than disappear and don’t give them anymore to talk about!!

    • tennisgrl456 Says:

Why should she disappear simply bc many of the people from T&T would have rather seen Thema compete? It’s not like she has no connections to the country and had any part in “taking” Thema’s spot. She may have been born in Canada but she has dual citizenship and her mother is from T&T.

  2. sanitynmotion Says:

I hope Simone gets gold on vault and Kocian silver or bronze with Musty winning gold on bars.
Gabby deserves to go to Gabby who? Land now.

  3. Ilanchik20 Says:

    This is Steve Legendre. Wild.

  4. Guest Says:

Just hope the bars final result is
    Gold- Musty
    Silver- Kocian
    Bronze- Spi or Shang

    Gabby who?

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

I really want Shang to get a medal but judges don’t seem to like her bars.

Lucky for us: Gabby goes 2nd, I doubt her score would hold up.

If Kocian gets gold, at least Nastia won’t be have to claim her bars being highest u.s placement anymore. But I still say, Musty for the win.

    • Uglyfatkid Says:

I would be happy with these placements. 🙂

Actually, the only thing I really care about is Gabby not placing. I don’t care if there is a 7 way tie for gold…just as long as Gabby doesn’t get a medal. I want her to fail…and fail hard. After her bullshit during the AA, I am so over it. I don’t even care anymore…I hated her before…but now I SUPER hate her. What a petty jealous bitch. I’m so glad NBC showed that coverage to the WHOLE DAMN COUNTRY!

We all knew it…but we now we have proof. Jordyn is 100 times the woman she will ever be.

      • Guest Says:

Gabby may start to regret she goes to Rio. No only she acts like a free-rider in the team, she also loses the class and reputation and receives overwhelming criticisms and hates.

Simone Biles is crowned the GOAT and Aly is the greatest captain of the team history. I think Gabby never imagines her fame and glory of 4 years ago fades in such a ugly, disgraceful way.

      • lovelucas Says:

That’s what I was thinking ….finally the world can see just what and who Gabby is…selfish, shallow and only cares about Gabby. Didn’t even try to hide it. She acted like a toddler pouting and refusing to engage in anything because she wasn’t the star. And the cameras rolled.

  5. Ss Says:

Judging by the scoring so far I think Kocian gets gold if she judges seem to be all over her style. But who knows, maybe we’ll have another 4-way tie and then deal with a tiebreaker, ugh.

  6. dianajc99 Says:

I would like to see one of the Germans get a medal/

    • RocĂo MartĂnez LĂłpez Says:

Me too. I would like for it to be Aliya, Shang and Seitz/Schreder. I like Schreder’s bars but I have a soft spot for Seitz since I saw her competing the skill that made Emile Le Pennec famous, specially in a time when everything in the UB seemed to be made of turns. I noticed she took it out as of late, but it gave her a lot of deduction, so I understand. But I would like for her to medal.

    • Cee Says:

I LOVE Seits’s Def! So exciting! I really prefer the explosive routines, like that one and Tweddle’s and He’s in London.

  7. lovelucas Says:

Agree with majority sentiments/wishes about bars, Simone, Aly and Gabby – did anyone else see the write up in US Weekly? Everyone else is positive, excited, optimistic about their experience – but Gabby “never heads into a competition without a bible session with Mom” – Sorry if this offends anyone but that is so fake I want to puke. Simone: We like being with each other while we’re getting ready and we’ll play music but Gabby likes to be a little bit more by herself That’s her style and it works for her, so we don’t mess wit her.”

  8. tennisgrl456 Says:

Unless something goes seriously wrong, Musty and Kocian are going to go 1-2…the only question is who will get gold and who will get silver. I have no problem with Kocian winning IF Mustafina makes mistakes/misses connections. If they both have a TF-esque performance, the gold should go to Aliya.

