Videos will here here Right now they have the US Men.

Starts tomorrow at 6 am. I will be working so if anyone wants to send info on how people looked I would appreciate it. If you could pay attention to the order they go up that would be great so we can see what the line ups might be like.

Chinese team training

Speaking of people not at Worlds Ebee’s first week at Stanford.

Ebee likes math. She is the anti girl the media leads us to believe exists. Oh and I lead you to believe the same thing because I hate math with a passion.

When I was growing up we had to write everything out. Show your work said my idiotic math teaaching coach of the football team. By the time my nephew was growing up he needed a calculator to bring to every class. Now my newest baby nieces and nephews are doing something called common core which makes no damn sense. How do you get to ten using an 8 and a 5? you take 2 from the 5 and that makes it ten. UM HELLO. Why the HELL do you take 2 from the 5? why the hell can’t you take 3? I am starting to think maybe China is the one that created this new way of doing math so we stay far down in the rankings.

Woohoo!!! Welcome to Seamoney $$ world

  2. sanitynmotion Says:

Wait, what? Take 2 from the 5 plus 8..?? I really don’t even understand that. I’ve heard a lot of bad things about common core. Hopefully it’s banned by the time my little one is in school…

  3. Case Says:

I flove math. Minored in it in college. Me and Ebee know what’s up.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

      ZzZzZzZzzzzzzzzz πŸ™‚ Math is EVIL

      • Gymbee Says:

YES it is. I flunked maths in final year of high school, but had enough credits to not fail the whole year! Thank god for extra credit German haha.
I remember those evil 2/5x^2y x ???? I hadn’t a clue what I was even looking at, or what the heck I was trying to achieve! Shudder at the thought.

      • Tortuga Says:

I barely passed college algebra and business math which are suppose to be easy. I like attempting math but then get easily frustrated when I keep getting it wrong. It’s really rewarding when you can figure it out though which is why I liked it.

      • Karlie Says:

bahaha I love math too! When I was taking the MCAT I wished there was a math section. haha.

Ebee is a class act. I’m sad she’s not at Worlds (because we all know she would have been barring injury) but she sounds like she’s doing really well at Stanford. πŸ™‚

  4. Case Says:

So in your example you take 2 from the 5 because 8 is the bigger number and therefore closer to 10. So you leave 8 alone and take what you need from the smaller number.

(That’s just conjecture on my part but it makes sense to me.)

  5. JAS4 Says:

They told us all the time in school how we would need Algebra all the in time and I have never needed any of it beyond basic pre algebra lol

    • gymtruthteller Says:

      I know I took Algebra but I don’t remember a single thing I learned.

    • Short1 Says:

Same. My math teachers always told me that too, but I honestly can’t remember any instances when I’ve used any of it beyond the basics. For me the most relevant math class I took in high school ended up being AP Stats. Which was great because it’s seriously one of the only types of math that has ever made sense to me (and it came in handy with the three additional Stats classes I took in college).

  6. onelifeonejourneyonealex Says:

I HATE the new Common Core curriculum. Adding things together is not that hard. I work with my 8 year old nephew J on homework ad schoolwork, and when I saw someone drawing it out on a whiteboard and explaining it on the damn morning NEWS. Of course J brought home a CC workbook for homework. I tried telling him how CC works but I think I was more confused than he was, so after two pages (and over an hour), I showed him how I do it. I did one problem “my way” while he watched me, and he finished the next three lessons, 90% without asking for help or getting confused and frustrated.\

Stuff like this pisses me off. When I was a kid, we just memorized this crap – addition, subtraction, square roots, all that stuff. I really wish that the US educational system would realize that kids are tiny humans too, and as different as adults are from one another, is as different as how kids differ. Some flourish with structure or particular methods, while other kids work better moving, using manipulatives, using examples (story problems), but all said and done, kids are different, kids learn differently. Unfortunately, the way school curriculum is set up here, it’s completely “this way or you fail”. So kids like J (and me, at his age), who just learn differently, get frustrated, bored, embarrassed, and many either tune out or they get disruptive.

Bet y’all can’t tell my stance on the state of American education.

    • Dee Says:

But of we don’t teach them that way, then we can’t standardize test them to death!! Seriously, I’m going to have to hire tutors for my kid when it goes to school…I can’t do math past basic addition and this crap sounds like my nightmare. Yet another parenting thing to worry about…not sure why I bother being worried about the birth part LOL

      • Gymbee Says:

How far along are you Dee? πŸ™‚

      • Dee Says:

Just about 6 months! Really getting the itch to go on a trampoline lately haha…but I don’t have too much longer!

