (Vault) (Bars) (Beam)

Mykayla Skinner: (Vault) ( Bars) (Beam) ( Floor)

Madison Kocian:  (Vault) ( Bars) (Beam) ( Floor)

Amelia Hundley: (Vault) ( Bars) (Beam) ( Floor)

Rachel Gowey: (Vault) ( Bars) (Beam) ( Floor)

Will UCLA ever stop being rude and dancing like fools before and after meets? The 8 ball says doubtful. Yes I know College gym is fun fun fun but at last years NCAA’s they were just rude while the other teams were celebrating you know actually winning…College gym is not for me.lol

I hope Lexie is able to stay healthy, but her fall on her last pass had me worried for a second last night!

  2. Rocío Martínez López Says:

I have my heart on Eremina. Her floor is beautilful, but I fear for Russia’s consistency problem. And I am cheering in my heart for Ioana Crisan from Romania. She and Olivia Cimpian turn senior this year and show some promise. I hope they can help Lari, Didi (she is back in training with Jurca, as far as I know) and Cata (who says she is not retiring until Tokyo…if she does that, this would be the first complete quad she competes ever as senior) to improve the state of Romanian’s gymnastics. I understand Romania is ages away from the likes of USA, but not classifying a team for the Olympics or Worlds final it’s just sad.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I haven’t been impressed with Eremina on anything but floor and that was for dancing

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

She can be very good for Russia. Their scores on floor were abysmal this quad, especially after Afan retired. They need more than one floor especialists or with good starting scores. Eremina can fill that void with some upgrades. But, in general, I like her. I don’t think she can get close to USA’s score without great improvements, but I think she can be a great active for Russia next quad.

  3. Ilanchik20 Says:

Maggie getting 39.75 on her first college college meet is all sorts of crazy. Can’t decide if she was overscored but prob.

LSU should slow down before they burn out. Who let Lexie do floor in the first meet? Ugh.

Sabrina Vega!!!!! Love her floor. We need to follow her! And she fought and stayed on beam. Too bad she was the only that could be bothered. Poor Georgia, enough said.

Ucla is super overscored as always.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Maggie was overscored quite a bit but it’s College so get used to it. Kocian was very overscored in her meet. She had so many leg separations. Kyla looked amazing but needs more difficulty. Maddie isn’t going to improve her form at this point. Mykayla looked great on the 3 events of hers I saw. Should be an interesting season for College gym.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

Skinner did awesome, Kyla was low balled on beam and I need to rewatch because I almost think she forgot to do a requirement or something. Kocian didn’t have a high bar release move on her routine either which means NCAA rules changed back to allow you to get a 10.0 start without one or they were both scored out of a 9.9. Hano looked horribly out of shape on floor as did pua hall. I will say Skinner looks like she’s been doing Pilates and almost looks more elite now in terms of line then when she was elite. Brenna looked horribly flat for OU. Finnegan and that one frosh for LSU looked great. This could be LSUs year though, or OU or UCLA but their beam looked horrendously unpolished. Georgia should fire Durante, because that team just looked bad.

  4. SS Says:

It is so nice to see Kyla competing and looking so happy doing it. I’m so glad neither her or Kocian went pro. They don’t have the personalities to get good endorsements but they can thrive in NCAA. I agree Kocian’s form has some issues but I’d be willing to bet she’s still healing from injuries from Rio. It will be interesting to see if her body can handle the rigorous meet schedule of college, or if it was just WOGA and Martha that led to all her injuries.
Maggie was overscored, mostly on beam, but relative to other scores hers weren’t that bad. She’s going to dominate in college.
Mykayla is proving that she just needed a new coach to help her out. 6 weeks with Steve Rybacki and she looked the best she’s ever looked and it seems to be continuing now. Not solid advertising for her former gym though, lol.

