Simone Biles on Ellen

This is Simone Biles. You know that and I know that but the every 4 year fans are just learning about the savior to our sanity and I don’t know about you but I am glad she exists 🙂

Thanks to whomever put this link in the comments.

Aly’s opinion on the code of points. This moves ahead of Mckayla’s interview. Not Michelle’s 🙂

Skinner and her Amanar. I don’t think the girl liked being alternate last year:)

Lets read into the 5 gymnasts they put at the Olympic media summit and laugh when this ends up out Olympic team:)

Seriously – Simone is adorable. I love how genuine she is and I love her laugh.

  3. sanitynmotion Says:

Simone makes me wish that she would continue her career past these Olympics. She is so epic and the stupid 4-year fans don’t realize it because they don’t pay attention to Worlds. I mean, this chick won worlds THREE YEARS IN A ROW. Even though the rest of the field is pretty weak, that’s hard to do just from a stamina/training standpoint in the sport of gymnastics. Her biggest competition is literally herself (as in, just don’t get hurt…)

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Don’t use the H word. Don’t put that put in the universe:)

    • Guest Says:

That’s why I hate 4-year fan. They are idiot in gymnastics rules and didn’t know anything about code of point. They even usually think women gymnasts should have long career peaks as swimmers.

    • exgymgurl Says:

I think she will go to college and then compete for belize in 2020

  4. Ilanchik20 Says:

That didn’t take long. Kocian is in a leg cast but supposedly it’s minor.

Skinner vault could be very good news for her! Too bad she can’t replace Gabby lol

    • Gym Obsessed Says:

I was just coming to this blog to post that about Kocian… that didn’t take long at all. That young lady has bad ankles and a big injury tendency. Explains why she’s not on the Jesolo list.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

If I remember correctly, she had an ankle injury 3 out of 4 years in this quad. She better hope that ankle can withstand Marta’s Olympic death camps.

    • exgymgurl Says:

yeah, because camp performances are so important… this is like woga forcing wofford when she was puking to perform for marta 2.0… and the same thing maroney said about brainwashing…

    • exgymgurl Says:

I think those four maggie gabby aly simone are on Martas team thats why bailie key is dropping to l10. I watched marta talk about gabby abd maggie, she said for gabby scam was incentive to be on track with preparation, and with maggie it was to see how she competed individually without a team if she could handle it. Im not sure who gets the fifth spot kocian, skinner smith, locklear etc. neds to be a bar worker

      • Gymnast41 Says:

Bailie dropping to level 10 what? Did I miss something lol

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I’m with you. I don’t see it anywhere on Twitter. Is that just some inside information? Lol

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I don’t see Bailie quitting elite at this stage. Way too much talent for that

      • exgymgurl Says:

ummmm…. I do but thats me. Shes never really adjusted to her height and doesnt have the skills he did two years ago

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Her night happened last year and she should have been on that team. I think going level ten would be a huge waste for her

      • Mim Says:

What’s with this Bailie level 10 shenanigans? It’s still not clear to me if this is inside info or just someone’s opinion about Bailie’s situation. I hope she doesn’t give up trying for Rio.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

It’s ex gym gurl it could be She was right about Gabby’s reality show. Albeit like 2 years later.

      • Tortuga Says:

Exgymgurl is from Dallas too yeah? Maybe she really knows what’s going on at Texas Dreams.

      • aerial Says:

Has anyone even seen recent vids or photos of Key? I hope down in Texas they’re not hiding the fact she turned blue, or has grown a foot (either in height or a third foot), or gained 417 pounds, or something like that. I’m REALLY hoping she’s just getting ready to make a major and healthy run for this season, but it’s make it or break it time.
And did we ever even hear the full story over what happened with Worlds selection? Any feedback? It definitely seemed Kim was not okay with it, while trying to put forth a positive face, in her tweets after the fact…

      • gymmom2 Says:

She may want to drop back to 10 her senior year if she doesn’t make the Olympics rather than try for Worlds again and save her body for college. You have to get permission from USAG to drop back from Elite to level 10 and I don’t see them allowing her to do that this year or maybe ever. Not sure that anyone who has compete internationally as a senior has ever been allowed to drop back. National team members, yes – but can’t think of anyone who went on a national assignment as a senior ( junior yes) who then dropped back and competed 10. Two reasons – wouldn’t USAG be embarrassed if without all the bonus for skills upping their start value they didn’t beat out gymnasts who have only done level 10 and secondly the level 10 crowd would be livid. ( well they may not care so much about that – but they need the JO crowd for revenue and fans) Besides she would have already had to petition since the state meet is soon and no way that would have stayed a secret. I call BS on Bailey doing level 10.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

        Gymgurl, your rebuttal 🙂

Shawn leaked some details of wedding dress. I just wonder groom’s suit is black but not white.