      • Gymbee Says:

        That’s great! Congratulations πŸ™‚
Is it your first baby? 3 months will fly!!

      • Case Says:

        Congrats Dee!

      • onelifeonejourneyonealex Says:

        Congratulations, Dee!
(this is ages down the road, but check out Montessori schools- much more kid/learning friendly)

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I feel the same way about the one I just gave birth to re: school, and I loved math (call me weird).
Dee don’t worry about the birthing part, just SLEEP NOW while you can. Seriously. The last month is excruciating playing the waiting game. Mine was a chunk, didn’t drop and was a week late and I ended up having to have a c-section. I hate surgeries/hospitals more than anything so if I can do it (the birth part) you got it in the bag πŸ™‚
Sorry if the above was TMI.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Way too much information.lol This isn’t a baby blog:)

I am never having kids. Could never handle the pain

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Speaking of which, the baby blogs can be somewhat entertaining lol…it’s like a bunch of Mary Margarets all in one. Like serious idiots. Then I try to say something rational and get chewed out by everyone for not being “supportive.” See what I do for entertainment now lol.

      • onelifeonejourneyonealex Says:

K, definitely not having kids now….I was leaning that way when I survived taking two boys, 2 and 8, to Target. On a weekday. At 5:30 PM. Now, I am pretty damn sure….I can take pain, but I need alone time to stay functional and I’ve heard that goes away 150% when you have sprogs.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Yeah I’m sure free time disappears with a baby. I’m expecting too so my hubby and I been trying to spent as much time alone as possible before 99% of it goes away. I’m sure there will be some positives though πŸ™‚

      • Dee Says:

Sanity – I can’t stand baby blogs but they are too entertaining. Try reading the comments out loud in a weird voice and pronounce all spelling errors. Too fun. (What is my life?!)

    • gymnerd Says:

Teachers think it’s bullshit as well. Trust me on this.

  7. Gymbee Says:

Kyla and Simone are looking good, but is Kyla injured? Her left thigh is patched up with k-tape.

    • H Says:

Idk, but I thinks she looks physical good, but she seems so “heavy”/lack of energy. Like things are a struggle …

      • gymtruthteller Says:

To me she has looked that way all year.

      • H Says:

        ditto that

      • onelifeonejourneyonealex Says:

She really has looked just tired…. I wonder if her body just needs a break from competing? She goes to public school, I think close to full-time, she’s travelling constantly, and she had a major growth spurt and her shape changed a lot…. I wish she/her coaches would consider cutting down training for a bit so she doesn’t burn out before Rio and/or wreck her chances for NCAA. And the fact that she’s had a back injury and now something on her hip/thigh this year doesn’t bode well.

She could cut back a few hours a week, rest her body (puberty alone is *exhausting*, much less doing 30+ hours of elite training a week and competing so much, esp. AA) and it would probably improve her gym… But Martha seems to like breaking them. Ugh.

    • Dee Says:

Not sure but that is a big area that is taped. Her split leaps on floor and beam did not look as good and her landings were not as precise so I think it’s a safe guess that something is at least really sore? Is that where you would tape for a sore hamstring?

Holy balls…Simone’s podium training vaults….I kept hitting repeat with my mouth open. I feel like she is gonna clean up at this competition, my prediction is she takes AA, vault and floor titles.

      • Gymbee Says:

I know, absolutely insane, she is so darn bouncy! I can’t believe it. She’ll sweep this competition.

Also, finally red, white and blue leos! Hope they have similar colours at the competition.

      • Tortuga Says:

Simone’s vault and floor were amazing! I’m thinking at least 3 individual golds for her, aa, floor, vault. I was surprised by Mykayla’s vaults, felt like she cleaned up quiet a bit and I couldn’t really tell from the camera angle if her Chang was one handed or not. Still don’t think she can touch Simone, but probably podium on vault. I still think her floor execution might keep her out of finals completely. Kyla was stunning on beam, I hope she hits like that in podium and finals. Vault she needs a better block, not her normal self. Clean up bars and landings on floor. I think she can pull it together. The tape is probably just for sore muscles, that may be why she is a little sluggish today as well.

