As we all know by now Nastia Liukin is engaged. I couldn’t let this momentous occasion go by without buying my favorite gymnast a gift (You’re welcome Nastia., No really you’re welcome) so without further ado my gift to Nastia Liukin is me planning her Wedding. Yep from the Dress down to the venue to the flowers and invitations Jas and I have hand picked out every tiny detail you could possibly need for your very first Wedding (Thanks Diana’s mom)…. of the Century.

Save the date everyone. Nastia will be married before the All Around at the 2106 Olympics. Share the joy as Nastia and her first husband Matt Lombardi of BC (Boston College not Before Christ) hockey “fame” become one. The date will be August 11th 2016. 4 hours before the AA takes place.
The Wedding invitations will also be partially Hot pink and feature Nastia’s name in hot pink embossed lettering and will include a DVD of her 2008 AA Gold medal winning performance. The invitation itself will feature a picture of Nastia’s AA gold medal to remind every she won the AA (not Shawn Johnson.)
Flowers will consist of 8 hot pink Roses that will represent the ones Nastia was given during her victories at the 2008 Olympics (especially during the AA) The original flowers were red but Nastia will of course dye hers hot pink. The leaves will also be died pink and will consist of six leaves of fragrant plantain lilies (hostas), six pieces of ophiogon japonicus (grass), hypericum berries (St. John’s wort) and obedient plant (physostegia).
The Table setting will be Gold and Hot pink of course and feature a giant head of Nastia as the place setting.
Part 2 will include the Wedding Dress, Honeymoon and Bridesmaids

you forgot to mention that the dress will have a form fitting competition leotard type bodice with a pink train (cape) with gold super girl emblazoned outlined with light up flashing fairy lights on it as a throwback to her supegirl by nastia line at jcpenny. She will also have a pink jetpack where she can fly away.
when asked if anyone objects he xexin will stand up and object that nastia should have her bars gold from beijing because nastia was obviously superior.

oh just fyi i watched 2012 olympics again, wieber noticibly limps and puts no weight on her right leg esp after team final. she was in a lot of pain she wasnt admitting to to keep her spot on the team.

She was in such a tough spot. If she admits she’s too hurt to compete then Marta boots her off the team. If she keeps it quiet then people think she choked. No win situation.

It’s so unfortunate that things worked out that way –between her (hidden) injury and Geddert’s stupid beam connection, ugh. I wish she could have said she was in pain and stayed on a team (this is why I hate a 4 person team for 2020. There is no way anyone who makes a 4 person team in the U.S will admit to an injury. Stupid). Marta should have give! Her that, since I’m sure Jordyn’s injury was Marta’s non-stop camps before Olympics. I’m sure if she could have rested a day or two before qualifications, it could have went differently (and then maybe we wouldn’t have had to deal with Gabby still). She should be proud for how she did, given her pain.
I hope if Geddert has another athlete get to that level, he learned something. He has an up an coming athlete for 2020 (Delanie Harkness), which I really like. Fingers crossed.

It’s not unfortunate at all its down right tragic. Marta knowing her beam was weak and not saying a word and coach idiot being blindly arrogant thinking the world champion would get the benefit anyway. They cost Jordyn her shot at winning and the Bram judges cost her a chance to compete. Gabrielle getting credit for connections and leaps that were cheated an missed all together is why Jordyn was robbed of her AA chance.

Wasn’t Geddert forewarned too about those connections? I believe Marta saw an opportunity to be passive aggressive and took it. She had the US judges give Jordyn some of the credit for those knowing full well that at the Olympics, they’d cost her. Then totally overscoring Gabby on beam at quals – that was the tragedy there. No way was that score legit.
The beam judges ensured Gabby would go to the AA by giving her a fatty cushion into the last event. Even if Jordyn had had a perfect floor, they would have “found” a few deductions to leave Jordyn out. I think Geddert saw the writing on the wall after Gabby got her beam score, and then really knew it after Jordyn got her beam score. I remember him screaming at her that she needed to “kill” her floor or something like that to stay in.

I don’t think Marta didn’t want Jordyn to win per say I think she would have been happy if she had won if Gabrielle had fallen but Marta always picks her favorites. She always backs certain gymnasts and Jordyn was not one of those people. Same with Nastia vs Shawn. Nastia fell 5 or 6 times at Nationals and trials in 08 and still almost beat Shawn. Marta would have settled for Shawn but it was clear she wanted Nastia.
Maybe Marta figured Jordyn would go off to UCLA no matter what even if she had won and she thought there is no way stupid can’t string two coherent sentences together Gabrielle could even get into a Junior College. If Gabrielle had played her cards right she could have been a huge superstar especially in the African American community but even they seem to have forgotten about her.

