Say it ain’t so Bondareva

According to re-writing Russian gymnastics Maria Bondareva is retiring due to injury. I’m heart broken. Just when gymnastics gets someone with the potential to bring pretty back to the sport the Gym Gods kill them and make them go away. YOU’RE WORSE THAN THE BASEBALL GODS, GYM GODS.

This was the video RRG put up on their facebook page so I included it to the blog. It’s a little melodramatic but……….

Also according to IG2 and RRG Aliya will have knee surgery after worlds and Afanseyeva might miss worlds with a kidney problem. Anyone want to start a go fund me for merry maids to clean that place because something is going on with that place.

Anyone want to tell Brandy Johnson she is putting unrealistic goals in her childs head of do we blame the writer of this article for being in denial?

Worlds Schedule

I will be live blogging the women’s AA and team finals.Maybe US prelims if I can get out of bed during my vacation:)

GREAT Silivas interview. Someone needs to ask her about her age I would love to hear her opinion on the fact Romania cheated

In the next few days I will create a blog of polls so stay tuned for that. You know if I actually get around to it

People have caught so many weird ailments at Round Lake. That place must be gross.

Yikes on the SJS article. Is it really that big a deal that she’s “the first Central Floridian to make the [junior national team] since Morgan Smith in 2009” ? And of course, her former biology teacher is the best person to make a case for her going to Rio. I’m being snarky, I know. Cute gymnast, but definitely not headed to Rio unless something drastic changes.

I thought she was cute and it’s cute that her mom was a gymnast but I didnt get the hype. So many juniors are made of the same formula – little, peppy and do big skills. I usually don’t even pay attention to the juniors, honestly.

I think the Olympic angle came from the journalist. It’s just a little small town fluff piece, they probably heard a local gymnast made the local team and with less than a year to Rio and a mother/coach who herself is a former Olympian, jumped to conclusions because hey it’s good press and makes a good story for people who don’t know much about gymnastics.

In the video, Brandy seemed pretty reasonable and acknowledged the depth of the US and the difficulty of making a team regardless. She didn’t seem delusional at all. If SJS is Rio eligible, it’s not totally impossible that she might be invited to have a go to compete at trials next year (depending on her upgrades, who gets injured etc). I daresay as her mother and coach, she’d be delicately balancing motherly encouragement with realistic coaching.

lol – I can’t stop giggling about your merry maids comment. Seriously though, that is a fabulous idea. Can we also get funding for a dentist for them? Do you remember the “toothache issues” they had over the last two years? What in the world!

If I can’t afford dental no one gets dental but seriously though. Round Lake needs a good cleaning and new foam pit. I bet they never clean that

Crap, I saved the screen grab on my computer (but I don’t know how to post a pic), but International Gymnast Magazine just posted the most ridiculous response to the (obvious) backlash re: their Kwan/Dickson interview on their IG/twitter.

It’s a pic of Bela Karolyi in a warm up suit looking towards Svetlana Boguinskaia in a leo and the caption reads, “TBT: Considering the controversy of two Americans competing for Belarus at the 2015 Worlds, here’s a Romanian coaching a gymnast from Belarus in the U.S. Is this the new (or old) normal?”

Well, if they were looking to do damage control, all they succeeded in doing was making themselves look like bigger idiots. The first (and not so “big” thing) they got wrong is that Bela is actually of Hungarian descent and was born in Hungary, although the town he was born in is now part of Romania (but who give a fuck when it comes to Nationality, right IG?). Not only that, but Bela had defected from Romania and was a US citizen at the time he was coaching Bogi in the US.

The biggest difference. BOGI WAS/IS ACTUALLY FROM BELARUS!! AND SHE DIDN’T COME TO THE US WITH THE INTENT OF “TAKING” A SPOT ON THE US TEAM!! With the dissolution of the USSR, training conditions in Belarus were pretty dismal. She came to train with Karolyi so that she would be able to keep her skills at a high level in order to continue to represent BELARUS! She’s from Belarus and throughout her entire career she represented Belarus (whether it was as part of the USSR, the Unified Team, or an independent nation)…she simply trained for a short period of time outside of her country of origin with a coach who was from a different country than her own.

There is absolutely NO comparing this situation back in the mid 90’s to the situation of Kwan/Dickson. Who the hell comes up with these ideas at IG Magazine? I’m surprised that they didn’t say something along the lines of, “In addition, Svetlana first competed for the USSR and then went on to represent a DIFFERENT country: Belarus.” (Insert Massive Eyeroll) Idiots.

Didnt Nastia come back from Round Lake with an infection at one point? Between those and tehir skaters getting wierd things it makes you wonder….. oh and huang huidan is out of worlds for china. It feels like the rest of the world is just giving it to team usa. Heck, canada may actually get a team medal. Id say that the top six team spots will most likely include usa romania china russia the UK brazil and canada but who knows?

Id be more impressed if they said SJS was better than shayla “i have leprosy” worley

  6. Exgymgurl Says:

great content mment by silvas about adrian stan leaving romania and their bars decline and him moving to the uk where bars are now amazing. He should come to the US

  7. sanitynmotion Says:
