Cute! I absolutely adore Silivas – she is by far my favorite gymnast of all time.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

She has potential and Marta loves her ex gymnasts off spring/ ex gymnasts

      • Melanie Says:

Bela only coached her for a few months when she was 8. Then the Karolyis defected. I don’t really count her as a Karolyite. Let’s face it, her form was way too good to be a Karolyi disciple.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

any romanian marta will take credit for.

  2. Exgymgurl Says: baby bars same meet

  3. Exgymgurl Says: this is her dads youtube channel

  4. Exgymgurl Says: her mom is coaching her along with the team coach. totes awkward…. but im not going to tell an olympic champ to get out of my gym.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

      • Exgymgurl Says:

the USAGym faces in the gym says her mom is also one of her coaches. yet her mom is not on staff. she is not age eligible until 2024. I could see Marta sticking around another eight years for this one.

  5. sainabou nyang Says:

Her toe point is better then some of the senior gymnast I see.

Also wtf is everyone going to FL?Are they flush with cash that they are handing out scholorships? The whole national team is gonna be a gator lol. How annoying.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

She finishes her exercises. something they are taught very young in romania. Im sure her mom works with her on toe point every night. This is like Liukin 2.0

    • Exgymgurl Says:

every division one ncaa gymnastics program gets the same number of scholarships. tells you who has committed where. getting big elite names only carries you so far. most of them are hobbled with injuries and NCAA is a long season

    • JAS4 Says:

It seems like most everyone is committing to FL or UCLA lately.

      • exgymgurl Says:

Laurie hernandez is annoying. Bridget Sloan and kytra hunter rule that team. This is Florida last year of greatness. You need two solid AA gymnasts to win national titles and huge supporting cast. They lost alania Johnson. Mackenzie caquatto and bridgey and Kennedy don’t replace those two.

Simone will before she ever gets to UCLA and kyla will end up at stanford. Kocian will be chronicle injured there but fish hano will contribute. Just my 2cents. I think Oklahoma is building the strongest most consistent program, and with Brenna Mack Brannan, Wofford, they have a strong shot this year.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Florida gymnasts even bench player like Macko’s little sis get gifts all the time. Remember BRIDGEY’S 9.950 on floor to tie real winner Oklahoma just what she needed? That was such bull shi t and do not get me started on the gifts they got during the meet.

      • biyatch Says:

Alex McMurtry has the potential to throw 9.9+ on every event for Florida for the next 4 years. Her gymnastics is actually very similar to Kytra, awesome on the leg events can make bars work in NCAA. She’s one of those ninja level 10 who decide to have a life over sticking with elite.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

you are right and i forgot about her. she will do very well with rhonda faehn.

  6. H Says:

The first performance I remember seeing her do.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

When she was lying about her age and should have lost her medals. Yep

My first memory of her is the 88 Olympics and that God awful hair thinking WTF possessed her to get that

I didn’t pay enough attention back then to remember anyone not from the US.πŸ™‚

      • H Says:

lol the hair, so true. I think I never saw any americans back than since the tv mainly focused on the best east germany, soviet and romania. But of course I followed european championships as well so that probably makes me remember more easily those from europe

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I never really knew much about her since I only started paying attention to gymnastics in the early 1990s…

      • exgymgurl Says:

Why did fig take medals from China and not from Romania for age discrimination?

      • Melanie Says:

It’s a good question. Silivas didn’t have a choice about the age falsification, nor did any other athlete from China, North Korea, USSR, you name it…

It’s interesting, but the FIG has only removed medals from China, and they’ve penalized North Korea for both Kim Gwang Suk and Hong Su Jong.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Miller and Gutsu still need their silver medals to be golds because there is no excuse to not give them the medals

      • TrishaG Says:

Because no Romanian (or Soviet) has submitted paperwork to FIG with conflicting birth dates, specifically within 10 years of when they earned the medals. A Chinese gymnast did when she submitted paperwork to be an official for the Beijing Games. North Korea submitted conflicting birth dates on paperwork for several gymnasts while they were still competing. Kim Gwang Suk was “17” for 3 yrs in a row. The FIG caught on in year 3, lol.

After 10 years, the statute of limitations runs out and no medals will be adjusted. It doesn’t matter what the gymnast admits as to their age as long as they keep the original birthdate on all FIG paperwork until 10 years after the last medal they earned.