Based on the scoring thus far, I just can’t see Shang winning a medal. If Spiri gets her maximum D score then she should get the bronze but I wouldn’t put it past the judges to give it to GD.

As far as vault, the chance of gold and silver going to anyone besides Biles and Hong is highly unlikely. Paseka is Paseka and it wouldn’t shock me if she took so many steps on one of her vaults that she practically falls onto the judges. My fingers are crossed for Steingruber. No one else really has a shot at the medals.

  10. Exgymgurl Says:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/rogergroves/2016/08/12/the-endorsement-value-of-olympians-named-simone/#14b804b06c93 This explains the power of Simone, and not someone else.

  11. JAS4 Says:

It will be interesting to see if anyone throws the upgraded vaults!

    • tulip Says:

I am really interested in this too. Will Hong try and land the triple? Will Steingruber finally get a medal and what will she compete? IMHO she deserved the bronze in London over Paseka. Prudanova landed? I watch that through my fingers.

Lots to ponder least of which is: will Simone see gold #3? From a form perspective, she and Guilia rule but sv may tell a different story. We’ll see

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Not song about Hong but Giulia said she doesn’t plan to do 2/1 cause she is preventing any injury for floor finals. Hasn’t trained her vault in Rio.

        Mope Chuso lands the Prod.

  12. RocĂo MartĂnez LĂłpez Says:

That men floor final had unexpected results for sure.

  13. RocĂo MartĂnez LĂłpez Says:

    Go, Chuso!

  14. RocĂo MartĂnez LĂłpez Says:

15.400 for Hong in her first vault.

  15. RocĂo MartĂnez LĂłpez Says:

Hong attempted the TTY. She landed it but then sit down. Her E score will suffer, but she will be credited for it, I think.

  16. RocĂo MartĂnez LĂłpez Says:

Suck, Hong got the TTY devalued to an Amanar. 14.9 average.

  17. Guest Says:

Hong tried TTY but the difficulty score is not approved.

  18. RocĂo MartĂnez LĂłpez Says:

Chuso is going to attempt the Prod!

  19. tulip Says:

    Chuso doing the prudo

  20. RocĂo MartĂnez LĂłpez Says:

14.933 for Chuso in her first vault.

  21. RocĂo MartĂnez LĂłpez Says:

Giulia has a real shot at the medals now. Go, Giulia!

  22. G Says:

Dipa sat it down I think, wonder if the judges saw though, she stood up quick.

  23. tulip Says:

    Another prudo coming up Dipa

    Did she land it?

    15.266 in 2nd

  24. RocĂo MartĂnez LĂłpez Says:

Paseka has a really weird about her today. Like if she was ill or something. Was she limping after her first vault?

  25. tulip Says:

Paseka way overscored on 1st vault went outside lines and still got 15.266

    Paseka in lead overscored

  26. tulip Says:

    Simone 15.9 first

    Land Cheng for gold

  27. RocĂo MartĂnez LĂłpez Says:

Chuso was presented with an appreciation video for her carreer. She really deserves it. She didn’t have her best final, but that woman has balls of steel for sure.

  28. H Says:

    Congratulation Guilia!

    Chuso amazing attempt!

  29. Guest Says:

Biles wins first ever Vault gold for US. Now US captured all kinds of champions in Women Gymnastics.

  30. RocĂo MartĂnez LĂłpez Says:

Let’s pay a little tribute to Produnova and her original vault, attempted twice today and who no one else has done remotely like her:

    • dianajc99 Says:

      nobody’s come close to that!!

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

And that’s on an old hourse too!

      • G Says:

Honestly, people need to stop competing it if they can’t land it confidently. It’s just a joke to get such a high score even if you sit it down.

