Happy 4th of July. Remember why we celebrate it.

I watched a documentary today on the Bataan death march. It was eye opening. A soldier was upset because none of the torture he and his fellow soldiers went through was even a foot note in the history books of our schools here in the United States. He has to travel all the way to the Philippines to find anyone that cares about what he went through and that’s a crying shame. No that’s a pathetic abomination.

So why you’re sitting on your butts enjoying your long weekend eating your hot dogs and carrying your newly purchased American flag to the fireworks remember exactly who it is that fought for your damn rights to protest over whatever situation you feel like even if its stupidity.

My Gramps fought in the Pacific. Had some amazing stories and got 2 purple hearts. It’s a travesty people don’t understand nor realize the benefits of living in a “free” country and how that came to be. They’d rather watch the Kardashians and Being Caitlyn or whatever.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

This is why the US is falling to pieces. If you don’t remember history you are bound to repeat it.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

were here in a DQ parkinglot with chairs on their sidewalk getting our blizzard on right next to a freeway waiting for fireworks. only in america. the country has gone to hell, its after 9pm in texas and its barely 75 degrees who let the heat out?

  2. Exgymgurl Says:

has this country gone to hell when I can watch the gaggy douglas story free on netflix, choose not to, and instead fast forward the 2012 beam final on youtube just to watch her fall? Nastia posted a pic of her gay fiance

  3. Exgymgurl Says:

https://mobile.twitter.com/RhondaUSAGym wonder if rhonda is going to toronto with this team, plot thickens

    • JAS4 Says:

Maybe Marta is having a rivalry between Valeri and Rhonda for next in line to her throne. She seems to like rivalry with the gymnast so why not with them too lol!

      • tulip Says:

I’ve wondered the same thing. What could possibly be her motivation for having them both and having her join so suddenly? Did he do something she didn’t agree with (could have had a glass of water without her permission for crying out loud) and she’s showing him it’s not a done deal at all… I don’t know- just speculating. But yes, she’s going to make him fight for it.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

I think its simple, they want another female to take over for marta. They have until the 2024 quad, when marta finally retires. They need someone with executive leadership experience and elite experienc, that is not imbedded in any particular gyms philosophy of training elites. They need someone that buys into and believes in karolyis training methods. I dont know that papa liukin necesarily doesnt have his own opinions, or is a female.

      • gymbot Says:

They also need a female coach on the floor for the team event, Jenny Zhang/Liang? (GymMax) has been doing this since the Olympics. It might make sense to have Rhonda on the floor, even if she and Valeri end up splitting leadership of the US program. But what Exgymgurl says about having someone in charge who does not have stakes in a gym franchise seems like a smart person in a leadership position.

  4. H Says:

    Off topic – (sorry)
But interesting to read about d-score vs e-score final rankings, which event is the strongest predictor of all-around rankings? etc.

Check out the last blog posts here: http://uncletimtalksmensgym.blogspot.ca/

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I hate numbers but I would think all that matters’s D scores depends on the gymnast. Seems to me someone like Gabby was given the benefit of doubt with her connections and form yet someone from a no name Country doing a Yurchenko full would get killed in the execution score even if it was perfect. There is always an un-written rule in screwing over the gymnast judges don’t like

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Totally. Even an unknown gymnast doing a DTY vault would get all sorts of deductions Mustafina won’t ever see.