    • dianajc99 Says:

I dont think her former gym is really on the elite scene. I would guess more J.O.’s

    • Gymbot Says:

Someone posted here a link to an interview with Kocian where she said she suffered a foot injury at Olympic trials and has decided to compete his year and see that f she needs surgery later. Sounds like a wild plan but she’s probably injured, she was the whole of her senior career

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Interesting about Kocian, but makes me wonder why she then competed all 4 events at Trials when Marta told her to skip vault. Like Kocian knew she needed to seal the deal? I’m guessing. Obviously if she had a foot injury at Trials that would be a concern and put the ball more so in Ashton’s court.

      • Short1 Says:

From what she said in this interview it was a shoulder injury:

      • Mim Says:

On top of that, I saw an article on twitter last week that she was dealing with “fatigue issues” that had “plagued” her all through her elite career that could’t or hadn’t yet been diagnosed..

I still think it was smart doing all 4 events at trials to distinguish herself against Ashton though, particularly if Ashton had been hitting beam consistently.

      • gymnerd Says:

She sure doesn’t sound completely in love with college gym in that IG2 article.

  5. Ilanchik20 Says:

Skinner won a bar title today. Enough said lol.

    • SS Says:

I get why Kocian did all 4 events…she didn’t want to do anything to risk not making the team, especially since Martha has said on many occasions that she’s “fragile.” I’m sure they wanted to prove she was strong and could compete any event if needed, (a luxury Ashton didn’t have, though using a single yurchenko would have been awful it’s better then a zero).

  6. Sainabou Nyang Says:

Tough to to say which of the former elites will rule NCAA this year but there will be a fight for the AA title. Skinner and Maggie are in good shape. Theres something about UCLA that feels like they aren’t all the way there yet to build a strong team just yet.

  7. Melanie Says:

I just can’t enjoy the fake cheering and happiness – god, UCLA is especially bad. Like, Peng Peng Lee biffs her routine (yes, I know she stayed on, but that’s not enough in NCAA), and they go crazy as if she got a 10.0. I chuckle to myself every time I see Kocian go up, because I don’t think NCAA is the right place for her. She’s way too quiet and introverted for this stuff. I think she should go back to elite and try to make it to 2017 Worlds.

Maggie was way overscored on beam, but is definitely cut out for NCAA. But if she was overscored, it’s nothing compared to Skinner on bars. 9.90??? Seriously??? I’m sure it was better than her Red Rocks routine, but that kind of leg form can’t be fixed in a couple weeks. Ugh. She’s another one that seems to be planning her elite return, and with the low depth of vault EFers, she could probably get a Worlds medal.

I really do try to enjoy this college stuff, but it’s so over the top. I’m not a fan of celebrating every single routine as if it was the best thing you ever competed because it takes away from the routines that are actually great.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I agree with you about UCLA. I find them phony and over the top. I wouldn’t be surprised to find Skinner at Worlds. She gets out of school in what, May and doesn’t technically need to be back til January for college gym. Not sure if Utah allows her to start school in January though.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

This made me think of you Melanie. Yeah a back flip. Lets hear the applause

      • Melanie Says:

        Omg. I just can’t.
Btw, you should write a blog about the UCLA choreography. Like the multiple finger-snaps or the THREE different girls who do that weird “walking your fingers down your arm” thing. It first appeared in Ohashi’s last elite floor routine and I guess they’ve decided it’s so awesome they’re going to make every gymnast do it.
Anyone who complains about elite choreography needs to watch some NCAA.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

LOL I have never been a big fan of MS Val’s choreography but this years team is the worst. I liked Katelyn’s last year but I am afraid to see what they do to Kyla.

      • Melanie Says:

Seriously, I know I complain about Skinner’s choreo, but it’s not like she’s really known for her dance anyway. Ms Val is touted as some choreography gym-god, and I’m like, really? This is what everyone is going crazy about???

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Georgia is a mess of the messes this year but Vega’s floor is pretty. I really love it.

  8. Exgymgurl Says:

Need to watch again but I think meals had a no high bar release routine for Florida. Gooey fell bad

    • tennisgrl456 Says:

I don’t think Kyla or Madison do either. They don’t need them for NCAA…shaps/paks count as “releases”

  9. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Simone, Madison Kocian and Aly were yesterday at the Golden Globes!

