2024 Olympic party at my house is cancelled

Boston 2024 is no longer

The tax payers of Massachusetts don’t want to pay for an Olympics when we need a train service that can withstand some snow ( Hey I personally liked the extra days off) so the bid is no longer and anyone that wants to call Boston second class or unpatriotic for not wanting to buy an Olympic bid can sit the fuck down or you can do what I do and blame Steve Pagliuca (The owner of the Boston Celtics) All it took was a month of his name attached to this Olympic bid for it to fall apart completely much like his Celtics team during last years playoffs:)

So I bid ado to the Boston bid and the huge party I was planning. The thought of you was fun while it lasted but the city I live in is technically part of Boston so I will take the money I saved from not having the Olympics here and buy a new computer.

  1. Gymbee Says:

Norway said no thanks to bidding for 2022 Winter Olympics too. Which I agree with – but it’s a worry that more and more dictatorships are the only ones who want (and can afford!!) hosting the Games.

  2. sanitynmotion Says:

Well here in CA I believe we’re getting a bullet train to nowhere. Why not tack on an Olympic bill, we’ve hosted once already. I get the sense though that it will be a long time before the US wins an Olympic bid. I could be totally wrong.

I’m still so pissed about Sochi.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

So we can move the party to your house????:)

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Sure, I believe CA is totally capable of left-wing backdoor politics.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

My only issue with Cali is it is why Mary Lou Retton is famous and we don’t need a new MLR.lol

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Don’t blame Cali on MLR! It would have happened no matter where the Games were held, right?
MLR is basically getting too old for anyone to care about her anyways. She even has to know that.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Right so the world will get a new MLR. Haven’t you notices MLR never goes away.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I blame that on the stupid media. She never goes away but maybe in 2024 we can all laugh at her plastic surgery attempts.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

She comes out every Olympics. She’s like a cockroach

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Guess I can’t blame her. What else does she have to do anymore…and if they keep paying her to show up…

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I still blame her but you have a point. Who wouldn’t show up for money?

      • Guest Says:

At least MLR only appears in Olympics also general public love her and she has model family in this divorce-common society, not like Nastia who tried to make appearance in any major gymnastics competitions, own named a damn cup and even media whoring in Winter Olympic which is nowhere relative to her.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

        Nastia who?

  3. G Says:

Crap, if Boston won the bid, I was planning on starting to save money to go right now. I guess I’ll continue to drop my quarters into my “San Jose or Bust” jar.

On another note, here’s a shameless plug. If anyone is interested, I wrote a blog post about my experience at Classics and added a lot of pictures I took as well. Check it out here if you feel inclined πŸ™‚

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I will add it to my next blog if I write one. Thanks. Did you people watch? Watching the gymnasts between events is even more fun than the competition.

      • G Says:

Oh yes! Lots to see! I did t get to as much as I’d like to though because my family was asking me questions every five seconds lol

  4. Ilanchik20 Says:

So I decided to go to Visa’s. I’ll be at WAG day 2. Anyone going? We should do a meet-up, haha.

    • G Says:

Oh I’m jealous!! I wish I could go but I’m a poor college student and my parents aren’t paying for another trip to appease my gymnastics obsession until trials next year haha. Have fun and make sure you fill us in on your experience!!

    • gymnerd Says:

Next year in San Jose. I’ll be in!

  5. Tortuga Says:

I seriously have a tab open ready to put a down payment on trials tickets right now lol. Still have some stuff to think about. In hind sight I wish I would’ve tried to go to 2012 trials as it was more tight in rankings and exciting to watch, although I couldn’t have afforded it then. Simone is amazing and I love watching her but it’s not as exciting knowing no one can touch her. We need more Simones lol. Anyone else trying to go to trials? I’d love to meet some of you.