Same thing happens in figure skating. Before an unknown skater hits the ice, they’re already in fourth place. Unless the unknown is in Russia and their “A” skater already fell so all depends on “B” skater to take the lead. I’m still pissed about that. I will never watch skating at the Olympics again, or at least even care about it anymore.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Not sure why I watch skating. I forever will be convinced the gave the 98 title to Terror Lipinski to keep Kwan skating and in 2002 thanks to the stupid Canadians whining they didn’t give the gold to Kwan because they didn’t want anyone more pissed. No way in hell Kwan shouldn’t have taken second in the LP which would have given her the gold and Joe Inman admitting he cheated and getting away with it still gets on my last nerve 13 years later. The man admitted he cheated and no one did anything.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I remember thinking Kwan deserved it more in ’98 than in ’02…didn’t she fall or something in ’02? I’m now forgetting. Sarah won but she’s so forgettable it’s a travesty Kwan didn’t. Slutskaya always sucked. All she did was skate and jump and flail her arms around like someone get the doctor my friend is choking.
I feel like the press/media didn’t make a big deal of Kwan not winning the Olympics because in both cases she lost to an American. Had it been Sluttypants, it’d be a different story. Like the big deal made about the cheating judge for the pairs competition that same Olympics – that one judge who confessed she was pressured to vote for the Russians no matter how well the Canadians did.
Just shows the whole thing is rigged and fixed. I would never put my daughter in that sport for that reason alone. It’s not a sport when the outcome is predetermined by corrupt judges.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Welcome to the school of the 2002 Olympic travesty known as the screwing of Kwan. Give me a few minutes and I will prove Michelle Kwan was CHEATED.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

After winning the short program all Kwan needed was to finish second in the LP to win the entire thing and the ex Soviet republic judges were so fixated on making Irina the winner they gave her 1st in the LP which was a travesty and in the end that screwed Michelle out of the gold medal. If 2 more judges had put Kwan second in the LP where she belonged she would have won the whole thing. Hughes was 4th after the SP and should have been lower. She had a flutz and a flip which essentially are the same jump and she should have been behind Fumie who was in 5th I believe.

Joe Inman the US judge admitted in an article that he put Irina second in the LP over Kwan who he really thought had the second best LP of because he thought Sarah should have won. He completely ignored the rules of the competition to fix the votes to his way of thinking. Michelle needed 2 more 2nd place LP overall so if Joe had done his job Michelle still wouldn’t have won but the fact he cheated and admitted he cheated should have mattered and the same fact that the ex Soviet republics all cheated to help Irina win is a travesty.

Michelle had 6 clean triple jumps in her LP and even tho she fell it was ten billion times better then the mess Irina called a LP.

The Russians technically could have won the pairs gold medal because their routine was more difficult if the French judge didn’t admit she cheated the Canadians would have silver today. The US supporting that witch hunt is something I have always regretted but when a judge admits she cheated there is nothing that can be done.

The Ukraine judge was the alternate for the womens LP and she said after the competition she would have given Irina the gold medal. If that had happened the outrage would have been huge but it would have been for Sarah not Michelle. Yes you are right that if the US had lost both those titles I think there would have been more of an outrage

Russians have a history of cheating article

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Just the same, the reason nobody was as “outraged” in Sochi I believe was because the person being slighted was a South Korean – again, not an American. And stupid Terror and Johnny probably wanted to play ignorant, not make waves, and keep their jobs. I guess I can’t blame them. Look at them now, they’ve got a new wave of fame over hair extensions, bad botox, and clown costumes.
If Michelle hadn’t fallen she would probably have been able to claim that gold hands down, right? What do you think? It opened the door for the judges to cheat, sadly. And I agree all of Slutskaya’s routines were a hott mess. Sarah’s was forgettable, at best. She just didn’t fall, is all I remember. Still, the short program should matter. Just like with Terror, and I still don’t understand how Terror got those presentation marks for flailing her arms around.
I feel like the same thing happens in gymnastics (cheating) – well, we know it does – only it’s not so blatantly obnoxious “yet” that I can still watch the sport without trying not to vomit or throw a heavy object at the television. However I see these days coming to an end. And possibly sooner rather than later.

I just have this feeling Simone is going to get boned the next Olympics (presuming Marta doesn’t screw her first by getting her injured with all her pre-Olympic death camps).

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Sarah had a great LP with 2 triple triples if the judges tried to fix the LP win for Irina they would have done the same to Michelle.

