You guys, we are going to have such withdrawal after tomorrow.

    I’m sad already.

But at the same time I just hope the next quad shows a little more dominance from other countries…

    • Mim Says:

Tell me about, major withdrawals! Another quad almost done and dusted. Where has the time gone?

    • gymtruthteller Says:

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/video/why-madison-kocian-deserved-uneven-005155535.html. someone with no time on their hands and a strong stomach want to watch this video and tell me what Shawn says ? I just can’t.
What is with some Americans and this idea that if they dont win gold they were robbed ?

      • Gymnast41 Says:

Shawn’s overly pro-USA comments are disgusting, and she sounds like a 4-year fan instead of an experienced gymnast that knows fair scores from not from a technical standpoint. She would fit right in at NBC lol

      • dianajc99 Says:

At least she calls out her Bias..

      • dianajc99 Says:

pretty dumb if she dosen’t know its a random draw for finals?

      • JK Says:

The amount of respect I have for Shawn has significantly decreased over the last couple days. Whining and complaining that the judging is unfair because the Americans didn’t win gold is so arrogant and childish. Guess she learned a couple things during her stint on The Apprentice lol.

Aliya deserved to win over Kocian. Sanne deserved to win over Laurie. Even the terrible trio at NBC didn’t cry foul that the Americans were robbed during both bars and beam finals, and that’s saying something.

      • Guest Says:

I think it is about political correctness. Musty is Russian and you know there are so many nonsense Russia-phobia American and she just tried to play the save card for comforting those people.

At least she praised both girls did beautiful routines and didn’t say anything disrespectful to athletes. She also admitted she is biased and like Kocian’s more. But I agree she had better not do such things and it is not helpful of her reputation in the gymworld.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Not me. I got what I wanted for the most part and I am just over it all. I’ll be glad when 2016 is in the books.

  2. KG Says:

While I will be sad to see Aly go, I will be glad to (knock on everything wood) see gabby go.

It will be sort of sad to see Simone go (unless she comes back), but it might be more interesting to see the U.S. Have to actually try for the golds.

I’m also curious to see how the U.S. does post Marta. I think the coming quad will be more interesting at least.

    • tennisgrl456 Says:

I think Simone will do something similar to Aly/Gabby. I know she said in an interview a couple of years ago that she would retire once her time was done and give the younger girls their time to shine but I could see her taking a much deserved break and making a comeback for the 2019 Worlds. It looks like she is done growing, she has never had a major injury, and she has the kind of body that the ever increasing requirements of gymnastics really requires (strong but not at the expense of flexibility). I don’t think she’d face the same issues that Gabby/Kyla did with a dramatically different body.

I don’t think much will change post- Marta. She built up the system that the US has to produce teams that can absolutely decimate the competition…why would anyone screw with that?

      • KG Says:

No I agree that whomever takes over will keep the system in place of course, but the amount of “respect” (read that as about 78% fear/power) Marta commanded versus the new person/people will be different. Will Valeri or Rhonda have the same feel as Marta? Definitely not. I think coaches will question the new leaders more than they did with Marta. If they say “don’t train a harder vault”, will the coaches and gymnasts just blindly go with that as they would have and did with Marta? We will see.

I also think Penny will have even more power now, which I don’t think will be a good thing. More Penny means more Gabby/Nastia/type shenanigans.

      • allie Says:

I dunno… if it’s Valeri, he can be TERRIFYING. And if he wields the power to keep you out of major competitions…. I think coaches would listen. Don’t know enough about Rhonda to weigh in there.

      • Guest Says:

No way Valeri should take Marta’s position. Look at Bross and Ohashi who were over-trained and destroyed by him.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

He tried to turn them into Nastia clones and it ruined them esp Ohashi who didn’t have the shoulder flexibility to be Nastia the code whore on bars.

  3. dianajc99 Says:

As far as having to coach fall brings in a lot of little Simones, Aly’s who want to be great, not realizing It’s a sport and U have to work on your strength for it. And many many Irate parents who complain when there is no class’ for there kids..#cantbuildabiggergym #notenoughcoaches

Plus side we have an EPIC post Olympics NCAA season to look forward to.

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

I cannot wait for Kyla NCAA debut! And Maggie.

      • tennisgrl456 Says:

Same! And after this year I’m also super excited to see Amelia. I think that she’s going to be absolutely incredible in college gym.

      • H Says:

I am also curious about Keys, Jazzy and Norah, and the new group of seniors. I think Simone comes back after a very well deserved break.

      • tennisgrl456 Says:

This incoming group of new seniors is going to be a lot bigger than the group that came in in 2013. We’ll have Shania Adams, Jordan Chiles, Morgan Hurd, Riley McCusker, and Trinity Thomas from the current junior national team, plus a 5-6 more who didn’t make the NT cut but could very well be upping their game as they know they are stepping into the senior ranks. Add them to Key, Foberg, Hernandez, Smith, Locklear, Flatley, and Nguyen and it’s going to be an intense competition to make the 4 person post-world’s team.

  4. dianajc99 Says:

And we can dispute all 3

  5. lovelucas Says:

ugh – Today Show..Natalie is milking this for all it’s worth and succeeding..; “Gabby is so hurt and devastated. She’s the most giving and loving person and to have to deal with all this hatred……” and they’re buying it. NBC – all media have now turned this into the Olympics of poor pitiful Gabby. At the expense of – well, honesty, truth and the neglect of the rest of the team including Simone and Laurie’s medal winning performances on Beam. Hell – they didn’t even mention it in the 2 hours I watched other than medal count. Hate to say this but her sponsors are now probably returning to benefit from the sympathy vote. and there’s a hashtag for that – something like #love for gabby. BARF!

    • dianajc99 Says:

I haven’t watched the today show or any Costas interviews this Olympics..Just not in the mood these games!!

    • Gymbee Says:

It baffles me how people like her never question themselves. If they see they’re the only person with negative press and comments directed towards them, and not any of the other girls, at what point do they ask themselves whether maybe the problem is with THEM?

  6. Mim Says:

I think I need to delete twitter.. I’m so sick of reading about Gabby and how ridiculous it seems to have made many gym fans (not you guys but the people who are on twitter). I’m sick of seeing people tweet really horrible and unfair stuff about her like her hair, I’m sick of seeing people then defend Gabby blindly and call everyone who doesn’t stan her racist and a bully (especially directed at the people who call her out on things that are fair), I’m sick of seeing people whinge that people defending Gabby shouldn’t have ever said anything about Nastia or the Belo-American (even the fair criticism!), I’m sick of the people who go on and on and on about being sick of all of said discussions and yet continue to weigh in on everything and continue to talk about it to death! It’s doing my head in. Ugh.

    • Mim Says:

Another caveat: I think all Gabby discussions here have been totally reasonable but I just can’t believe how people seem to want to talk about her more than gymnastics itself! Rant over otherwise I will be one of the people I am ranting about.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

What did Gabby day about Nastia and Bela ?

      • Mim Says:

The fans defending Gabby against bullying are being accused of being hypocrites by other fans for criticising Nastia in 2012 trials and criticising Kylie Dickson for winning the Belorussian spot for Worlds and Olympics. Then the Gabby apologists justifying why criticising Nastia or Kylie is different to what’s happened to Gabby. People getting all on their high horse and blabbing on self-righteously then backtracking left, right and centre. It’s like, okay, you’ve said your bit now on your Twitter so get over it already? However anyone interprets comments about Gabby’s behaviour, or any other gymnast for that matter, it’s like, let’s all agree bullying is not cool, the end. Blah. I’m just old and grumpy!

    • dianajc99 Says:

Is it me or in this country having a negative “opinion” of someone now considered bullying?

      • tulip Says:

        Yes. And disagreeing is hating.

We’ve created a society of wusses. It’s only going to get worse too.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

It’s because of the way kids are being raised nowadays. Everyone is told they are perfect and parents over-coddle their kids. If their kid has an issue or problem the parents freak out and solve it. Even my friends who are now high school teachers scratch their heads at the way high schoolers are. If they are having issues the parents contact the teachers, not the kids. Bad grade? The parent resolves it, or tries to. Then if they can’t get past the teacher the parent will whine to the Principal.
So basically kids are going to college having had everything done for them, not knowing basic skills when it comes to problem-solving, and then not being able to cope with new environments or new tasks or even new ideas. Over-coddled. Always told they are above average when truth is, 50% are below average (bell curve, people). If they don’t like someone else’s opinion, they’ve been taught to paste a label to it to shut the other person up.

Calling Gabby out for poor sportsmanship? I guess we’re all racist.

Calling Nastia out for the same thing? We’re just assholes.

        Ok, whatever.

And yes it will totally get worse. We’re becoming the age of Wall-ie (or Wally?) – where everyone is turning into a blob poised behind a screen of some sort.

  7. JAS4 Says:

I think I read about them along time ago but it is so sad and awful what happened to the 1928 Gold medal Dutch team

  8. Rocío Martínez López Says:

In other things, Cata says she is going to try for Tokyo 2020. https://www.facebook.com/cataponor/photos/a.130620203794427.1073741828.130366367153144/526999817489795/?type=3

    • KG Says:

ugh. You know, I never had anything against her until this Olympics, but seeing how she tricked and screwed over Larissa really sat wrong with me.

