Test Event Videos

Thanks Rocío for finding them.

Okay so lets discuss how this routine is even allowed? Every move is a turn or a turn combination. The judges need to find a way to stop this from happening. In the past I have called Sanne Weavers  interesting but this was over kill. If you can’t do two piked full in’s in a floor routine they need to find a way where only 1 or 2 turns total should count. She has a 6.4 start value for this.

Beam Event Finals Results

Floor Event Finals Results

Flavia slayed her floor final with great landings and a routine I am sure will satisfy the every 4 year fans looking for a new gymnast to go Gaga over.

Uneven Bar Event Finals Results

Perhaps the most impressive routine I have seen so far from this Test Event belongs to Elisabeth Seitz on bars. 6.6 start value. Pretty decent form (minus the pak) and very good  handstands. This was as good if not better than the routines that won bars at last years Worlds.

Vault Event Finals Results

Not a fan of this vault and never will be. Unless someone learns to do this vault like Prod I don’t want to see this winning Event Finals. They need to start adding deductions that add up if you are going to attempt to even try this vault in competition. It’s not fair to a gymnast doing 2 real vaults to have this be allowed to get credit. The gym world is lucky I am not in charge. Dipa Karmakar ‘s Prod. 8.1 in execution errors and still gets a 15.100. There needs to be even more deductions. Invent some.

Anna Sofia Gomez on beam. Liked this routine. It’s too bad she messed up in event finals.

Catalina Ponor on  Floor routine. 5.9 start value. Not bad for an old lady. The smile on her face at the end says it all. I bet she was thrilled to get through this routine,

  1. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Thanks to you, GTT. And please, don’t call Cata “old lady”. I know she is very old for this sports’ standards, but she is only a year older than me and makes me feel old too, hehe.

  2. Melanie Says:

I think that was the cleanest routine I’ve ever seen from Seitz. I usually hate her form on bars – something about how far apart her arms are on every cast handstand. But this routine seems to work very well for her.

  3. Ilanchik20 Says:

I know lots of people love Weavers and I do think her dance is pretty but this is artistic gymnastics, not artistic dance. At least when Aliya does complex turns, she also a high enough tumbling difficulty.

And perhaps I’m biased but I much rather watched super hard tumbling than super hard turns. And her new routine to Shindler’s list music is all wrong to me anyways.

If I wanted to watch hard turns, I’d go watch ballet or rhythmic but I don’t. Sorry for the rant.

    • G Says:

I agree with you. I can absolutely appreciate nice dance but it only has a place in the sport alongside tumbling, not in instead of.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

If a routine starts with a double pike or tuck I stop watching. I am the artistic gymnastics fan. I almost always prefer the artistic gymnast over the acrobat but when it comes to gymnasts only dancing I agree with you. Hollie Vise was a beautiful dancer but she could do a full in. Nastia couldn’t tumble at all backwards and yet while both were considered artistic I couldn’t sit through Nastia and her arm waving. That isn’t artistic to me.

Wevers beam is what I found annoying. 4 , 5 different turns. If I can’t have two full ins in a routine because they are both piked then a beam routine shouldn’t allow that many code whoring turns.

      • Uglyfatkid Says:

Ha ha. I totally agree about the turns. But I have to give her credit, that beam routine is at least unique. If I see one more tired ass sissone to switch leap (or vise versa) combo I’m going to kill myself.

I also think if everyone else can code whore the hell out of everything…why not her? If Nastia can pirouette 873 times in a bar routine in her quad…I say she should go for 67 turns on beam in this quad. If the code allows it…do it. Everyone code whores to some extent, and you really would be stupid not too. Biles is taking advantage of the code where she can, and I think she is smart to do so. Always play to your strengths and what will give you the most points.

For the record…I think the 45 turns on beam are boring and show that she isn’t a well-rounded gymnast. But what the hell…at least it’s different. I also have to give her credit for her connections. Her side aerial, side aerial, front aerial was good until she fumbled the end. And her chain sequence of 4 moves toward the end was done well (I don’t know if I’d count the leap though). Most gymnasts couldn’t connect things that well. So props to that. Oh…I also liked her mount. Finally…someone is doing something other than walking up and getting on in some boring and uninspired fashion.

HOWEVER…What does bug the shit out of me (and that I can’t find anything positive about)…is that lame ass gainer layout dismount. Whomever decided that was a D level dismount needs to be taken out back and shot. Seriously? THAT is a level D? My fat ass can barely walk from the couch to the fridge without getting winded, but I’m pretty sure I could do that dismount. In fact, I think I HAVE done that dismount when I fell down the stairs a few years ago. My form probably wasn’t as good, but for a fatty like me I think it counts. Plus, if Skinners piked “layed out” double double gets counted as layed out…so should mine.