Tara was fine with the Russian winning because a jumping bean with no artistic ability justifies that ” gold medal” she has and didn’t deserve and Jonny chose Russia and their anti Gay stance over himself essentially because he is gay it didn’t surprise me he was on her side.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

A few years ago Sarah Hughes was on twitter begging for a job for the winter Olympics.lol

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Simone has the difficulty and I don’t think she will be lowballed but you never know

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Sarah Hughes just needs to pull a Terror, get some hair extensions, botox, and fake eyelashes and such – dress like an OC Housewife in the Circ de Souliel or however you spell it – she’d likely land the job. Just needs the gay sidekick. Shouldn’t be hard to find in figure skating. Not sure if she has the personality to pull it off, but not sure Terror has one either. She just comes off as a snotty know-it-all.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Tara has always come off as a snotty know it all.lol I remember when she and Nicole Bobek would sit and give dirty looks to Kwan. It really stands out in 2008 when Michelle beat them. I hate that girl

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I remember (with hate) how Tara was on the podium in 1998 to Michelle. Basically didn’t even look her in the eye. Karma is a b*tch in how she aged though. She looks like utter hell.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I remember a press conference where they asked Tara if she liked Michelle and Tara sat there dumbfounded because she didn’t want to lie and Michelle was like I like you Tara. That was everything I needed to know about Tara that and her and Bobek who was like 19 throwing dagger dirty looks at Michelle for not reason.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

        Tara has always been ugly

  5. Exgymgurl Says:

at least her thing with evan lysacek is over

  6. Gymnast41 Says:

Gabby’s insta got hacked last night and her bio was changed to “haters gonna hate I’m the best gymnast bi*****” lol. I was dying laughing.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I net it wasn’t hacked at all. That sounds like her.

      • Case Says:

Natalie hopped on her account and made some upgrades last night.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

When accounts are hacked it isn’t usually fans it’s usually professionals. Gabrielle’s account was “hacked” by an obvious gymnastics fan that included best gymnast ever quote. It was her. Or her mother or a sibling looking for attention.

      • Uglyfatkid Says:

Agreed. Isn’t that what everyone says when they drunk Facebook/post/Tweet/whatever something they regret later? “It wasn’t me, my account was hacked.”

And if it was hacked…why would they put something nice and supportive? Last time I checked…when your account is really hacked you get one or a combination of the following:

        1) Negative personal stuff posted about the person, trying to make them look bad (denotes a personal attack by someone)
        2) Nigerian or other nefarious scams posted (general hacker)
        3) Porn or links to porn (general hacker)
        4) Random ads or nonsense (general hacker)

So…why would someone hack her account…only to post nice things? Oh, I guess it’s that new type of friendly hacker everyone has been hearing about. What a bunch of BS.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Its a plot for her reality show. The are running out of material. So they fake hacked her account

      • Guest Says:

If it was really hacked, I thought the hacker would delete the past pictures and post some other mocking ones.

      • Gymnast41 Says:

I totally agree….something seems fishy about this whole thing, and apparently they did more?

  7. Ilanchik20 Says:

I don’t know how new or old this but this is awesome haha

https://mobile.twitter.com/RhondaUSAGym/status/618464494902214656/photo/1 shes with the panam team

    • Gymnast41 Says:

Anyone know if Marta is with them?

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I haven’t seen any pics of Marta and Rhonda been posting lots of pics. Given that and how close its to Classics, I’d say Marta isn’t there but isn’t it a little early for Rhonda to be on her own? Hmm.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

why would marta go to toronto. Its not like we dont go in with a senior b squad and a five point advantage on canada.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

its not like she dying to drink with valentina….

      • fatam Says:

Marta Karoli is there in Toronto. There a big group picture of everybody under the bull/bison head hanging on the wall of the lodge. Rhonda Fehn has been posting a few behind the scene pics on her twitter account.