  10. dianajc99 Says:

So it looks like Nia Dennis is back down to level 10 now.

  11. JAS4 Says:

    Studying for judging maybe?

  12. sanitynmotion Says:

Nice to see Kyla happy to compete – she looks like she has grown so much…yet still does that double layout on bars. I feel like she needs to put back in the double tuck on beam. Why is it that even in college her difficulty is rather low? I felt like at least in college, she could keep what she had in elite and do really well. I guess I just need to give it up. I don’t know much about NCAA anyways.

I find the NCAA competitions gag-worthy to be honest. Too much fake happiness going on. I like elite, where everyone is pissed and walking around with a stick up their arse haha. Until a camera comes around that is.

  13. Mim Says:

I’m still new to NCAA and really only excited to see the former elites. I only know a handful of the former level 10 girls. But I wonder what on earth Mykayla Skinner has done at college, she physically looks more elite than ever. And I actually like her floor even with the cheesy “U” hand gesture at the end. Agree that it is also great to see Kyla looking happy at college. Are they adjusting the bar height for her?

    • tennisgrl456 Says:

I agree, Skinner looks like she’s in the best shape of her life. I’m sure some of it has to do with being away from home for the first time. Some people go away to college and the added freedom + change in lifestyle leads to some not so healthy habits, others really adjust seamlessly.

  14. Exgymgurl Says:

I wish we had video of Stanfords epic meltdown on floor last night, oh yeah EBee didn’t compete floor… I’m wishing she was still elite. And Simone bikes attended the golden globes with Connor Dwyer, (swimmer) but I don’t think they’re dating because they both have the same agent even though it’s their second Instagram pic. Aly went with Shawn johnsons husbands friend Colton underwood. Most surprising since Gabby lives in LA is she didn’t go at all. To the golden globes. Oh and Simone ran up and hugged ohashi in the UCLA team line after her beam routine

    • Aerial Says:

Gabby sucks. Thought the girls looked gorgeous and happy at the Globes. Alys boy is cute. She’s in the Sports Illlustrated swimsuit issue almost naked upside down on a rock. (Read: she looks fabulous.) I’m sure her boyfriend is pretty proud! Haha
I was stunned by the UCLA choreography. It’s a joke, especially be way Miss Val makes it seem like a rite of passage, an other-worldly dance experience to do a life-changing dance session with her. I like Kocian, and despite her regression in form and attack, am happy and impressed with her NCAA coming out party. But her floor sucks and it’s not her fault. Those little hips and wrist shakes thrown in at each corner do not a new performer or style make! Ugh.
I wonder if something’s up with Skinner. She wanted to make that Olympic team more than anything and trained like a crazy person even in Rio. Who goes to college after that and loses significant weight? Also appears she and her boyfriend broke up before she left for school. I’m no huge fan but I hope she’s ok beyond that huge smile and showmanship.

      • SS Says:

I wonder if she’s planning on going back to elite for worlds. With nearly everyone sitting this round out she could legitimately have a chance to win vault or floor. With both Simone and Aly planning to come back it’s probably her last chance to really medal.

      • JAS4 Says:

Depending on who is competing at world’s skinner could even have a shot at an AA medal

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

I agree with JAS4. With everybody taking a rest after Rio and some of the other injuried, several gymnasts who didn’t have a shot in normal circunstances could reach the podium now.

    • Guest Says:

Aly did a kiss with Colton together in public. Isn’t it too fast for just a 3-month relationship?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

No a kiss is not too fast. Spending Christmas with his family and dressing up in matching PJ’s is too fast a kiss is fine. By the way she did dress in matching PJ’s with the boyfriends family.lol

      • Dee2 Says:

        Ewww to the matching PJs!

      • gymtruthteller Says:

It was pretty weird but I always laugh at girls that get their husbands / boyfriens to pose for stuff like this lol

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I think it’s kind of cute. But I’m not really on board with the whole Aly doing a football player thing.

