Camp, tour and more

There is a tour video on you tube that I can’t link right now and allegedly camp will start soon. Anything else ?

Nassar is up to 20 complaints with the police starting in 1996 and going up to Septemeber 2015…gross

  2. dianajc99 Says:

    Nastia is at the camp.

    • Uglyfatkid Says:

Of course she is. Now that Daddy Valtrex is running the show we will never get rid of her. She’s the herpes of gymnastics. No matter how much you want it gone, it’s always right there waiting to flare up. #NastiaStillHasHerpes

    • Exgymgurl Says:

She’s probably there to tell them how great dr NASCAR is. With terror Humphrey being ex law enforcement you’d think she’d be the obvious choice.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Just had this awful vision where Nastia will eventually replace her dad when he retires…
Or it will be like how Bela started, then Marta had to take over after Bela started pissing everyone off. But Bela was still THERE.
So like Valerie and Nastia will be running the shit show that is now known as USAG.

Is Bailie Key done with elite? Or is she still recovering from whatever mysterious ailment kept her out of competition this summer? Hmmm. Happy to see Chow’s girls back though!

  7. gymmom2 Says:

Pretty sure Bailie is done and focused on winning everything 10 this year.

  8. Gymnast41 Says:

How convenient for Gabby not to be able to meet the president because of a wisdom teeth surgery lol

    • G Says:

The entire Fierce Five met Obama after London right? Maybe she was like “Been there, done that.” lol

      • Ss Says:

I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt here. Im guessing she wants the money from doing the tour and since this is their longest “break” she scheduled it during this time so she’d miss less. Also, with the weird mouth issues she has had maybe she didn’t have much of a choice.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Well, mouth issues are no fun. I’ve had my share of mine…like 10 oral surgeries no joke. So…there’s that.

And I guess since our Pres is just a “lame duck” this year she feels why bother. Maybe if it were a meet and greet with Hillary or Trump (how interesting).

      • Guest Says:

I believe the absence of Gabby in the recent several public events is not the coincidences. I think she had bad time when hanging together with Final Four.

      • gymnerd Says:

I kind of wonder the same thing, Guest.

  9. Exgymgurl Says:

I think Gabby isn’t getting paid what she thinks she worth by USAG and has fulfilled her commitments to them. I think her Leo line will be dropped and you will see a Laurie Leo line at GK. She is under no obligation to show up to red carpet events, but missing out on the Obamas is something else entirely. I think she’s embarrassed and some of the sponsors bought her repeat AA medalist statements and she didn’t get as much $$ as she wanted to because her endorsements were probably tied to multiple medals. I’m not going to speak to the Nasser thing just I don’t like liukin in charge, forcing his own athletes to compete at camp through diarrhea is not what ai want to see from our national team coordinator.

  10. G Says:

Bailie just officially announced she’s going to Alabama. I’m happy for her.
    I wonder when she’ll start?

  11. Exgymgurl Says:

Yup…. And Peyton is probably following her and then baumann will go somewhere else

  12. Ilanchik20 Says:

It’s official: Bailie goes to Bama

    https://instagram.com/p/BK_n9UYA3AL/

  13. Exgymgurl Says:

Good, Kyla’s found a vault that works with her height. And doesn’t twist for her back. Is this a variant on a podkapaeva ?and it’s a 10.0 right?

  14. Aerial Says:

Major shade at Florida and major public praise for Bama. Can’t just be the decision to release her continuously broken and requiring surgery bestie. What the heck is going on at Florida?? I’m surprised Key wasn’t treated like the star recruit she was. Whether on a break or level 10 or elite, she’s a much more sure bet than other more fragile and lower-ranked elites who are frequently broken.

  15. Lithi Says:

A poster at WWGYM put together a partial list of folks who have liked and/or left supportive messages for Nassar on his FB page since 16 September.

