2014 US Nationals. Seniors Day 2 : LIVE Blogging

Simone wins with a fall but lets be real here she would have deserved it ten fold with 3 falls especially thanks to Kyla not having last years difficulty and falling twice.

Maggie placed third where she belonged period but the overscoring machine of the Woga gymnasts is a complete joke. I need a new thesaurus because I keep using the same word because the same things keep happening.

1. Biles 122.550, 2. Ross 118.300, 3. Nichols 117.900; 4. Baumann 116.100; 5. Skinner 115.450.

If this team is full of Woga gymnasts I hope they finish 8th.lol

Simone was athlete of the year. Her coach, coach of the eyar and Lexie Preissman Sportsperson of the year.

Simone won vault and floor. Kyla won beam and Locklear won bars.

National team

Biles, Ross, Nichols, Baumann, Skinner, Hundley, Dowell, Locklear, Kocian, Desch

The junior competition was won by an asterisk. ( Bailie Key was missing so does it really matter?)

Rotation 4

Down goes Woga. The overscoring she has been getting makes me not care.

Right Captain obvious Nastia. She did not want to fall. Duh, duh, duh

Simone is too cute. How did she do that. I would fall off.

WHERE IS NICA????????????????????

Messy bar routine from Kocian but we never mention it because she is from Woga. 15.500 is Marta overscoring. Ashton has much better form if not great.

Bozo admitted he was thinking about the money he could get if he did well and that is why he choked so STOP acting like had a chance to beat anyone?

Walk into the view of that Camera Hog Zmeskal.

Way to throw that away Dowell.( 13.650) Nail the toughest part and fall apart for the rest.

The feed is ahead of the TV.

Skinner got a 14.2 on beam. Is that possible.

Simone on beam- Off beam. Two small bobbles but hell, she is human. Bobble on her 2 layouts. Almost nailed
dismount. Bobble on 2.5 turn. Probably should not deserve credit for it.

Ashton hit her bars. They are giving this to Kocian. What BS.

The Woga brigade bad mouth the Ashton routine due to bias.

Meals hit bars. No more leg stuff then anyone else NASTIA

2 small bobbles but nailed all her connections. (beam) Kyla (15.350)

Maggie has one issue on bars but before the mistake she looked great. After the form came apart a little.

Maggie- DTY- Missed it.

Kyla- Bars: ( 15.00)Small leg sep on pak but her Van Lewen was much better than usual. Nice routine.

Baumann- Piked messy DTY. Nastia needs glasses. 14.900 my ass. There was a huge leg separation to start. One to end with crossed legs and she was short and landed forward.

Typical bar routine from SKinner. Messy form. Can we please fire Nastia already.lol she is useless.

LMAO- Nastia just said she’s coached by Chow who coached Shawn Johnson to Olympic gold, ON BEAM. LMAO. This brought tears to my eyes.lol

No floor routine for Meals because we have to watch Simone stand around.

Kyla DTY- (15.250) Hit. Maybe a little short and a little form mess at start but it got better.

8 girls doing AA and we can’t see half of them.

Baumann’s triple form is as bad as Nastia’s and she walks through that routine she doesn’t dance.

Skinner- Piked Cheng. Nastia says she was too close to the vault and she would know. Her shit vault was
way closer)

The only good news I can come up with is Simone and Kyla will be the only girls around in 2 years from this group.

Kocian- OOB twice. Both feet first pass. I kind of like her floor sometimes but if you can’t hit you stay home.

Shut up Nastia I saw her stick better Amanars. Try paying attention.

Simone is the Queen. No doubt about it. Amazing Amanar. Maybe a bit piked at end.

Yes because Babe Ruth talk makes me want to watch this dribble.lol

Oh wait Babe Ruth was with the Sox when he hit.lol

Its 8.02 and video is not working. Its on now. So far only background news but hell that means no Nastia so I am all for it.

Nastia is dressed like her Grandmother. Why doesn’t someone make her hire a stylist?

Now a picture of the most overrated gymnasts of all time and we get Nastia’s voice too. (GAG ME)

Terin and Marta have the same glasses.lol

Simone on floor (15.500)(6.4)- Better than night one. Big jump on last pass but the rest was Simone being Simone.

Oh Tim smiles has nothing to do with gymnastics you fool.

Nastia just called Simone artistic.lol

Meals on beam: (14.01)Why beam? Her worst event. I missed beginning but she hit. She was short on some leaps and jumps so won’t be a great score.