    • G Says:

I’m going! My mom and I put our down payment on the gold seat tickets in the spring (I’m still working on the other portion of the payment :). They said they would call us so we can pick our seats in 6 weeks but it’s been months. I e-mailed the guy in charge and he said it’s been taking a lot longer than expected. Seems a bit disorganized but who cares, I’m just psyched to go!
I know what you mean about Simone but I feel like there’s shaping up to be a pretty good fight for the other spots. And it will be awesome to be in the arena when the team is announced. I hope they have that confetti again πŸ™‚

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I need the disclaimer for this GTT meet up without GTT:)

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

Trials! I’m so jealous! I wish I could go to trials, def not going to happen lol. I tried to coerce my hubby into a vacation that combines going to trials but it’s not happening lol. Living literally on the side of the country doesn’t help!

We are going to be visiting family in Chicago (where we used to live) during visa’s so I just decided it’s not that far, I’m driving lol. The seats I was able to get weren’t the best but whatever. Last time I went to a live USAG was 2013 classics when Simone had her meltdown meet so I’m excited to see her in her glory! And I can’t wait to see Aly’s floor routine!! Ahh, I’m hoping Asac will be there and no Nastia! I would take my daughter with but since she is only 6 months, she doesn’t quite share my gymnastics obsession haha.

      We need a meet up!

    • Gymnast41 Says:

Definitely going to trials, no doubt. After probably having to miss P&G’s this year due to a work conflict, I can’t stand to possibly miss trials.

  6. TrishaG Says:

Toronto is preparing a bid for 2024 since Pan Am Games went well. That’s 4.5 hrs by car from where I live so I’m hoping they get the Olympics, lol.

    • Aerial Says:

I’ve been waiting for the Olympics in TO my whole life! After the success of Pan Ams, I bet a bid would be seriously considered. Such a great city, accessible, on Lake Ontario and truly multicultural. I told hubby last night that if they get it, we’re entering the lottery for Opening Ceremonies and all gymnastics and maybe more. We better have more $$ by 2024, lol!!

      • TrishaG Says:

I know, I love Toronto! And yes, my finances have better be improved by 2024, lol.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

toronto is actually a good option, close to the USA for extra people to come, I think a joint canada / USA bid would be awesome. I know austin was asked early on and declined. UT has almost all of the facilities already, and between Houston / Austin / San Antonio almost nothing would have to be built. Plus huge population base between those three cities. Austin with the F1 race for the US is also a preferred international city and even during SXSW traffic isnt gridlocked. Id love for it to happen here selfishly, but for the same reasons as Boston doubt it ever will.

      • Tortuga Says:

I love Austin in general plus I can get there in 4 hours, so an Olympic games there would be amazing. but they are accustomed to accommodating massive amounts of people for SXSW and ACL, it might be doable but luck is never in my favor and it will probably never happen in Texas or the U.S. for many many moons.

  7. JAS4 Says:

I wish somewhere in the southeastern U.S. would host because I would definitely try to go lol

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

I know how you feel! I need some of these meets in the South. I was really hoping they’d so something in or near Atlanta next year since it’s 20 years of Mag 7. I know Mag 7 is barely a thing now (plus Miceanu, ugh) but I was hoping it would be an excuse for USAG to host something here. No suck luck.

At least, I get to go to Visas this year since I’ll be semi-close on vacation lol

  8. Lithi Says:

Good for Boston, the IOC can shove it. If they want all new venues and yada yada they can pay for it themselves, they got the coins.

Going back to the Nastia wedding story–she and Shawn should duke it out at the Rio venue a la Thunderdome during the team finals and the winner would have her ceremony during the AA. (I can definitely see Moceanu trying to worm her way into this, don’t know how yet.)

    • Guest Says:

Shawn said she is planning her wedding between spring and early summer next year, it is before Rio Olympics.

The proposal looks like is idea of Alicia’s husband Brady.

      • Aerial Says:

I thought Alicia and Shawn hated each other… well, more that Alicia is a nasty mean girl and Shawn one of her victims. I guess everybody moves on, and when doing promos together and their men being buddies, it becomes a thing of the past. It’s soooooooo clear Nastia and Shawn despise each other and I get it as I despise Nastia even from a distance, lol. Calling it that the ice queen and her fiancee may not make it to the altar when he realizes she’s Elsa.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Nastia is what she is. I don’t think she is necessarily a complete bitch but she clearly thinks highly of herself and expects the world especially the gym world to bow down to her self entitled self. I just don’t think she is a people person and that bitch face makes her seem worse than she is. Then again she doesn’t seem to have many friends.