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

I like her gymnastics and her guts, but the Larissa situation has been so bad managed… I do think that she made that statements about she doing AA and released her videos of training UB with the intention of presenting herself as a more reliable option that recently-injuried Lari. And I don’t blame Cata alone, but Romanian federation too. They didn’t handle the situation very well and Lari suffered for that. When we talked about the choice a couple of months ago, it seemed that Lari wasn’t ready if Cata throw in beam and floor scores above 14.5’s and had a shot at the AA, but at the end, with a little more time, Lari showed that was better prepared that they supossed at first and Cata’s possibilities weren’t as hyped as they thought. But with her spot announced and her post as flag bearer for Romania, they couldn’t go back. At the end, no medals for Romania, no representation in the AA for them and the one they chosed was far from a stellar performance. I am not opposed with her trying for Tokyo, but what Romania needs to understand is that they can´t keep relying on veterans if they want to survive as a team. Veterans are fine if they remain competitive, but they need to give confidence to junior gymnasts if they want to keep a team and have people ready to compete at a good level if someone gets injuried. They can’t keep relying in one or two gymnasts anymore.

    • Bess Says:

So yeah…FB translations leave a lot to be desired. Can someone (anyone that can understand what she is talking about) recap for the class? I am especially curious about the mention of Biles at the end

    • Cee Says:

Naooooooooo…you took Larisa’s spot once already. And did nothing with it.

  9. Dee2 Says:

The local gym here is really building up a fantastic boys program. A former NCAA coach who is reputable and has coached Olympians who are not total twats and a former gymnast of his whom I know personally. I can’t wait to see these kids in a few years.

Maybe they will help to make the men’s program interesting again?

  10. Rocío Martínez López Says:

    Leyva silver on pBars.

  11. Ilanchik20 Says:

And Leyva (the alternate) gets silver on parallel bars.

    So thrilled for Oleg’s gold.

  12. Bess Says:

Happy for Oleg and while I am indifferent towards Leyva in general I thought he deserved to be on the team back at trials. Interesting that the replacement athlete came away with a silver medal and the big wigs got nada

    • H Says:

Is Leyva a better contender for medal in high bar vs Mikulak?

      • Bess Says:

I think so…looking at Championships and Trials looks like Leyva D score was anywhere from 7.1-7.3 and Sam’s ranged from 6.3-6.8. Looks like Leyva’s execution was higher too

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Leyva has a much better high bar chance Sam falls 30% of the time he competes so this being his third routine he’s due for a fall

      • tennisgrl456 Says:

Definitely, plus you have to take into account that Sam hardly ever hits when it truly counts.

      • H Says:

Would be cool if the alt. actually walked away with two medals.

  13. Guest Says:

David Leyva claimed a silver for parallel bars. (but I think Oleg gifted the sympathy scores)

USAG should be ashamed why putting him in alternates.

  14. Exgymgurl Says:

So psyched for Daniel and Alex, t of the non USAG golden boys get medals!!!! USAG MAG should totally be ashamed that Donnell is not here as he always comes up and doesn’t choke!!!

  15. tennisgrl456 Says:

Time for floor…fingers crossed for a Simone/Aly/Giulia podium

  16. Exgymgurl Says:

Naddour had Hollie right there with him that’s why I think he medaled she carried him in his heart, her and Lila. This makes his real estate career!!

  17. Exgymgurl Says:

OMG Ashton got screwed same as Hollie!!!! Just realized!

  18. H Says:

    Really great routine from Tinkler!
    And impressed by Wangs consistency.

  19. Rocío Martínez López Says:

    The fuck Giulia!

  20. Bess Says:

That live commentator is a bit off- “it’s tight between Tinkler and Biles…only .03” Try 1.03 friend

  21. H Says:

The best routine from Aly ever in my opinion. Almost as I wished to come in first.

  22. Rocío Martínez López Says:

    Tinkler, bronze. What a surprise.

  23. H Says:

Vanessa lost the medal on the last pass, such a shame. 4th it is.
    Happy for Tinkler though

  24. tennisgrl456 Says:

Someone mentioned this on twitter but no individual medals for the China or Romania on the women’s side. Only one more event to go for the men but it looks like the Chinese men won’t win any individual medals either.

  25. Guest Says:

Simone finished with 4 gold 1 bronze. The best woman gymnasts results ever in non-boycotted Olympics.

    • H Says:

Great achievement. When that is said I am insanely impressed by Aly! Simone is in many way in her own league. So Aly is a spectacular number two:-)

  26. dianajc99 Says:

Umm. Y is there an eagle on the top of GER uniform?

  27. lovelucas Says:

so…….now that we’re here, can I sign up for figure skating discussion? Skate America isn’t too far away 🙂 Thanks so much for a place open for discussion by people who know their stuff. So frustrating trying to deal with others in other places. But you guys….KNOW.

  28. tulip Says:

All of this ‘poor Gabby’ seems like it is part of a carefully orchestrated PR campaign. Now, Natalie has never been accused of being an experienced and successful planner with a long term vision and the ability to manage multiple concerns at once.

Which leads me to the question of who is behind this PR campaign? I think it’s Steve Penny. He has an awful lot to lose here if Gabby acts like an asshat and falls out of favor, especially over issues such as patriotism and being a bad teammate when the other four are full of love for each other. I mean there’s a tour with seats to fill and the ‘Gabby rises above cyber bullying ‘ could put butts in seats because it’s a compelling story line.

This approach addresses multiple issues at once. 1) It excuses her bad attitude because she’s traumatized 2) it paints the press and individuals who raise legitimate questions as racist hateful monsters, therefore negating any critical commentary 3) It AGAIN shows Gabby as the perpetual victim who keeps rising above but just in case anyone was wondering, any poor behavior or performance was a response to those awful haters.

Natalie and Gabby Inc have never shown restraint or strategic thinking. They usually start saying or doing anything regardless of truth and have been caught in lies (2 months of crutches due to an unknown injury despite being on social media daily, the change in narrative about her father being in her life etc). In the Reuters interview with Natalie yesterday, she seemed careful and thoughtful in her words. That is a complete change. Natalie has likely been given some media training and it sounds like USA Gymnastics is behind it.

So, Steve Penny has a lot to lose and everything to gain by turning Gabbys image around fast. His credibility is in question for putting her on the team over other more prepared and deserving girls. The men’s program is an embarrassment and as president, he is ultimately accountable for results. And believe me, the accusations of ignoring child abuse and protecting molesters to protect the image is not going anywhere. There is at least one active lawsuit and probably more coming up. There could be charges over failure to report abuse (the state of Indiana is investigating). So why not control the narrative now?

Okay I’m laughing at how much I’ve written but every time I start to move on to a new topic I find more evidence to support my theory.

So I propose that Steve Penny and USAG are leading the Gabby stuff now, Natalie sees the money drying up and will do anything to change that and agrees to let them be in charge and as always Gabby gets to once again not be responsible for her own actions.

Look for more and more of the same because it appears to be creating loads of sympathy toward her. Celebrities are jumping on board to defend her although they only know what they are being fed (Shonda Rhimes and Leslie Jones for example). This suggests that the approach is working. I’ll be glad when gymnastics is done so the attention on her goes away. And that pisses me off because the attention should be on the phenomenal success the others had while being Team USA first.

    • Dee2 Says:

I am curious, who are they citing in their claims of bullying? Are people writing things on her twitter and/or Instagram accounts? I really could care less about the medal ceremony, as many people do not put their hands over their hearts, during the national anthem.

Leslie Jones is a hilarious comedienne who was specifically targeted because of her looks/race but did Gabby receive the same treatment? It is possible, but I have just heard about it without seeing or hearing examples. Was any of this vitriol directed at Simone and Laurie (for being Latina) as well?

I am completely confused and perhaps it is just better to not discuss this anymore, but I don’ t understand how this all came into play.

      Feeling stupid..

    • dianajc99 Says:

I’m just sick of being accused of “bullying” because I have a negative “opinion” of someone. So if I vote for someone for president am I “bullying” their opponent by note voting for them?

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I can’t even go on FB because when I express my intense dislike of Hillary I get the whole “I can’t believe you’re a Trump supporter” BS. And then I’m a hater.

So if I don’t like Hillary I like Trump? Negatory. They both suck IMO.

So if I don’t think Gabby is a good sport I’m a racist? Ok. Whatever. But I love Simone – yet I’m still a racist.

SO sick of the race card. Obama brought that one back with a vengeance, I swear. This whole public media cry of “black lives matter” and such…it’s all making everyone just hate each other. But a nation divided is a nation easier to manipulate and control. Too bad most people can’t see that.

      • Akshay Says:

(GTT, I typed in my email address wrong on the last message, so please ignore!)

Sanity, I’m with you on Hillary versus Trump. Not to get too political, but it bothers the hell out of me. I don’t like either candidate, and I won’t support either of them in November… but it burns me up how people try to excuse Hillary’s terrible views on the issues and her reckless/brazenly unethical conduct with “but Trump1!1” Many of her supporters dismiss any criticism of Hillary with “why do you want Trump to win???” and it’s beyond stale and frustrating at this point. Worst Election Ever.

  29. Exgymgurl Says:

Leyva drowns Mikulak Way to go USAG MAG!!!

  30. gymtruthteller Says:

Fabian just won highbar and it made Olympics almost as much as Kohei winning the AA. This was the best day of the Olympics for me .

  31. Guest Says:

Leyva silver in high bar again. What a big slap on USAG.

  32. Akshay Says:

Here’s a translation of the Ponor Open Letter (taken from Tumblr):

    Catalina Ponor’s open letter

August 15 was an extremely tense and hard day for me. Why? Do you think it’s been easy for me? (…) As the only representative of Romania I had to please everyone even though I had nothing left to prove to anyone, maybe to myself. I CAN BECAUSE I WANT! I’d say I felt in better shape than I was at 16! And I could have made it if I didn’t feel all the negative comments and vibes coming like a hand trying to push me off the apparatus!