    Super secret sneak peak…. 🙈🙊 #shawnanddrewsayido

At least Nichols is on this version of the team

I’m pretty sure every national team was full of injuries, someone should have been collecting injury reports or they should start now. Adding the lunge and getting rid of the flamingo corner is fine with me however

  8. Cupquaked Says:

Lol oops. My computer decided to comment for me…

Anyway. I was talking to someone about political candidates and their smiles the other day and how I felt like when some of them smile, it doesn’t reach their eyes. It’s always weirded me out….But that’s the first thought I had when I was looking at Gabby’s photos just now. All her pictures in that summit look like she’s just trying way too hard to smile and it’s coming off really forced. Same with Kocian (to a lesser degree and I think hers is because she might be a little uncomfortable in front of the camera).

I would never wish an injury on someone but I really really really hope something prevents her from being in Rio. Because there are so many well deserving gymnasts that are far more talented than her vying for that spot. And I don’t think I can listen to another 4 years of how absolutely amazing she is when in reality, she’s getting a free pass because of the publicity her name gets every 4 years now. -_-

  9. aerial Says:

I had barely recovered from the London summit pictures and already here we are, shuddering at the Rio ones. These pictures are always so cheesy and uncomfortable. I also hate pics of athletes in their athletic wear, but hair down Pantene-commercial style. And what guys stand around with their arms crossed at their shoulders and elbows out? Hahaha

  10. KG Says:

the poses in those pics are so awkward, or is that just me? They don’t look anything like they would during a routine.

I totally think Biles, Douglas, Raisman, Nichols, and Kocian is the go to list for Marta right now. Penny should be satisfied with 3/5 professionals, as well as the opportunities for headlines with both GD and AR returning, and the media will have a field day with simone’s story, and he gets a pretty and diverse team photo to boot.

and Marta should be happy with having a wogette, plenty of AAers and a specialist. I think if Kocian is injured (which is not unlikely) she’ll take Skinner for vault and maybe floor. or Ashton for bars, but she’s always injured as well and I haven’t seen Marta be too into her.

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

I’m not sure about both Aly and Skinner. If only because that would require Simone to do AA during TF and that seems like a bad idea or at least something that Marta would like to avoid.

So I think if not Kocian, then Locklear or Norah. That’s my hope anyways lol

      • Gymnast41 Says:

Very much a Norah Stan but her not being on the Jesolo list worries me…like what makes her less qualified to go to jesolo than the people who literally have no chance at rio? Idk, but for some reason I’m confused at wages possibly going on Marta’s head

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I think taking Skinner would be a waste unless they really need a third amanar. Aly really needs to clean hers up, then Skinner’s gone. Skinner’s floor isn’t nearly as good as Aly’s, and I think Penny might want Aly on that team since she’s a pro and all. Money money money.

If the team is Gabby, Simone, Maggie, Aly, and Kocian – Marta will have Gabby and Simone do AA in Quals and then can have Simone sit out on bars for Team finals (she can have Gabby, Maggie, and Kocian do bars). Then on beam, she can have Simone, Aly, and either Gabby or Maggie. Floor will be likely Maggie, Biles, and Aly. Vault will be Biles, Maggie, and either Gabby or Aly – if Aly has an amanar there’s where she contributes.

Although really this team shows me Kocian needs to be a solid bar/beam-er. If Kocian is injured she can be substituted for Norah but only if Norah has a really solid bar set. Locklear is a one-trick pony and not really that known on the world scene as much – she’s not as good on bars as Maroney was on vault so I don’t see a reason for a full spot going to her. Marta will stack the team with all arounders and one specialist probably – like London.

With that team, Marta also definitely has a good shot for gold in the AA (Biles), gold on Vault (Biles), gold on floor (Biles), a medal on beam (Biles or Gabby since they love to overscore Gabby’s beam), and even a medal on bars (Kocian, for like a ten-way tie).

      • H Says:

Lost some comments to spam (my mistake) In short, what team line up will maximise the number of event medals (US will win team final anyway)? My suggestion is Simone, Gabby (there is no way around here), Aly, Skinner, Norah/Locklear.

        What do you think?

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I’d be fine with that team. I go back n forth with Maggie. Yes, she deserves–she has come so far but since there is no way Gabby stays home, I don’t think we need 4 AA’ers.