      • Guest Says:

Alicia and Shawn got along well together since the training camp in 2012. I think it is because someone got the free pass to Trials from Marta and both of them were victims of that.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I agree. We know how Alicia acts when she doesn’t get her own way. From what I was told the free pass Nastia got during the training camps and not having to go because she was “injured” while she was bragging about going out to coffee was a huge issue with many gymnasts especially the older ones. Watch Trials and How Nastia ignored everyone unless the camera showed up in the frame. The only one she seemed to genuinely like was Aly. I still remember how she was standing by Kyla not saying a word til she noticed the camera next to her and then she went and hugged her. Classic Nastia. None of the girls that made the team seemed fazed by Nastia being around which is interesting to think about 3 years later. I still don’t know if Kyla’s camp realizes just how uh Marta wanted Nastia on that team.

      • Mimi Says:

I daresay Shawn and Alicia put aside their differences and bonded over their dislike for Nastia, especially in the lead up to trials (as GTT says, sounds like no-one was impressed with Nastia’s half-assed attempt at getting on the team and not putting in 100% like everyone else).

      • Exgymgurl Says:

because her shine tour is such an overwhelming success, she should just do beam clinics and giver her little talk like other people do…. Ive definitely seen the shine tour on us weekly, getting tweeted about by celebs and in brides magazine and in the knot… oh wait im confused thats shawns engagement in those publications.

  9. Case Says:

Super sad that I won’t be able to crash on your floor for the 2024 Olympics….but I agree that Boston made a smart decision.

PS Brady Q is a wedding planner now? Makes sense since his other job(s) didn’t quite work out.

  10. Ilanchik20 Says:

College gym related but NCAA just downgraded (approved for 16-17 season) a FTY to 9.95. I bet Rhonda is glad she is not dealing with that lol

  11. JAS4 Says:

I wonder if Shawn will get married right before the Olympics then honeymoon in Rio and commentate or report on sports or something.

  12. Ilanchik20 Says:

    Simone is going pro!

    • Tortuga Says:

Ah!! You beat me to it lol! Sorry for the double post.

    • Gymnast41 Says:

You beat me πŸ˜‰ haha. I knew it would happen. Way too talented, marketable, and she would blow NCAA routines out of the water, which was my immediate reaction to when she decided to go to UCLA. I am glad she decided to go pro! I have full faith in her success in Rio, and she’s even mentioned competing after if she became pro. I’m excited to see her finally replace GD as the “best gymnast”. She will get the credit she deserves becoming pro.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

This is the best news for those who are sick of Nastia and Gabby. YES! She will be easy to market. I foresee many firms coming after her and shucking away the arrogance that is GD.

I mean given all of her titles this makes sense. She’ll be able to easily pay for college and any of them would take her. I don’t think Jordyn made a mistake necessarily either; she’s still involved in UCLA’s program and seems to be happy. Less stress too when you don’t have to have the NCAA athlete schedule. I mean these guys have gone through enough being an elite gymnast on the world stage.

  13. Tortuga Says:

Guys Simone just announced she went pro! I mean I’m not an ncaa fan anyway I just know anything can happen and I hope she doesn’t have a Jordyn situation happen and regret giving up the opportunity.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I am torn. I am also not a NCAA fan but it’d her life. She cam do what she wants

      • Tortuga Says:

Her skill level is so above ncaa but she just seems like she would love performing/ the team atmosphere. Plus I thought it was cute that her and Kyla would have been on the same team.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I watch and attend NCAA meets so I’m torn. I wanted to see her at UCLA. I think she is made for NCAA gymnastics but I def support her choice.

        1) That should give usag another pro gymnast to market and she is so marketable. Hopefully that’ll ensure Gsbby goes away all together.
        2) That leaves Sloan as the only (to date) gymnast who won World’s AA and NCAA AA.

I’m fine with both of those, haha

      • Tortuga Says:

Good news is she is SO marketable she will be a media darling and everywhere. I’m excited for someone new to get that pro spotlight.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

It gives steve Penny the new face of usa gymnastics. Between simone and Aly they probably have enough leading into the olympics. Kyla would round it out and give them a nice balance of all American girls

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Kyla isn’t going pro if she hasn’t gone pro by now

    • Dee Says:

I’m not really an NCAA gym fan either but I liked the thought of Simone going NCAA for some reason, even if she would be competing way under her ability level.

