Bored gym fan here thought the blog needed an update but bored gym fan is too lazy to blog. I promise to get to the Wedding blog part 2 eventually but the new job is literally killing me.

Anything knew with you????

I need for the elite season to be back on.

    Pan Am Slelection/+camp started today.

    Rebecca Andrade tore her ACL.

    • Melanie Says:

I was just going to bring up Andrade! So sad. Hope she can recover a la Mustafina in time for Rio.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

      Who’s Rebecca Andrade?

      • gymbot Says:

She was the top Brazilian Junior – she possessed an amanar. She’s also noted for her dynamic tumbling – her music is either famously/infamously a beyonce mix, depending on your tastes.

She had a prior knee or ankle injury in her last year a junior, which is why Saraiva was selected to represent Brazil at the Youth Olympic Games last year. After missing out on a bunch of competitions, Andrade came back with a very respectable bars (for Brazil) earning mid 14 scores (where her compatriots score in the mid 13s). Her beam was solid too, but nothing to write home about. She easily could have scored 58+ in the AA.

      • gymbot Says:

She was a first year senior this year – could have been a great help in getting a full team to the Olympics

    • gymbot Says:

This is terrible news for Brazil. I saw Jade Barbosa is back, but only on bars and beam. I think Leticia Costa is their only gymnast with a DTY. It’ll be tough for them to qualify a team now, but I think they could qualify a team to the test event.

  2. Ilanchik20 Says:

And I just saw that Lauren Mitchell was pulled from Universade case she injured injured her knee in training.

And the season of injuries begins.

  3. JAS4 Says:

I hope Andrade and Mitchell are able to recover quickly. I am ready for the elite season to start in the US as well. It will be interesting to see who has upgrades.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Mitchell should not compete at all unless it’s a big meet like worlds

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I know! Ahh. What is Liddick doing over there? Ugh.

And now it sounds that Mitchell has an ACL injury. Hope she comes back for Rio.

  4. JAS4 Says:

    This routine is really good

    • sanitynmotion Says:

This is where I say we need to get rid of the age rule. That chick should be competing for elite medals now while she can and before she grows/gets injured. I feel like so many girls lose their “peak” years before turning 16 in this sport and let’s face it – the new rule does not prohibit them from practicing harder skills early on. This video is case in point.

    • Sainabou Nyang Says:

Beautiful routine. Ive never seen a chinese gymnast so confident.

  5. Uglyfatkid Says:

Congrats on the new job GTT. Sorry it’s killing you. Is this a new main job or a new part time one (I think I remember you saying that you have two)?

I changed companies a year ago, and I am just starting to feel like I am up to speed. I’m doing the same job, but the learning curve at a new place always sucks. And being the new person is always fun, especially when you are in a position of authority. I’m just starting to feel like people are starting to trust me. Isn’t building relationships at work super fun (eye roll)???

Anywho, on the gymnastics front things couldn’t be any more dead. To quench my yearnings I have been watching old YouTube videos. I went and watched 2008 trials, and I have to say that The Devil really did peak at the exact right moment. She had major errors at competitions leading up to EFs, and she suddenly pulled it out. Pure luck. Then Gaggy came and did the same thing (minus her choking in beam finals…LOL). The over scoring by the judges helped a ton too (in both cases), but I can’t help but think of what luck it all is (in regards to peaking).

I don’t think anyone can touch Simone unless she headcases, but it makes me wonder who is magically going to peak at the right time and suprise people for that second place finish (at worlds or Rio).

    • Gymnast41 Says:

I’ve been doing the exact same, watching all comp vids from 2012-2015 and looking at the comments on here we made way back when 😂 haha. I have no life, but wow. I almost forgot how sudden Gabby’s rise was and it’s almost scary. What if someone like maggie nichols or even mckayla skinner just suddenly creep up on simone? Unrealistic but I am expecting someone to be that “unexpected star” that just shows up in 2016 to make things interesting.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

i think its ragan smith. i think nastia is bored with her own wedding, i dont think she got the sponsors she thought she would to pay for everything

      • Case Says:

Right, and People magazine wouldn’t dedicate the 8 page spread to the wedding that she was sure she would get.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

lol I am sure her new shine agency tried but People wouldn’t budge:)

      • H Says:

First, thanks JAS4, more videos to be watched during this sigh nothing happens periode …(seems like the new group of chinese gymnasts, more of them than before, are better suited for the power events) Interesting for the future.

I am also wondering who could be the new “unexpected star”. If not a star, I think Megan Skaggs will have great progress in the coming months as well Jazmyn Foberg. I see both as “smart” gymnast vs Gabby more like pure potential kind of type topped up with Chow as a coach in previous cycle.