On a side note, I know I will waste a lot of time here, lurking and stuff, but how does one sign up to be a member and post? Who do I contact? What do I need to provide? Thanks.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I usually make people send an e-mail but I am in a good mood so I approved you. Have fun

      • Exgymgurl Says:

the pic at the lodge was at the ranch, there is a building called the lodge…. Im pretty sure….thats not toronto

      • Exgymgurl Says:

https://mobile.twitter.com/RhondaUSAGym/tweets there is another training pic at the ranch after the lodge pic, since the team travelled, there is no marta. She designated chow head pan ams coach in 2011

      • fatam Says:

Oops. That wasn’t a very good first post then, was it? haha. That photo looks like someplace in Toronto, since everyone was all happy and cuddly. Sorry. Guess it’s not Toronto then. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CJH9wzoUEAALzl5.jpg:large

    • Exgymgurl Says:

its all good, fish hano and jenny are not in toronto either, nor are nia and the other alternate, no big deal. the lodge is very texas. Maybe rhonda faehn will be on the podium and incur a deduction for team USA like she did at the lsdt internstionsl competition she was part of.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Sadly even if USA incurred a deduction for Rhonda being on the podium, USA will win anyways lol

      • gymbot Says:

lol – I think Rhonda will be on the floor at least.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Its true, marta isnt taking a huge risk sending Rhonda…. πŸ™‚ It will be interesting to see if she watches and rallies between aparatus like she does for NCAA

      • Case Says:

LOL. Just don’t let Rhonda move the damn mats again.

  9. JK Says:

I was just watching the 2004 TF and AA competitions and I was wondering if anyone knows Khorkina’s start values on floor and beam because she kept making faces at her scores (thinking they were too low), and the crowd kept booing at them too. I can’t imagine her beam and floor to be out of a 10.0 because they didn’t look too difficult (plus she was far from flawless on both events to get high execution marks). I don’t know, I thought her scores on beam and floor were well deserved… her AA bars is another matter (way too inflated).

  10. Exgymgurl Says:

khorkina should have won because she was khorkina. but little mistakes and carly finally having the meet of her life, and ponor not doing bars did her in

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Carly should have won because she prevented Nastia from being the first AA gold medal in a full Olympics. CARLY, CARLY, CARLY, CARLY

      • Gymnast41 Says:

Amen to this ^^ Unless Carly was the prime motivation for nastia to win….which then, maybe if she didn’t win could’ve resulted in a different result I’d been happy with πŸ™‚

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Is it bad to say I kind of always thought Khorkina was overrated? Yeah, she did a lot of ugly moves because she was tall for a gymnast. That’s mainly what I know her for.
I think she had the opportunity to re-do her vault too but she turned it down.

      • JK Says:

I think Khorkina’s a bit overrated too. However, I do think she was great on bars – when hit that is. Although I’ve always felt her reputation allowed her to be extremely overscored on certain occasions (like her AA bars in 04). I also like that she actually performed on floor… but then again, I also think her floor scores were a bit inflated (like her AA floor at the 03 World Championships). But I’m not too familiar with how the code worked in 01-04 so I could be totally wrong here.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

my life would complete if carly patterson did DWTS

  11. G Says:

Senior roster for classics is up (says 2014 but its just a typo)

So are Peyton Ernst and Nica Hults done? I know Nica is still training but had surgery some time this year. I really like her on beam but there’s no way shed make Rio.

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

I’m excited that Ashton is on a roster!

I don’t know about Peyton but KZ has demoted Nica last year. She re-assigned her to a different training squad (the one with less Olympics potential), which from what I heard means she is trying to get her to focus on L10 and figure out her priorities. I remember when it happened Nica and her parents were kind of upset so I’m not even sure she is doing elite anymore.

      • Mimi Says:

I’ve read online that Peyton is done and focusing on college. I’ve also read online that Nica and her parents were really unhappy with the decision to take Nica out of their Rio training group.

I think it’s good that KZB is realistic with her gymnasts. At least she isn’t deluding gymnasts and their parents and continuing to charge them what I presume is very expensive fees for elite training.

    • G Says:

Why is Gabby listed under CA if she trains in OH? I doubt she can commute across the country so what’s the deal?