      • Guest Says:

I think the deduction of vault should be harsher in bad landing / sit down.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Nadour wins bronze. Who would have thought! Lol

      • RocĂo MartĂnez LĂłpez Says:

The problem is the current code. They know they get much more if they attempt a difficult skill, even if they don’t do it remotely well, than if they do others perfectly well but without so much D-Score. If the FIG really wants to put a stop to this, they should put more weight behind the E-score so the gymnasts will still want to present difficult skills but they won’t get such a high scores if they don’t perform them very well, in my opinion. But in this dictatorship of the difficulty, the falls will be the norm.

      • Gymbee Says:

They are downgrading it in the new code I think, if it’s sat down it will count as a single somersault.

    • JAS4 Says:

It looks like she gets most of her power from the spring board and she blocks quickly and goes right into the rotation. The ones being done now seem to do the opposite and try to get more power from the block but it doesn’t work as well

  31. dianajc99 Says:

    no man buns!!

  32. Exgymgurl Says:

MR Hollie Vise only medal for the men WOOT!!! GO Leyva!!!! Poor Sam mikulak and make dalton who were sure to medal on floor finish sixth and eighth. I would have tears but I don’t like the way MAG has their specific golden boys. So proud and happy for Alex and Hollie!!!

  33. lovelucas Says:

Why are they praising Gabby so much? AGAIN???

  34. lovelucas Says:

Now they just said Gabby is as good as the other 3 prospects for Gold.

  35. dianajc99 Says:

    USA bias..

  36. Akshay Says:

    Gabby’s medal is gone.

  37. dianajc99 Says:

  38. Guest Says:

Gabby needs to live with disappointment again.

  39. lovelucas Says:

Gawd – Musty is beautiful..and so are her bars

  40. tulip Says:

Musty good god! Nearly perfect big smile

  41. G Says:

I think Maddie going to do it. Ah well

  42. dianajc99 Says:

    toes did Maddie in

  43. tulip Says:

Kocian sticks dismount , few missed handstands

    Love the leo!

  44. G Says:

    Spiri’s off…

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

The arena announcer “Mustafina is ready to celebrate but we don’t know anything yet”

    • tulip Says:

      Musty repeats
      Kocian silver
      Schader bronze

The Seitz leo hurts my eyes. It looked like the bars weren’t sturdy enough during her routine they shook more than I’ve seen in ages

  45. Exgymgurl Says:

No bars medal for gabby :-p. She remains the only aa gold medalist without an event medal…

  46. dianajc99 Says:

Hey I got my Bars wish!!

  47. Gymbee Says:

Here we are again with the bullying. Natalie has told media Gabby is being bullied.

    • tulip Says:

Haha I just said that jokingly

Who does she thinks is bullying her? The judges? Marta who put her on the team undeserving? It’s never her fault is it?

    • tulip Says:

This may be the only time in my life I wish I were on social media social I could tell her exactly why she’s wrong, what real bullying looks like and that Gabby did herself in by not putting her routine together. It’s that simple but I wouldn’t actually do that.

Could mom be freaking out about the lost future earnings and she’s setting the stage for the excuse filled Oprah exclusive interview ? When you put all your eggs in one basket (your daughter) there’s always a chance they could break.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

This needs a link for me to read. All I have seen is the girls go out of their way to include her and if Natalie means the media she needs to wake up. Her daughters bad attitude is getting called out that is no bullying.

      • tulip Says:

She’ll never wake up because it’s never their fault. They are persecuted. Attacked. Everyone else is jealous.

Here’s the thing I never fail to see. The only gymnast who has non-stop drama and controversy is Gabby. No one else comes with that. I honestly don’t think I have ever seen or heard this much unpleasantness from a gymnast.

Dying to know how she’ll be received on the tour

      • Gymbee Says:

        Here’s the link: http://mobile.reuters.com/article/us-olympics-rio-agymnastics-douglas-bull-idUSKCN10P0M6?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=Social

She is saying if people know what Gabby had gone through they wouldn’t ask why she’s not smiling, but she won’t bring that story up now….. Ok.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

If she thinks she will make this Olympics about Gabby if she cries racism she is sadly mistaken. This Olympics is all about Simone and nothing she can do will change that. Simone is our saving grace and I hope she doesn’t turn into Gabby part 2. Gabby used to say Carly was the gymnast she looked up to until she strayed playing the race card and changed it to Dawes and went on Oprah amd claimed racesim etc… I don’t think Simone’s parents are like that. Don prove me wrong Biles family.