I wanted it too much and it broke my heart. I cried all night, it hasn’t been easy for me to ignore everything I heard around me, on social media and in the press! Thank god I have a strong mind and I was able to concentrate as much as I could! Don’t think that I don’t see everything you write or say behind my back (to those around me), I just didn’t pay attention to you and I let you go crazy badmouthing me! (…)

Grandma? Am I so old at the age of 29 when there are so many gymnasts over the age of 30 in the world but they don’t have the results to be remembered? Ugly? Maybe I am, I don’t know, nobody is a model and I’m not the bimbo type of athlete who can’t live without fake nails, dyed hair and other stuff like that, because I’m too focused on what I have to do! (…)

I’ve often seen people question “when has Ponor ever carried the weight of her team?” Well let’s see. It’s true that over time I’ve always had somebody to help me, like Monica (Rosu), Dana (Sofronie), Oana (Ban) or Sandra (Izbasa)!

Who’s been in the national team since 2003? Who got the best results in 2003-2004? Who represented Romania in 2005 and got the bronze medal while the rest of the team was thrown out of the training camp? Who supported the girls at the 2006 Euros? Who came back in Tokyo in 2011 after 4 years and a heart intervention to help the team qualify for the Olympics? I went alone, without Sandra, with inexperienced girls and I stepped over my principles coming from an Olympic gold winning team by taking responsibility for that so-called “failure” of coming back without medals. Who led the team, along with Sandra, at the 2012 Euros and tried to give the younger ones an example of how to be united as a team? Who fought, along with Sandra, to finish on the podium at the Olympics after everyone, including the coaches, were saying it was impossible for us to do that because Larisa was injured? Who came back after 3 years, with nothing left to prove, to try and fix a team that was visibly not working ever since Worlds 2014? (…)

Here’s an advice: treasure what you have left because I’m telling you, it will be a long time until the next 3-time Olympic Champion will be born [in Romania]! (…)

Thanks for reading this and after all that happened I’m seriously considering Tokyo 2020 – whoops!

    With respect

    3-time Olympic Champion

    Catalina Ponor

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Is she seriously whining about being the only gymnast ? Sorry but BS. TRY being Larisa and carrying the team for 4 years than getting left at home in favor of the you because you won gold 8 years ago. Give me a fucking break.

    • tulip Says:

Interesting that she left out LarI in her list of Romanian greats

  33. sanitynmotion Says:

Does anyone feel like Aly got screwed? I haven’t watched floor finals yet but my friend who’s also a big time gym fan said Simone shuffled/stepped on all of her landings and Aly’s was the best floor routine, but the judges gave it to Simone. She said Aly got robbed (and she loves Simone too by the way…)

Simone’s routine had 2 tenths of a point higher D score but if she shuffled her landings and Aly killed it…I’m wondering.

    What do you guys think?

    • Akshay Says:

Eh, I need to rewatch the routines (which I probably won’t be able to do until primetime), but I thought Aly was a bit messier in the air. I think the podium is right, though I reserve the right to change my mind after seeing the routines again.

    • Guest Says:

Simone has better form in air and momentum of tumbling.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Simone as usual had steps on most of her passes but Aly barely connected her leap to her double pike and I wouldn’t have given her credit for it. Aly’s form on her twisting is also messy
Simone was overscored but she deserved it IMO.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

No, Simone was a little bouncy but Aly gets knocked for leap flexibility toe point and bent and crossed legs.

    • lovelucas Says:

Simone for the Gold. Her in air execution is perfection. She might have had a couple of hops but Aly doesn’t get a full split plus she has a bit of loose legs in tumbling, except for that wonderful first pass. and overall I feel Simone’s is more artistic. But love them both and so happy they both medaled.

    • H Says:

I think it at least the scores should have been closer. Simone is clearly scored better “in the air”, but Aly was better in her landings. Still, today I thought it have never been closer then this between them.

And Mihai telling Aly, “do everything you can” before Aly’s floor showed for me the secret hope that Aly could possible get really close, specially if Simone didn’t stick all her landings.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

They have never deducted Simone enough for her landings. Not at world’s and not at these Olympics but her execution on her tumbling is just light years ahead of everyone else I feel they just don’t care. Neither has any artistry IMO

  34. hobarttdavid Says:

What did the Chinese men do to fall out of favor with FIG and IOC?

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Conspiracy theory in me says that Chinese are paying now for cheating during Beijing games…

Cuz 2 of those girls weren’t 16. But I digress.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I thought the same thing and it’s not the first time I’ve thought this. Sad that the 2008 team still gets accused with no proof. Prove it or move on.

      • tulip Says:

Any punishment on that issue should be FIG punishing FIG. They were presented with inconsistencies regarding ages but the IOC allowed the Federation/Bruno to investigate and decide. They found all Chinese documentation to be valid and allowed China to compete. Therefore, anything in the future that proves any age falsification in those games will make the FIG look like clowns.

So if any cheating did occur, it was with the assistance of the FIG, regardless of it being intentional or a true mistake in that the FIG believed China.

      • hobarttdavid Says:

I bet FIG and IOC knew the Chinese gymnasts were < 16 yrs old. They just wanted China to win team gold on home country. I bet that's part of why Marta hates Intl judges.

  35. H Says:

It doesn’t seem that Aly is so sure if this was her last competition. When asked if this was it for her? She replied, Never say never …

And “I think I’m getting better with age.”

    • sanitynmotion Says:

I’m crossing my fingers with that one. Truly she learned her hard work paid off. I would love to see her continue but have this feeling she might be done. Real life will beckon and remember…real life is more fun than all day in a gym…that’s just my thinking.

I hope Laurie continues. I would love to see more of her.

    • Guest Says:

I would rather want Aly ends her elite career with high note like that. 26 is not an easy age for female gymnasts especially the fierce competitions for representing in US. Aly deserves starting her new chapter of life and finishing the college degree.

      • H Says:

Aly will do what ever she will do. 2020 may seem to far away, but since she is now in the flow of things I dont yet write off the possibility of her coming back for worlds 2017.

She is also now in a position where she can reduce the numbers due to experience and new built confidence.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I would love for Aly to come back. I’ve been rooting for her for so long. But she won’t come back, unless she is 110% in it. And Mihai won’t let her.

I guess she can come back as a specialist for 2020 (maybe train a 2nd vault?) but I think she really enjoys team competitions so she prob won’t.

I do think Aly was better today and they def should have been closer but I’m still happy with the results. She had another amazing Olympic and I’m thrilled for her.

      • dianajc99 Says:

does Brestans have any junior coming up?

    • tulip Says:

Aly peaked today. Good grief did she look nearly perfect or what? I was so happy to see the work and devotion be rewarded

  36. Sainabou Nyang Says:

Sooo now that this is all over are we gonna plan Martas retirement party?

  37. H Says:

Anyone know what the gymnastics gala I and II is about that NBC is streaming tomorrow/17th?

  38. Exgymgurl Says:

Zac efron dropped by to see Simone for real… Pics on her snapchat

  39. Mim Says:

Floor final was a bit underwhelming, but I think the podium was right. What a great day for Tinkler. I have a soft spot for her as I really think she should have been GB’s 2nd AA gymnast over Fragapane (who I don’t really consider to be a stronger AAer). Really happy to see her sneak into the medals. I think Aly had the routine of her life and was amazing, maybe cleaner landings than Simone but she wasn’t perfect in the air (some leg separations, not enough toe point). Thrilled for Simone of course.i really hope Aly wants to continue. She’s actually gotten better with age and those Brestyan legs have helped. She seems like one the girls who really really loves gymnastics and thrives off a regimented training lifestyle.

This was a particularly exciting and special Olympics for me, as I found out there is a baby Mim on the way (the day Simone won AA, so of course the nickname for baby to be is Simone haha).. early days, we’re keeping it quiet in real life I couldn’t resist sharing it here! 🙂

  40. Akshay Says:

    From Tumblr:

“Btw Larisa no longer has a public IG and twitter account because she was trashed for wishing Simone Biles good luck for the beam final. The incident was called a faux pas.

Catalina also publicly shamed her in that Fb post for wishing luck to another athlete. In order to defend herself, Larisa had to post a prinscreen of her phone messages where she actually wished Catalina good luck too, twice. Catalina didn’t even answer to the first message.

So, yes, Larisa had to actually apologize for good sportmanship. I’m disgusted.”

  41. Gymnast41 Says:

Did y’all see the Facebook live with the team? Omg Simone is literally the best person ever. Laurie is definitely one that showed her great personality too, and Aly really is like a mom to the group that speaks to them like an elder and constantly gets called “gramps”. Simone is a bundle of energy that makes gabby look like a bunch of sour grapes. Although gabby definitely is quiet, she contributed by only responding to questions about her, laughing, and fixing Simone’s hair lol. Madison is definitely like Kyla, and it was nice to see her personality as well. Definitely well spoken. If I can find the link to the video I would share. It was nice to see their thoughts on the Olympics process. Seemed like Simone, Laurie, and gabby are planning on coming back to training after a break and Aly is undecided but actually considering. Kinda understandable for her to go out on a bang. The day she retires I might actually sob. Also, Gabby was whispering to Laurie about something at some point and eventually gave way to her being on DWTS too which was funny lol. Looked like Simone and zac are planning a “date” 🙂

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

I heard Laurie is doing DWTS too, prob why she went pro now. Since she is only 16, I guess her mom or someone will be there too.

So Gabby is not retiring? Seems bizarre.

I hope Aly does not retire yet at least. I’m so not ready!

      • Guest Says:

I think Laurie’s personality and her Latino background is the best fit of DWTS. Maybe bummed she may be out of gymnastics field 1-2 years but who knows she wuld make a magical comeback trail like Aly.

If Simone goes, I am afraid she will suffer some body shaming comments like Shawn did before. Hollywood is unmerciful if you has no skinny body. And I think Simone deserves some other offers better than DWTS.