If Skinner goes, Norah needs to be on the team. We need another good beam and Norah can prob get a beam medal.

But I guess if Skinner, we also need good bars since Skinners bars are worse than Aly’s and actually Aly’s bars aren’t all that bad anymore. I think Aly starts bars at 5.9 now so if she can keep her E under 1.3, they become sort of almost usable now, not that Marta will but in case of injury to Kician or something.

I say that the two specialists really depends on who the 3 AA’ers are.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I can’t imagine Skinner could lend any use to Team USA. Please definitely prove me wrong. Biles is the best vaulter in the US right now, and Skinner might get a silver medal there (or gold if Biles pulls a Maroney) but Skinner’s other best/usable event is floor and she’s not top 3 in the world there. I don’t see her coming close to medaling on floor – that’s where Aly and Biles fill in.

The only way I see Skinner being taken/used/not an alternate is if Marta is adamant on having a 3rd amanar in team finals and Aly or Gabby absolutely cannot do one.

I can see Maggie being an alternate too in this scenario, since one of the specialists really needs to be a bar/beam worker. The three AA’ers can just as easily be Biles, Gabby, and Aly.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

i really think if Aly goes, Kocian will and Aly won’t do bars

      • Melanie Says:

If not Kocian or Locklear, they should bring Key. I think if KZB is smart, she’s been upgrading Bailie’s bar routine. Bailie had made huge strides and placed 3rd at Nationals behind Kocian and Locklear (ahead of Gabby, Maggie, etc.). While her beam needs more dynamics in the tumbling, it’s very clean and consistent. She’s also great on floor and vault and could fill in anywhere.

I’m not saying Norah shouldn’t get her chance, but Bailie is proven, whereas people seem to think Norah will be huge on bars just based on speculation.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

        I agree

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

I know less than all of you of the state of team USA (please, don’t go private, GTT; I get almost all the news in gymnastics from here) but I don’t know if I am the only one who thinks that Aly isn’t going to go to Rio as an AAer. Her UB have always been weak in comparision with other members of team USA and she doesn’t have her Amanar yet. I think that Simone, Maggie and Gabby (sorry, I don’t like her gymnastics either, but it seems she is going no matter what) would outscore her for the spot and that she would have more chances with her floor, beam and improving her vault that focusing in the AA. She would go as a Sacramone of sorts, usable in all events but bars and with potential to medal in floor and beam. I think that, that way, she would have better chances to going that trying to go as an AAer with an UB of a difficulty of 5.9 when most of her direct competitors have a bars around 6.5. She needs her Amanar back and I think she can do it, but I think I have seen her internationally since 2009 and her UB have always been a sore spot.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Wait, you are talking about Aly Risman? Aly has her amanar back and she had it back last year. She competed at Jesolo and World’s last year (2015). She competed her amanar in QF during world’s. It was still a little wonky last year but I think it will be better this year. She actually seems to have more power this time around, she just needs to control get landing on it better.

Her floor is better this quad too, in my opinion. I think her beam is what she needs to work on. Her D is built around all those connections so hopefully she is working on changing some things around do she can get full D on beam. One of her coaches is s Bevert judge so I’m sure they’ll change it from last year.

Her bars are now 5.9. Maggie’s and Simply be bars are 6.1. I think the only atrong AA’rr with good bars is Gabby and that’s they keep insisting she needs to be in the team (ugh).

I don’t know if Aly will go as AA’er bug anything is possible. I think Marta will just keeping all those 4 battling it out. But if Maggie doesn’t get her amanar back, she may have Asac’ed. I wish Key was considered as an AA’er. But since Gabby goes, I’m not sure.

I think it will either be 3 AA’ers and 2 specialists or 4 AA’ers and 1 true specialist. Aly can be an AA’er of a specialist for beam/floor with an amanar. Maggie or Gabby are not specialists so actually maybe Aly has more of an advantage lol

Sorry for such a long post, haha. Not sure where I’m going with it. But I guess my prediction is this:

        Simone, Gabby, Aly, Maggie, Kocian/Norah/Locklear

Or Simone, Gabby, Aly, Skinner, Kocian/Norah/Locklear

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

I don’t think she doesn’t have a shot in the AA, Aly has enormous scores to compensate for her bars and, in another team, she would be the queen. But USA has a lot of depht and her bars of 5.8-5.9 difficulty with a not so good execution could pose a problem (even if a I think her execution has improved a lot over the years). So I think that if she focuses on beam, vault and floor, she would have more options of going to Rio, because USA would benefit tremendously of her floor, because I think that she has 0.7 of difficulty in her floor more than Maggie and Gabby, and I would place Aly on beam before Gabby any day. As for the vault, I thought that Aly didn’t compete an Amanar in last year’s world, didn’t she? Maybe I am mistaken, but I think she didn’t. I think neither Gabby nor Maggie competed one in the American Cup, What I am pointing at is that I think that she would have more options to go to Rio if she focuses in her three strongest events and pays less attention to bars. Then Martha could take three “pure” AAers (Simone, Maggie and Gabby), an specialist on floor/beam that she can place easily and with guarantees in any other apparatus if someone gets injuried (Aly) and an specialist on bars with medal option. I would take your word on the last one, because I have seen Kocian only in last years’ worlds’ UB final and that was the weirdest final I have ever seen, so I am not so sure.

And when did you guys said that Martha was retiring? And in today’s news here in Spain where saying a lot of weird stuff about Russia in the Olympics after Sharapova’s debacle.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I agree with you to an extent.

Aly could focus on her 3 events but if so, she risks the chance of getting Asac’ed because we all know Marta claims that bring able to do AA’er just in case is preferred unless you are s super specialist. Aly’s bars E has increased dramatically since last squad so dropping bars wouldn’t be smart.

Aly did compete the amanar during QF at Worlds. She had a wonky landing so got deducted heavily but she still has an amanar that Gabby doesn’t. Maggie had one but get DTY at American cup was weird so hopefully she gets that back.

If Aly drops bars, Regan can be a major threat to her so I’m glad Aly is keeping.

The problem with taking 4 AA’ers is that someone has to sit out for a bars specialist–we all know how that played at worlds–Maggie got screwed.

I want Marta to take 3 AA’ers and two complementary specialists but Marta never does what I want her to lol

      • Rocío Martínez López Says:

I haven’t had the opportunity to see Reagan, sorry. I’ll try to find some videos on YouTube. :).

As for Aly, you are probably right. In any case, she doesn’t have to drop her UB entirely, but I do think she should focus in her most powerful events to assure herself a ticket to Rio. With such a powerful floor routine, USA could get gold and silver in floor in events final and she could probably medal in the beam, depending of the day other gymnasts have (and team gold, but that is almost a given, anyway). I don’t think how Martha could justify leaving Aly home with that floor, a very good beam and a powerful vault if she cleans the Amanar, regardless of her UB. Also, Martha knows she can trust Aly to deliver, while other gymnasts can’t say the same and she is very marketeable. Also, with Aly considered as specialist with room in three apparatus, she would have the perfect excuse to take a bars specialist to complete her team. So I think Aly will be on the team regardless, but with a marvellous floor, a better beam and a good Amanar back, I think she will have more chances to go that trying to do the AA and paying less attention to her three best events. But that is just a possibility. I don’t know how powerful the new juniors are, but I have trouble thinking that they could be a serious rival to the most known seniors, specially Simone, Aly or Gabby.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Aly’s last worlds was shaky. She was given the third AA slot (over Maggie, who beat Aly in the previous nationals) and proceeded to slip up on floor and beam and on top of that, produced an amanar that didn’t score any better than a well-executed DTY. She knows she needs to bring it. Her previous experience helps, but not as much when the team is this deep. Marta is not predictable.

Maggie on the other hand has a cleaner amanar (I think Marta told her not to perform one during the SCAM), much better bars and I don’t think her floor is that far behind. Aly’s floor is great when she’s “on” so Aly needs to prove this year that her floor will be “on” at all times.

What Aly really needs over anything else is a solid beam set so that she can be used in Team Finals 3 up, 3 count. Aly’s beam is potentially better than Maggie’s and I don’t think Marta would want to use Gabby on beam if she didn’t have to.

Aly seems to have a problem/habit of messing up when she gets the AA slot. For that reason I don’t think it’s hers unless she goes out there and does a Memmel. It’s nearly a guarantee for Gabby anyways. What Aly really brings to the table is floor and hopefully beam. If she doesn’t have a good beam I see her potentially being ASAC’d…not sure if her bars are even a factor. Marta won’t want to use them for team finals, especially with a team this deep and with some good bar specialists to choose from.

      • Gym Obsessed Says:

I’m wondering if Norah isn’t on the Jesolo list b/c she might be on the Pac Rims list??

  11. Ilanchik20 Says:

One of the Olympic leos supposedly. Thoughts?

    • sanitynmotion Says:

No hot pink, and the colors of our flag. Check. I like.