    Nastia Liukin
    Carly Patterson
    Mary Lou Retton
    Mary Lee Tracy
    Lisa Spini
    Rita Wieber
    Cassie Rice
    Annia Hatch
    Briley Casanova
    Bianca Flohr
    Relatives of Ernst and Geddert

    Uggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg…

    • G Says:

Geez. I don’t know what these people are thinking. I mean, I get the inward struggle that must go with having someone you know and trusted outed in this way. I understand that it would be initially really difficult to think the allegations are true when you have known someone so long and haven’t had any issues. BUT, 26 accusers…you can’t deny that. If they really wanted to “show support” or whatever, they should have done it privately because it makes them look so bad to be publicly saying that they think these 26 girls are lying. I would be so pissed if I were one of the victims.

      • Lithi Says:

Exactly. If I was in Valeri’s position I would be furious with Nastia. He’s the new face of US gymnastics with all this crap hanging over it and his kid voices support for a guy who is further dragging it into the gutter with 26 (so far) accusations of molestation.

Yes, Nastia is a grown woman and can have her own opinion but with her being more recognizable than Valeri and with her statement of support some people are going to be like “Well, Nastia’s ok with this perv, guess her dad is too.” This will do him no favors. If Nastia wants to be part of the scene she will need to keep it cute and put it on mute.

      • Gym Obsessed Says:

Gross. That does make them look bad and truly makes me question them.

    • Rocío Martínez López Says:

Semenova and Racea got married yesterday and today and Racea is pregnant.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

It’s their opinion they can support you they like. They can also deal with the consequences ahen they are called out . I not sure why a gymnastics board feels the need to try and start world war 3 over this tho because that is all that list will do. There are all kinds of witch hunts that happen in this world so until the courts figure it out and the truth comes out I not sure what we can or should do about it .

  16. Exgymgurl Says:

Kyla and Kocian will be the first Olympic gold medalists to compete NCAA. Ever.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Silly question, but why did Kocian go to college right away? Guess she wasn’t planning on sticking with elite after the Olympics?

Locklear is though, right? I guess this will give Locklear the opportunity to be the bar specialist, but don’t know if she can hold out for 4 years to make the next Olympic team.

      • Mim Says:

Kocian is 19, got to the level she wanted, is injury prone and apparently super academic. I would have done exactly the same thing (go off to college) rather than put my body through a year or two more than elite. Had she not made the Olympics I think she would have done a Maggie and gone off to college right away. Ashton said she didn’t want to compete NCAA for whatever reason, I have a feeling like she said competing so often in college would take more of a toll on her body than training as an elite specialise.

      • Mim Says:

        *specialist

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Kocian wants to be a pediatrician. UCLA is known for finding grad school scholarships for its marquis athletes as a prestige thing, she might be doing a six year program or something, but she’s very very school minded like Kyla was.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

She also was a senior elite for 4 years –has 3 works gold medals and 2 Olympic medals so she never planned on postponing. Plus with Valery bring the new NT, it would be only a matter time before he broke her shoulders or whatever else. Honestly, she is lucky she never trained with him, given how injury-prone she is. I’m excited to see her and Kyla at NCAA.

Plus I love Locklear–I need to see her beautiful bars some more.

    No Not john john

  18. dianajc99 Says:

    Time 2 retire

  19. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Roxana Popa has been operated of her right knee. So far, the surgery has been successful.

    • Gymbot Says:

Hats great. Does she plan to continue elite/international?

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

As far as I know, yes. The Spanish Gymnastic Federation is counting on her, but she has had very bad luck with her injuries the last couple of years. She has had very serious problems with her elbow and both knees, so I don’t know if her body will hold up. But if she remains healthy, she would try for Tokyo for sure.

  20. Mim Says:

I miss gymnastics. When does the tour end, I feel like it’s been dragging on forever (just based on the snapchats I have seen).

    • Lauren H Says:

The tour lasts until right before Thanksgiving. Agreed, the tour is never ending.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

The tour is long. But amazingly it doesn’t have a stop in Atlanta. The closest is like 1.5 hours away from Atlanta. What’s that about? I thought of going but there is no way I’m driving that far for it lol.

      • Gymnast41 Says:

Right? Like one of the main reasons why I’m not going is that there isn’t one in Atl. A shame cause they’d make a ton of money lol

      • Exgymgurl Says:

They are missing a lot of major cities this year. It’s almost like their venue booker did a horrible job because this tour is much shorter than 2012. They also had the switching Minneapolis / and some other date last weekend. No one does that. The tour hardware and logistics and production value also seems like they copied 2012 but made it with fewer background dancers and more family friendly. There are a lot fewer people on tour this year.