      • gymbot Says:

Awesome, thanks for the info TrishaG

      • TrishaG Says:

        You’re very welcome!πŸ™‚

  7. Case Says:

So GTT, Lester to the Cubs and now the Sox owners have flown in to meet with Boras about Max. I love Max but he wants $200 million and that is just more than he is worth. He’s good but not that good. I hope Detroit doesn’t knee jerk and open the checkbook for him either.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Lester is an average pitcher that has one great post season. 1 okay post season (where we lost) and one sucky post season. I wrote a blog about his career ERA which is all high 3 or in the middle 4 and no way in hell is he worth 155 million. Theo now has 1 pitcher who will benefit from being in the NL and nothing else and will still be a bad team. So Lester only wants the money and doesn’t care about winning obviously or he wouldn’t have become a Cub.

I didn’t want Lester back at this money. He isn’t worth almost 26 million a season. I have seen him pitch for like 7 or 8 years and he has a few crazy amazing games and then the rest of the time he sucks so I am fine with him leaving what pisses me off is the speech he gave the media last season before the trade where he talks about not needing a big contract where he talks about going somewhere he feels comfortable about how it isn’t about the money and then he goes and takes the biggest offer to play for a team that literally is one of the worst teams in the league.

People continue to act like he would have signed last year for less money which is a big fat lie and they continue to blame the owners for wanting to negotiate but its okay for Lester to negotiate by leaving 4 teams in the lurch so he can have his ego pumped up. That just pisses me off.

Looks like the Sox are going back to the way of the 90’s and having great hitting with suspect pitching good enough to make the post season but not win it all but this sad pathetic starting 5 we have right now is a complete joke. But like I have said before, we cannot win every year and how do you fault a n owner that has 150 million dollar payroll every year which means they are obviously attempting to win? My answer is you can’t. Well you can and I probably will a few times during the season but in the end I know they are doing more than any other team in the league to win and I guess that will be enough. Till teh season starts and I get pissed because we cannot win:)

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Sox are not giving him that money either. They have a budget and they stick to it they also have a limit they will pay any player and IMO this flying to meet Boras is just a discussion.

No player is worth that money not even in scheme of MLB over paid prima donna’s. Max is great but I am with you.

      • sportsfan Says:

After seeing all these deals, I have to wonder what the Sox infield defense is like, cause so far, your entire rotation is all primarily groundball pitchers. It only takes one or two balls getting out of the infield for an avalanche of an inning to start.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Just going off memory Pedroia is awesome. Panda has good range for a big guy and I am pretty sure Napoli has been very good. SS wise I am not sure who we will have playing there when all is said and done. Xander I guess and he will be our hmmmm.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

In the past we have had pitchers like that (Derek LOWE comes to mind) and we have been fine for the most part but we had a different infield back then. Last year with all the rookies we had some bad bad defense but also some amazing defenses by Brock Holt who better still be here when all is said and done or I will be mad.

    • Case Says:

Oh my…Cespedes for Porcello? I think that works out for both teams actually. You get a young starter and we get a legit outfielder, needs filled on both sides. Both players are in their last year before free agency too.

I think you’ll like Rick. He’s a good guy and decent pitcher. He is a contact pitcher though so hopefully he’ll continue his success outside the spacious confines of Comerica. And he’s been durable.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Not happy at all. Sure Porcello will do wonders on his contract year like they all do but I wanted Cespedes hitting in Fenway during HIS contract byear. Mark it now. He will be MVP this year.

      • Case Says:

Hard to say. I’m a little nervous about Cespedes and the buzz about his attitude but hopefully Miggy and Victor can keep him in line. Love his bat in our lineup though. Our rotation looks interesting now: Price, Verlander, Sanchez, Greene and Simon from the Reds. And now you’re up to Bucholz, Porcello, Masterson, Miley & I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Sox get Shields when all is said and done. Max is a Yankee…wish they’d just cut the bull and get it over with.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

But I don’t want James Shields. I hate James Shields. I hate all ex Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Damn it why can’t I run this team.

Yes there were some rumors about Cespedes buts to be honest out sports media isn’t always the most honest. They have been known to leak rumors about people they don’t like.