      • Gymbee Says:

That’s just the thing tulip! It’s the endless stream of drama they bring. Don’t they see it comes from themselves?! She’s hinting at people being racist this time, but Twitter is responding that it’s black people calling her out too. And that not a bad word is spoken of Simone.
None of the other gymnasts have all this drama following them. Simone could easily have had it if she didn’t have such smart, grounded parents (with the whole being adopted thing and the Ferlito racist comment).

      • tulip Says:

If this trick think she has complaints, she can go read the suicide note that a 13 year old boy recently left his family detailing physical and emotional bullying by classmates. This was ironically a very sad headline that was posted right around the time Natalie and her whiny interview was published. Natalie and Gabby Inc can stfu and get some perspective.

They had their moment. Most don’t ge Olympic gold x3 and the riches that can follow. Be proud of the accomplishments. In the meantime, the boy and his family will never get to see his potential and have the opportunity to pursue his passions.

Their golden goose may have crapped out the last $$. Big deal. Go get jobs. The rest of us do this every day and live within our means and don’t blame the world when things don’t go our way.

        Rant finished

      • Case Says:

Tulip I want to like your post 1000 times.

  48. lovelucas Says:

Disagree with 3rd and 4th place but otherwise – great bar finals.

  49. dianajc99 Says:

way to trough shad at ger courtney

  50. Exgymgurl Says:

This is Gabbys third chance at a bar medal including worlds last year she’s 0 for 3…. That’s all because of bullying?

  51. Gymnast41 Says:

Once a choker, always a choker

    • dianajc99 Says:

the only true choke was today..her bars just aren’t top 5 in the world.

      • tulip Says:

She choked London beam and floor finals plus today if I am correct

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Rhonda posted multiple pictures of Kocian. Going off to training for the event finals and I d9nt ever seeing one of Gabby going to training. I wonder if she even practiced much for these event if finals. I know for a fact she didn’t 4 years ago she was iut doing interviews for her AA win . Hate to break it to her but the black community is going to love Simone like she’s the second coming of Michael Jordan they wont even remember Gabby.

      • dianajc99 Says:

on bars I mean..she was a fx finalist in london?

      • tulip Says:

Oops sorry I meant bars and beam

  52. H Says:

Happy for Kocian. I think they got the podium right, but bronze for Seitz would also have been great. I think she was short on one of the handstands, and she didn’t seem totally pleased with her own performace

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

I feel bad for Locklear. Even with lower difficulty, she could have gotten the bronze.

    • H Says:

and I am really impressed by Kocian. She has good competition nerves. She does her best routine in EF final, has only one event to hit (lots of waiting, never get the chance to vent out nerves through any other event, but hit bars consistently. I also thinks she has improved in form. Great job!

    • Exgymgurl Says:

I think Kocian is off to ucla so there’s definite room for Locklear on the 2017 world team

  53. Akshay Says:

Here’s a link to Natalie Hawkins’ comments:

    • tulip Says:

And there it is… the race card. Nice job Natalie.

I also noticed when mentioning the military family, no mention that Gabbys Father is also serving. More greatness from Natalie

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Mommy was just caught in a lie. He is Gabby 4 wading stuff about herself if she is no allowed on line or hwr phone when Aly said she got a very nice text from Gabby about the AA. I se whitey is getting blamed
She needs to pay better attention MANY races have made comments about her bad attitude and Natalie sounds like she’s got her excuse for Gabby’s bad behavior already made up. Bo one is buying it lady. Nice try though

      • Exgymgurl Says:

I still think Aly just said that about the text to be diplomatic. I don’t think it was real. I think Gabbys mom spent all her $$. They spent a lot producing their own reality show, and her only problem now is that coach grabby pants maybe is going back to his wife? Or that there’s fixing to be a huge scandal because they are getting married or she’s pregnant. Or she has degenerative bone disease or someone in her family has cancer and then will be miraculously cured.