Macy Toronjo on floor- She should own College gym in a few years. Pretty clean.

Nastia now claims Kim was her idol growing up.lol

Maggie Nichols( 14.750) – beam: Great routine for Maggie. She was short on one leap but the rest was great, for her.

Kyla Ross- (14.800) Floor: Took out the whip to Arabian. Step back on the double like. Nailed the double tuck. Good routine for Kyla.

Nastia pretty much just said she was glad Kyla fell.

Baumann- (15.150) beam. Tim just said her form puts her apart from everyone else as she crosses her feet and legs come apart.

Skinner- Floor: (15.100) Hit her floor. Bad leaps and jumps.

Simone interview.Gabby Aly interview coming up because seeing gymnastics would be so against the damn rules. (showing gym at a gym meet is like showing baseball on ESPN baseball. All we do is see interviews with Justin Verlander.

  1. sainabou nyang Says:

I noticed that when the camera zoomed in on Carly and MLR, Gabby seemed out of it like kind of zoned out.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Gabby is too good to spend time with such overrated bugs:)

      • sainabou nyang Says:

Lol Is that why she didnt dress up and instead wore gym clothes?

      • Exgymgurl Says:

I noticed that. They have nice clothes on and shes in Nike. Also Terin Humphrey had all these dark brown large more than quarter sized brown skin discoloration on her forehead and her left cheek. Even Aly had nice clothes on.

      • Gymbee Says:

        Maybe it was gunshot residue.

      • Gymbee Says:

Re the gym clothes: probably she wants it to seem that she came straight from the gym, to give off the “I am so hard at training” vibe.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

It gives off a ” I dont care Nike said I get 5000 every time a swoosh shows up on broadcast national tv , so my mom is counting her fendi shoes….” Kind of vibe

  2. exgymgurl Says:

Gabby doesn’t know what Mary lou rent on and carry Patterson are.

  3. exgymgurl Says:

Khorkina should have been her idol.growing up. But no khorkina was less of a corrupt bitch

  4. exgymgurl Says:

There are only 8 people competing AA. We should.see every routine

  5. exgymgurl Says:

14.8 is a good routine for kyla on floor. I think she’s getting pushed into second place.

  6. cupquake Says:

5.1 point difference between Simone and Kyla?!?! This is basically ridiculous. Everyone’s just competing for 2nd (3rd) place. Give Simone her gold already. The rest can all just go home.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

We knew this before the competition started. Kyla fell twice so its more like 3 but until Kyla brings back last years routines she has no shot to even be close to Simone.

  7. H Says:

NBC are showing 1-2 routines and then break ..wtf

  8. exgymgurl Says:

Jeepers I love it when ka gets pissed. Shes like a woman on a mission pissed. And she beats Maggie Nd Alyssa for second.

  9. exgymgurl Says:

I will bet $100 right now Aly and gabby are both invited to.worlds selection camp and mart has Aly compete Panams with a dty, no bars, watered down floor and beam. Just to knock the rust off. I’d bet gabby is invited but gets no assignment. We need a poor squeeze comeback to pull everyone except Simone and kyla out of the shit festival they are in. These other girls are making kyla and Simone lazy. We need some Aly raise an work ethic to kick everyone’s ass.

  10. exgymgurl Says:

Marta and Al fong have turned Brenna into a mental vegetable. Shes less reliable than Anna Li. She needs to leave and join oklahoma in January. Her elite career is over.

  11. exgymgurl Says:

Kyla and Simone are the only two aa right now besides iordache that have a prayer of being consistently over 60. Mustafina will be lucky to compete two events this year esp if they are saving her for.rio.

  12. sainabou nyang Says:

Well this competition was decent but I’m praying Aly is in shape by oct camp. I like Simone but I cant wait for some juniors to turn seniors because Simone needs some competition from within.

Brenna… I think she has one more shot and thats at panams if shes picked. If she messes up there she should just head to Oklahoma in Jan.

Good job Maggie. Her gymnastics is not my favorite but shes consistent and will be a great leadoff in TF.

  13. Dee Says:

We just left the arena, pregnancy hormones have me cranky and the screaming over the damn t shirt gun gave me a killer headache.

Seeing Simone compete live in AMAZING. If you get the chance, do it.

I didn’t really notice anything out of the ordinary but when the girls went up to be presented as the national team, the three that did not make it stayed behind and Aly rushed down to hug them. It was a cute gesture, but my friend wondered why no other usag alumni came down to hug them or offer encouragement? (I mean, not that we saw, anyway.)