      • Akshay Says:

I realize it’s become a tradition of sorts, but DWTS isn’t what it used to be either.

      • chris Says:

does anyone have a link to this facebook live video?

      • dianajc99 Says:

ooo. I might actually watch DWTS for laurie..

      • tulip Says:

Wouldn’t DWTS interfere with the tour? I thought that took priority

    • Gymnast41 Says:

Sparkles and chalk posted it on her tumblr, and ahe posted it on her Vimeo account!

      Enjoy 🙂

      • Mim Says:

Don’t shoot me but Gabby seems the most chill and least annoying to me in this video. I think Simone would do my head in in real life, I forget she’s still a teenager.

  42. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Surprisingly, there was an article about Mckayla Marooney in an Spanish National newspaper today: http://smoda.elpais.com/moda/actualidad/mckayla-maroney-gimnasta-viral-juegos-olimpicos-2012-estrella-instagram/. God, she had a lot of surgery done. Why? She is only like twenty and was cute. What happened to her?

    • G Says:

She claims she had nothing done…hmmm. It definitely looks like she could have had upper lip fillers but maybe it’s filled in lipliner or something. Certainly the amount of makeup she wears makes her look a lot different.

      • Guest Says:

I think she is trying to act like Kylie Jenner. Maybe it is all about her entertaining career.

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

I noticed she says that, but when you see pictures of her in London and now, you notice that the structure of her face in somehow different. The cheeks, the lips and the overall impresion of her face are different in a way that doesn’t relate to growing up or using make up (all of us above twenty knows that make-up usually helps, but it don’t make any miracles). I really think she had some kind of surgery and it is a pity, because I think she was really cute and it is something very difficult to fix if it doesn’t go as expected.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I’d say some kind of filler and injections. Not surgery. But she looks bad. Not even cute or pretty – just fake and trying too hard.

  43. lovelucas Says:

The ship has been righted. Today Show – surprised Simone with Zac Efron. Her reaction was priceless – the entire team were there but Simone and Laurie went bonkers! Such a great segment – all positive. Zac was watching from his home and heard about Simone and her life-sized cardboard cutout of him. NBC (no doubt) flew him down and he was just terrific. This will erase all sourness and negativity.

  44. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Good article about Romania by the Couch Gymnasts, with translations to English several statements made by Cata, Larissa, Cata’s mother and Sandu (who has to go as soon as possible): http://www.thecouchgymnast.com/2016/08/17/on-romania-lessons-missed/

  45. lovelucas Says:

Regarding the Gala – just saw blurbagge on NBC that it’s today – at least Part ONE is. Don’t know if the rest will be on tonight?

  46. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Inane comment of the day regarding Zac Efron’s visit to the girls. One person made a comment on Twitter saying that she didn’t know who Simone should marry, Zac Efron or the cute brazilian gymnast Arthur Nory. Nory’s Twitter address was included in the comment, so Nory himself took time to answer that she should marry Nory, of course. It’s stupid, I know, but it put a smile on my face. 🙂

  47. Bess Says:

IS anyone watching the GALA? I’m not sure what the heck I am watching with these group routines/dances…is this seriously the type of routine they are scored on?

  48. dianajc99 Says:

Cata needs some peace..reap what you sew on that one..

Can i have some peace in my life for god’s sake ? To much hate around me ugh 😦 I think soon I’m going to close all my accounts

  49. Guest Says:

Don’t know if it is a coincidence, Gabby’s position of camera is very awkward. It may literally prove that she is isolated from the team.

  50. gymnerd Says:

Am I the only one who found Aly & Simone’s interview with Costas a bit obnoxious? Were they high, or are they 12? And I love these two.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

      I agree. Esp Aly

    • hobarttdavid Says:

I was so disappointed by the behavior of both gymnasts in the the interview that midway through I turned off the tv.

In his set-up before the interview, Costas described them as in “high spirits.” That tells me that NBC knew they had a clunker of an interview on their hands.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

What did Aly do/say? I didn’t see this interview. Explain? I’m curious.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

They Didn’t Say anything I remember they just seemed hyped on way too much sugar.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

        So basically they were annoying?

I remember something about after London Aly said she had her first cupcake in years. Who knows maybe they were hyped up on sugar.

Still, when you’re on TV…you’re on TV. You can’t take any of that back. Like the internet.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

It was just a weird interview or maybe I have an aversion to teenagers acting bubbly and giggly. It came across a little phony amd a lot weird or maybe in old.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Yeah – well Aly ain’t a teenager. Haha. Although she has spent most of her life in a gym.

      • Gymnast41 Says:

It was almost like they rehearsed lines..like it didn’t seem authentic and that they were acting out for the cameras

    • gymnerd Says:

I will only say this here because I don’t want it to leave this board, but it felt like they were trying to elevate themselves above the rest of the team – “The Final Two,” “The Dynamic Duo,” etc. I wish I’d never read the comments about Aly trying to insert herself onto Simone’s fame train, because I could kind of see it. I hope it was just a couple of sheltered young ladies being relieved and silly that the months and years of stress were over. My esteem of Raisman slipped several notches.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

When I saw Aly get up on stage with Simone after the AA I thought the same thing but I watched it again , SIMONE told her to get up there with her. She motioned her over so I don’t think Simone’s has a problem with it so I don’t. Unlike Gabby who is trying to take over all the attention by blaming whitey for hwr bad behavior

      • Guest Says:

Can’t wait Gabby will laugh her memoir to bash her teammates bullying her years later.

      • Guest Says:

        *wrong spelling*
        not laugh is lanuch

      • gymnerd Says:

Oh, I remember Simone motioning Aly up on the podium with her. I thought that was sweet. It was everything else besides that that got on my nerves.

      • tennisgrl456 Says:

Ehh…to be fair, Marta Karolyi was quoted in an interview referring to them as the “Final Two.”

“‘This day is a fantastic closing to my long career,’ Karolyi said. ‘I call Simone and Aly my ‘final two,’ and I told them, ‘Girls, this was the grand finale.’

‘Not only did they place first and second (in floor exercise), they did excellent routines. They came proudly to me to say they had their highest scores ever. So they were happy that they did their best, and that is the spirit of everything I tried to instill in the team.'”

  51. H Says:

    From gymnastics coaching.

And was wondering why she “never” tried to up her diff. …

Looks good, not sure how many tenths she would have earned.

  52. dianajc99 Says:

OMG, I saw this picture super ironic.

  59. Gymnast41 Says:

Wow Simone got chosen to be the flag bearer for the closing ceremony in her FIRST Olympics. Never been happier for her. It’s truly amazing 🙂

  60. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Read on Twitter that Mykayla Skinner is going pro after all. If true, I don’t know if it is such a good idea to be honest. Do you guys know something about it?

    • Gymbee Says:

What! I thought she was ready to go to Utah?

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Maybe excited about Olympic hype and wants to see about going for next quad…she did get better this last quad, a lot better. Plus maybe she wants to collect money for the tour?

      Guessing here.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I read also on twitter she will go on tour so that will pay for College amd she will continue competing for money . It’s her life as long as she’s happy who are we to judge. With her 2 vaults and no Simone she co I ld be vault world champ next year.

      • Gymnast41 Says:

I honestly thought when she committed to Utah it was kinda ridiculous imo. She’ll get criticized for her execution in NCAA possibly. I could see skinner improving a ton the next couple of years, but I’m scared she’ll get overshadowed in the next couple years by new talent/ possibly Laurie/Aly/(ahem) gabby/Ashton/Simone returners. I heard skinner will not even make half as much as the final five though? Anna Li only made about 45K based on some reports.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

The three of the final five r on the beach. They all look amazing.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

She’s not an Olympian I am sure she will make less

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I’m not a fan of her but I think she could get even better.

I wish she would change coaches if she is giving more time to elite. Her form got so much better just in 2-3 weeks she trained with Rybacki. A new coach who can handle her difficulty without sacrificing so much D would be much better.

      • gymmom2 Says:

She may not care about college – not everyone does. And while her difficulty will keep her near the top in Elite, with Kyla, Ohashi, Kocian (just name a few) in the PAC 12, I don’t see her being the PAC12 or NCAA rock star that she would want to be. I think she would find being second fiddle to all of them, hard to take. I can see her staying in Elite – and maybe even USAG suggesting she change gyms. Not sure how the specialists rules will work next Olympics, but the US has very few doing 2 vaults. She seems to have escaped injury despite her difficulty. I see her continuing to improve. If she can clean up she has a shot at worlds. And no idea whether there are separate marketing opportunities being LDS that might factor in, but there could be.

    • Gymnast41 Says:

I think it’s ridiculous. She knows that she’ll most likely do well at worlds 2017, but she doesn’t know that’s the world’s nobody cares about. I didn’t even think it was a good idea for Laurie to go pro so quickly before the Olympics, but now I think it was a great idea and makes sense. If she’d actually made the team, I’d understand, but she lost a lot of fans due to the backlash. I mean, she’s already rich and can probably pay for college already, I think she just wants her name out there.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

So they s Steve Penny bought skinner off for not putting her on the team. Wonder if Ashton got the same deal. She must have enough lined up to cover$160000. If you have that it makes sense to go pro. I wonder her tour check is probably only like 100k so she would need something else. She has a pair of Nikes on her Instagram if she was picked up as a Nike athlete that’s another 50-60k right there. Maybe Nike dropped gabby. Mykayla is ver pretty as is Ashton 🙂

    • Rocío Martínez López Says:

It’s true that she has gone better in the last couple of years and can get money from deals, the tour and World Cup/tournaments that are not worlds, so if college is not a priority for her and want to remain competing, I suppose it makes sense. But I didn’t think she would go that route, to be honest.