Our line up are all number 4 starters. Blah

      • Case Says:

Forgot you still have Joe Kelly too.

  8. Ilanchik20 Says:

A clip from full out. I need to watch it if only for ASac’s line!

Jordyn looks somewhat out of shape, especially her face but she seems to be enjoying it!

    • JAS4 Says:

I am guessing it’s because Jordyn probably stopped training completely and we’ve never really seen her where she was completely out of the gym for a long period of time because she was still training at UCLA during her freshman year

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Another badly acted Gymnastics movie filmed more like a cartoon. God help us all

      • sanitynmotion Says:

That’s what I was wondering. Stick It, part 2?

      • Dee Says:

I think I’m the only former gymnast in history that hated stick it. Why can’t there be a non-corn fest gym movie?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

NOT A FORMER GYMNAST BUT I thought that movie was stupid.

    • sainabou nyang Says:

Was Sam Peszek trying to do the Dougie?

Im a sucker for any gymnastics movie so I’ll watch it even if the acting is terrible.

Jordyn definately looks like she stopped training.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Jordyn definitely looks it (no more training) however Asac looks amazing. And we all know she’s retired so is she just staying in great shape?

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I’m just happy that Jordyn is enjoying her new life!

Based on ASac’s tweets I see, she is in the gym a lot–coaching and working out. She does look amazing though. She looks in good enough shape to come back if she wanted to lol

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Isn’t it’s early for Marta to decide this. I hope she sends Bailey as the second person. I hope this changes though and they rest Simone.

      • Case Says:

Jordyn did stop training. She’s on to other things in her life. She still runs avidly like the rest of her family but she’s not in gymnastics shape.

    • Dee Says:

Oh looks like Victoria moors was a stunt double in this. Any word on what she’s been up to lately?

  9. JAS4 Says:

    • Ilanchik20 Says:

Did she officially drop to level 10 or does she has to re qualify to elite? Theories? Lol

      • Dee Says:

Ooooo interesting. I think that means she’s level 10 now. I know around here season has been underway for about a month, but not every one did an “early meet”. And there aren’t any elite level meets in a month, right?

  10. Ilanchik20 Says:

Mohini and Terrin are in the 2015 USA Gym Hall of Fame.

  11. Melanie Says:

Apparently Komova’s back in Germany for another surgery – cyst removal? – and though VRod said that Grishina would be competing at the Voronin Cup, that is also not true. Grishy wasn’t even in Russia when the announcement was made. Reporting fail.

  12. Ilanchik20 Says:

    Katelyn’s update.

At least now we know what season she is talking about :

    • Melanie Says:

Great interview!! It’s clear to see why she and Simone were such good friends…both seem kind, level-headed and relatively well adjusted. It pisses me off that Valerie may have ruined her shoulder for good, but at least she had time to figure out what she wanted from gymnastics. She is a smart girl.

  13. biyatch Says:

  14. Ilanchik20 Says:

New coach for Aliya. Should be interesting to see how it pans out. Maybe he can stop Valentina from completely ruining her.

  15. sportsfan Says:

Mckayla sent a series of very cryptic tweets regarding her current status in gymnastics. She said she hasn’t quit/retired, but that a personal medical issue came up and she didn’t want to make it public. I’ll link to her page so you guys can read for yourselves.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Ah I hate cryptic tweets. “I’ll make a you tube video when I’m ready to share” good lord…

      • Gymbee Says:

She wants enough people to go “oh please share”, so probably in a few days.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

        She wants attention of course

      • sanitynmotion Says:

She only really got a lot of attention through gymnastics, and I’m guessing since that most likely is over that’s the reason she’s been posting all of these suggestive pictures of herself like “oh look how pretty I am.” That girl needs to tone it down. When is she 18 again? I’m actually quite afraid for her because there’s a lot of freaks out there. At least her daddy’s a lawyer.

      • sportsfan Says:

        @sainty- She turned 19 on December 9.

    • gymnerd Says:

      • sanitynmotion Says:

LOL ya wouldn’t be surprised but I’m sure her dad would have had that “taken care of”…

  16. Aerial Says:

Nah, I don’t think so. This screams eating disorder or psychological affliction related to injury to me. Wonder if she’ll ever come back to this topic.