Geddert didn’t really know or at least wasn’t warned the Marta kind of way. She knew but she didn’t care enough to push Geddert to fix Jordyn’s beam. I mean, even Elfi and Tim said multiple times during broadcasts how surprised they were by the connection scores she was getting. If they could see it, it was written on the wall but Geddert did what Marta told him, which in this case was nothing.
Marta needs to stop with these many camps right before Olympics. I know every practice counts but if lets say Nastia or Shawn went down in 2008 (in addition to the Sam and Chellsie), Marta’s medal hopes of any color would have been flushed before her eyes. Like if Jordyn, we would have been sort of screwed, unless she would bring Price instead, which was going to happen (image didn’t like her either and I don’t think anyone from Parkwttes is making an Olympucs team anytime soon. I get a vibe Marta doesn’t like them lol). So really 2/5 Fierce Five were injured m, thanks to Marta.
Larry has said multiple times they pretty much won’t use an alternate because of what happened in 2000 so I don’t see why Marta is trying to kill her top athletes. But as far as Jordyn goes, I always had a feeling Marta didn’t like her. If Jordyn was iffy at trials and she didn’t have to take her, she would have left her at home so Jordyn should be proud–all she accomplished was her work, she got no favor unlike some others, ugh.
It’s like U.S will be willing by 6+ points so if they have one or two less practices and only win by 4 points, that’s still ok lol

Bela pushed the athletes and Morgan got hurt which was sort of a mental breakdown for the team too.
Olympic committee has a policy that if the hurt athlete is replaced, they are never mentioned as a team member, have to return all Olynpics memorabilia and cannot be anywhere near the village or athletes (which would really mess with team dynamics) so basically it looks like Morgan never existed. In one of the interviews, Larry (the doctor) said that U.S tries to never replace their athletes because they don’t want that person’s presence erased. This is why they kept Sam on because they weren’t about to erase the presence Luan’s daughter off the team permanently.
Apparently Kathy and USA gymnastics tried to fought this rule after 2000 but no one would budge.

Sam got hurt during podium training for prelims. There was no way they could replace her with the alternate at that time so replacing her would have helped no one.

Either way, Larry pretty much said that try to do everything in their power to enable the athlete to compete, which to me says, unless their foot is broken or you are in a wheelchair, the alternate won’t be used lol. And even if the athlete, with only top 3 needed, the alternate won’t be needed

Sam hurt her foot during prelims warm up. According to NBC when they showed her crying so no Jana couldn’t have replaced her. I really don’t think I am mis-remembering this. Chellsie was hurt earlier but Sam was hurt during warm up.

That makes more sense. For whatever reason, I thought she got a day or two before prelims started. Or was that Chellsie? I never liked Jana’s gymnastics so I don’t think it’s such a lose. I agree, score wise, it would have made little difference.
It’s a good thing Jordyn wasn’t totally out. No matter what, she has that team gold! And for everything else, Marta and Geddert are a-holes. I do hate that Aly got blamed for pushing Jordyn out of her spot when it was not Aly’s fault at all. Ugh.

Geddert knew they would not be credited but he didn’t care.He has eyes. He didn’t need Marta to notice her connections weren’t even close. I am not yelling at you I just get annoyed that Geddert was so damn arrogant he just thought she would get credit for the connections because she was the world champ. It’s why Nunno pissed me off so much in 2000. He fought with USAG when they told him the Miller and her back handspring quarter turn would be considered the same skill and he wouldn’t listen when they told him. He was actually fighting with them and telling them they were wrong. They were right but he was too stubborn to see what was in front of him and refused to listen until it was too late (at trials) Both of these coached screwed their athletes with their arrogance.
Price came out of no where in 2012. You are 100% right that no one wants a Parkette on their Olympic team. Marta had her favorite gyms and that one is not one of them.

I think she really did win in the long run. She’s now known for being an incredibly tough competitor full of grace and class for the way she handled the situation. Those qualities last much longer than medals. And she will be known for being the infamous victim of the stupid 2 per country rule. And if that rule ever does change their prime example will be London 2012 because we all know that she, above anyone else that night, deserved to be in that All around competition.

A lot of people who loved her will forget about her because she didn’t win gold and I guarantee you in 10 years only the die hards will remember the classy way Jordyn handled herself. Knowing this now, it was probably a good thing she didn’t make the AA competition. The whole thing sucks though because I believe Geddert did everything he could to protect Jordyn from injury – it was Marta’s ways with training that got her there. I knew someone would be injured at the Games. It always happens w/Marta. That’s why she needs to have the whole team be solid AA’rs. How horrible would it have been in 2008 had what happened to Sam and Chellsie ended up happening to Shawn and Nastia.

Last time she was sent a lot of hate messages by anon’s she accused someone else of being that person because she said they just unfollowed her so they had to be the same person She accused this secret gymnastics group a friend of mine has on facebook of being racists someone brought that up tonight and she played stupid. That was awhile ago my friend quit the group cuz the leader of it let her mods act like Abomb.