Wait…I just realized that she never did a leap series. I thought that was a requirement? Does her 73 turns somehow fulfill that requirement (because they are also “dance” elements)? Does anyone know? Gymbot?

In the end, the travesty lies with the code. GTT is right…there needs to be limits. But until there is…I say whore it up!

      • Gymbot Says:

HI uglyfatkid, there isn’t a leap series requirement on beam, just a connection of dance elements where one is a leap with 180 split. She fills the requirement using the double turn pirouette into a split leap at the end of her three turn combo. She adds a leap after the switch leap at the end of her routine if she misses the first dance requirement

  4. Gymbot Says:

I liked this routine by Ana Perez

A mix of tumbling, but all enjoyable to watch with near Kyla Ross execution. The choreography is also pretty good, all of the movement is connected to something else.

On Wevers beam, I like it. She has a daring mount, her acro combination is actually connected, and she shows beautiful pirouettes when many other gymnast fail to hold their leg above horizontal on one turn or chronically over rotate a single pirouette but never think to work it into choreography. On the gainer dismount I agree, and so does the FIG or they wouldn’t be downgrading it.

Interestingly, while the emphasis on this routine is the pirouettes she gets most of her 6.4 difficulty from 5 D acro elements.

    • Rocío Martínez López Says:

Ana rocks! If she doesn’t have any injuries, she will be the Spanish gymnastic’s representative in Rio.🙂

    • Melanie Says:

Gymbot, I’m with you. I like Wevers because she is unique. If everyone were code-whoring with turns, I probably wouldn’t like it so much, but she seems to be the only one capable of doing so many difficult turns. Now on floor, I’m not crazy about the two-pass routines. There should at least be 3 passes, in my opinion. Then again, I’m not going to complain when we get routines like Eythora Thorsdottir’s. I can watch that routine again and again.

      • gymbot Says:

I’d really like a three pass minimum as well… They didn’t fix that in the new 2017 code, unfortunately…. They did however, get rid of front aerials and side aerials counting as front tumbling, so maybe there will be a greater diversity in passes at least.

  5. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Larissa has published in her Twitter that her fingers are completely recovered and she is back to full training🙂

    • gymbot Says:

Fingers crossed Romania does the right thing and protects her til the Olympics

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

Yes, finger crossed. I have heard that Romania team’s representatives are going to have a press conference tomorrow, but I don’t know what is that about. It could be about the Test Event, the new coaches, the team for the Europeans or about nothing of this at all.

  6. Rocío Martínez López Says:

And Osijek Cup is this weekend. Supposedly, Russia is sending Kharenkova, Seda and Kapitonova to choose between the three of them the last spot for the European Championships. Komova is not officially out of the picture, but all the signs pinpoint that she is too injuried to attend, even if they reserve the last spot for her until the last day.

  7. Exgymgurl Says:

http://www.etonline.com/news/187428_zac_efron_and_sami_miro_split_after_nearly_2_years/ And just in time for Simone to get distracted😉

  8. Ilanchik20 Says:

Looks like Kocian is back in training. I’m really not a fan of her form on bars.

  9. Exgymgurl Says:

Kocian has been training she’s just in a boot and can only train bars no landings

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

I guess, maybe I don’t know enough but how do you train, if you can’t put weight on your ankle? What if you fall off bars and you are not suppose to put weight on it? Lol.

She also jumped off at the end of the video so I assumed that meant she is back to full-time training–I guess, maybe not.

    • Mim Says:

I wonder how are they going to keep Madison healthy through Classics, Nationals, Trials, Death Training Camps pre-Olympics, and the Olympics….

      Is Locklear less injury prone?

      • Exgymgurl Says:

You just can’t take hard landings. Typically they do bars over the foam pit in case they fall so you don’t land on your ankle

  10. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Following Kleine Kleon’s report on Romania’s press conference, it seems that Romanian Gymnastics officials are stupider than I thought. This doesn’t seem to have a good solution. In find much more interesting what Laura Jurca’s father had to say about the situation: http://www.wogymnast.com/2016/04/laura-jurcas-father-blames-romanian.html.

  11. Guest Says:

Aly met Shawn in interview of People.

  12. sanitynmotion Says:

I still feel like Kocian isn’t good enough at bars internationally to justify taking up a whole Olympic spot. Her win last year was a fluke. And she has no other events to rely on.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I agree but that being said she competes the AA and Kutcher there is useless on every event but one. They don’t need a bar specialist anyway. Simone, Gabby and Laurie or Maggie or Ragan or whomever makes the team will be good enough.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I prefer Locklear’s bars a million. She always hits and has better form.

I actually think they could use a bars specialist, especially if the vault remains as is. They don’t have as much buffer from vault as they have in the past, unless Marta takes Skinner but then they’d def need a bars person lol.