Doesn’t her family own the gym she trains at now? If so, going pro will help with that a lot, so I think the decision makes sense. I also agree that she will easily be the new USAG media darling and it will be “gabby who?” after Rio. I don’t feel like gabby really grabbed the spotlight like usag hoped she would, anyway.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

More proof Marta is stupid at picking it girls. The entire over scoring of Gabby and Nastia from their worlds to Olympics was very suspicious

  14. Gymnast41 Says:

So Simone finally decided to go pro…called it πŸ˜‰

  15. Ilanchik20 Says:

And Gabbys mom continues to be stupid. Fine with me. Makes it more likely that Gabby goes away!

    • sanitynmotion Says:

I’d like her to define what she means by this girl going “through adversity.” The challenges they faced were based on their actions. Or Natalie’s. She needs to learn how to pay her bills.

      • Dee Says:

I would like to know that, too. This whole situation with her comeback is annoying and I do feel like it was a last ditch effort to cash in.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Oh it was and as much as I HATE giving credit to people for not being liars and actually training for the pay off at least she didn’t Nastia it. The sad as in funny/ironic/pathetic thing is that those that came back the year before all failed. Shawn, Bridget etc… and in a different sense Alicia. They were all too injured to really compete for a spot. I really feel bad for the Kyla’s of the world who stayed, worked their ass’s off only to be passed or screwed because Marta wants to over score Aly and Gabrielle.

      • gymnerd Says:

  16. Ilanchik20 Says:

Simone signed with Octagon–same agency as Aly. That should be interesting!

Maybe she can do Dancing with the Stars after Olympics too lol

  17. Diana (@dianajc99) Says:

the bay area had a good big going for 2012 (80% off venues are already constructed) Until Jed York screwed us over.

I’ll be at the trials, I always volunteer so I can get in for free.

  18. Exgymgurl Says:

it will be interesting if gabby only had such a high placement because simone wasnt pro. its always a game….

    • Gymnast41 Says:

I’m just worried that simone going pro would push aly out of the game. They’re trying to make this current Olympic champ/current 2x world champ thing into a media thing. Aly will just be portrayed as the one who will push Kyla out when she’s the one who deserves to be placed higher than GD ALL the time.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Let’s hope that doesn’t happen! Because if GD makes Rio team and Aly doesn’t, I might be done with gymnastics for a while. I think Mihai is smarter than that and he will ensure Aly’s results speak for themselves. I don’t think it will be like the Asac situation where Marta left her at home case she could, Aly always shows up. I won’t get worried yet. Now I’m glad I’m going to visas next month.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

A team full of pro’s is what Steve wants which is why Kyla is the one to worry about

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I don’t think there will be more than one non-pro person on the rio team and given that the only current pro gymnasts are Simone and Gabby, Aly, it doesn’t boud well for Kyla. Well and Maroney too but I have little to no hope for her. And I can’t imagine any other current seniors or juniors going pro (at least not yet), I think this might be bad news for all of us who want GD to go away (including me lol). Ugh.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Steve might be happy with Aly, Simone and the other one because he thinks they are the only 3 that will medal

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Someone is going to get injured before worlds… Someone may get injured at worlds. there are no guarantees

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Is GD getting injured an option? Ok, jk but I hope no one has a major injury. I hate injuries!

      • Sainabou Nyang Says:

So I have to ask everyone, do you think the Rio team will be the most controversial team in the history if usag? Meaning in terms of who makes the team and who doesn’t.
GTT made an interesting point about Steve Penny possibly wanting a team of pro athletes.

