  1. JAS4 Says:

I am glad Giulia won. Ellie Downie did well also, especially for being a first year senior.

    • tulip Says:

Me too. Especially after the royal screwing she got in the 2013 World Vault finals. But they had to give the bronze to the North Korean who couldn’t land either one. G was more deserving Imo

    • gymbot Says:

I think Giulia also has some of the better choreography out there on beam. Form errors sure, but her whole routine is connected by movement.

  2. tulip Says:

    And for those interested, Pehzek

    • tulip Says:

      Sorry about the screw up.

Sam Peszek and Kytra Hunter tied for the NCAA AA title tonight and they were both in the first session! Florida, Utah and Stanford to Super Six.

Second session: Alabama, Auburn and Oklahoma advance. LSU blew it. OU had to count a fall and was at risk of not making it

Really strange session. Beam claimed many.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

LSU just melted down on beam with three falls. I so wish they would have put someone besides erin macadeg up who has been falling all season. I had a feeling shed fall, but not gnat and mincie…macadeg has great scoring potential when she hits but shes inconsistent. if they had just benched her and put someone else in they would have made it. then LOmencia Hall going OOB on floor and not making finals. sigh.. I was really pulling for LSU this year

      • Exgymgurl Says:

I like that Sam and Kytra tied for AA. Two great NCAA gymnasts win as Frosh and then again as seniors. Great cap to the last meet of their Stellar NCAA careers. Dont know what Ms Val will do next year without Sams scores holding up the ship.

  3. sainabou nyang Says:

Is it me or has Euro champs just started going downhill? Wasn’t this one the premier events back in the day?

    • Melanie Says:

Well, the European Games this year has attracted some of the major athletes – like Mustafina and Komova – so they’ve decided to skip the European Championships. Most of the major nations would rather send their biggest competitors to Baku because it’s a multi-sport competition with more media coverage.

  4. tulip Says:

Good god. The college judging again. Florida wins due to blatant overscoring and selective blindness. Really really bad again. They beat Utah by .05 on a bar routine by a vault specialist with no release move, bent legs and lack of handstand. Needed a 9.9 to tie and a 9.95 to win. Deserved a 9.8 on a good day. So of course it scored a 9.95. Same score as Sloan’s FYI. what a joke.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I watched most of it. The judges just cheat over and over again and no none says a word.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Why do the judges care about Florida winning? What’s the politics? I’m out of it when it comes to NCAA.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

It’s like all things political. They have their favorites and the teams that make the NCAA money vs the ones that don’t. Georgia gymnasts were treated like royalty a few years ago for what they brought to the University.

It’s like baseball where the Yankees winning is good for the sports pockets because bandwagon central will support it

Paseka’s vaults have improved some, they are still kind of scary but at least it seems like she is trying to improve. I wonder if Marta will be pushing for more Amanars/Chengs now that Russia has Afan with an Amanar, Alla with a Cheng, and Paseka with an Amanar and a Cheng. Although right now they are scoring close to a clean DTY unless they clean up their form.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Cleaner then disgusting is still gross. Her form is atrocious especially pre flight.

      • JAS4 Says:

On the her Cheng in that gif her legs are still all over the place even after she blocks off the table. Giula has some form issues but was much cleaner and not scary. Russia needs to hire Alicia as a vt coach and maybe send a Russian to coach bars for Mihai lol

      • tulip Says:

That was hilarious. I can think of so many situations where a variable of that saying could apply.

So who is Boston competing against for the Olympics?

  6. ilanchik20 Says:

    Greg Marsden announced his retirement.
