Wow. The lines on this girls tumbling is just gorgeous. Her leaps need work but she has great potential to take her floor routine to the next level. That was one beautiful double layout and the lay out to double front was also gorgeous. Her dance isn’t perfect but it wasn’t bad either. She is one to watch.
Shannon won another award.

The form on her double front reminds me of Ivana Hong’s!

I thought the same – I hope she makes the cut to get on the world team this year.

Did you know that Gutsu lives in Michigan now?
I’m re-watching 1996 (my procrastination, ha) AA and I was googling some stuff so this interview come up. Interesting!

I did. She has a son with no father of course.
April 29, 2015 at 12:00 PM
She talked about him in the interview. And I just wanted to know who the father was.
Maybe Geddert should have hired her so she can teach Jordyn how to do beam or wait, it’s Geddert’s fault–he should have focused on the difficulty of execution, not stupid connections.
I know the Jordyn rant is random but since she is mentioned in the interview, I had to rant about it. I’ve re watched all sorts of AA competitions (I’m bored lol) but I can’t re watch London AA because I hate to watch Gabby lol

That double front is fabulous!

This is why I enjoy watching the Japanese gymnast. Excellent technique, but the not much difficulty which is a shame.

According to YouTube she has a 6.2 start value. Not bad. Not Simone but not bad.
April 30, 2015 at 4:34 AM
While counting 2 B elements and an A element – impressive how much weight the tumbles carry on floor.

if S Korea and japan got behind gymnastics like they do figure skating USA gymnastics would be in trouble….
April 30, 2015 at 12:41 AM |
In Korea, people favor rhythmic gymnastics more than artistic.
In Japan, people favor male gymnastics more than female.

baby lou retton is back at camp trying to qual elite. peyton ernst is back also. Wonder if we will see any pics of Rhonda Faehn
April 30, 2015 at 12:46 AM |
Prob no Rhonda yet. I thought I read somewhere she doesn’t start until May 15. I don’t think she can leave a university until the semester is over.
But who knows. Maybe there will be some updates. Anyone know if Scott is gonna be there?

USAG posted an article about Sam Peszek and Kytra Hunter. I think you bemoaned the possibility that she would commentate for USAG again – but she is apparently already part of the broadcast team.

Surprisingly enough she is there after all! https://www.facebook.com/171339019679815/photos/a.348675251946190.1073741897.171339019679815/462073960606318/?type=1&theater

skinner has her amanar back…. amanar nation on the rise for rio.
May 1, 2015 at 4:25 AM |
Skinner knows that’s what she needs to even have a shot. It looks like the amanars won’t be as numerous this quad in the US (unless Aly and Gabby get theirs back). So far we only have Skinner, Biles, and…oh yeah, Maroney. If she’s back. Who knows. Am I missing anyone?
May 1, 2015 at 4:30 AM
Yeah she is smart.
I think Bailey been training one. And Nia has one.
I’ve seen videos of Alyssa throwing one but let’s hope she never competes it. Woga and Amanars are a bad, bad idea!
I’m sure Raisman will have hers back by Rio! I’ve heard she is training a 2nd vault too. I’ll laugh if Aly gets a vault medal at Olympics lol (and not Asac).
May 1, 2015 at 4:36 AM
Rumor mill would suggest most of them are planning on amanars. Gowey competed her amanar last year at classic and is back at camp already. Hano was interviewed by arabian punch front’s blog awhile back where she mentioned she was working on getting the amanar down as a priority, before beginning other vaults. I don’t have access to gymnastike gold, but the Texas Dream training documentaries are supposed to reveal that Key was/is training one as well. I also expect Ross to bust one out as well, but that is my speculation.

kyla ross at (at least) 5’6″ tall now is lucky to still have a dty. She will never have an amanar again. Mustafina is now confessing to being 5’5″ Ross towers over Mustafina

look at her next to mustafina. that was 2013 and kyla grew a little more in 2014. its my contention shes 5’7″…. lol
May 2, 2015 at 10:27 AM
I don’t think Kyla is doing an amanar again. I know I read this interview somewhere and it took me some time to find but here is Kyla on her goals and some other Gym Max things. It’s from a few months ago but still.

I read APF’s blog as not now but maybe in the future. In 2013 she continued to train her amanar into the pit, I think it’s a long term goal. Maybe you’re both right for this year. Would her height really affect her vault so much? I feel like her vaulting has only gotten better.
May 1, 2015 at 8:44 PM |
I’m pretty sure Maggie Nichols has been training an amanar for a year or two also. Time to bust out the upgrades!