But is it really possible that an ” unexpected star ” goes in as the second all arounder in Rio, or is it more likely that it is a specialist?

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I think Norah and Regan will be way better next year.

Norah because it’s Chow’s plan. Even during Jesolo he said that there are a lot of upgrades coming. I predict she’ll be more than a good bars/beam worker next year.

And Regan will likely have major d upgrades on beam/floor. I’m not sure she can do much about her bars but she is already doing a DTY so she’ll be the Aly of the last squad. Marta been inviting her to camps for years now so I think something we don’t know is up.

In my perfect world, Sydney Sharp would improve drastically but prob won’t happen. I’m thinking maybe Abbie (from Nichol’s gym) could get significantly better. Also I bet Desiderio will be a new Price next year.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I’ve been watching a bunch of videos too and surprised by so many similarities between Nastia/Gsbby. Both had good nationals/trials and were so close to their rivals (Shawn/Jordyn). Looking back, it seems obvious that if Nasta/Gabbg then tgey would best their corresponding rivals. I can’t believe I didn’t see it during the actual meets. Jordyn’s beam didn’t help but I think even with a better beam, Gabby was going to beat her. Ugh.

Watching 2008, made me remember Beager and Shayla. Shayla, what a mess, ugh. But I wonder why Marta told the judges to low-ball Janna? I don’t remember much about that.

And can we have another Olympics Wagless?

P.S. Poor Mitchell, they think its an ACL with her too. How was Peggy so good with Shannon but it’s almost always a mess n Australia? Sigh.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Jana wasn’t low balled per say. She fell twice at camp off bars and no way Marta was taking her for bars if she couldn’t hit when she needed to.

Peggy helped them win multiple medals on the world stage but they don’t really have any real talent to begin with. Can’t get blood from a stone.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Yeah falling twice on bars isn’t good, especially when you have to prove yourself to Marta. Her scores just seemed kind of questionable at Nationals and Trials. I love Sloan so I’m fine with Marta here lol

      • gymtruthteller Says:

If Gabby had not been given credit for her leap and missed connections this discussion would not exist. I still blame the beam judges

      • G Says:

I love watching the old comps. There are a few girls who just faded away. Does anyone know what happened to (Nd I know I’m going way back) Lindsey Wing and more recently Abigail Millet?

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

        Didn’t Lindsey compete for Nebraska?

Abby Millet retired from elite and just finished freshman year at Auburn NCAA. I live in Auburn so I went to all the home meets this year. it was nice to see her skills finally appreciated (unlike Marta).

Plus Auburn made Super 6 this year which was awesome!

      • JK Says:

The fact that Gabby kept getting credit for the switch ring leap that wasn’t a switch ring leap still annoys me. Yes, if Gabby was scored appropriately on beam, Jordyn would have qualified ahead of her (and possibly might have won AA).

There is a part of me that wishes Gabby goes to Worlds just so that I could see the look on her face when her switch ring leap gets downgraded to a switch leap by the judges (which is basically what that is). But then again, the judges might go easier on her since that’s the story of her life. I’m torn. 🙂

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I really get the impression Gabby isn’t serious and is not “in” at all. That might be just me though.

I agree about the beam credits but I think those were given to her as “insurance” for her floor, which was never 100% solid and whoever is pulling the puppet strings wanted to make SURE that Gabby would be in the AA finals. That was so evident. And even if Jordyn’s beam weren’t iffy on the connections or whatever, the judges/puppet master would have found a way to reduce her score so that she wouldn’t make it.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I think she is serious but I also think the free pass Nastia got is already being given to Gabby who has missed part of one camp because she was “sick” and all of another for a ” minor foot injury” IMO her injury snd “sickness” are all related to a reality show she is filming

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

There is some gossip on Tumbler today that Gabby is not in camp (again) despite being listed as attending by USA gymnastics (release). I guess we’ll have to see if anyone posts any pics.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Gabby has already proven more than Nastia did with her “comeback” but this is already starting to sound like Nastia’s comeback.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Judges only seem to downgrade Kyla. Gabrielle would probably get credit

      • gymnerd Says:

Ilanchik – I’m pretty sure Wing went to Stanford. The snarky part of me wants to say she turned around sideways and disappeared. She looked so horribly underfed as an elite.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Thank you very much. The new job is great and with the few extra dollars I make I got to quit my second job, It’s a lot of work but it’s better than my old job so I am fine with all the new work. My last boss never appreciated anyone or anything extra we did. So far my new boss isn’t like that. I am not one of those people that needs to be praised for every little thing I like being left alone to accomplish things but with the last boss you could stay all night and finish her work and the word thank you wasn’t in her vocabulary and it just made for a poor work enviroment. 3 of us quit on her in the last few months and we are a lot happier at our new jobs:)

  6. Cupquaked Says:

I’m so bored I rewatched the Sydney AA, TF, and EF. I still don’t get why they didn’t let Raducan keep her medal. And apparently she tried to appeal the decision again a few days/weeks? ago and they denied her again. Your blog wasn’t around then, what did you think of the whole thing?