      • mim Says:

Reports of a hip injury for Kyla.

      • exgymgurl Says:

kyla removed a switch ring right? from floor and beam?

      • exgymgurl Says:

I think between height and injury this is Kylas last hurrah. I hope they leave her home from Jesolo.

      • exgymgurl Says:

I only hope kyla stays home to rest and be ready moving into the olympic year. I dont think Jesolo is necessary for her to get more experience. I dont think Marta should send all of the 2012 crew to Jesolo, maybe Aly and Gabby. I dont think Simone should go either. Next year Bailie Key will come out at SCAM, and Marta will put Nia up against her. Or Norah, or whomever is number two that will lose to the anointed Zmeskal Burdette. It wont be laurie or Jazzy…. Oh and simones vaults look as good as McKayla Maroney did in 2012 except more consistent. I think also gold on AA Floor and Vault are hers.

  8. G Says:

😦 another camp injury. Hopefully she can hold it together.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Marta killed Kyla on purpose. That biatch and why does this damn phone try to change every word to something different? The boy needs a new phone without auto correct.

    • Case Says:

Marta has another notch in her bed post. Simone better stay healthy.

  9. Melanie Says:

I don’t get what’s so great about Baumann or Kocian. Both have pretty bad form. Especially Baumann – her knees and feet are awful. Same with Locklear, at least on beam. Some of these girls are making me want to binge-watch videos of the Chinese girls on beam to comfort myself.

    • G Says:

Agreed, I only hope they get a reality check from the international judges.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I agree especially Kocian. These judges should be doing their jobs but they never do. NO WAY Locklear touches beam at these worlds. If she does the score won’t be out of the 12’s she is that bad.

  10. ocmom Says:

I never comment…. but Locklear’s knees are so bad I cannot even watch her….how do you make it all the way to elite (and make National Team no less) without having fixed that?????

  11. sainabou nyang Says:

I must say Maddie Desch impressed me a little today. Her legs were much straighter on her LOSO. She seemed more confident. Her floor with that whip combo still needs work. Shes gonna fall forward on her face one of these days.

Skinner was on point. So was Kocian and Alyssa.

Simone is like Aly, ready to get the competition started.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Its PODIUM TRAINING. I feel more secure watching Kyla and Simone mess up than the head cases hitting.lol but thats just me:P

  12. sanitynmotion Says:

Marta is trying to break everyone it seems. If Kyla doesn’t shape up she won’t be in the mix for Rio and now another injury. Her one leg looks really bothered. She’ll be lucky to survive this meet. Hopefully after her coaches rest her big time. I think her body needs it.

That said I’m almost thinking Simone’s vaults are better on average than McKayla. Her short body though doesn’t demonstrate as much height as McKayla’s. Still I’m thinking if McKayla doesn’t come to the table with a solid floor and beam next year her Rio chances may be slim to none unless she gets a TTY under her belt.

    • Gymbee Says:

I still prefer McKayla’s Amanar, Simone’s is way better than last year but she still crosses her feet in the air.

      • Tortuga Says:

Agree with Gymbee. McKayla’s form and height across better, but Simone is right on her heels. I think McKayla is out of the game with out solid floor beam and possible TTY.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

I agree about Simones vaults. Plus she has the advantage of being a better all around gymnast than a maroney. With only five slots available, and a lot of girls with a legitimate shot her chances go down. Plus with the Amanar devalued to 6.3 a Maroney does not get the US the advantage enough to justify taking her just for vault. We still need bars but we need strong AA gymnasts with strong bars. barring health the girls with a legit shot at rio are Simone Kyla bailie key, Ohashi, Flatley, gowey, nia, gabby, Aly, Maroney, skinner, locklear, Peyton, and some dark horse that will come out of nowhere. Marta would ideally like about 20 girls at this point to name one team of five and 2-3 alternates. I dont even think we have 20, but the camp invites will be interesting.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I would maybe add Regan Smith (Texas Dreams) and Emily from CGA to a list of potentials. Although Marta seems to have something against CGA so maybe not.

I think there someone at Parkette’s who has potential– Desiderio? Can’t remember her name. She kind of headcased on bars at Nationals but there is potential on other events.

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Oh yeah, even though I don’t like her and she seems to be constantly broken too–but I guess Laurie too.