    • dianajc99 Says:

She can make enough to pay for college. The NCAA judges would have killed her on form deductions. she can be like ebee price just keep the money.

  61. gymnerd Says:

So I’ve been trying to figure out a team name based on the girls’ initials (“GLAMS”), but after looking at the People cover, it almost seems like the “appropriate” name for this team (and the cover) would be “SLAM Gabby.” Are those “$2 off” things stickers, or part of the magazine? Team Douglas will NOT be happy. Who is Gabby’s agent these days? He/she doesn’t seem to be doing Gabby many favors.

  62. Gymnast41 Says:

Gabby officially left rio, the day before closing ceremonies…which happens to have Simone the star of the show. Looks like someone is done with these Olympics lol

    • gymtruthteller Says:

She will get more attention with people asking, where is Gabby then she would have received by being here. I still have to laugh that people think she was wronged when she was the one that acted the way she did
I don’t even care about the hand over heart stuff it’s the attitude she showed that gets me. I can’t wait for the excuse of what she was going through. That should be a doozy. Good riddance troll. Let Simone get the attention she deserves without you bringing her down. She deserves that.

    • Guest Says:

Lets see will Aly, Laurie and Madison join the closing ceremony too. It would be very embarrassing moments when the tour begins. Maybe few years later, Gabby will publish her memoir to whining that she was bullied and isolated by her teammates in order to grab attention again.

    • Gymnast41 Says:

If I were her I’d just disappear into thin air, but I can just feel a tell-all coming once she’s done with the tour. I wonder what type of ridiculous comment she’d be saying if approached right after closing ceremonies though, with pics of the final four circulating around. i can only imagine that it’d be worse than I can come up with. I doubt we’ll see a post from her congratulating Simone for her accomplishments UNLIKE everyone else on the team that has.

I can’t even tell you how tired I am of seeing people defending her and comparing her situation to Lochte’s. It’s really pissing me off. There’s a difference between being utterly disrespectful to your teammates and your country and lying about something happening. But no, in America’s eyes gabby is the poor black girl being attacked for “no wrong” and Lochte’s the white “kid” getting away with everything. It’s disgusting, and I’m tired of everything being about race for her. Sorry y’all just had to let it out.

      • Guest Says:

Ryan Lochte has already been hugely criticized of his disgrace and embarrassment to his country. He also made his apology finally. I don’t see where is the double standards of public towards him and Gabby.

Gabby was criticized not just because she is not putting hand on heart. It is all about attitude and team spirit. When other four girls did the same acts and focus on the flag but only she didn’t and she was also captured distracted in eyes, it is why people say she is disrespectful and not into the team. Not to mention her sour grapes attitude of Simone and Aly’s triumph in AA final.

      • Gymnast41 Says:

On Twitter search “Gabby Douglas Ryan lochte” and you’ll see what I mean! Saw some stuff on Facebook as well

      • gymnerd Says:

And of course it’s a lot of, “Lochte is getting a free pass because he’s white, and Poor Gabby is getting vilified because she’s black.” I haven’t witnessed Lochte getting any kind of a pass. He’s gotten it worse than Gaggy did. If I were her, I’d be sending him flowers.

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

Ralph Lauren and Speedo have already broken their contracts with Lochte and I have read nothing but condemning comments about his “adventure” in the international press. In fact, the most lenient comments I have read about him goes around the lines of: “One has to be stupid to lie in this time and age when everything is being recorded. He was going to get caught, so we shouldn’t be so strict with him because, obviously, something is no right within his head” and that is pretty insulting in my opinion. I have read nothing saying that he is blameless or they were just doing “guy things” that should be overlooked.

  63. Guest Says:

LOL. Maybe one more NFL-Gym couple in the future?

  64. Guest Says:

Simone expressed her interest in DWTS on the next spring. Sounds like Sasha Farber would be the hot choice as matching her height.

Personally, I would love to see Laurie do it because DWTS is no longer on its prime like 8 years ago and there may be some rude body shaming comments hurting her if Simone does it. Also I think Simone deserves some other offers better than this.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

DWTS if you win like Shawn did is like a million plus. Are you kidding by”better offers?” There is a reason all the Olympians that can do this show

      • Guest Says:

As I mentioned DWTS is not as popular as 8 years ago. The rating is declining year by year, less public attention than before and their golden boy Derek Hough seems never to return again. Also it becomes more rigged and the producers obviously favor someone to win. Just like American Idol was losing its star-creating power and finally fades.

  65. Exgymgurl Says:

There is probably a grandfathered automatic check for the in the dark under armor ads for skinner also. Unless she has Nike or someone else waiting. Spammy tampson and began get a grip are convinced Laurie has DWTS and Valeri is taking over.

  66. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Silver for Spain in Rhytmic gymnastics. Yay!

  67. dianajc99 Says:

Just bought my SI mag..Gabby is on the cover of the sept Success Magazine..

  68. dianajc99 Says:

And it starts.. Annoying robot voice..

  69. Gymbee Says:

It’s so clear that Natalie thinks the best way to success is to play the role of the perpetual victim instead of a winner. Even in 2012, they could have marketed her as a winner but they decided to play up the whole victim narrative instead. And same at this Olympics. It’s strange, but I guess it works for them in the short term? Once the “poor Gabby” dies down in some weeks, they will release whatever it is that was “troubling her” this time around for a fresh wave of pity.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

She also tried to make Gabby a black hero instead of marketing her to everyone but cocky doesn’t play in any world and anyone that listened to Gabby talk knows she is full of herself. I saw Gabby in one commercial before / during this Olympics with her mother as her agent but Gabby had 3 or 4 commercials during the winter Olympics and that was 2 years ago . She’s over. It’s Simone’s time.

      • Gymbee Says:

Oh totally, her interviews are all “I’m gonna bring the merchandise”.
Anyway, I don’t think the pity and victim strategies last long – people want to look up to successful people, and companies don’t want negative storylines connected to their names by association.

Can’t wait to see Simone leading Team USA into the stadium tonight!

  70. fatam Says:

So the excuse for Gabby Douglas missing the closing ceremony and being with her four teammates (which last a lifetime) is, she has first day of school tomorrow. That’s kinda funny. Any truth in that? lol.

    • gymnerd Says:

      Charm school, no doubt.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

She hadn’t been in college all this time and she enrolled right after olympics and during the term she’ll be gone on your. Cute lol.

Unless she is not doing the tour, haha.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Hey maybe Gabby finally told mom to get a job and took control of her own life ? Wouldn’t that be great.

      • Gymnast41 Says:

I don’t see any confirmation in this. Apparently it’s Ohio state. Just watch the excuses come for why she isn’t there most of the time even if it is confirmed

      • Gymbee Says:

Slate magazine said that maybe why she distances herself from her teammates is because of the alleged “racist trauma” she went through in that gym, and that’s why she prefers the company of her family.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Nastia did the tour while at NYU. They no doubt will give her a ton of life experience credit. Maybe someone got through to her and convinced her she needs a college degree, so she can manage herself better and look out for her interests.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I’ll believe it when I see it.

      • Laura Says:

Agreed, seems odd, especially considering she has committed to the post olympics tour, she can’t miss the first day of class, yet can miss 2 months of classes while she travels?

      • Ss Says:

She did an interview where she said she’s planning on going back to LA so I highly doubt she is going to OHio State. If anything she’d go to UCLA or USC.

      • Case Says:

Well, Ohio State actually does start tomorrow (8/23). I can’t see why she would stay in OH at all though…except (and I hate to even go down this road) if she wants to be close to Coach Grabby.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

NUf said. She’s staying close to coach grabby, she may think she can train tour and work on scholarship,at Ohio state. She’s lived in Ohio long enough to have residency so it would be cheap…

      • fatam Says:

I seriously doubt Gabby is going to college/school. Seriously seriously doubt…

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I just find it weird she would schedule college so close to the emd of the Olympics. The timing of this all makes no sense. Then again it’s Natalie so ….. but when Gabby was asked what she was doing at the end of the Olympics she said she was looking forward to going home and spending time with her family with no mention of College. It would be a strange thing to lie about. Not to mention easy to check on. Where did she say this anyway ?

      • fatam Says:

I remember reading about it in some Yahoo/gym blog. Also people were asking, “where’s Gabby?” when some of the Final5 members posted pics on their Instagram. Multiple accounts responded Gabby went home early to get ready for first day of school.

I think the people who posted comments were “hired Gabby surrogates.”

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Going to college during the tour just doesn’t make sense. Even Jo, who is already in college (and a senior) and volunteer coach is taking the fall quarter off.

        The whole thing is weird.

    • tulip Says:

I’d rather the excuse be some type of prior commitment as opposed to fleeing the horror show that is her time in Rio.

And Natalie was interviewed by CNN… she must have her own media manager now who can get her on CNN (Steve Penny is my guess as I’ve said before but who knows). As my mom said in all seriousness “why would anyone want to interview Gabbys mom?”

      • Gymbee Says:

Your mom is right! I don’t get how she can continue to put all this negative attention on her adult daughter. GD is adult, she should be able to speak for herself.
Whereas Aly’s parents are just adorable and like a meme by now.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Gabby is back with the team on Today Show. I thought she had class lol

      • gymtruthteller Says:

1 day class , graduation. It’s the Nastia online way to an Ivy league education.

      • Guest Says:

Gabby’s mom no doubt is attention whore and tries to exploit her anytime for breadwinner of her family. Though I hate Gabby, I do think her mom is the main reason.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

NYU is not an Ivy League school, it’s a school for people who can’t get into Colombia or another IVY…

      • Beth Tennant Brigham Says:

NYU classes don’t start until the day after Labor Day.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Gabby obviously went through a whole day of hair and skin rejuvenation and that’s why she missed closing ceremonies, to look better than the other girls for press!!