Actually, I would leave Gabby at home and take Kocian and Locklear lol.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Notba fan of either one event gymnasts but I could deal with that:)

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Any gymnast who succeeds in leaving Gabby at home/not in Rio…is going to be the new hero. But let’s face it, it won’t happen. Not unless she’s injured and if she can half train through Marta’s death camps, she won’t get injured.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Or if she eats her way through California like you people keep saying she is doing.lol

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I’m in CA. I need to find her and start force feeding her donuts and pie.

      • Case Says:

        Get on it, Sanity!

  13. dianajc99 Says:

    so funny..includes Nastia hating.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

This is awesome. The ASac thigh rubbing and Aly kicking a doggie door…lol. And Skinner’s …boob stab. I wish I was as clever.

    • Tortuga Says:

Oh my gosh, I’m dying. The one about MyKayla Skinner is hilarious. “Squash a tomato. Throw it under your armpit. Repeat until dead, is a personal favorite.”

  14. Ilanchik20 Says:

What the F is Nastia wearing? I give up lol

    • gymtruthteller Says:

She had work done. I don’t even know that face anymore and OMG, It says she was styled by someone. I guess there were no mirrors in her house when she dressed.

Thanks for this. I blame you for me looking at her instgrram. This is my favorite picture.

It looks like she told him to stand at attention.lol

What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create 💫

A photo posted by Nastia Liukin (@nastialiukin) on

That is not the same face she had 6 months ago.

The only thing in any of these outfits I even like are the hooker shoe’s. This girl has no taste

      • dianajc99 Says:

he so looks like a hostage in that pic.

      • Guest Says:

The second picture is obviously photoshopped. Maybe she think she can get more attention if she dresses like Lady Gaga?

      • Exgymgurl Says:

No she was styled by an Alice in wonderland costume designer who stole the curtains off the set and repurposed them. Mckayla Maroney had more plastic surgery so expect bigger boobs and a different ass when she does return to social media. OH and yeah she will cover all of it with ” major disfunctional depression where I didn’t leave the house” to write a ” lifestyle book” and appear on maxim

      • Uglyfatkid Says:

No, no Exgymgurl…it’s “Major Dysfunctional Adrenal Fatigue.” 😀

      • Mim Says:

McKayla had surgery for real? Dammit that girl was so gorgeous naturally, is her self esteem really that low that she thinks she needs it? Sad. Thank goodness Kyla and their trampolining pal Charlottee steered clear of that nonsense. (For reference, I’m not 100% anti plastic surgery even though it’s not my thing, but these young girls definitely don’t need it or shouldn’t feel like they do).

      • Guest Says:

I feel sorry that major public may only recognize Mckayla for her “not impressed” expression and her iCloud leakage scandal rather than her perfect Amanar in London Team Final. That girl has to face how to organize her future after retiring from elite gymnastics.

I don’t know what is the reason makes her stop IG updates, but the guess of plastic surgery should be the worst situation and it should be never wanted to happen.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

She had the bridge of her nose narrowed and some cartridge taken out at the bottom. She hasn’t been posting anything close up and she did it about two weeks ago based on Older Instagram posts.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I was going to guess some work on her nose and cheek implants (for Nastia).

      • gymtruthteller Says:

        She looks ridiculous
She was never beautiful but she was kind of pretty sometimes now she just looks like a freak show.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

I don’t think she’s had cheek implants I think she’s not healed and still swollen. She may have had restalin or some kind of filler but this was more rhinoplasty than anything.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

She did something to that chin. It looks pointy.

      • Guest Says:

Here is some pictures from gettyimages. That why I do think some photos she posted are photoshopped.

      • Guest Says:

Here is some pictures from gettyimages. That why I do think some photos she posted are photoshopped.

      • Guest Says:

One more. You can find more from gettyimages.

  15. Guest Says:

I noticed that Mckayla has stopped updating her IG for couple of weeks. Here is her last update.

Maybe she finally understands posting some “bootylicious” selfies doesn’t help her make real supporters and started to get a life?

  16. dianajc99 Says:

you know the more I read about the T&T problems, I begin to think they shouldn’t be aloud to send any athletes.

    • Gymbot Says:

      Fill us in please

      • dianajc99 Says:

This woman come of as one of those entitled parents who “just can’t believe” that somebody else did better than her daughter.

      • Gymbot Says:

I get that. I wish someone summarized the whole situation each leaked email teaches us something new. I feel bad that Marisa competed for four years with the hope of competing but Thema was better on the day and by the selection criteria. What her mother and the t and t leadership did was wrong, and it was all John geddert’s fault

      • Lauren H Says:

Here’s a summary of all the T&T madness.

      • gymbot Says:

wow lauren thanks, this is so shitty. Marquez needs to resign and I hope TTO doesn’t cut funding to its gymnastics program and federation, but removes the idiots behind all these problems.