    • lovelucas Says:

How can she play the race card when Simone is part of the team?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Simple . People like her always have to blame someone else. It’s never their fault. Just be glad she messed up or they would have gifted her that bronze.

      • tulip Says:

This is an extremely diverse team in both strengths and background. It’s well balanced, although 2 bars specialists was not needed.

Natalie is probably desperate for excuses and will say anything. And she had to know that if you want to shut people up, just claim racism and no one else will dare question it. Conversation finished.

      • JAS4 Says:

It sounded like in that interview she was eluding to something else when she kept talking about if they knew what Gabby was dealing with. I hope they don’t try to smear the team. Or run a smear campaign for $ if the sponsors dry up. If she wants any $ at all she needs to play nice with the team because that’s where her chances for $ are.

      • Akshay Says:

“They keep attacking her about not smiling but they don’t know what she is dealing with. If they did, this would not be a conversation. They would (understand). But this is not the time or place to tell that story,” said Hawkins

Natalie Hawkins said something similar when Gabby’s injury was announced pre-Rio. So I think JAS4 is spot on — it sounds like she’s eluding to something else.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

110% there will be a “tell all” regarding Gabbys comeback experience…either this year or the next Olympic period and it will throw mighty shade at anyone and everyone. Wouldn’t be surprised if team USA was accused of bullying Gabby and leaving her out.
This will all be ghost written by Natalie.
Gabbys attitude was abysmal and everyone noticed. She’s no longer marketable and has been replaced by a much better, more humble gymnast who also happens to be black. So bye bye Natalie and company, time to get a job!
In a way thank God Simone is black because Natalie would have all kinds of fake ammo if she were white.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

        Eluding ro more lies

      • gymnerd Says:

Does anyone else just find this sad? Gabby has totally done this to herself (I’m sure Laurie was disappointed as well, but had the brains to fake it), but she couldn’t have screwed this up worse if she’d tried. And I hate the whole “bullying” card.

    • Guest Says:

Race card is no longer working because there is a well beloved black girl Simone.

      • tulip Says:

And her sour attitude is the source of the comments. Bad behavior is race neutral. Everyone is capable of it and everyone is welcome to call it out

  54. tulip Says:

Wonder if Marta is going to have to justify taking Gabby now? Hope the questions come fast and furious.

With the vault form today, Skinner could have medaled

    • Guest Says:

Ashton and Mykayla may be happy with that result now at least karma restored.

      • gymnerd Says:

Yeah, I thought of them earlier today. I don’t think they’re very happy though – probably more like furious. Mykayla is probably photoshopping herself onto the vault podium even as we speak. 😉

  55. H Says:

I think Gabby was fighting well in her EF routine.
Under probably a lot of pressure. Except for that one mistake, I think she did very well. And considering where she is in her comeback process she has not had any other major mistakes during this Olympics.

I really hoped she could go error free today, but things happens.

    Over all good job!

Anyone agreeing with me here (finding some balance)?

  56. Gymnast41 Says:

Do you know how embarrassing gabby’s mistake was on an Olympic stage? Like if I were the person in charge of the national team I would ask her to not even come back. It doesn’t look like she plans to though. Her interview she clearly said “I’ve got nothing for you.” Which by all means hint that she’s done with the sport and the negativity. Can’t blame her though.

Would’ve thought Natalie would shut her mouth, but obviously she will continue. I wouldn’t be surprised if she does a tell-all after the Olympics are over. Bragging about how her daughter is the former Olympic champ whose feelings were hurt and it hindered her performance boo hoo hoo. She might even bring up the injury too and how it resurfaced during the year. All I know is, the more Natalie talks the less people would defend gabby. The more she makes it about race, the more stupid it makes her look. Like hello? Simone???