  21. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Musty says she is going to take a year off gymnastics, at least: http://www.wogymnast.com/2016/10/russias-aliya-mustafina-to-take-break.html. The break is not surprising. What surprises me is that she isn’t retiring just yet. I thought that was the plan, considering her injuries. Maybe Russian Federation, knowing how much they depend on her, have talked her into not retairing for good for the time being and see what happens with the juniors, Komova, Melnikova and Seda in the beginning of this quad.

  22. Cupquaked Says:

New FIG and new WTC presidents. So no more Nellie Kim, right????

  23. Exgymgurl Says:

Nellie Kim was put on the executive committee that rules the technical directors. Some Italian lady is head of the WAG tech committee.

  24. Rocío Martínez López Says:

This week was the Romanian National Junior Championship. We have a recap here: http://www.wogymnast.com/2016/10/2016-romanian-junior-nationals-recap.html. Let’s see if I can find any videos, but the AA Junior Champion turns senior in 2017.

  25. Guest Says:

Just notice that Mckayla has deleted her instagram account. 😮

  26. Ilanchik20 Says:

    Gabby drama continues.

  27. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Giulia Steingruber is going to miss 2017 season to recuperate from her injuries and surgeries. The 2017 Worlds were going to be interesting to see who can win with all the most powerful competitors out of comission. I don’t think that Laurie will compete, as with the tour and DWTS she doesn’t seem to be focusing on training. Skinner is still elite, isn’t she? Maybe she or Reagan, but if Larissa and Chusong are ready, it could be their year. In Russia, let’s see what Melnikova Seda and new senior junior world champion Elena Eremina do. But if Larissa or Chusong can snatch gold, it would be so great!

    • Rocío Martínez López Says:

      European champion, sorry

    • Mim Says:

Mykayla is now at Utah, so no elite on the horizon I’m guessing.

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

But is she committed for this season or she can wait for a year or so? The first worlds after Olympics are usually very mild, because of all the post-Olympic retirements, the fact that many gymnasts take months to have surgeries or recuperate or take a year off, like Simone or Aliya. It could be a good year for those who are good gymnasts but are usually overshadow by the outstanding ones. With her scores, she would make the team for sure and could reap one or two medals.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

She’s competing for Utah this season, it’s all over her Twitter

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

So no McKayla for worlds…No Simone, Aly, Gabby, Kocian and I suppose Laurie because I don’t think she will come back to full time trainig for the time being…So following the trials (I am not familiar with this following year’s USA new seniors) the most probable bet for USA would be Ragan, wouldn’t it? In fact, she got a better placement than Gabby, so she would be a better option (taking into account only Trials’ results) than Gabby. Ragan and Hundley. Brenna is in Oklahoma already as far as I know. And maybe Gowey. Jordan Chiles, Morgan Hurd and Deanne Soza are seniors next year, aren’t they?

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Norah and Jazz will be back too. I’m rooting for Norah.

Frazier has been showing some great upgrades as well.

        Locklear will prob go too.

      • Mim Says:

Hundley and Gowey are both retired and freshman at Florida.

I’m guessing Laurie will be competing next year, along with Ragan and the other current seniors like Locklear, Desiderio, Schild, Sydney Johnson-Scharpf, Gaskins and fingers crossed Flatley.. maybe Bailie (wishful thinking!). And yes a bunch of new seniors, including Soza, Chiles, Hurd, McCusker, Arenas plus a handful more I think.

Simone appears to still be in great shape but I can’t see her training with anyone but Aimee, nor can I see her moving to Florida now that she has the freedom to hang out with her friends and family in Texas. Sigh. It will be exciting without her but I will miss her competing, even if she’s only away for a short time.

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

Thought Locklear was going to retire, honestly… Was hoping to see more of Gowey, didn’t know she and Hundley retired already. I don’t think Simone is going to come back. I mean, she won everything under the sun and then some and gymnastics demands a lot of sacrifices…I would understand if she wanted to experience new things, go to the uni and such…In any case, USA has a lot of girls to choose…if Valeri doesn’t break them.