  71. dianajc99 Says:

  72. Guest Says:

I think Gabby can make a crossover with “Where is Wally” to publish a playing book called “Where is Gabby”.

  73. Gymbee Says:

Have you guys seen how cute Marian Dragulescu is on instagram and facebook. He is massively promoting his Facebook page, and has had t-shirts printed with a photo of himself lol! He has a photo with Aly from this year, she looks like she’s wildly amused posing with the t-shirt. Then a photo of him exchanging pins with Oleg, and just photos from the training in Rio. He just looks happy to be outside haha!

  74. dianajc99 Says:

Gabby will be a judge for the miss America pageant!

    • Exgymgurl Says:

Yeah because mykayla maroney did that four years ago. Snore

    • fatam Says:

Lets pick a random person who knows nothing about said competition and let him/her judge it. Yeah welcome to lame event/shows in America. Tired of these networks bringing in clueless guest judges and crap for shows. Not that you need to be smart to judge a pageant, but still… it’s stupid.

      • tulip Says:

One of the talentless Bruce Willis/Demi Moore daughters was a judge too. Probably nepotism got her the job but nonetheless, she was a judge. I’m sure she added a lot to the show lol

  75. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Mykayla Skinner has tweeted that she is going to Utah in the fall after all.

    • tulip Says:

Good choice for her. I hope she has a great time and can leave Marta and all her lies and games in the past

    • dianajc99 Says:

is she competing NCAA. she could go pro and still attend UTAH

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

She could, in theory. But she is from Arizona so it would be weird if she just went there unless she had a scholarship, because she would have to pay out of state tuition.

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

No idea. I think it could be three things: she always pretended to go to Utah and the NCAA and the rumour that she was going pro was unfounded (even if it was published by USAG’s accounts), that she is going to Uni in Utah but still competing as a pro, as Diana says, or maybe she was doing some negotiations with sponsor or some other people with money that would have allow her to turn pro, but that conversation didn’t go anywhere at the end, so she came back to her original idea of going to the NCAA and Utah. But I think it is the first option. She may have reconsidered going pro, but without making any decision regarding it, and it was published as a given.

      • gymmom2 Says:

Or, she is still deciding/negotiating and posted that to deflect rumors. She didn’t respond to any questions posted, but that doesn’t really tell anything. I heard the team was telling people at Fan Fest last weekend that they expect Skinner in October, but she may decide to continue her elite career. Of course, that could be CYA on the other side. I am sure until she actually shows on campus, there will be questions. Don’t think you can practice NCAA if you are not enrolled, so maybe she is doing on-line or they have half semester classes – but that would be a crazy intense jump into school after being off a year. Although Utah will make her a rock star, so she would love that. Not sure how that will sit with the rest of the team.

  76. Exgymgurl Says:

Oh just for the record, I was telling everyone a year and a half ago that Kyla was between 5’6″ and 5’7″… She actually admitted on Miss Val’s last periscope that she’s 5’6″ so she’s probably closer to 5’7″…..USA gymnastics was listing her height at 5’4″….just saying…

    • Gymbot Says:

I remember you were saying this. Honestly, I am quite excited to see Ross in NCAA. I hope with slightly easier routines, she’ll regain her standard of excellence

  77. Gymnast41 Says:

Funny vid of the girls today in NYC just thought I’d share :)https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=DeTPVIR1JUk

  78. Guest Says:

Does it mean Shawn will join the tour? But I think she may take time with her husband traveling during NFL season.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

They’re both going on tour. Shans husband hasn’t even made an nfl roster yet

      • Guest Says:

I think Andrew looks confident that he can make it this season. Raiders LS Jon Condo is recovering from injury and he is aged. Raiders may need a back-up player like him. He and Shawn also encouraged his teammate Colton Underwood to have a double date with Aly next month.

      • Case Says:

I’m not so sure. Andrew shouldn’t be counting is league minimum salary just yet.

  79. Exgymgurl Says:

The new NCAA code has the skinner deduction for vaulting with only one arm LOL!!!

Ruby Harrold has announced her retirement, but it is said she is going to compete in the NCAA (no idea for which university, though).

    • tennisgrl456 Says:

She’s going to LSU this fall

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

      She is signed with LSU.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Ashton is going on tour too.

      • tulip Says:

That’s another in the long line of incoming freshman who will be fun to watch this year. It’ll be interesting without Bridget Sloan in the NCAA.

We know Florida has been losing prize recruits. The elites who locked in their team years ago are probably relieved as there’ll be a real scramble for the top programs to find ways to adjust teams to make space for these athletes. People like a level 10 bars specialist who in normal circumstances is a great contributor could be replaced in a second by the school that a blue chip recruit wants to attend after deciding against Florida at the last minute.

A made up example here. Say Ashton decides she wanted to go to Michigan since she decommitted Florida. If the roster is full there, a lesser gymnast could get cut to make room. I think we will be seeing big shake ups before the season starts.
I can’t wait to see Kyla and Maggie in NCAA. No more Marta/Steve Penny brain fuckery. Just great team gymnastics with tons of support from everyone associated with the team and they may even start having fun with gymnastics again.

      • Mim Says:

Any word on Peyton Ernst? Apparently she followed and/or liked some LSU stuff on social media recently…

    • Rocío Martínez López Says:

Thanks tennisgrl and Ilanchik. Knew she was going to the NCAA, but I didn’t know where. 🙂

  83. Guest Says:

Aly on Gabby’s “cyber bullying”. Aly’s response just like formal speech for PR. I think she tried hard to say something nice to her. At least I think she doesn’t want to act too “fake” and keeps distant to her.
(Actually we all understand why the “Final Four” don’t like her and she was isolated from closing ceremony.)

    • gymnerd Says:

Yeah, I got the rehearsed/fake vibe too. I’m sure Aly is much too media-savvy, though, to say something like “Yeah, she’s a real bitch and we all hate her, but what are you gonna do?”

    • tulip Says:

And as usual, Gabby remains in the spotlight with her sob story instead of success and sportsmanship. Can she and her pathetic mom just give it a rest? They have to know they are deflecting attention from the incredibly impressive accomplishments of the others who seem to genuinely care for each other as both teammates and friends.

And of course it’s intentional-with all the one on one interview requests for the others or in pairs , GD fades a little bit every time. And it’s not like they mention her in their interviews. Watched Laurie with Ryan Seacrest on the night before the closing ceremony. The focus was Laurie, as it should be, and she was having fun. The only time I see Gabby interviewed is with the full team. But Natalie sure is staying visible with her neverending Whinefest. Could Natalie and the 3 other siblings be in full panic mode because they see the $ slowing down and the opportunities going to the others instead?

      • Gymbee Says:

Absolutely, and the PR strategy is to get the pity and sympathy vote. Seems like it always has been. I still don’t get why, after her 2012 win, why didn’t they just sail on the positive attention, WHY did they have to bring up alleged racism and bullying? Anyway.

  84. dianajc99 Says:

    nastia warning

  85. Gymbot Says:

Sanity, you’re totally right I am in withdrawal and I missed event finals, oops, but I am happy with many of the placements.

Thanks GTT and everyone for keeping me uptodate. On to the next quad!

  86. G Says:

Saw a video of Norah training Shawn’s old double double bar dismount! Can’t wait to see her back in competition next year!

  87. Ilanchik20 Says:

    Laurie will be on DWTS.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

None of that is 100% confirmed yet. Laurie can tour and do DWTS so….

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Maybe she’ll skip tour or appear on a few stops and do DWTS.

They have a bunch of former gymnasts doing the tour–they prob don’t need her lol.

      • Guest Says:

In tradition, all of the team will make their full-time schedule in tour unless they are injured. So both Shawn and Aly joined DWTS in the next spring season. I don’t think it is good idea that you share the time in practicing for tour and dancing in the same time.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Still not confirmed but ET is reporting the same thing.

If that was the case, would one of her parents have to travel with her since she is a minor? (A la Shawn’s first DWTS)

      • Guest Says:

If it is confirmed, I think Laurie will skip the tour and she didn’t said she committed to join the tour also.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

She can’t skip the tour. Their national team contracts obligate them to the tour if they are professional or amateur. Even Kocian will have to do a few stops.

      • Guest Says:

I think it is hard for her if she shares the timetable on both DWTS and Kellogs tour. Maybe Simone is the shoe-in cast for the next spring season so Laurie has no choice that she can only join this season. Don’t know if some gymfan will be mad of her not focusing on tour.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Lauries parents can appoint and pay a guardian and not be with her. Shawns mom didn’t work, some it was easy for her.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

Okay so Shawn and Nastia are both dancing on tour. Suppose Sasha / Derek / mark two of them go on the Kellogg’s tour as partner performers for Shawn and Nastia, while at the same time being on the show with Laurie and Simone. DWTS is only one night a week now so much easier to work into the tour schedule….stranger things have happened. I’d bet since Derek is rumored coming back to DWTS they would love him on tour with them.

  91. Gymnast41 Says:

Apparently gabby is sick and in the hospital, and won’t be going to the vmas

  92. dianajc99 Says:

So shes back in the hospital now?

  93. Melissa Says:

Apparently Gabby had a previous mouth injury that got seriously infected…according to ESPN

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

What is a mouth injury? Lol

      • gymnerd Says:

It could be something like an abscessed tooth. Those things hurt like hell. Or some sort of oral infection. If there’s any truth to this, she’s smart to get it taken care of. Oral infections can lead to way worse.

Still wondering about the “adverse reaction to pain meds,” though.