My husband would never wear matching fleece pj’s lol.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I hope you mean Dating lol Aly looks very happy . She’s living the life of course she wants to share it with the world but the entire debate on a guy dressing up in matching outfits with a girl is something I have laughed at for years.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Yes lol. Apparently my phone decided dating should be doing. Stupid autocorrect lol.

I think they are cute. But I really want her to return one more time so hopefully it doesn’t become serious overnight. Yes, I’m selfish, I know, haha.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

He’s her first boyfriend hope she doesn’t marry him after a few months. Later life daters tend to get way too involved.

      • Mim Says:

She’s 22. I agree that it isn’t too fast for public smooching. It’s about time she had some PDA. She looks happy and like she’s enjoying herself, which is great.

  15. Rocío Martínez López Says:

The spanish blog dobleenplancha has published a post with an interview of Catalina Ponor. The original source is in Romanian, but the blog’s author tells us the gist of it. Basically, Cata says that she was going to compete UB at Rio, but that she didn’t do it because it was very dificult to do so without “calleras” (the protection most gymnasts use for their hands when they compete UB and the Romanian doesn’t usually use. I’m sorry but I don’t know the english word for it). She also says that, at the end, her hands were so wounded and she was in so much pain that she had to stop training them. Catalina has also stated that she was going to focus on floor and beam for Euros and that she is thinking about training a second vault to reach the individual final. The post blog doesn’t say when she wants to compete a new vault, but the author says she is surprised about this development, because Catalina has never competed a second vault before. I don’t remember Catalina doing so either; just her DTY for team finals, and, in the last few occasions, a FTY.

    • Rocío Martínez López Says:

      Forgot the link: http://dobleenplancha.blogspot.com.es/2017/01/ponor-se-plantea-un-segundo-salto.html

    • gymtruthteller Says:

She’s full of it. She used training the event to get the edge over Larisa.

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

I agree. The author of the blog also shares this feeling. There was a lot of foul play and shit going around regarding Romania’s spot for Río. And I have my doubts that she is going to compete two vaults in this moment in time after just competing DTY or FTY for almost all their professional life. I wonder what is that about. Does Romania want to present a candidate to all finals in the next Europeans in their country and are pushing the issue because they don’t have any other candidate? I am not sure what is that about.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Its about money kid. It’s always about money. Catalina is a name . She promotes when Romania didn’t suck. Larisa had a few world medals but they ate not Olympic gold. They want everyone to forget about the last 4 years . They sent her to the Olympics hoping her name would give them glory again. She blew it. Not totally hwr fault but she only has herself to blame. It might be mean but after she tried to make Larisa the bad guy she lost any support I might have had for her in the future.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I felt like Rio was deserved after all the inflated scores she got in London to get her to finals. Even in London she really shouldn’t have been in that floor final after missing a pass in Quals. Nobody else would have been given that preferential treatment.

I hope she’s sorry for what she did to Larissa.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

So true. She literally flaked on a pass and they didn’t even care.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

It’s the same as Aliya and the beam acro series

  16. Bess Says:

Ragan I get…Sam not so much. I think the men need new blood for sure

    • gymtruthteller Says:

      Sam again ? Boring.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

They need to stop only promoting the gymnasts under Hilton sponsorship and go get some gymnasts with potential to medal. Forget the AA for this year and send 4 guys with specialties that can medal. They are useless in the AA amd with no team why not build some quality potential event final medalists. Might as well try and make the team look legit. The big names can’t hit when it matters.

  17. Dee2 Says:

Oh no, Geddart is in trouble! Sorry if someone posted this already.

    • Tortuga Says:

I think this is part of why Jordyn stopped training elite back in 2014 and just focused on UCLA.

    • gymnerd Says:

Suing Geddert for not calling the police? Why didn’t the parents themselves call the police? I’m confused.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I agree. No one ever seems to think parents deserve the majority of the responsibility to keep their kids safe.