  57. Dee2 Says:

Of course none of us know what it is like to be Gabby. It sounds like her mother is making her life miserable and I do feel for her in that respect. Who knows what bs her head is being filled with and maybe that is one reason why she is having a hard time meshing with the other gymnasts?

I did notice, when Madison’s score came up and it was lower than Aliya’s, Gabby had the only smile I have seen on her face since they won the gold medal. I have wonder what that was about.

  58. dianajc99 Says:

was this supposed to be sarcastic?? I honestly don’t know.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Sounds like she’s a Gabby apologist.

Dont worry in a few days well hear the real story of how Gabby was mistreated and how everyone is racist.

    • tennisgrl456 Says:

I follow her on tumblr…100% NOT sarcastic.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

That is the girl that sells shirts and makes money off gymnasts images right ? I am pretty sure like most bloggers she spends more time ass kissing the gymnast than being honest. Who really cares what a stalker thinks ? This is why I don’t read tumble anymore amd only follow very few twitters. Lol

    • Tortuga Says:

She’s a Gabby stan, totally not sarcastic. I’m sure Sparklesandchalk and had something similar to say.

  59. tennisgrl456 Says:

The people who are making comments about Gabby that are based on her race are completely out of line. That being said, the whole “bullying” narrative that her mom-ager is trying to create makes me sick to my stomach.

Gabby has MILLIONS of adoring fans around the world, has had remarkable success at the Olympics (I mean, you can’t shit on 3 gold, and I’m NOT a fan of hers at all), and CHOSE to go pro/make this her job for the time being. Their is a huge fucking difference between making critical or negative observations about a public figure who is making a substantial amount of money off of being in the lime light and “bullying.” Some people take it too far but having your every move critiqued is the price that you pay when you are a professional athlete. It’s not like Gabby is being torn down in the media and getting nothing in return. She has made enough money to support her entire family for YEARS as a result of her endorsements, which have been made available to her bc SHE chooses to be a public figure. This is her job and the consumers/critics are the people who keep the $$ rolling in. She may have more people on her ass about things than your average Joe but she also is bringing in a hell of a lot more money. I could only imagine the reaction I would get if I told the people I work for that they were being “bullies” anytime the things they had to say about me were anything less than stellar.

GD is not a child anymore, she is a grown ass woman. She is responsible for her own actions and has to take ownership of the repercussions of her attitude. She could totally avoid any negative publicity if she simply chose to drop out of the limelight, but that would mean no more $$$ coming in from sponsors. When your mommy runs to the presses and talks about how mean people are being it only makes you look like an incompetent fool.

  60. Exgymgurl Says:

Let’s pause from ranting on gabby and take a moment to reflect that Simone is the only USA WAG gold medalist on vault ever. And that she now has more combined world and Olympic medals than Shannon Miller. And she has two more opportunities in one fewer Olympics than what Shannon had, and only three trips to worlds.

    • tennisgrl456 Says:

She’s truly incredible, and it’s not just because of her extraordinary talent for the sport. There are plenty of super talented gymnasts out there who never come close to this level of success bc they lack the ability to compete with such composure and grace. She’s also been perfectly paced and not thrown skills simply bc she has the ability to do so. She new she would need the Cheng for 2016 and could have easily competed it a couple of years ago but the people working with her had the end game in mind. If your goal is Olympic gold than why risk injury/burnout to bump your WC result up one or two slots?

    • gymtruthteller Says:

And can we talk about how the Soviets have been dead for 20 years and no one has even been trained in their system anymore or we can talk about how this Olympics was the weakest of all Olympics of all time even 2008. Simone deserve everything she gets but this Olympics has been boring as hell because there is no competition anymore. Simone’s power is why she is where she is and this code only Cares about that. Back in the day you needed more than great tumbling to win.