    • Lauren H Says:

I like it. I’m sure this will only make an appearance in Team Finals, and we’ll see pink in some form during AA/Event finals though…

    • G Says:

I like the wag well enough. I think that they could have made the men’s one into a female version and that would have even better. I’m a little sick of red too, lets do something with blue for once.

    • aerial Says:

This look really emphasizes “broad” shoulders and boobs – as a dancer, we all hated this style. The gymnasts are tiny in real life but usually that cut looks good and elegant on a Kocian physique – rendering the muscular girls linebackers in a bodysuit. Buuuuuuut… props for experimenting with the look and using flag colours.
As for the mens, all I can see are the triangles on the nips… haha

  12. exgymgurl Says:

Notice Skinner is blocking off both arms. They fixed it when you slow it down you see the arm bend on both of the arms. Marta will take that to Rio and leave home a bar specialist ala 2004.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Maybe, but Skinner’s vault is just another amanar – not even Maroney-esque. And it seems that this code doesn’t favor the vault as much as one or two quads ago. I’m on the fence here because while Marta has proven to take big vaulters in the past, she might have enough with Aly and Gabby and Maggie (if 2 of them get amanars). She needs a bar/beam worker over a vaulter. And Skinner’s floor isn’t good enough.

I think Kocian is a maybe to bring along but her fragility is a concern. Locklear is fragile too. Norah is unproven. Anyone else? If no one, then maybe I can see Skinner being taken (oh gag me). But she’ll only be used for vault in team finals and give the potential for another vault medal, which I don’t know if that’s going to suffice when they should try and not have Simone compete on all 4 events at team finals.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

However if her block gets better and she does a Cheng and an amanar…hrm, that’s where I can see they might bring Skinner. She just may take vault gold then over Biles, right? Does Biles still do a watered down second vault? The Lopez or whatever?

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I think they’ll try to avoid having Simonw do bars in TF.

If Skinner goes, and Aly doesn’t make AA, she could in theory do bars if she get into a 14.5 range. Simone typically scores in the 14.8 range for bars, so if they have a huge advantage in vault, it makes to rest Simonw and just go for Aly’s 14.5 on bars–if she can do that. U.S will be far ahead of others anyways.

Simone said she hopes to compete her Cheng in Rio, which would be an upgrade for her.

      • Tortuga Says:

I heard Simone was upgrading the Lopez this year to something else. I don’t really see Skinner on the team at this point because she’s not specialist vaulter quality like Maroney was. And her other better event floor isn’t really needed. So with Biles and Douglas appearing to be locks I see Aly and Maggie trying for the third AA team member. And Kocian, Norah, and Baillie trying for the bars beam specialist, but it’s Kocian’s to lose barring injury. I think Locklear is more of an alternate without a really strong beam.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

If Kocian hits a beam routine starting consistently at 6.1 or higher she is the bars beam specialist. Ashton “Kutcher” is a one event gymnast. I Can’t stand Kocian but if she continues to hit her bars and adds a beam that she consistently hits then she is in the lead for the specialist spot. Kocian is never consistent on beam so

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Simone has a Chang she just has never competed it.

      • Gymbot Says:

Ilanchik that would be a really interesting line-up: counting on a bars routine from Aly in team finals. It could work if skinner does go but I bet Kocian, then Locklear then key and the Hernandez even would have to be eliminated. Norah is the only real question mark since she hasn’t been seen for a year or so. I can believe that her beam is unimaginably good now but her bars could fall short above average, and she’ll get Sarah finnegan’d

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

If Skinner were to go instead of a bars specialist, I can see Maggie out of AA in Quals again lol. Actually maybe that’s Marta’s plan, haha.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Skinner as a bars specialist would be funny:)

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I suppose if Laurie gets better beam and she has reasonable bars, she could be an option.

Or if Jazzy gets better bars. Her beam is usable.

Why is there no true beam/bars specialist this squad lol. Minus Kyla–but she retired.

  13. exgymgurl Says:

larissa is out for the test event it looks like

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

Looks like Lari broke her finger and needs surgery.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

That is huge for Romania. As long as Larisa gets to go to the Olympics I don’t care of Romania does but if she doesn’t get a wild card spot there will be hell to pay on social media. My girl Isarescu needs to start stepping up on bars and beam.

    • Rocío Martínez López Says:

That is what I was going to say. Man, Romania is fuck*d ten times to Sunday.

    • Tortuga Says:

This is awful, but she shouldn’t have to carry the damn team. They’re going to have to get their ducks in order and make this work. Damn I bet she’s stressed and feeling guilty, there’s too much pressure on her.