      • Mim Says:

I agree that parents should be making the right decisions to keep their kids safe, especially if their kids disclose sexual abuse to them, but there is no doubt that Geddert had and still has a duty of care to the kids in his gym. If he hasn’t done his due diligence in reporting inappropriate (even criminal) action, surely there’s potential for at least a civil suit in negligence. That said, I’m not a US lawyer so correct me if I’m wrong anyone, that is how it would work in Aust.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

You are right .Geddert had a responsibility too but parents not going to th he cops are more to blame than anyone.

    • dianajc99 Says:

I wouldn’t think that that would have anything to do with it. I’m pretty sure Nassar was affiliated with Twistars before Jo even started there.

      • Tortuga Says:

He did but I could see Jo and her family not wanting to be involved/ associated with all that drama.

  18. Laura Says:

Anyone have any news on who could be the 2nd American gymnast for the American cup? I’m hoping for Norah Flatley!!

    • Mim Says:

I’m terrible, Ragan is the only senior from the last quad I remember being a good AA-er besides Bailie Key. I hope it is Bailie actually. Is she training elite this season or just staying healthy for Bama? Who else is left who isn’t a new senior… Desiderio, Schild, Gaskins? Can’t see any of them going. Flately would be interesting but she’s been out for so long I’d be super surprised if they gave her this assignment. Would Martha take a chance on a new senior?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Liukin is in charge now. Simone was a new senior 4 years ago

      • Mim Says:

Pffffff I can’t believe I already forgot Martha retired!

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Margarietta Frazier is a 2nd year senior too. / She has been looking good-lots of upgrades. She is Ebbie 2.0.

        Also Jazz.

I think they may keep a first year senior. Riley maybe? Lol

        I want Norah!!!!!

      • G Says:

I know Bailie is trying to get back into elite shape for this competition season but I don’t think she’ll be ready in time for the American Cup, from my understanding, she’s only just begun.
I hope Norah too but I’m thinking they’ll go for someone who hasn’t been injured so recently.

      • tennisgrl456 Says:

It’s not unusual for a first year senior to get a spot. I saw an interview with Jordan Chiles where she says that she thinks her first comp. this year will be in March at the American Cup. My money’s on her.

      • dianajc99 Says:

I think they will decide off of the pre cup camp. could be hurd?

      • Mim Says:

Oooh yes I forgot about Riley and Morgan Hurd. I’d be happy with either gymnast!

      • Exgymgurl Says:

It probably won’t even be Reagan, it will probably be chiles and someone else. Reagan is the only one left over from the “Olympic team” even if she was just an alternate

    • Rocío Martínez López Says:

Wouldn’t it be a good oportunity for a new senior to get a little bit of experience in an international competition? Maybe some new seniors like Chiles or Hurd get it.

  19. Mim Says:

Apparently Musty is with child. Loving this news if it’s true.

  20. Tortuga Says:

It’s shocking but not surprising. I remember that risque Instagram photo in her bath robe with her naked boyfriend (now husband) hugging her from behind. He also mentioned in an interview, that they were going on a nice vacation together once Rio was over. I had a sneaking suspicion that pregnancy might be why they married so quickly after the games but didn’t think about it too much.

    • Rocío Martínez López Says:

She has said in several interviews that she wanted to become a mother, several months before Rio, so I suppose it was more or less planned. Maybe sooner than expected, but I do think it was in her near future plans.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

Who cares? July birth can be earl November conception… Hollie had lilah naddour ver close to nine months after her wedding again though who cares? KHorkinas kids were born with no father identified

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Because where a blog and this is what we discuss .