      • Gymnast41 Says:

Vault EF was just about the most boring thing ever. And NBC didn’t even show Hong? Crazy. I can imagine the ratings for gymnastics being lower this time around with both the lack of competition and crappy coverage

They also skipped Shang on bars and someone else but I don’t remember who. This Olympics is so boring. From the so called hate against Gabby which was like 3 articles with a bunch of losers defending HER bad behavior to Simone winning all the gold medals ( even tho she will forever be the saving grace of my lifetime) it’s not even worth putting the TV on to see who won. Which I actually haven’t done much except tonight ( thanks NBColympics.com ) and the people defending Gabby’s bad behavior are why I quit social media years ago.

Chuso says that we will see her next year at worlds. Love this woman!

Delighted for Aliya, but I missed the final, so I’ll try to catch up tomorrow.

  64. Akshay Says:

Al just left out Gabby when listing “the greats.”

    That’s… interesting.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

He also didn’t mention Miller who apparently doesn’t exist

      • JAS4 Says:

Maybe he is used to the Marta Era and not being able to mention her lol

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I am still convinced they have a class on how to never mention Shannon Miller’s name lol

      • JAS4 Says:

Maybe Marta has them chased by one of the animals on the ranch or shoves them in an ice bucket every time they mention her name

    • JAS4 Says:

Maybe they’ve been told to not mention her if possible because of all the controversy

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Lol this is NBC they create controversy

      • JAS4 Says:

True but maybe it’s too much for even NBC lol

      • dianajc99 Says:

when did Miller create any controversy?

      • Katie Says:

When she stole the show from Kimbo in 92. The Karolyis have never gotten over it.
Which was always strange to me how Marta treated Jordyn in 2012. Their whole argument in 1992 was that Kim was reigning World Champ and deserved more respect from the judges and to be given the benefit of the doubt. The 92 trials was screwy how Shannon won and the Karolyi’s blamed that on messing with Kim’s head going into Barcelona and that threw her off her game. Bela had meltdowns over it.

But Jordyn was reigning world champ in 2011 and Marta did not “respect” that. You would think someone who felt so passionately about that type of situation when they were a coach would not sabotage the reigning world champ. I used to think that the only reason that Jordyn kept those connections in was Geddert and his ego and that Marta and the national team staff must have been begging him to rearrange her beam routine. But then in that recent interview she did she said that Marta thought her connections were good! And there’s just no way Marta really thought that.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Well, it’s many years later and I don’t think Marta cared about Jordyn. Maybe Bela might have. It seemed to me someone was setting Jordyn’s demise up anyways because Gabby was getting those gifts at Trials (in 2012) and workhorse Aly was coming on strong.
I don’t think there was a 2 per country rule either when Kimbo was at the Olympics…that came after Romania swept the podium in 2004.

I blame Geddert for Jordyn’s beam connections. He had an ego when it came to Jordyn; didn’t believe Jordyn needed to “keep up” or have more upgrades he was comfortable in her positioning for at least 2 years. I remember commentators saying how Geddert was boasting that he wished the Olympics were “now” because Jordyn’s ready. Well great – but it means you’re not pacing her correctly and he refused to look at the great hints about those beam connections. He should have realized they wouldn’t work and changed up that routine. He didn’t because he was so confident that Jordyn was going to be making it to the AA no matter what and then it ended up biting him in the ass.

  65. Mim Says:

I thought the vault final was great. Hong’s attempt at the TTY was great and even though she wasn’t credited for it, I’m glad she gave it a go. Chuso’s last (most likely) Olympics. Dipa being there for India is an achievement no matter what you think of her prod. Giulia finally won an Olympic medal (even though she should have been silver) and Simone kicked ass.

I was also really happy with the bars podium and overall result (although damn Spiridonova for falling because otherwise Gabby would have been last, ha).
