Was that “Hmm” more of a “not bad for being out of the game for so long” or “why do they do keep doing this?” Just curious. 🙂

In unrelated to the above video news, 2017 Worlds is provisionally going to be Montreal according to FIG via Lauren Hopkins. How exciting for those who are close by!

    • sainabou nyang Says:

Good, I will definately be going. Montreal is only a train ride away.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Maybe I will go. I already know what I will pack. My Boston Bruins back pack. My Boston Bruins Tim Thomas Shirt. My Boston Bruins flip flops. I’ll have to check but I know I have more Boston Bruins stuff and for the occasion I will have to buy a Milan Lucic shirt:)

      • Exgymgurl Says:

should I wear a ray borque avalanche jersey? or a patrick Roy one…. you decide

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I had to look up why Roy hated Montreal.lol but I would go with that.

I have a Bourque 77 sweater somewhere in a box

      • Exgymgurl Says:

because when he was a HAB the coach left him in and let the other team score a whole bunch of points… his last game in a HABS uniform…. then he and borque both won with Colorado!!! I think I will wear a Roy jersey one night and a borque jersey another night

    Oh, dear…

    • Dee Says:

HAHA ok yea that video was a wee rough but it gave me hope that I may someday be able to do gymnastics again LOL

Some news on twitter. Apparently Gaskins left CGA. Back in some gym in Florida. What’s going on in CGA? Hmmm.

    • byrdisthewyrd Says:

That is crazy! Is Mary Lee suicidal? She seemed to really love that kid in the Beyond the Routine episodes. I’m so intrigued.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

She seemed to love her! And I honestly think the reason Lexi left was because all the attention was on Emily. Never could tell how Emily felt.

I want to know how it all went down. Something must have prompted it since the gym she is supposedly at isn’t well known at all. Anyone has an inside info? Lol

      • Tortuga Says:

Maybe she knew Martha hates Mary Lee and she wouldn’t get anywhere with her. However you say the gym she went to isn’t well known. I hope she stays elite. I really enjoy her form.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Yeah, maybe Emily is smarter than we think? Hmm.

Supposedly she is at Intensity Gymnastics in Florida. Who/what is that anyways? Lol I looked them up and I can’t even tell if they have an elite program.

But I guess look at Locklear, she is from an unknown gym so I guess name is not everything lol

      • Tortuga Says:

I’m hoping you’re right. She was one of those I was hoping would sneak in with more difficulty in the next couple of seasons and be considered for Rio.

      • mim Says:

She’s so young, maybe she just really missed being away from her family. Maybe Marta made suggestions to get out. Pretty interesting news though, she’d overtaken Lexie and Amelia as the next big CGA girl.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

courtney mccool stopped coaching at cga. after she had been a gage gymnast. what does that say?MLT needs to look at Meals and how she trains her gymnasts, and talk to jetter, and all the rest that havent made an olympic team since oh…2000 and yes I think her exclusion is because Morgan White didnt compete hurt

      • gymtruthteller Says:

        When did Mcool quit CGA?

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Around the same time lexie did….or a little before

I just found out earlier today that Nastia is now on tumblr. missnyc2013.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Too bad I don;t have a tumblr anymore:)

      • Short1 Says:

You’re really not missing much…just a bunch of people freaking out and re-blogging as many Nastia related posts as possible in the hopes that she’ll notice them.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

        That sounds like fun:)

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I do miss my tumblr but I am not dealing with that crazy shit again.lol

      • Short1 Says:

I swear my entire dashboard was covered in those types of posts for a couple days straight. I mean, I could understand why those who are big fans of hers were excited but it got a little annoying after a while.
I don’t blame you for not having a Tumblr anymore. There are many days when I’m left shaking my head after reading through some of the posts and tags. It’s a good source of entertainment though, and there are some very knowledgeable and rational people on there.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I wasn’t even vocal on tumblr I mostly just read and the know it all assholes just got old very quickly. I don’t think any other sport has more immature idiots than gymnastics.