If thats so then having Aly, Gabby, Simone would be very interesting. Where would that leave Kyla who clearly wants an AA spot as well. The 5th spot would be a specialist. Aly, Kyla, and Gabby will have to fight for the second AA spot.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I think Penny wants a team full of pro athletes but that won’t totally happen. There are currently three pro athletes on the NT team (Simone, Aly and Gabby). Plus there is Maroney, but she would need to show up with something major. So I guess if I had to predict it now, I’d say it would be: Simone, Aly, Gabby, Norah and Bailie. Perhaps Nichols or Ragan. They’ll prob take the 3 pro’s, one that might go pro under the right circumstances and then one non-pro. So actually if Maroney showed up with a TTY next year, she could make that team lol

      • Gymnast41 Says:

I’m starting to think that the 3 pros will be the ones given gifts to get them ahead, which is what Penny wants, and everyone will fight to the death for those last 2 spots. Poor Kyla. Steve Penny is probably thinking “well she’s got college and she can’t be a promoter of USAG without sponsorships so oh well”. Anything can happen this next year though. Like the worlds team this year could be like the worlds team in 2011 and be basically the Olympic team with one exception. And as much as I love Kyla, she will need to fight and beat Maggie and Bailie for that spot. So kyla please pull a GD over the next year k? I agree with Lauren on the point with the juniors though. None of them but Norah to me seem like they could beat the majority of seniors in one event. So unless Laurie gets crazy good at bars, Ragan up to Aly’s level on floor, and Norah up to near Simone’s scoring, none of them will be on that olympic team because USAG is so deep right now. Unless they get the 2012 kyla benefit, which I think media will hype up whoever is the 2015 Junior champ, which in this case would prob be Laurie, and Tim shady can’t wait for her.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

In that scenario, poor Kyka. I also can’t imagine 3 repeat Olympians. I think in some ways Kyla will prob be the Sloan of the last squad except I imagine Kyla as an alternate. So how much say does Penny really gets?

Or praise the lord, if GD becomes a repeat Olympian, she’ll never go away. Sigh.

I think Marta really likes Ragan so I wouldn’t be surprised to see her on the team.

No matter what Tim has to say about Laurie, I don’t think she is making that team. She has no standout event and she won’t compare to the AA’s that are above her.

Next year is going to be brutal. I hope no major injuries at visas or worlds like in 2011.

      • Case Says:

You know, that is kind of tragic to me. Kyla literally hits the gym right after London. These other girls prance the country for a year or two then waltz back into the gym then off to Rio. Life just isn’t fair sometimes, especially in gymnastics.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

It’s not fair but at the same time, Bridget Sloane was kind of in the same boat. Kyla went through injury and growth spurts during the time that Aly and Gabby pranced the world, too, which prevented her from being comfortable with upgrades. We all saw the writing on the wall with this, and the same notion stands: if Kyla can’t prove she can be counted on WITH upgrades, she will get left behind. Her coaches had to know this as well.

To be honest, I’ve always liked Kyla and I always will, but I feel like she’s toast even if she’s just the bar/beamer. The US is not weak enough in those two events to justify taking her over a solid AA’er. She needs a better floor if she’s keeping the DTY, or she needs an amanar. I don’t see either happening.

I don’t want to admit this, but I honestly can’t see Kyla making it to Rio. Not with just 5 team members and not with Gabby being forced back into the picture. I said I’d believe it when I see it and I guess we see it, sadly. She’s not going to go away and she’s being “chosen” somehow obviously by the powers that be when they are giving her boosted scores over the other girls.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Life is not fair. In fact life sucks

      • gymtruthteller Says:

And what the hell is with sending David Price back to the AL east? WHT did I ever do to you to deserve this.lol

      • Mimi Says:

I will be so frickin pissed off if this Olympic team ultimately comes down to who went pro and who didn’t. And I hope like hell Steve Penny and the organisation aren’t pressuring the girls to take that step or using it to threaten any potential team positions (not that I think SP and usag would be stupid enough to do it overtly, of course it would be through judge’s scores and team selection). If that is the direction they want to take just to make money (I guess the McKayla/Kyla worlds situation suggests it is), I wonder if that helped Marta’s decision to peace out. I can’t imagine she gives two shits about who turned pro, she just wants medals and glory, right?

These are (mostly) teenage girls we are talking about, even if some are 18. Why pressure them even more, and put them in a position to risk losing college scholarships? There’s no guarantees in this sport.