      • Aerial Says:

It will be exciting to see this next world team develop (though non-team event years are always a bit of a bummer, but still.) Such great opportunity with possibly 100% of Olympians not attending. I am betting in Locklear and Smith, and am so hopeful for Flatley. She has grown a ton and I hope has been adjusting to it plus injury okay. Hernandez would be a treat and it will be interesting to see her choices in the new year.

    • Lauren H Says:

Laurie will definitely compete next year. Her endorsements count on it. Among all current elites, that AA title is hers to lose.

      • Ss Says:

I seriously could see Simone compete at ’17 worlds. She’s doing double layouts, double doubles, her bars dismount, all on crappy equipment on tour. I feel like she’s so super human that she could seriously train for a few months and be ready to go.

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

I don’t think Simone will compete next year. Not because she couldn’t (she totally can) but as far as I know she is taking a break and before the Olympics she said that she would retire is she had a successful competition.Maybe she won’t retire after all, but I think she would take a break for sure. As for Laurie…with all the compromises she has (DWTS, the tour, other publicity consideration…) I don’t see her returning to full training any time soon and her endorsement can hold as long as she stays relevant. If she competes, she is a great contender for the AA title, but if Larissa is at her best again, I think she can beat her. And I won’t dismiss Chusong as silver/bronze and Eremina is turning senior next year, She has a really good stuff if the Rodionenkos don’t break her.

  28. Aerial Says:

Kittia is terrifying, starting with her name. That drama last summer with her present but in the stands was bizarre.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

That’s just outta nowhere. I have to I really feel sorry for Gabby and won’t be making fun of her anymore.

      • Aerial Says:

I didn’t mention Gabby nor make fun of her?? This was misplaced but meant to follow the above post re: Kittia wanting Gabbys coach gone.

    • dianajc99 Says:

Can’t blame her, her rep got seriously tarnished by gabby.

      • gymnerd Says:

As far as I’m concerned, though, Kittia saved Gabby’s career. It may not have ended up working out between them, but it sounds like she was the only coach/gym willing to take Gabby on. Rumors swirled that Gabby was turned down by several other gyms….

      • Exgymgurl Says:

I think the plan all along was for her to go with coach Christian, she worked out with him at wallers gym in Los angeles

  29. Case Says:

Karolyi’s are getting sued now too. Going to be interesting.

    http://www.espn.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/17896649/former-national-team-gymnast-alleges-abuse-doctor-karolyis

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Wow this is pretty substantial. I feel like the Karolyis are being included for the sake of coming to a settlement. But obviously Nassar is in deep doo doo and there really needs to be an investigation into this. The accusations are awful.

    • Melanie Says:

Man, depending on the accuracy of the information (which seems to be different across various news sources), this is either Mattie Larson or Samantha Shapiro. The exact dates of their time on the national teams isn’t clear, but both are about the right age (23/24) and are residing in California. And coached by Galina and Artur, of course. I wonder if McKayla Maroney will have anything to say about this.

      • Gymbee Says:

Oh my god this is horrible.
IndyStar mentions she was a world team member in 2010.

I don’t want to write who that is, but that’s easy to find out. Poor girl.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Yikes. Now it makes sense too that the Karolyis would be implicated. Didn’t this person get a lot of flack from Marta about her performance? She never came back after that Worlds from what I remember. What a disgrace to the sport.

      • Mim Says:

It’s very easy to figure out who filed and probably explains a lot of the “headcasing” that went on back in the day (although I probably wouldn’t name any names outright no matter how obvious but it’s not my blog, so I guess it is whatever GTT is comfortable with). Either way, it is terrible but props to her for coming forward if she is indeed a victim.

Naming Arthur and Galina is telling, seems to align with McKayla’s experience working with them. You do have to wonder how many coaches turned a blind eye to this for the sake of their gymnast getting glory.

I think unfortunately this is still just the tip of the iceberg for Nassar. Shit will hit the fan in a very big way if any of the girls from the 2012-16 quad come forward with similar allegations.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

It says plaintiff was a world team member…. This is so sad. Makes me wonder about bross and brenna falling apart.

      • Short1 Says:

@Exgymgurl I was wondering the same thing.

On a general level (and I’m not pointing fingers at anyone or any comments in particular) I feel like this is a prime example of why it’s important to try to be careful when it comes to calling someone or a particular performance as a ‘head-case,’ or sending a lot of hate their way for a poor performance. Because you never know what they may be going through/dealing with.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Honestly I’m completely done bagging on any of them. Except Marta, Bela, and daddywogabucks. Valero is the same making wofford go back to competing at camp with diarrhea. Totally not acceptable. I don’t know, but I think the next names that come out in this won’t surprise anyone. I’m concerned about gabby though as her coach was sporting a shiny new Rolex in an Instagram pic. Everyone around her uses her. It’s sad

      • Aerial Says:

I’d love to see parents step up and feel they have a right to, as we move forward and with a new leader in Valeri. Very young children (developmental team members) thru the senior athletes go there with only their coach and I know do attend aspects of camp at times without coach supervision (ie. treatments.) And we know some coaches are jack-a’s anyhow – or end up being so. Reading all this and hearing what many of the girls who have lived through it have to say – I’d want to know what USA Gymnastics (and especially after all those leaked emails and letters proving they turn a blind eye to abuse) is going to do to assure parents of their child’s safety. (Nothing?) Minors can’t work without a parent or guardian supervising them 100% of the time… I know the Ranch would never want the parents peering in thru windows but is being 2016 and the history coming out making it necessary??

    • dianajc99 Says:

Ive been saying it for years.. It’s time to let the ranch go..It is to in the middle of no wear. We can afford to build a state of the art gym the world would drool at in san diego at the USOC.

      • gymnerd Says:

        We need a “Like” button.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

There’s something to be said for training away from the big cities. The guys use the Colorado Springs facility and that doesn’t work for them. Moving the national team out of deva didn’t work for Romania either. The Russians train in round lake, the Chinese have their training tightly controlled. You couldn’t tightly control in San diego

      • Exgymgurl Says:

That’s the other reason you can’t train in California. A lot of these girls are underage, and would need school while at camp and a guardian along with a coach there in California. In Texas laws are very different for minors

      • dianajc99 Says:

I didn’t know that about CA..and I live here. maybe that wouldn’t be a bad thing to have a guardian/school at camp.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

child labor laws are much stricter in California because of children in the entertainment industry. At some point people would say because a stipend is paid, that these athletes are basically employees of USA gymnastics. Anyone remember Mihai saying Aly was at a disadvantage because MA law prevented her from training as many hours (for bars) when she was in school as the girls in Texas could? We see the fun and the breaks at camp but does anyone know how much actual training conditioning, and gymnastics is done? How many hours in a day? Yeah, because no breaks are mandated in TX no set amount of school etc. you can’t even be onset at a photo shoot as a minor in CA without an appointed guardian or parent present to protect you.

      • SS Says:

Honestly, they need a guardian there, and it needs to be someone outside of USAG. The coaches are supposed to act as guardian, but when their positions are also decided by Martha (or now Valeri) it’s a conflict of interest to stand up. Some coaches can, like Aimee B, because Simone is such a star they weren’t going to risk anything that might cause her to leave, but it’s a totally different ball game with bubble athletes. And frankly, bubble athletes tend to be more at risk in these sorts of situations anyways because the abuser tends to use that as a grooming tool. It is disgusting that USAG isn’t addressing these allegations. Steve Penny needs to go.

Gander Memorial Cup will be on November 2. Melnikova and Eythora are listed as participants. They will be on the Swiss Cup too: http://www.wogymnast.com/2016/10/official-participants-to-gander.html

  32. Rocío Martínez López Says:

The scandal has appeared today in the two most important general newspapers in Spain. Yesterday it appeared in front page here in Germany too. Word is spreading and it is presenting USAG as a horrible institution. http://www.elmundo.es/deportes/2016/10/28/58139111ca4741fc478b45a7.html

Jas that’s Russian gymnastics from 1992 to present love that pic. Ours would be Shannon, Carly, Shawn, Nastia, Gabby, Aly, Simone. I think that’s all of our individual gold medalists…. Not counting teams…