      • Short1 Says:

Yeah, the know it alls can certainly be a turn off. That’s one of the reasons I only follow a few blogs.

TCG is reporting that Ponor and Izbasa are rumored to be coming out of retirement. What??!!?? I guess if they want to come back, that’s fantastic, but it seems like Romania is begging them to come back to rescue their program. Similar to Nabs in Russia…

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I am so over them coming out for the Olympics and screwing some little kid out of their dream. Doing the math Larisa, Ponor and Izbasa doesn’t make much sense unless some uneven bar specialists are going to super grow out of some magic seed. Neither will do bars

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Didn’t Isbaza do bars? I agree with GTT to an extent – but I have to say, if Ponor and Isbaza are the best Romania has to offer (after a third comeback or whatever), then I guess I can’t disagree with sending them. It’d be one thing if it were all politics but if Romania is that short of good gymnasts I guess I can see why they’d be having them come back.
However, that’s only going to last for so long. They aren’t spring chickens and Romania needs to get their crap together if they want to keep up their legacy (which has already been eeking way in the past few years as we all know). They need to start developing new people and stop chasing all of their talent away (still angry about Ana Porgras)…

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I actually agree with you. If they come back and are better than they should go but I have a hard time with glory hogs that only show up when the money is at play.

        Izbasa did bars, badly.

      • Dee Says:

I get the ‘glory hog’ point, seems a little extreme to bring them out of retirement when they could focus on improving the younger girls that they already have…but Ponor is my ultimate girl crush so I selfishly hope that this is true…

      • gymtruthteller Says:

They need to be developing from the bottom for the future. Imagine where Romania is without Larisa ? They would be lucky to qualify a team let alone be in contention.

I don’t hate Ponor or Izbasa but bringing them out every 3 years is no way to run a program

    • G Says:

I love them both (especially Sandra) but I agree with GTT. They’ve got 2 olympics under their belts already, give someone new a chance.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

If they trained all year I would feel differently but they continue to just show up when the money comes and that just seems wrong

      • sanitynmotion Says:

It might be too late for them to come back at this point…especially if they get injured (which is more likely as they age). Also, they probably can’t practice as many hours I’m guessing.
I’m still dubious about this Gabby comeback. Any word from camp as to how she did?

What are her teammates calling her? Mac or Mah? Those kids sound like a flock of sheep bah-ing and bleeting at her. Lol.

I have nothing constructive to add but i think fun to watch these little training clips of the gymnasts, so thanks for sharing 🙂

  13. byrdisthewyrd Says:

Interesting. In this article, Shawn Johnson mentions launching her own series of gymnastics competitions. I’m assuming it will be similar to Nastia’s JO competitions? I wish I could see Nastia’s face as she reads about this.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I am going to do that too. Only make it a death match type thing where gymnasts compete hunger game style to see who is alive at the end. My guess is cock roach like nastia will win.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

theres spoilers out on celebrity apprentice. shawn is just talking out of her ass. USAG will never sponsor a shawn johnson cup. I wonder if there would be extra points for saying bittersweet and looking constantly like youve had a lobotomy. shes just waiting until her boyfriend marries her. Rumor has it her back injury is so intense and got worse on DWTS

  14. byrdisthewyrd Says:

And I forgot to post the article. http://fulltwist.net/10-minutes-with-shawn-johnson-usa/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+FullTwist+%28Full+Twist%29&utm_content=FaceBook

    • Dee Says:

hmmm…interesting article, glad she is keeping busy.
The last part interested me the most, where she says gymnastics meets are stale and boring for the younger girls. That personally was my favorite part of being a gymnast, how regimented and serious the environment was. Maybe it sounds weird, but I liked that. I guess I was surprised at her answer to that question! I wonder if her ‘series of meets’ won’t be more laid back or something.

      • mim Says:

My guess would be many little girls competing gymnastics JO comps etc would enjoy competing in a serious environment. While innovation and creativity is fine, at that age basics and the safety of the younger ones, should be paramount. I don’t think parents would be supportive of it either, seems a lot of parents worry about the safety of their children gymnasts as it is!