On another note, I’m going to Classics and I’m really pumped to get to watch some of these girls in person! Especially Aly in her US competition debut since her comeback.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I think they put the gymnast’s permanent residence (or whatever she considers her permanent address), not necessarily where they reside or where their gym is. I’ve seen it for a few others in the past. Like for Finnegan, it used to always say St. Louis, even though she lived and trained in Kansas City.

I went to Classics the last 2 years but can’t this year. So jealous (in a good way) lol

      • G Says:

Lol I went last year too and that was my first time attending any type of meet. I had the best time and met Mckayla Maroney (my mom and i waited in the autograph lopine for two hours abd got the last two spots!) Jordan Chiles and Lexie Preissmen. I didnt exoect to be able to go this year but bought tickets last minute and my whole (Somewhat clueless about gymnastics) family is tagging along, it should be fun and I’m hoping to meet some more athletes!

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I used to live in Chicago so I was able to go the last 2 years. Not in Chicago at the moment. It was awesome. Nothing beats seeing Simone in person lol. In 2013, Jordyn did the signing so I got that which was fun!. Gabby was in the audience in 2013; I sat 2 rows behind Natalie but I didn’t care enough to come up haha. Have fun!

      • G Says:

Thanks! I’ll let you guys know how it goes!

      • Gymnast41 Says:

I’ll be at classics and nationals! Should be fun πŸ™‚

      • G Says:

Ooh nationals too? That’s awesome! I’m going to the trials next year but it seems so far away. For now Classics should hold me over lol

  12. Ilanchik20 Says:

    Maroney in 2015:

So if I’m reading in between the lines: Marta won’t let her compete at Nationals but will let her petition (and presumably approved) to compete at the world’s selection camp. Is it possible Marta knows something we don’t? Conspiracy in the making lol

    • G Says:

So is she training now? The article is confusing.

    • Gymnast41 Says:

This just sounds like an article to please the annoying people who keep asking nbc why Mckayla isn’t on the roster or competing this year. Nothing about this article mentions she’s training (or trying to petition) except when they mentioned she started to train in the beginning of the year ….however they said she’s not at All Olympia so where is would she be? I’m just as confused

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Sounds like it’s a way for having people keep their hopes up of seeing Maroney in Rio. The only way that’s happening at all is if she comes up with that triple twisting yurchenko vault. Otherwise she’s staying at home.
I kind of get the impression her knee recovery isn’t going as well as she would like and she might have to pull a Shawn and announce “retirement” right before nationals next year. We’ll see. I don’t have my hopes up.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

She allowed NASTIA to make trials because she wanted ratings. She all of a sudden gave Mohini scores to make the Olympic team because ahe was being sponsered by a whore. Only reason McKayla would be given the same is because of the attention it brings . IMO McKayla makes this Olympic team if she consistently hits the TTY other wise it will be a huge struggle even if she has her 2 vaults back.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

word on the street is shes done her knee cant be fixed

      • Case Says:

That’s the gossip I’ve heard as well, that her knee is worse than she is letting on.

      • Mimi Says:

She seems so lost. Shame about the knee if it’s true. If the injury is mainly from that stupid tour injury I’ll be so pissed, what a waste.

      • aerial Says:

She does seem so lost. Reading her quotes and seeing the same selfies makes me hope she’s getting the help she needs. Some of these athletes truly seem to struggle and I understand why. Some people never seem able to actually state what’s going on or come to terms with it (a la Rebecca Bross). Maroney still seems in the middle of it. And I guess we’re not owed definitive statements at any point, but in terms of Maroney… hope she’s OK.

  13. Cupquaked Says:

  14. Gymnast41 Says:

Heard on tumblr aly-4th bailie-5th GD-6th and kyla-8th in addition to other camp scores. Not really sure they’re accurate but kyla 😦 girl what is happening?

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

This is what Maroney puts up the day the NBC article comes out. Ugh.

      • Uglyfatkid Says:

Nothing says I’m training really hard to make the next Olympics, quite like a pouty lipped cleavage shot.