  14. tennisgrl456 Says:

The news about Iordache’s injury is a real blow for Romania. It completely eliminates the possibility of Iordache qualifying for the games as an individual, should the team falter and fail to qualify.

Does anyone know the format of the team competition at the test event. Is it 5 gymnasts, 4 up, 3 count or 5 gymnasts, 3 up, 3 count?

    • tennisgrl456 Says:

Ahh…never mind, it’s 6 gymnasts, 5 up, 4 count. Bars is going to be interesting…

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

If Romania doesn’t qualify, Larissa can still go. Laura Jurca or Diana will likely qualify AA or Cata as a specialist. Those spots are not-nominative so they go to Romania, not any one individual so Romania could give that spot to Larissa later although that means they’d need to make a decision between Larissa or Cata.

      Sounds rough.

Only spots earned at worlds are nominative. Only individual medals at worlds r automatic spot in Rio, which is stupid. So Schaffer from Germany will go to World’s cause she got beam bronze, if Germany doesn’t make it. Larissa got AA medal so it doesn’t apply.

      • tennisgrl456 Says:

That’s what I thought too, but I read over an article from thegymternet regarding qualifications and his is what it said…”the spots qualifying from Worlds to the Test Event are nominative, but the spots qualifying from the Test Event to the Olympics are NOT nominative.”

So basically if they qualify as a team Larisa is good, but if they FAIL to qualify as a team, that’s where she’s in trouble. The one or two spots that they would likely earn ARE non-nominative.

      • H Says:

Just a sad story if it ends with here not being able to go. Maybe there is a good point regarding the spesialist spots from worlds –> OG. But I dont understand the logic. Why did they not include the top three AA gymnasts? Why only event finalists?

      • tennisgrl456 Says:

Never mind…I’m an idiot. The rule regarding the spots being non-nominative only apply to individual’s competing at the test event (and I thought that extended to teams who, at the test event, failed to qualify).

The teams at the test event that don’t qualify to the Olympics will be allowed one gymnast of their choice at the Olympics. So all is not lost (yet) for Larisa. It is really sad though…the fact that she has been on the AA podium the last 2 years should be enough to qualify her through, regardless of how Romania does. I think that rule is ridiculous.

  15. Sainabou Nyang Says:

I have a good idea of who marta will pick for rio, but for the mens team it will be a mystery who makes the team. I only have Donnell W as a lock because he keeps getting better and more consistent. He definatley deserves one of the AA spots.

    • H Says:

So what is your good idea of the wag team 😉

      • H Says:

btw was the talk about Bailie Key dropping to level 10, just nonsens?
(some of you where bladidi bladida about that (I think earlier in this post)

      • gymtruthteller Says:

There was no talk. It was ex gym girls comment. No confirmation , just what she either knows and subtly hinted at or her thought process . You will have to ask her about it. I have heard nothing. Just some secret group she belongs to that likes to keep all their I go private to make them feel superior 😉

      • Uglyfatkid Says:

Isn’t exgymgurl always right about these things? She was right about Gaggy’s reality show AND Nastia’s herpes. I’m putting my money on her. 😀

      • gymtruthteller Says:

She is not always right but she’s got a pretty good track Are you coming back more for the Olympic year. I need you here 🙂

      • Sainabou Nyang Says:

        Simone, maggie, gabby, kocian, aly
        Alt. skinner, ashton, bailey/laurie

I dont see anyone else making the team to be honest. They will take Gabby with or without the amanar imo. She needs that amanar to fight of other AA threats of 2nd or third place on the podium. If Mustafina is at full strength and has a good floor and beam I think she can bump Gabby out of the silver medal spot. The scores Gabby received at scam I dont take seriously, I go by what she received in Glasgow last year and other than bars and vault she is going to have a hard time if Mustafina, Iordache, Yao, etcc.. I think the AA final will be more competitive this time around for 2nd and 3rd place.

I added Aly last because I think that as long as she remains consistent on floor and beam she will be on the team. They dont need her vault for team finals.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Judging by all the attention certain people are getting the team IMO right now will be Simone , Gabby. ALY, Maggie and Kocian. It covers all events. Only person I see sneaking in Is Laurie who Marta loves even with low start values but at this point besides Simone amd Gabby it’s wide open.