    • biyatch Says:

Unless everyone else breaks (which is very much a possibility) Kyla I think has no shot at Rio. I think really this is her last year to be in contention as an AAer. Besides Simone, IMO Bailie, Aly and Gabby are all stronger AAers than Kyla (assuming Raisman and Douglas have full difficulty back). As a bars specialist, there are girls who are surpassing her in that category with her ever declining difficulty.

Simone being an AA beast PLUS having 2 vaults is really detrimental to McKayla and any chance she has at making a second 5 person Olympic team.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Yeah, Kyla has no shot if she doesn’t up her D scores. I mean they are still lower than London and even in London they weren’t really high enough for making event finals in anything. Like we all have pretty much said, she needs to really focus on upping her bars/beam and that will make her more valuable for the team. If she keeps doing only what she’s doing now it won’t be enough, and the juniors/Aly will easily pass her up.

I really have a hard time believing Gabby will make a full comeback. I don’t see it. I only see it from Aly and maybe Maroney.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I don’t know if Kyla can keep a 6.4 bar score, 6.1 beam, the DTY and a 6 floor and stay consistent she might out last the tricksters.
Of course I am asking a lot from Kyla

      • Kaley (@kittykatgym) Says:

I think the injuries are taking it’s toll on Kyla. She hasn’t looked as sharp on bars and beam this year. Last year, she was going through with ease on her 6.4 bar set, even beating Mustafina, and had a lot of potential to upgrade. Due to her injuries, she no longer does inbar stalders and is struggling through her routines a bit. Just looking at podium training, it looks like she is really struggling to do her skills. Her leaps and landings didn’t look great, but hopefully she improves by the actual competition. After Worlds, I hope Kyla gets to rest, heal, get back into her 2013 shape, and upgrade.

      • biyatch Says:

With those D scores you mention, sure GTT. But her highest D score has been a 6.0 on beam. 5.8 D on bars aint gonna hack it. The highest she’s ever had on floor was like 5.9. She’s at about 5.5 now. She better hope like hell she’s perfect because even with Skinner’s atrocious form and chucking I think Kyla’s margin of error to get into the AA is pretty damn small.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I think she might be able to get in the AA because Skinners bars and beam are that bad but you know what if Kyla doesn’t get the AA and it motivates her to upgrade I am all for it.

  13. Kaley (@kittykatgym) Says:

Common core math is terrible. My school has now gotten rid of Pre-Algebra and Algebra and replaced it with Common Core and Accelerated Common Core for the higher level math. Luckily, they haven’t gotten rid of Geometry (which I also hate, haha) yet. I’m in the last Geometry class that my school will have before they switch Geometry to (Insert Grade) Accelerated Common Core. I hate both, but Geometry is the lesser of 2 evils. πŸ˜› The common core tests are really quite stupid and frustrating. We are forced to do our math tests on iPads, which has server issues and explain in words our solutions, which just makes everything more confusing. Using postulates, theorems, inequalities, and equations is much more straightforward.

  14. Kaley (@kittykatgym) Says:

Russia is looking great in podium training, besides Aliya (but we all know she does terrible there and does amazing in competition). I’m really excited that they are looking better than expected, and can challenge for at least the silver medal! Kramarenko looks great, especially since she’s been competing for so long! I’m excited to see team China as well! The Americans look solid and will probably win gold, but I don’t see the hype about how they will dominate. Simone of course will, but the rest of the team besides Kyla? Kyla is great of course and I’m sure she will do well in competition, but she was looking a bit sluggish. Besides them, there is Skinner, Baumann, Kocian, Desch, and Locklear. I doubt Desch will even be used. Skinner can pull off a vault medal and maybe a floor medal, but honestly her floor makes me cringe this year. Kocian has lovely handstands, swing, and skills, but her form is dreadful. She was only scoring around 14.75 at Pan Ams compared to her 15.5 scores at Nationals, so I thinking that she’ll be killed by the Worlds’ judges. Locklear is great on bars, but she really can’t giveaway any of the connections and will probably only score low 15s. Baumann has a great beam set, but it’s nothing spectacular. I’m definitely awaiting 2015 with all the new seniors and comebacks.

  15. Ilanchik20 Says:

Everytime Aly posts a pic, I want scream at Marta–why isn’t Aly at World? Why? Poor decision Marta! Ugh Given who is there, she could have been more than ready.

Aly looks really in great shape!!