Ugh I’m still idealistic and think talent and realibility (and to a lesser extent, team dynamics) should be all that matters here. Not how much the powers can be can use these kids as money makers for their own greedy ends.

I’m awful, I really don’t want Gabby on the gym scene. She was better than I thought she’d be, and in fairness it really isn’t her fault that the judges and whoever else decided to make her their favourite it isn’t like she asked for that even though she tried using it to her advantage, but her presence and the trickle effect of her being on the scene is annoying. If Kyla gets screwed over by this, hope she tells them to get effed and goes to have an amazing college experience (gym and otherwise).

      • Mimi Says:

Sorry for the long rant. I guess it angers me so much because the girls are just so young and they sacrifice so much from their lives already perhaps moreso than other athletes in other sports. Ugh.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Someone sent me an e-mail and said the agency representing Simone also reps Aly and Dominique Moceanu and that Moceanu has been ass kissing Simone for months and they even met each other recently after Moceanu sent Simone her book and jewelry she makes. Apparently Dominique has been pushing Simone to go pro and sign with that agency at least according to the e-mail.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

The whole jewelry thing is so gag-worthy.

Honestly GTT is right – don’t need to worry about Aly, worry about Kyla. Marta will take Aly because Aly hits. Aly will have the upgrades. Kyla – we don’t know about upgrades plus hitting, plus obviously Penny is not a big fan of her and wouldn’t care if she stays at home. I have to wonder if that “fifth spot” is going to be between Kyla and Key. Or Kyla vs. Maggie. Who knows at this point.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I kind of see Norah or Ragan or both on that team. I’m not convinced Bailey will be there.

I say it will be Norah vs. Kyla and Aly vs. Ragan. I need them all there haha. And GD needs to study at home!

      • Gymnast41 Says:

Not surprised about Domo. Seeing all of her and Simone’s interaction + Domo’s tweet to her today’s got me thinking she may have had something to do with it.

      • Lithi Says:

I read “someone” as “Simone” and I was like WHOA! Gotta stop skimming. ;/

      • Mimi Says:

I’m on the Bailie is Boring Bandwagon. I used to love her clean gymnastics but there’s no spark or joy there, it just goes through the motions. She lacks “je ne sais quoi” or that special something that makes someone interesting. Like some of the gymnasts are charismatic, some are quietly determined, some being the fierce bitchface, some are elegant and have the regal vibe happening, others are bamf ballsy.. There’s just nothing with her. Vanilla zzzzzz. I guess scores are what matter but c’mon girl.

  19. Diana (@dianajc99) Says:

    how does what work?

  20. ilanchik20 Says:

Did anyone listen to the new Gymcastic podcast? Lauren says Andrew East should proposed to Shawn at Nastia’s last DWTS show. Okay, I totally would have paid money to see that, hahahaha.

    • Guest Says:

But Shawn was still recovering from her knee surgery at that time, also Noah Galloway’s proposal has pissed her off the chance to final. 😏

    • Tortuga Says:

I listened to it. I thought that whole discussion was hilarious yet funny because I believe Lauren is a big Nastia fan right? So to hear her say that Nastia keeps trying to one up Shawn was really funny to me. Bride Wars 2 movie with them would be hilarious.

  21. Diana (@dianajc99) Says:

there’s talk of a co LA/SF Olympic bid.

    • gymmom2 Says:

Because they are so geographically close together? How does that make any sense.

    • Diana (@dianajc99) Says:

I’m trying to work that out too. Its only a 5-6hr dive ans a 45min plane ride between the 2, but i can foresee
a fight to the death over the major attendance events.

      • TrishaG Says:

But that makes no sense for the athletes. The logistics for the opening and closing ceremonies would be insane for the athletes based at the other city. Idk, seems completely illogical.

  22. Ilanchik20 Says:

So in case anyone wanted to know, there is another Kim in the making lol

    • Aerial Says:

That’s not Baillie Key? They really are so similar! Kim’s male son also does this pose.

Norah and Ragan would have to come on SUPER strong in half a year next year, wouldn’t they? Flatley is outstanding but have their scores/difficulty improved enough to battle the top current seniors battling for the non-Simone spots? Also… little time to prove themselves as senior internationals if there’s no Worlds?