      • fatam Says:

Looks like she hasn’t learned her lesson. She’s basically teasing and inviting hackers to do it again.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

the false eyelashes defiitely reek of marta fashion….

    • JAS4 Says:

Maybe Kyla wasn’t competing full difficulty or had some falls or something? Unless it’s Marta scoring to push Kyla into a bars/beam position again. If McKayla’s knee won’t let her do gymnastics anymore maybe she could transition to trampoline or diving.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I don’t pay much attention to the camp scores. They are always inflated and will never hold up in an actual competition (not even in the U.S) and def not internationally. It’s prob just Marta playing games.

Maggie been top 2 AA the last few months and #1 on bars. I like Nichols but if she is our #1 bar worker and top 2 AA, we are in trouble lol (Amanar or not).

And then Ally B as 3rd AA. She is not that particularly consistent–I doubt they’ll hold be too, haha.

I think Aly, Kyla and Bailie will be fine.

      • Uglyfatkid Says:

If Kyla is falling, I honestly think it’s a good thing. Perhaps it means she is competing upgrades that she hasn’t fully gotten used to yet. I would rather have Kyla go full out at camp and fall all over the place, if that means she is getting the experience and training she needs on difficult upgrades. At the end of the day, she will always pull back a skill for competitions if she isn’t ready to compete something, so I think falling now is perfectly fine. As other people have said, camp scores mean jack.

    • gymnerd Says:

      Dear McKayla,

We don’t want to see them!!!!

      Your Gym Fans

  15. Ilanchik20 Says:

Apparently N’s account was hacked too. I kind of wish I knew/saw what was posted. I’m assuming it’s something negative given her post about it. Maybe she needs the Gabby’s hacker instead haha

  16. Exgymgurl Says:

predictions for pan am wag aa winner? guess it depends on who rhonda picks for aa

    • Exgymgurl Says:

skaggs, hundley and desch are the three doing AA in team to qual, gowey ub/bb schilds fx/ vt.. my guess is desch / meals qual, and meals could win that would be awesome

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Haha, I just posted this too.

Let’s just root for Amelia! I thought Schild was doing 3 events, oops lol. That makes more sense haha

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

I saw the start lists somewhere. It’s 5-4-3

      I thinks it’s:
      AA: Amelia, Desch, Skaggs
      BB/Bars: Gowey
      Vault/Beam/floor: Schild

Desch is so inconsistent. It’s hard to sag. I’m rooting for Amelia but with Jlo and Ellie might be hard.

  17. Ilanchik20 Says:

Just turned the Pan Ams. Elfi is commentating with some guy Mitch. I’m almost excited to hear her again lol

  18. Ilanchik20 Says:

This is prob the first time Shawn is wearing white/cream in tears. She looks great! And wow, Alicia is still very much in shape! I say it’s time for another comeback haha

  19. Ilanchik20 Says:

This is prob the first time Shawn is wearing white/cream in years. She looks great! And wow, Alicia looks super fit–I think it’s time for another comeback, haha!

Assorted thoughts… Sac looks incredible. Poor Shawn with that Mary Lou Retton build. (except side note WTF up with MLR – she is so tiny in pictures now and looks sick – far smaller than her very athletic teen children?? So clearly cancel my comparison above.)
Excited to attend Pan Ams if we can get into the city – holy gridlock. Even with a C list Am team and a who knows? Canadian team, it’ll be a fun life experience. We can get into Canada House and the internal bars, and in the common areas there’s big concerts and Cirque du Soleil. I was “meh” since entering the ticket lottery last year but watching the Opening Ceremonies last night and seeing former Olympians running the torch around the top of the CN Tower, and watching the 600 US athletes and 700 CAN march into the dome, I was reminded of the spirit of Games such as these and am happy to attend, even if the US girls won’t get anywhere close to a World or Olympic team.
I too am rooting for Amelia! Sometimes underdogs that are really nice people are the most fun to cheer for πŸ™‚

Shawn would have looked so much better with heals. She is to short for that outfit.