      • Cupquaked Says:

So did Marisa secure a spot for herself or is it an individual spot for T&T? Because if that’s the case, the fair thing would be to have an AA competition between them to select who goes. Unless Marisa won the spot specfically for herself.

What a messy situation. I hate sport politics. Also why would they want a Canadian national representing them over an actual native of T&T? Not that Marisa isn’t talented but patriotism is a big part of the Olympics…it’s kind of the whole point.

      • Ss Says:

Dick won a spot for herself so no one else can have it. If she were to not go then T&T would not get to send anyone. That is part of the reason this is such a big deal because now it is done; Thema can’t go.

  17. dianajc99 Says:

the new “made in America” is up

?? how do you not know your country is in a medal drought?

    • sanitynmotion Says:

I feel the same way when these stupid gymnasts and their coaches listen to everything Marta says and does whatever she wants.

“Have her stop vaulting the amanar”….(because then she’ll beat my favorite and we can’t have that)…cough KYLA MAGGIE cough…

“Don’t do the upgraded vault you’ve trained and proven you can land consistently” (ASac this one’s for you)…(because you won’t make the team anyways so why show the world you should have or could have made the team)

“Don’t upgrade her bar routine, this one she’s using now is fine and consistent” (I bet she told Chow that about Shawn)

I conclude these gymnasts have their heads up their arses.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

How do you not know what the American Cup is? Courtney Kupets didn’t. lol

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Wow, Ashley Postell looks so different! And pink hair too. Clearly she has her quads confused, haha.

        Glad 2001-02 got some attention!

  18. dianajc99 Says:

ok i actually watched most of the first part of made in America. I think its just a gloss over of stuff to come.

I don’t want to sound racist but the eye makeup combined with her eyes make Ivana Hong look pissed.

  19. dianajc99 Says:

gabby is on the cover of inside gym mag.
that photos take high cut leo to a new low.

  20. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Osijek cup classifications day 1: http://osijekgym.com/eng/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Grand-Prix-Osijek-2016.-%C5%BDito-Challenge-Cup-Qualifications-Book-WAG.pdf. Elissa Downie leads on vault and Kapitonova and Seda on the UB. Kapitonova with 15.000 and Seda with 14.700.

    • gymbot Says:

I hope Seda stays on beam tomorrow!

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

Me too. Shelgunova scored 59.700 on the All Russian University Championships with more than 15.00 on beam. She seems to be another contender, even if I think that Seda, Kharenkova and maybe Kapitonova are ahead of her. But if Seda wants to go to Rio, she needs to hit this meet bad!

  21. Ilanchik20 Says:

I don’t usually find wedding things cute but this was, kind of lol.

    • Guest Says:

That may be why Shawn is still beloved after 8 years in Beijing. Her personality shines naturally.

  22. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Russian’s team for Euros announced: Dasha Spiridonova takes the fifth spot and Seda is the reserve. http://rewritingrussiangymnastics.blogspot.com.es/2016/04/melnikova-leads-russians-to-berne.html. Valentina is crazy. with this selection, they have to put Paseka on floor and Afan on beam. Dasha is just doing UB. Why would anyone take a one-event gymnast, a specialist in an event you are already strong on, to the European Championships? Are they mad?

  23. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Seda stayed on beam on Osijek today (thank God!) but Kharenkova dig her own grave with scores below 14 both on beam and floor in the qualifications.

  24. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Following Kleine Kleon’s blog (if you can read in Spanish, her blog dobleenplancha.es, is great), these are the gymnast preselected by China for the Olympics: Yao Jinnan, Huang Huidan, Fan Yilin, Wang Yan, Mao Yi, Liu Tingting, Luo Huan, Shang Chusong, Tan Jiaxin, Chen Siyi, Liu Jinru, Zhi Xiaofan and Lu Yufei. They say that they are not going to send any of the elegible gymnast to any international competition until the Olympics, so it will be some of a surprise. We only know some news, like Fan Yilin’s new 7.1 routine, but not much more.

    • Gymbot Says:

Did I read correctly? Tan Jiaxin competed an amanar but fell, and wang yan also crashed a difficult vault? Yao Jinnan’s shoulder still hurts, she is training in pain and still needs rehab?

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

That’s the word on the street. If she can hit an amanar and Wag with Tsuhara, it should make things interesting.

As far as I heard, Yao hasn’t verified bars at the first two internal selection tests–not good.

China seems to have upgrades this time in the year but then only half of them materialize so I guess we’ll see lol

  25. Rocío Martínez López Says:

Ellie Downie gets gold on vault and UB. She got a better score than Seda and Kapitonova. Well, well…let’s see if GB gets another medal on UB in Rio. It’s difficult with the best chinese and russian gymnast in the mix, but if they don’t hit, she can reap the goods.