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Norah competed a DTY in Jesolo. It wasn’t great but it was a start. At Jedolo, Chow said, there are a lot of upgrades in the works. I fully expect to have some major upgrades for next year. Not sure if she can compete with other seniors but she’ll be up there.

Marta basically chose Ragan when she was like 10 so I think she is up to something. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ragan makes the Rio team but not Bailiey. Ragan is prob training an Amanar too (based on her last podium attempts of DTY). But I guess 2 first year seniors on the Rio team is a lot so maybe not both.

Everything that’s been said about Kyla is on point. I think she’ll make World’s this year but unless Gabby or Aly go down next year, Kyla will prob be the alternate. I guess in some ways she is line Tasha Sckwert–a surprise performer at her first Olympics and an alternate at the second.

        Next year will be brutal!

    • Sainabou Nyang Says:

I cant lie though. I did smile when I saw it. Kim has some potential juniors. The two that stood out were Abigail and Colby Flory.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

        They def have promised!

But I can’t tell Abigail or Colby apart yet lol. I just know they are TD because they both look like Kim lol

Where does she find all of these look a likes ? I swear, all of her recent gymnasts have blond/light hair haha

  23. Ilanchik20 Says:

Team USA write-up on Gabby. This makes pretty clear that Gabby is the “chosen.” Ugh. Aly deserves it so much more.

  24. KG Says:

I’m just a lurker on this site, but I totally and sadly agree with everyone’s comments about Kyla.

Barring any major injuries, and if everyone stays on the same trajectory, Here is what I think for Rio:

Simone-undeniably the top AAer and will be great spokesperson; she’s everything penny and Marta could hope for: came through family adversity for a great NBC special, she’s personable and bubbly and cute, well spoken, and she is unshakeable.

Aly-repeat Olympian hype, plus the whole getting knocked to 4th in the tiebreaker last Olympics that they can talk about fueling her to a second Olympics

GD-because every four year fans love an “adversity” story, and they can talk about her trying to defend her AA gold and making history. Yuck. I also think they’ll fuel a Simone vs GD for AA gold type discussion

Kyla/Nichols/Key/etc-I think they’d love someone with great lines so that they can talk endlessly about the “international look”, it’s Kyla’s if she can perform her upgrades with consistency but as of right now she looks to be getting phased out. I think they tried to say adios to Nichols a few times, but kudos to her for hanging in and using it to improve. I still don’t think she’s a favorite though and she’ll have to place top 4 in trials to have a shot. They were dying to have Maroney in this spot with a TTY and a passable floor, but I think that ship has sailed. I thought maybe Locklear for awhile, but isn’t she fairly injury prone? And I don’t think her bars scores would medal anyways. Same with the wogettes.

Key/Smith/Flatley/Hernandez/etc. -they will want to take a baby faced Moceanu-in-96 type that is willing to go pro. Not sure who would/will go pro, but they love having a “baby” of the team. How many times did they talk about Kyla being 15… Ragan seems to be a Marta favorite as everyone has noticed, and she is also the most baby faced. If she comes out with an amanar I think she’ll seal the deal.

Maybe I’m totally off! Haha but I think because the U.S. Has so much depth, they will really be shady and pick good media stars

  25. Gymnast41 Says:

Hmmmm just noticed this. People love us πŸ™‚ http://youtu.be/XDvRBEUrjy4

    • Gymnast41 Says:

Oops, forgot to mention it’s in the comments

    • Lithi Says:

I know of this guy, he used to post at the IG forums until he was banned. He is a major Gabby stan, almost on par of my stanning for Elena Shushunova.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

This blog is dedicated to hating Nastia not Gabrielle. Some people πŸ˜‰ I know who the girl/guy and I am pretty sure they were banned from IG for being insane. So there you go. Insanity calling people insane. It actually makes sense.lol. I also don’t think I have hated on Gabby nearly as much as I get blamed for. I do not read anything about her and can’t remember er the last blog I had about her. It was literally before the last Olympics.