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

I don’t mind one bit. It’s her bussiness, just guessing. But I don’t think that any woman should feel pressured to marry or “speed things along” just because she has gotten pregnant in this time and age in Europe, and I don’t think it’s Musty case, especially when she had said several times before that she wanted to become a mom and had been with her now husband for a couple of years already (as far as I know). I have to admit that I have some unhealthy curiosity about the paternity of Khorkina’s kid, but just that and it’s her business anyway.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Me paying for people who get knocked up is a huge issue of mine. Welfare as a life long paycheck is another. Unless we are outing some gymnast who wishes to keep their private life a secret this blog is pretty uh open to discussing whatever comes up. I try to not go political but sometimes my big mouth gets ahead of me amd I’m a horrible mixed mess of poltical leanings when it comes to my opinion on all kinds of subjects so no doubt I would end up offending someone but a such as I hate saying this , this is my blog and no one but me gets to decide what is off limits so if people want to discuss or speculate who the father is or when someone got knocked up I have no problem with it. So discuss away. This comment is directed at you but literally has nothing to do with you or what you posted so please don’t feel like I am attacking you. You just happened to be who I directed my comments at amd I don’t feel like typing it all over again in a different place 🙂

  21. Exgymgurl Says:

Skinner got PAC 12 fresh and gymnast of the week. Ahead of Kocian / Ross, so someone noticed Kocian bad execution. I wonder if judges in oklahoma will give her those scores

  22. gymtruthteller Says:

If this is my last blog post blame it on the refs and the Patriots. I might be dead of a heartattack in a few minutes

    • Exgymgurl Says:

      Pats won it’s all good.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

        It was scary.

      • Case Says:

Jeez GTT. Let me tell you the NFL script for this season. Pats vs Packers in the Super Bowl. Ratings. Pats win, again. Zzzzzz.

Boring for the rest of us who have to watch the same teams win all the time. Sick of it to be honest.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

The NFL hates the Patriots. The year after Brady got hurt and we had Matt Cassell lose out on the playoffs by a tie breaker Goodell gave us the toughest schedule of anyone and we didn’t even make the post season that year. Goodell actually wanted the Cowboys to win. He’s BFF with their idiot owner. I get we are hated because we win but the last SB we won by dumb luck and we had not won in 10 years before that. If anything they tried to fix it for Denver and Manning.

      • Case Says:

I’m not convinced Kraft and Goodell aren’t in bed together and that defaltegate wasn’t part of this year’s script. Brady overcomes, blah, blah, blah who gives a f$&@. NFL is the most rigged of any pro sport.

All you have to do is watch New England, Green Bay, Dallas, Pittsburgh or Seattle play any of the non “NFL chosen” teams. The officiating will never go in favor of the other teams. Ever.

Oh Case . You mean this torture I have endured the last 2 years is Goodell made ? You seem upset so I won’t go all Patriot defender on you and I’ll let you rant. I don’t do that for a lot of people so it shows how much I like you 🙂 Remember that in case I change my mind and start ranting . Trust me that when it comes to the red sox I don’t have that much restraint so we sho I lsnt discuss baseball ever again lol

I’m sorry. Just a billion years of frustration over here.

The Pistons won in the 90’s so not a billion but I get you. I know how lucky I am but let me tell you winning is also a curse . Everyone hates you . You have to deal with haters which I am not very good at and don’t get me started on bandwagon fans that make real fans look bad .

So my friend got me season tix to OU gym this season, and we’ve gone to every home meet. Maggie is absolutely rock solid, seems happy and calm and is anchoring the team. Saw her last night against Georgia, and she did well. Vega was great on floor and led Georgia off on beam with a 9.9. Maggie had her ankle wrapped and competed all events except floor – they had her anchoring and she warmed up but ended up changing the roster, so hope she isn’t injured. However, it was the last home meet for seniors so perhaps they were letting them have their last moment in the spotlight. Coach said afterward Maggie wasn’t feeling 100% and didn’t want to risk it at this point in the season.

Was there for the UCLA meet and Kocian’s grip slipped on bars and she fell – the only UCLA fall of the meet. Kyla looked good but slow on bars. Very solid on beam.

Maggie has gotten a 10 on all events except bars throughout the season. Was there for the 10 beam, and she really stuck it. Brenna has been very solid too – although they usually have her in the middle of the lineup. She had a great vault last night, and really stuck the Dowell on floor. OU isn’t as cheesy with their NCAA antics as other teams – very serious faces during warmups, and seem very focused.

Maggie seems very happy and content at OU – still gutted she didn’t go to the Olympics, but think she will excel in NCAA.