    • dianajc99 Says:

      ? mono.infected tooth

    • Exgymgurl Says:

It’s not adverse reaction to pain meds, it’s adverse reaction to meds. This could mean anaphylactic shock or an antibiotic reaction. When I had a c section one of the pain meds they gave me during surgery made me throw up Bile even though I had not even eaten anything. I’ve also had antibiotic reactions twice… Not fun, I honestly think there’s a lot going on with gabby we don’t know about

  95. Exgymgurl Says:

http://www.people.com/article/simone-biles-aimee-boorman-coach WOW!!! Shocking, obviously they knew before the Olympics…

    • gymtruthteller Says:

      It’s not shocking
Aimee is putting her husband first after putting Simone 1st for years. Good for her.

    • Case Says:

This is pretty surprising. It will be interesting to see what Simone decides to do.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I bet Simone knew of this and wouldn’t be surprised if maybe she moves to Florida to train with Amy or at least I’m sure they will continue to have a great relationship. Sad, but Amy probably figured Simone will move on eventually and Amy needs to do what’s best for her family.
I still don’t know if I buy it that Simone will want to keep training hard for 4 more years, but we’ll see. After the Olymics “high” wears out, I have a feeling a lot of the “Final Five” will want to have their lives back. But we’ll see. I can totally be wrong here. Marta leaving/new political regime (well, probably same political regime who am I kidding)…a lot of uncertainty.

    • tennisgrl456 Says:

Not really all that shocking, and it’s not like she has said that the move will mean she is done with Simone for good. The article quotes her as saying “she knows that if she plans to continue in gymnastics… I will always be willing to coach her.”

      • Case Says:

But that would mean Simone would have to move to Sarasota to train and leave the gym her family owns? So, yeah, not likely.

  96. Exgymgurl Says:

I mean shocking in the sense that most elite coaches would have their ego so wrapped up in someone they wouldn’t make the break Amy doesn’t really surprise me doing this, and I’m so happy for her and her boys.

  97. Guest Says:

Both Colton Underwood and Andrew East are waived by Raiders according to news. Just wonder the double date with Aly and Shawn would still happen.

  98. Aerial Says:

Well, even if fair, it is shocking. The amount of media that duo got certainly made it seem like this was the furthest thing from happening. I wonder what will happen to the gym, esp if Simone isn’t training and Aimee is gone. The influx of Rec gymnasts following the games, as well as the elites, may fizzle out or go elsewhere. Her grandparents poured a ton of cash into that massive gym – I’m sure they must have thought beyond a few years in their game plan, but I’m very curious. And I didn’t even expect Simone to continue anyway but she has said she will. Can’t wait to watch everything play out! Just when things seemed a tad boring for a moment…

    • Aerial Says:

Dammit grandparents should = parents. I ain’t no Al Earwig.

    • Bess Says:

Quite honestly I am not a bit surprised…I thought something may be going on as soon as I saw WCC brought Justin Laury in as the new head coach. He is pretty amazing and kind of a big up and coming name on the JO side of things…mark my words, he will do great things and is a great guy. The Biles got a good one and I think their gym will be in good hands

      • gymmom2 Says:

I agree. Always thought that while Aimee managed Simone well- that was more pacing and psychological than coaching expertise. Since this sport is so much mental and being injury free, I am not diminishing the importance that played in Simone’s success. Others may well have burned her out. However, Aimee has not personally coached anyone else to success – and frankly after this everything would be step down. No way she could repeat with someone else. So making a move that puts family first is good all around – and EVO gets a great marketing plug. I think the draw to WCC gym is the amazing facility and Simone – and you can bet she will be connected. They didn’t build that just for her to train for 2016. Even if Simone retires ( which I don’t foresee) can you imagine the draw of her coaching….

I do wonder if Simone knew prior to the Olympics.

      • Case Says:

I’m not going to minimize the efforts and expertise of a coach who developed the greatest gymnast of all time from a young girl to Olympic AA medalist. That’s crazy talk.

      • gymmom2 Says:

No question she was the right person for Simone – on many levels. And I think she has certainly grown as a coach as Simone grew as a gymnast, so I hope we see more great things from her. I guess because unlike most of the others on that elite level, she didn’t work her way up – and I know how much “outside help” Marta sent to Simone over the years – I tend to forget to credit Aimee with the same growth in skills as I credit Simone.. No one is born a great gymnastics coach, and she has had 10 years with Simone to hone her skills. She has had the opportunity to learn from some of the best and had the opportunity to work with the best, so just as it is unfair to compare Simone of 2010 with the Simone of 2016, it is unfair of me to compare Aimee of 2010 with the Aimee of 2016. Time will show us whether she can translate that expertise to her tenure at EVO. I do love that she is a positive motivator. Gymnastics needs more coaching from that frame of reference. I stand corrected.

      • Bess Says:

Heck no…I by no means mean to minimize Aimee coaching. I just think that everyone has been on the same page for a long time now what would happen after this quad. I’m sure it wasn’t made public until now for a variety of reasons least of which was let the focus be on Simone and only Simone…not speculating about possible underlying issues. From all accounts Aimee’s job was to be Simone’s coach…Simone is taking a break, Aimee wants to spend more time with her family and her husband has a job in FL, what is she supposed to do?

As I stated before I think The Biles always knew this was coming for awhile now and they are trying to build their program past Simone. They made a good start getting Justin and crew. If I could send a certain little one to go train anywhere it would be with Justin…I don’t care if he is at WCC or back in Michigan. Ideally, I would have preferred him to come back to Atlanta though lol

      • H Says:

        Who is Justin Laury?

        What is his experience?

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

He trained a former junior elite Vanesia Bradley. Was very powerful–similarly to Simone, although not to her level.

And lots of very successful level 10’s–which is where gym money is anyways.

  99. Guest Says:

Aly and Simone will make appearances in Ellen Show on 6th Sept.

  100. Exgymgurl Says:

    Laurie is officially on DWTS

    • Guest Says:

Val is her partner. No Mark in this season and Derek has returned.

    • Guest Says:

Just wonder how Laurie can adjust her schedule of dancing and Kellogg’s tour.

      • Case Says:

I don’t think she’s going on tour. She may do a few stops here and there (ala Kyla Ross 2012), but she is wisely bowing out of that shit show.

    • exgymgurl Says:

Like I said DWTS is on Monday nights, I would bet you mark is the other pro dancing with Shawn on the Kelloggs tour…. Val can dance with Nastia LOL!!!!

      • Guest Says:

According to schedule of DWTS, they have to practice during Thur to Sat and rehearsal on Sunday.

      • exgymgurl Says:

But they can practice wherever she is on tour. Just like Jerry Rice and other people who were travelling did. Nastia and Derek practiced in NY. You don’t have to be in Los Angeles to practice. They come in late sunday for the rehearsal, but that’s mostly blocking etc of their individual dance for camera angles. They could do theirs Monday right before show time as they have with other busy performers. Her Instagram says the schedule allows her to do both, so I’m sure she will be on tour and be on DWTS. Steve Penny will do anything to sell tickets

  101. Ilanchik20 Says:

How sad. She trained with Jo.

Damn, Marine Brevet has announced her retirement.

    • JAS4 Says:
      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

Well, interesting…She is able to land the Produnova with some kind of consistency, but very low and with questionable execution. Isn’t it a little early to be thinking of a thougher vault? On the other hand, if she brings to the table the other vault and throw the Produnova and said other, thougher vault in competition, the D-scores of both can give her medals even with a very poor execution, so maybe that’s what they are aiming for…Pena got into several finals, including an Olympic one, with a Produnova that I have never seen her land, so it could work for them if the code doesn’t begin to deduct more from falls and uncomplete vaults. They have seen that you can win medals with falls if you have a D-score big enough, so they are playing that game.

  106. Rocío Martínez López Says:

    Interview with Aliya’s father: http://www.wogymnast.com/2016/09/russias-aliya-mustafina-likely-to-retire.html.

It seems that she texted them saying that her gold winning routine was the last of her carreer, But then she seems to have second guesses about her decision. She seems to want to retire, but then says that Russia’s program is in a bad place right now and may need her. I think that Aliya wants to retire, but that she is the kind of person who tends to feel responsable for others. If the program pressure her enough and convince her that she is really needed, she might force herself to go on a little more. And I am sure Valentina will throw everything in her book to make her stay, at least until Melnikova and Eremina show that they can marginally substitute her. Frankly, after Rio’s result, the Rodionenkos must be shaking in their boots every time they hear Aliya and retirement in the same sentence. Especially after Afan’s retirement and possibly Komova’s and Paseka’s too.

  107. G Says:

So Simone has a book coming out soon. That was quick!

  108. Rocío Martínez López Says:

NBC says that Aly will try to compete in Tokyo 2020. Seems she is not retiring after all:

    • H Says:

      trala la la la

      • H Says:

I think Aly has potential to do a much better beam set. If she now use her time well to upgrade. She has the power to do more difficult skills that is not solely relaying on connections.

For some reason I think she should do a “Barani?” (like simone) isn’t that an E/G skill?

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I think that’s a mistake. World judged don’t like her and her form just gets worse and worse. Plus I’m over the old people . Time for new blood.

      • Case Says:

But she’s from Boston! Surely she can compete in 20 more Olympics. 😉

      • gymtruthteller Says:

That’s probably why I hope she goes away lol. She’s all over our news. I’m over it 🙂

      • Melanie Says:

Who cares about Worlds judges if Olympic judges love her? She has the Brestyan legs (i.e., an ability to stay relatively injury-free), and can’t compete in college, so why do anything else if she still likes training and competing?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Because the Olympics are over. The next 3-4 years are world judges and they don’t like Aly’s shit form and non existent execution. To put in 3 years of training for hopes at another Olympics Is senseless and let’s not forget Marta is no longer in charge. She can do what she wants and I can disagree with it. If Liukin takes over I don’t see Aly getting the free pass like she g0t for choking away world’s last year.