      • Gymnast41 Says:

All of his comments were annoying because he basically either mentioned GTT or was defending GD hardcore to those who comment negatively about her….should’ve reported spam. Clearly doesn’t read the blog.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I don’t like Gabrielle’s bad attitude and the over scoring she gets especially in the US that rivals Simone’s execution is such a joke but I think I have been pretty even on Gabrielle overall. I don’t read or watch her videos and still haven’t seen the most recent arrogant video you guys have talked about so I am not sure what this person is talking about. I get accused of doing stuff all the time and I just laugh because contour to popular belief every single gymnastics fan from Boston is not me. I don’t have any real friends that watch this sport unless I drag them to meets with me. I had a friend that was a gym fan but she met a man and is in the middle of planning a Wedding and basically grew up. She know longer cates about this sport at all.

      • gymnerd Says:

That’s OK, GTT, we’re here for you.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Thank you. I’ll get my gang members to help plan the assassination of all YouTube and twitter trolls trolling the planet. Should be fun πŸ™‚

  26. Case Says:

GTT, sorry about shipping Price back your way but I think it was the right decision for the Tigers. He’s kind of a diva and apparently made it known he wouldn’t resign with us so the smart move was to get something for him. It’s a little sad though, first time in years we’ve held a fire sale like this.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I hate him so much and always have. Send him to the national league so someone else will have to look at his smug face. Kind of sad at the Tigers fire sale. At least you are not sending players to evil teams and paying his salary. Only my stupid GM does that. We don’t seem to be done anything at all and I am kind of glad. I like our kids (Mookie.Holt
Xander and Bradley) amd will be pissed if we trade them for the likes of James stupid Shields. Rumors are floating about trading our only all star and I will be Livid if we do
I Love this kid, his great attitude and his amazing play. If Ben trades him I will revolt.

      • Case Says:

I’m waiting for the other chips to fall here with Cespedes. I’d also like to get rid of Avila. He’s terrible and only lasted so long here because his Dad is the assistant GM. Our rookie catcher, McCann, is 100x better.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Lol like Cespedes isn’t a keeper by a lot of teams

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I was sitting here thinking who did the Tigers give us for Cespedes then I laughed because I remembered . THANKS CASE FOR NOTHING .LOL

      • Case Says:

Oh I know, what happened to Porcello is a tragedy for real. He was a decent pitcher in Detroit.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

He crumbled under the pressure. He better wake up because a guy making 20 million a year and playing on this team and playing this badly will be the guy the radio kills and the brain dead follow the radio people like they are stalking them. He has to get better right? RIGHT??????? πŸ™‚

  27. Ilanchik20 Says:

    And it begins.

It you read this Hollywood article, you’d think the only two gymnasts stars for Rio are Simone and Gabby. Ugh.

    • Gymnast41 Says:

As much as the article sucks, I do love the video though haha

    • gymnerd Says:

Do any of these girls ever have an original thought, or are they allowed to express them? “Not many kids have the opportunity to travel the world,” blah blah blah, “representing my country,” blah blah blah, “inspire young girls,” blah blah blah. And I LIKE Simone. I just wish the media trainers would feed the girls some new lines every, oh, five years or so. This interview could just as well have been with Aly, Bailey or Kyla and sounded exactly the same.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

        I know!

Simone usually is so bubbly and has a real personality. I hope they don’t change that now that she is pro. Her agent should capitalize on her personality–not make her like others.

        Rant is done. Ugh.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

        Stepford Children

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Exactly which is why I find it hard to believe GD has had any real “diversity” in her life.

That whole thing pisses me off.

  28. Diana (@dianajc99) Says:

true its like they never learn. the next mary lo2 years out, atler nastia part 2

  29. Ilanchik20 Says:

I guess does Nastia represent someone now lol

  30. gymtruthteller Says:

Someone found this on instagram and sent it to me. It made me laugh.

  31. Guest Says:

Just noticed this pre-engagement photoshoot of Shawn. I found Andrew’s left hand on somewhere… umm

    • gymnerd Says:

      Very cool. Thank you!

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

        Very interesting!

I guess I never noticed the similarities but Kim (at her young days) reminded of Atler. Both with so much pressure at a young age.

Aww. And Hillary Grivich was in this one too. Such a shame what happened to her. Geez, that 1992 team was a mess.