      • Uglyfatkid Says:

Ha ha. All I know is she is one of my favorites. After she and I tried to get #NastiaHasHerpes trending, she could do no wrong in my book. 🙂

Yes, I am going to try and post more. I will email soon to catch you up on things. I’ve missed you as well. I have been reading posts here and there, but haven’t posted anything myself. I guess that’s the internets equivalent of driving past your house every now and again to check on you, but never actually having the courage to get out of the car and knock on the door. Well…I got my fat ass out of the car, and I’m finally knocking. 😉

I hope everyone else on here is doing well. It’s good to be back.

    • tennisgrl456 Says:

Now I’m curious 😉 I kind of feel like she’s going to go with Biles, Douglas, Raisman, Nichols, and Kocian. That’s not what I want, but I could easily see that being the team.

  16. onelifeonejourneyonealex Says:

I’m a horrible person for thinking this, but I soooo would not be devastated if someone pulled a Tonya Harding on GD and she was out of commission for the games….not like permanently or anything, but just…..gone for a bit.

Excuse me while I go find my handbasket….

    • dianajc99 Says:

I personal think she is going to get a lot of negative reaction for the reality show that will effect our training.
Unless the show is good and good reality shows are about a 1 out of 10 average.

    • Cupquaked Says:

Not too horrible. I wouldn’t mind praying for something like pneumonia or mono to hit her just before trials. Like something that prevents her from competing but doesn’t have any lasting effects (other than the crushing disappointment that her half-assed comeback didn’t garner the attention she wanted).

We can go to hell together. ✌️

  17. Ilanchik20 Says:

Shannon’s Miller’s bday is today. And Norah’s. Let’s hope that’s good luck for Norah lol

    • Aerial Says:

I know, she’s fabulous!! Hullo Hollie Vise feet! I wonder if she has elite aspirations.

    • Tortuga Says:

Imagine what an elite coach could do with her. She needs some clean up but gosh what potential! And creativity! Love it. I’ll definitely be following her career.

    • Gymnast41 Says:

Can’t even deal with valeri’s reaction lol. This is the best JO floor ice seen in forever too…

      • Brittany Says:

Hahaha, I cracked up at his face. He thought he was about to witness a neck snap, for sure.

      • dianajc99 Says:

Is scary cool. I sometimes wonder how you would go about teaching that skill also reminds me of Susan Jacksons headspring.

  21. Ilanchik20 Says:

Her floor is my favorite! So different and so much expression–and she is not even elite.

  22. Ilanchik20 Says:

In case anyone cares, although maybe not lol. But Emma Kelley is trying to qualify elite this weekend. Emma is one other of Mary Lou’s daughter. She is 13, I think.

I’m surprised she hasn’t been to camp yet (as a USAG favor lol).

    • gymmom2 Says:

ML posted that she fell on beam and didn’t quality – but was close. I hear she has more talent than McKenna, and while probably a little late entering the elite game by USAG standards, if she can catch up – missing those extra years of training 36 hours a week will be great for her body.

      • aerial Says:

I think she was always pegged as the gymnast daughter with the most potential. In a recent pic of her girls, she was the tallest of all of them, and a totally different build – very slender. It will be interesting to see if elite plays out for her. I find MLRs other daughters very annoying and garish in how they portray themselves. They look like triplets, and then this one is out of nowhere.

  23. gymmom2 Says:

Well, if the USAG is all about putting people who are pro on the team, I can see Skinner doing that if it would give her an edge. Of course, the question would be – could you really trust that – and I would say no. However, I could see a commitment to turn pro the day the team is announced. I don’t see anyone else on the short list who I think would be willing to do that. And Skinner is nothing if not fearless and driven. Her form has been improving – who knows what upgrades she has in her pocket. And neither she nor her coach strike me as the type to buy into Marta’s suggestions to water down a routine. While I think she’s a long shot, it’s still a long time until trials. People have been writing her off for years.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

If Maggie makes the team she will get the tour money and be able to pay for College . I do my hate Skinner like the rest of this blog do so I would be fine with her making this team .

  24. Ilanchik20 Says:

Supposedly 7 gymnasts who were at European Games tested positive for a drug called “meldonium.”

They said they used the image of Aliya only because she was the most well-known gymnast from those games–not because she was one of those 7 gymnasts. They haven’t released the names yet.

The drug was not illegal when they were tested but it is illegal as of January 1st. So no doping charges.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Like Sharapova who was warned not to take it and took it anyway.

      • Mim Says:

The Sharapova thing makes me so mad. Her excuses about her and her team not knowing are total BS. I have a family friend who is in the top 30 in tennis and his team is VIGILANT when it comes to medication and monitoring the banned substance list, there is no way team doc or athlete can claim ignorance.