  16. Case Says:

GTT just want to apologize for our guy bucket gas can bullpen. The Orioles our seriously exploiting our glaring weakness and our rookie manager is making stupid ass decisions. I am so pissed right now.

    • Case Says:

That was supposed to be “gut” bucket and “are” seriously exploiting. Screw you too iphone.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I hate the Orioles and half their team is juicing. Funny how old their old guys now can hit.

Hopefully you play better at home I can’t trust the Angels to do anything they can’t even beat KC.

      • Case Says:

If we lose I’m hopping on the Royals bandwagon. I’m so sick of hearing about Trout and Nelson Cruz is one of my most hated players in the MLB. Damn it, Detroit!

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Not a big Angels fan but KC has Shields and he tried to kill Coco back in his days as a DEVIL Ray.

I am going for the National league except Dodgers. If its Orioles and Dodgers I am going Dodgers but only by default.

      • Case Says:

So let’s say two guys in your bullpen gave up 8 F’ing runs in one inning yesterday….would it make sense to use those two guys in a similar situation a day later? Especially when they’ve sucked lately?? No, it doesn’t unless you’re a dumbass like Brad Ausmus.

What I wouldn’t give for just one title.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

You are preaching to the choir here. Farrell continued all season to do the same stuipd things again and again and we sucked because of it. I hear ya.

Do you hate the Orioles yet? Has Adam Jones acted like a cocky ass after a hit ? Has Tillman fist pumped a first out in a first inning yet? Tillman did that against us in a game that was either May or April. I hate that guy.

      • Case Says:

The only redeeming thing about getting our butts kicked yesterday was Adam Jones going 0-5. If they had Chris Davis right now we’d probably lose by 20 instead of 10.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I hate Adam Jones. Davis the cheater, yep don’t miss him either. I hate every Oriole though πŸ™‚

  17. Ilanchik20 Says:

Well good for Brenna! We know where she is at now. I can’t wait to see her at NCAA.

  18. Dee Says:

The line up is out. A lot more girls are doing AA than I thought. Ross better have one hell of a day cause I ain’t watching skinner in the aa final…

The live streams are on at crazy times. Is anyone actually watching them?

    • Short1 Says:

I don’t’ think I’ll watch many of them live (except those on at a semi-decent hour). I’ll probably just watch the archived live stream from Universal Sports or their T.V. coverage.

  19. Exgymgurl Says:

Wow orozco didnt make any event finals. Im shocked said no one ever…..

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Mr hollow vise made pommel and Daltons vault but no other us men from what I can see. Daltons is alt on floor. What happened to sam? Looks like he tanked prelims.

    • Karlie Says:

AA/Event Finals list for US Men is as follows:

AA – Donnell Whittenburg (qualified 4th), Sam Mikulak (13th)
      Floor – Jake Dalton
Pommel – Alexander Naddour (aka Mr. Hollie Vise, haha)
      Vault – Jake Dalton
Parallel Bars – Danell Leyva (top qualifier) and Donnell Whittenburg

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

Thanks for posting this. I’m too lazy to watch through men’s qf. At least Sam qualified to AA (I missed it when I first looked for scores). Wonder what happened elsewhere for Sam.

      • TrishaG Says:

Sam did fine on floor, PH, and rings, but isn’t strong enough on those events to contend for finals.
He didn’t do two vaults, so obviously couldn’t try for the vault finals. Sam had a major break in his PB routine at the start, so that affected his score there. Then on HB, he had a few breaks and one swing where he didn’t have the momentum to finish the giant and had to swing back the other way instead. He got slammed there, only got 13.633.

His HB routine has been a problem for him for awhile now. He seems to run out of energy in the middle when he’s done with the major releases and doing stalders and pirouettes. HB has been one of his best events; he and his coach need to tweak his routine to one he can do consistently so it becomes a strength again instead of a liability.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

The guys have over emphasized pommels. But they were the best on pommels, so there you have it. They trained less high bar / pbars, and it showed….

  20. Kaley (@kittykatgym) Says:

Nastia and He Kexin… She finally knows her name, instead of “the Chinese girl”

  21. Melanie Says:

Chuso is out – probably injury, but I haven’t heard exactly what. Word is that Lauren Mitchell may also be out for injury, which would be a huge loss for Team Australia.

Here’s the list of new elements that have been submitted. I’m really curious to see if Hong Un Jong will actually compete the TTY. The endless number of ring leap variations on floor is going to get nauseating.