I kind of felt the same way, but only because I thought Marta didn’t like her for some reason. If Marta don’t like you, well….we all know how that works out. Maybe she decided to go back now and skip being placed on Team Banned (aka pan ams). Well if she has a solid amanar, I can see her potentially being a replacement for Skinner even at the Olympic level, assuming she’s going for the specialist spot. She’s got decent bars but not consistent. She’s got better form than Skinner and is probably more consistent on vault and even floor…
This whole team change (4 AA’ers) kind of sucks because it allows more gymnasts this “hope” they can make it, given all of the potential specialists in the US. The only real solid AA’ers we have right now are Biles, Ross, Raisman, and Key. That will likely be the team right there. Two specialists? If those four I just mentioned can’t go for a specialist type spot (which would suck), I can see room for Dowell (in lieu of Skinner) – and especially Maroney if she comes back.
I still think the “base four” will be what Marta uses for the most part (on the team and specialist events) and as for the two left, Marta will either use them only in case one of the base four are injured or if one of them happens to be EXTREMELY good at an event. Like Maroney-good on vault. That kind of a thing.
But overall those added 2 I can see being benched for the most part (at the Olympics).

This is why I have thought all along Skinner would make the team. She will compete Vault Floor in TF and Kyla will compete Bars / Beam / 4 VT and 4 Flr. Aly competes Floor, Beam ( vault 4/5) Simone competes Vault Beam Floor Bars
That leaves Bailie Key to compete Bars. That makes more sense than a Bars specialist because Key can plug in anywhere as a solid fourth place competitor. Or Maggie Nichols. People forget Aly only competed Floor and Beam in TF in London. That is a DARN solid team either way. Rumor has it Nichols validated an Amanar.

Even though I feel like Marta doesn’t like Brenna that much, I sort of wonder if she starts hitting like crazy this next year if she won’t give skinner a run for her money. I agree. I wish she would come back with a different coach. I’m not sure who but someone who can improve her bars and vault consistency and then just raise her other two events to her pre NCAA level. Maybe Gym Max or AAOC.

This is where I state my claim that most gymnasts are dumb and can’t see the writing on the wall. If she stays with Fong, she’s not going anywhere. If we can see it, how can’t she or even her family.
I kind of think that the new rules (4 team members, 2 specialists) gave her renewed hope as to the specialist spot. She’s not consistent enough to be an AA’er, but she’s probably targeting the phantom “Anna Lee” spot and figures if she can get an amanar back, she’s got a good chance. I don’t see why not since the US doesn’t have as many amanars this quad as last quad. Unless Aly gets hers back, then Brenna could be screwed by that.
Really the specialist needs to be Maroney again, fully back. She has the vault (and if she can get the 3 Yurchenko or whatever she’s golden) and has a decent floor to where she can jockey for a spot if they need her to fill that void. As I see it though it will be Biles and Raisman doing the floor spots. Kyla and Biles or Aly for beam…Kyla (maybe) and ?? for bars (Key?)…Biles and ?? for vault. Dammit, I really can’t have Skinner on this team.

You are talking about Ashton and Maddie Kocian (Woga). Ashton had surgery a few months ago and has back problems. She is literally a one event person. I love her bars but can’t imagine Marta taking her. And Maddie is hurt, as always!
Key and Ross have decent bars. Also, Norah has awesome bars and I’m sure she’ll upgrade more next year. But so can Gabby, ugh.

And to add, I don’t think Gabby’s bars are strong enough or near strong enough to warrant a Rio spot. That Ashton chick is better – even that one Woga chick at this point. Sounds like her injuries have changed her mindset and she’s gaining the confidence she needs. I always believed if Komova would fight through her errors (attack skills with more confidence) she could have beaten both Weiber and Douglas (her especially).
The European Games sound really interesting! Anyone know what channel/website to catch it on?

She was not really a favorite of mine last quad, she just seemed so young to me? (That being said, I still wish she would have won the London AA over Gabby…I wish anyone would have won the London AA over Gabby…) I think I will appreciate her gymnastics more this time around…seems like she’s grown up a bit since London, plus it sounds like she’s been through a lot in the past few years. Will be interesting to see video of her routines at these European Games. I’ve never heard of that meet either…does anyone know what it is? It it new?

I never enjoyed Vika, prob because of all that drama in 2011 with her and Jordyn. But I would gladly be happy had she won in 2011.
European Games is a new meet–this is the first. It’s kind of like Pan Ams but from what I read, the format is more like Jesolo (in terms of qualifications except it’s one per country so it’s entirely possible Aliya will make all finals but no the other 2 Russians competing (Vika and Seda). It’s 3-2-2 for team finals.

Lauren is being paranoid. She deleted a bunch of people from her social media thinking they are all you and some other girl who she thinks is out to get her. Girl is losing it.