In light of the Russian athletics doping scandal and now dodgy AF Sharapova I really hope Russian gymnastics isn’t stupid enough to to follow suit. How awful for Mustafina to become the poster child for the story if she wasn’t even involved, I would be furious if I was her.

    • Rocío Martínez López Says:

I have heard that it is a very popular medicine in central Europe and that a lot of sportsmen/women take it. But, as you say, it was not illegal in the European Games, so its not a problem. But I think that they would look even closer to the test results of Russian Gymnasts and the European Championships (and the Games, of course) this year more than ever.

    • KG Says:

That would be really awful if Aliya isn’t one of them since they used her image.

I also really hope it isn’t her because that would just be a crappy way for her to go out of gymnastics after all of the times she’s pulled Russia out of a tough spot.

      • KG Says:

And honestly it wouldn’t surprise me if they were just giving it to the girls as a standard at round lake. Maybe they are giving the girls weird drugs which is why everyone seems to contract stuff there.

      • aerial Says:

They need to clarify the Aliya thing stat.

  25. Ilanchik20 Says:

Skinner’s amanar at the Glassgow Cup this morning. Not too bad.

    • aerial Says:

She has no competition so unfortunately should be a win and a very easy one at that.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

That vault was good and Marta could def use it, since Gabby will not have her amanar back. I’m sure of it.

But the rest of Skinner’s meet was meh–didn’t even break into 57. But Skinner always looks messy during the year, until she gets to Nationaks so I’m not surprised.

      • gymbot Says:

In 2014, when Skinner was arguably at her best on floor, she maxed out at 14.7. Even if she cleans this routine up (13.6), or more likely, stacks it with a few more tenths of difficulty, she’s not going to get near the floor scores of Nichols or Raisman, or even Key, Hernandez and Douglas… And Nichols and Raisman have better bars and beam sets to boot as back up. She’s a one event specialist, so maybe she gets to go to the Olympics if Kocian and Locklear are both broken and a bars specialist is not even an option for USA.

    • gymbot Says:

Well, if I were Skinner, I would not go pro because it’s pretty clear she’s an alternate at best based on this competition.

    • exgymgurl Says:

They fixed skinners block. It was well landed. Her bars look better, her beam looks slopppy but it was early in competition season. Her amanar loooks much better than Gabbys / Aly / Maggie. Her floor looked improved with more difficult turns/ leap combos. IDK if shes Rio ready, but shes alternate ready.

  26. dianajc99 Says:

Ok Did she go out before she started her first tumbling pass or was the line judge psychic?

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

I heard about this. People at the meet said she stepped out before her tumbling pass too. I don’t think they quite showed it on the feed.

  27. aerial Says:

The bow kills me. Not only the Pebbles Flinstone style (I know she’s not the only one – at least she doesn’t have a horrendous messy top-bun behind it like 3/4 of current NCAA girls) but it’s the chicken-wire fabric the bows appear to be made of. I’m sure it’s to make the bow “erect” and all, but honestly… I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… these girls are gonna look back and sorely regret these hairstyles one day… just like crimped side-ponytails and feathered bangs.

    • exgymgurl Says:

whats wrong with a crimped side pony? Bindi Irwin rocks that!!!

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Have you ever tried that messy half up hair thing the girls use these days? It’s a God send. Sure it’s messy looking sometimes but it’s the only thing that keeps my long hair up all day. It’s a God send:)

      • sanitynmotion Says:

GTT I literally was going to shut up and be quiet but that’s how I wear my hair every. single. day. Messy top bun. Otherwise my long hair gets pulled out by my child, who is obsessed with my hair.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

My niece is obsessed with my hair and every time she comes over she brings a brush to play with it. I can’t wait for hers to grow longer so she’ll leave mine

      • aerial Says:

Um, no. You aren’t hearing me. Orrrrrr more likely I did a crappy job explaining. I wear my hair like that every day as well, but for grown female athletes in elite competition, a mondo bun sitting atop the centre of their head with a bow, is a little much. IMO!

This was actually a lower and neater day for Wofford. The girl on the right:

        Double trouble 👯😈

A post shared by Mckenzie wofford (@kenzie_wofford123) on

As you go more rural, their hair more resembles this but with a bow perched in front:

Really, they should just save a step and the $$ on the bows, and do this:

Sorry I don’t know how to make the pic appear!

      • gymtruthteller Says:

The bow has to go but the do I was talking about was the one Nastia always wore in 2012. It wasn’t messy per say, just not a real hair do.

  28. Aerial Says:

    Her ostrich look!! AGREED.