  109. H Says:

And there it is still room for 5 new gymnast:-) if she happens to make the team/ind. spot.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Out of this Olympic team I only really wanna see Laurie come back. Alys had her time…and I don’t know if the specialist thing would suit her because she’s really only world class on floor. I would think if she’s going to put in the training she will be going for AA and team as well. 4 years is a really long time …4 years ago I was thinking Kyla and Maroney would be in the running for these past games…

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I don’t know why people r all in arms over Aly wanting to continue to Tokyo. Now, if Gabby said, I would be suspicious since she barely wanted to do it this squad–Aly has rightful earned her spots on both teams.

I do find it curious that after London, she took a long time to talk about her future, yet here she talked about it much earlier. I don’t think Aly is the kind of person who bails out so perhaps that’s really is her goal.

Aly loves the team so I’m sure making the team is the goal so I’m sure she will keep AA. But I kind of wonder if she will now train a 2nd vault do if she misses the team, she can go as vault/floor specialist.

I really don’t think Simone is coming back. She seems happy with her achievements. Laurie will prob try to come back but I don’t think her body can handle it, especially if Valeri replaces Marta lol

I’ve loved Aly since 2009 so I’m so here for her comeback! I want a team of Aly and Norah so bad haha.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Because we all want what we want. This sport needs to change because I’m just not interested in what we are seeing. It’s boring. You thought this Olympics was exciting ? Watching Simone win everything ? ( deserved or not) watching the bad execution of everyone else ignored ? Watching Russia get token over scores to keep them happy because the idiot in charge only cares about keeping 2 Countries happy ? We have seen this for 3 straight Olympic cycles I am just fed up.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

The men were so much more exciting even with Kohei almost being screwed over.

      • lovelucas Says:

Thank you. I don’t understand the negative bolts about Aly either. Some of you say you want fresh blood yet you cheer the warriors who return from other countries. If she can do it, more power to her. And NO I do not believe she received any gifts on making the team and all around. She earned it. However, I don’t think her bars will ever get any better. An aside – the People mag people continue to focus on Gabby – front page, largest exposure inside plus very posed pic in purple and that wig. Simone? She gets a pic flying in the air on her vault but no face time. Very little on the other team members.

      • dianajc99 Says:

I could see aly as a v/fx specialist. she could add a second vault.

      • H Says:

I think Aly has potential to do a much better beam set. If she now use her time well to upgrade. She has the power to do more difficult skills that is not solely relaying on connections.

For some reason I think she should do a “Barani?” (like simone) isn’t that an E/G skill?

      • Gymbee Says:

On Facebook there are a lot of comments saying she should give someone else the chance. I don’t get that way of thinking – if you’re the best you should compete.
You never hear anyone saying that about Usain Bolt for instance “he should let some of the other Jamaicans try now”.

      • H Says:

        exactly Gymbee

  110. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Komova came back to the gym. It was on the news today, but I forget were I read it to put on the link.

  111. Exgymgurl Says:

Aimee did a feature article in people, likely a paid interview about Simone. Nothing seedy.

  112. dianajc99 Says:

Rom team back to Deva. Forminte in charge again. Cat,Lori and Bulimar to stay in Bucarsest

  113. Ilanchik20 Says:

I need Asac’s motivation. Doing crunches while holding a baby.

  114. Ilanchik20 Says:

Height difference between Ohashi and Kyja. Either Ohashi or Kyla grew a few more inches since stopping elite. Probably the latter lol.

  115. Ilanchik20 Says:

    Here is a link lol

  116. Exgymgurl Says:

Kyla admitted on ms Val’s periscope to being a lover 5’6″ so she’s probably a closer to 5’7″

  117. Exgymgurl Says:

A little over 5’6″ sorry… USAG still has her listed as like 5’2″

  118. Ilanchik20 Says:

I guess USAG I not letting oroszko tour the tour. Interesting, since he has always been their go-to star.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

He sounds like a spoiled brat. I dont blame them. You’re a walking injury. Why would they want to insure you for a thing like this? Good for USAG putting themselves before you, for once. I hope this means the overscoring and special treatment you get from the US judges is finally over too. So long Bozo. And yes I am this bitchy. The free pass he’s received and rarely if ever backed up over the last 8 years needed to stop eons ago. He needs to earn his place back on this team not be given a free 100 thou on what is virtually a dance show.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

The way that statement is written, it’s likely USA Gymnastics is trying to avoid him suing them. His last showing? is he just giving up now? Does this mean Mikulak gives up now too?

    • Lauren H Says:

I get that John only makes money through gymnastics, and that he probably wants/needs to be on the tour to make some cash, but he got injured barely 3 months ago. What kind of contribution did he think he would actually make…giants on high bar? He’d probably break his leg while getting off at some point. Time to take time away to recover for real, and reassess your life.

  119. Exgymgurl Says:

http://olympics.nbcsports.com/2016/07/14/gabby-douglas-knee-injury-crutches-gymnastics-olympics/ Here’s the BS. Question knee injury in November and on crutches and scam first weekend in March ?

  120. dianajc99 Says:

Ok what is the point of the nude bodysuits?

    • Lauren H Says:

The dancer(s) in Sia’s recent videos always wear nude bodysuits, so my guess is they were doing something similar here.

  121. Cupquaked Says:

Random thought while re watching 2013 American Cup…did Gabby have a lowkey nose job in recent years? Maybe it’s just bad camera angles and pre-sans puberty/baby fat etc but her face just looks different…

  122. Exgymgurl Says:

She had her teeth fixed probably with Invisalign so we never saw braces.

  123. Ilanchik20 Says:

Us Olympian files sexual harassment charges against us trainer/physician.

I can’t open it right now (work, ugh). Can someone read for details? Lol

    • Tortuga Says:

It looks to be accusing Larry Nasar and given context clues the victim that is filing is Jamie Danstzer 😦

      • dianajc99 Says:

Wow Imagine the level of grooming that led to someone believing that hips could be aligned trough an inter vaginal procedure.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Ewww…. Poor Jayme… Gosh…. My heart goes out to her and how many more. ?

      • Exgymgurl Says:

OMG their coach is named as complicit, maybe that’s why alter left the rybackis…… That means this happened to all of them. The only other 2000 Olympians living in ca are schweikert, maybe beckerman? Elise Ray is in WA, Amy chow is in ca also Dawes is east coast, Maloney is not in ca currently,

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I am going to personally attach my disclaimer to the signature of everyone of your posts. Please stop with the blanket accusations and using of names and bringing in names please. I need not to get sued. Thanks.

      • Tortuga Says:

It’s horrifying. Given Jamie’s outspoken personality I’m surprised she hadn’t come out with this sooner. But I’m glad she did. There’s no telling how many others there are. Lauren Hopkins said she thinks she knows someone from the last quad is about to come forward.

      • Mim Says:

I wish I could say these allegations surprise me, but they really don’t anymore unfortunately. In Australia, we are inundated with these types of news stories regularly as there is a national Royal Commission for Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and from what I see in my day-to-day work, child abuse is rife.. Sigh. There are no doubt more victims here and my heart goes out to all of them.

If someone is going to take action from the last quad (and I won’t speculate who it is because it is wrong though I have my inklings for whatever reason), I am very curious to see if they opt to take the criminal route along with the civil if it is available to them. Sending all the courage and positivity and love to this person.

That said, even if the allegations are just that, USAGym needs to overhaul its entire leadership team and get some new policies in consultation with experts and child safety authorities, like, yesterday. Forget damage control, just do the right thing as an organisation. This is not just a problem with alleged pedophiles, it is an institutional and cultural problem within this organisation that needs to be addressed.

      • dianajc99 Says:

Even if that the reason Atler lest it wouldn’t make a difference Nassar was the official USA Gymnastics doctor.

      • Ss Says:

Where did Lauren say someone from the last quad is probably coming forward? I haven’t seen that anywhere.

      • Tortuga Says:

Ss, I read it in a tumblr thread yesterday. I believe she meant 09-12 quad.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I saw it too, yesterday. I don’t want to speculate but I’m really hoping it’s not Jo or another Geddert gymnast. In addition to being the USAG Doctor, Nassar was on stuff at Geddert’s gym and remained so even after he “retired” from USAG last year. Sigh

    • Tortuga Says:

Sorry I shouldn’t have said names. I’m not trying to make blanket statements I just made guesses from context clues. Everyone can just read for themselves if they want to know.

  124. Exgymgurl Says:

Okay if you read the whole complaint it names a coach / national director as potentially knowing and also as residing in California. This doesn’t mean the coach committed a sexual violation, it means the coach had reasonable knowledge and should have reported. Only two of the 2000 girls coaches are California residents…

  125. Exgymgurl Says:

http://www.indystar.com/story/news/2016/09/12/former-usa-gymnastics-doctor-accused-abuse/89995734/?utm_content=buffer46cc8&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer Okay now there are names in the press and a second victim

  126. dianajc99 Says:

USA Gym is trying to cover its ass right now, but it was pointed out after he resigned no info was given to member clubs so he continued to work for Twistars

  127. dianajc99 Says:

You know when the indy star report first came out I would defend USA Gym. Stating we were not Penn State. But if the Nassar thing is true we might be a little worse.

  128. Gymnast41 Says:

How was Laurie on DWTS? Anyone watch?

  129. dianajc99 Says:

  130. dianajc99 Says:

  131. Exgymgurl Says:

So Russian hackers created fake steroid justified use certificates for biles and Williams on WADA servers.