    • G Says:

I know, it makes no sense. Andreea was a great athlete and deserved those medals. She was the bright spot out of those Olympics since the US tanked.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

They are stupid. They need to reinstate Andreea’s win back. Ridiculous. If USA got their bronze from 2000, Andreea should her hard earned medals. I know the two things are totally unrelated but in my mind it’s all the same lol

      • gymtruthteller Says:

That is my biggest issue with all of this. The IOC and the FIG ( which automatically changes to fug on the boys auto spell check ironically) is there is no consistency with their decisions. Kim Gwaung Suk loses title but silver medalists don’t get gold yet US team gets medal. They all knew Gutsu wasn’t injured and that Gogean and Marnescu and SIlivas were under age and did nothing about it and now claim statute of limitations. It’s Bull shit. It isn’t even an American thing because Miller and Gutsu should have tied for gold in 91 yet when North Korea was caught cheating it wasn’t given to Miller or Tatiana who were from 2 powerful Countries. WHY?

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I am torn. Andreea earned the medal that day but with the vault height a lot of gymnasts got screwed that competition and what if’s should be for everyone not just Andreea. I am not an Olympic athlete and never have been but even I know NO medication. Belu tried to pull one over on the Olympics by giving them all banned medication and he got caught. Other gymnasts that had colds didn’t get relief and I don’t believe for a second Belu didn’t know what he was doing.

  7. sanitynmotion Says:

Ah, new jobs. Such a pain we have to work and yet I have family who I technically “support” via my taxes because they don’t “feel” like working so they collect welfare. Forever. Then they breed their kids to do the same thing. I should shut up, but today of all days it’s hard to send your kid off to grandma’s so you can be in front of a computer hating life. Meanwhile my family members are spending time with their kids. Sure, they live in an apartment (not a house, but even then my “house” is as big as an apartment) but they still enjoy Disneyland passes. Don’t even get me started.

  8. Gymbee Says:

Well done on the new job. Too bad it’s killin you 😦 I’m feeling the same at the moment. It’s 19:00 and I am still in the office, my brother and parents back in Norway are done at work like at 16:00 (normal in Norway) and are shocked that I am still at work at 19 (I live in London.)

Then a 1.5 hr commute to get home….. at least I got a kindle! 🙂

  9. JAS4 Says:
    • Cupquaked Says:

Someone on Facebook reposted the video of her turning away during the Soviet national anthem at the medal ceremony for floor exercise, when she had to share the gold medal with Larisa Petrik from the Soviet Union. Did they play the Czech anthem too?

  10. Diana (@dianajc99) Says:

wing went to stanford and was a key player there.
she won beam at pac-10’s all four years ( some were ties)

    • Aerial Says:

Lindsey Wing – I couldn’t bear to look at her. Most emaciated gymnast of recent times. Viewers were stunned at the time her family supported her elite training and not getting her into rehab. I also heard at some point she wasn’t allowed to compete due to her illness, but I’m not sure if that was elite or NCAA.

    • G Says:

Thanks for the info and yeah I always thought she looked too thin. Rachel Gowey reminds me a bit of her.

  11. Gymnast41 Says:

Wanted to mention something I’ve found out throughout the weeks that’s “top secret” 😉 So apparently GD is trying to upgrade her bars with a khorkina, floor with a double lay, beam with a full in, and has her amanar back in effort to better compete with kyla and aly (I have connections with Buckeye). What’s funny to me is that we have never even seen these upgrades on video..ever. So whatever she has up her sleeves she clearly doesn’t want anyone to know (not a bit surprised) 😒

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Well that’s interesting. I guess we’ll see. She still has to prove competitiveness when it counts, and in my book she has yet to prove that. That’s where Aly/Kyla/Simone have her.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Me believe it when me see it:)

      • Gymnast41 Says:

I personally believed she virtually had no chance at ever being competitive enough (or even compete really lol) until I heard this (and now I only do slightly). But then again with her focusing on her reality tv show and media endorsements I could see her compete these skills and fall flat on her face 🙂

      • gymnerd Says:

        We can hope. 😀