I also don’t get the pan am assignment…literally the entire national team is going to pan ams but kyla and Simone. Is pan am before worlds?

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Pan ams must be soon because they leave tonight. Hope you feel better.

Aly is running for freaking President and everyone should have made the National team. Marta’s a tool.

      • Tortuga Says:

Exactly it’s kinda crazy to leave off 3 people when they can name how many more throughout the year? What’s the deal with Marta hating Nica she has great execution, she can be worked with.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I need to find Nica’s bar because those deductions seem like a lot.

      • Tortuga Says:

      • Dee Says:

Wow leaving tonight after all those days at P&G could be rough. I guess that means Marta is gonna use that to decide the other few world team members.

I didn’t understand why Marta left Nica off. Her beam was beautiful and although I missed her bars I thought her score was low when I saw it. I like this AShton girl but if she’s doing bars and beam, then I think they could have put Nica on the team, too.

      • Dee Says:

Just watched Nicas bars and now I really don’t get it. Oh well, Marta sometimes you are too much.

Not sure if any Texas Dreams girls were named to national team. Not sure what was up with that.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I saw a really far away version of her bars and beam so it was too far to see details.

  14. sanitynmotion Says:

My stupid self forgot to DVR the comp. Sigh I hope it’s on you tube. So what did nastia say exactly about being happy Kyla fell?

    • Case Says:

It probably went something like this, “I fell flat on my ugly face at Nationals in 2012. The more gymnasts that fall now the better because maybe people will forget my piss poor performance. Great job Kyla!”

      • Dee Says:

WTF!!! That’s ridiculous. I missed hearing commentary because that always adds the drama LOL

      • gymtruthteller Says:

LOL Not really but she backed into a compliment and had no where to go.

        Media training is needed.

    • Katie Says:

I think she realized halfway through saying it just how bad it sounded. She was saying that Kyla is almost unhuman because she never falls so it was nice to see her show her human side. I think she was trying to compliment her and it just came out all wrong. Nastia needs some major training if she wants to continue as an NBC commentator. She still sounds like it’s one of her first times. Especially with stuff like that. The banter that is supposed to sound natural and light just sounds so forced and awkward most of the time. Plus that one on one with Simone was awkward, as well. Simone sounded much more at ease than Nastia.

  15. Exgymgurl Says:

Mart is leaving room on the jr and sr national teams for Aly gabby rachel McKayla victoria, ragan smith, Lexie, Laurie Hernandez, etc shes only naming who she is required to and who she needs for panams, besides Brenna who Im shocked got named and isnt going to panams. Marta must really love bailie. Peyton didnt get named. She will fill it based on who is healthy and ready for jesolo. Most people didnt perform well here.

    • mim Says:

Honestly I doubt we’ll see Gowey this year. Next year you have the juniors coming up and she’s not going to factor in again. Too fragile, missed her shot I think.

  16. Exgymgurl Says:

Rhonda Faehn had a good eye to lock ashton locklear down……

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Her beam is really really bad. Has anyone seen her floor or vault?

      • gymmom2 Says:

I don’t think she has much – bad knees and no legs. She was a Nastia Cup Qualifier in 2013 , 7 AA with a 37. 875 ( won bars – no surprise there) 9.5 on vault and 9.55 on floor.

only video I found was from 2012 elite qualifier

Last AA score on meet scores is from the state meet 2013
6 AA with a 9.175 on floor and a 9.475 on vault. Does not appear that she competed floor or vault during in 2014. While she has a few years to improve, she will likely not be an AA at Florida.

      • Short1 Says:

I think Tim Daggett mentioned at some point that she’s currently only training bars and beam because she’d had a back injury?

  17. gymbot Says:

Baumann is out of Pan Ams. Hano is named to Pan Ams team. Does this mean she is a national team member?

  18. lunacaelum Says:

I thought Nica was underscored on bars and beam both days. I also think all of the girls should have just been named to the national team. It’s not like Marta really has enough seniors to be all that choosy.

Maybe Marta asked KZB to do something and Kim said no so Marta left the girls off the team for now?

I really wish KZB would get her girls to do some better tumbling and better vaulting.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

All of KZBs eggs are in Bailey’s basket… Probably why she’s resting her.
Maybe Marta is punishing Nicas coach for taking on gabby. Wouldn’t put it past her to do something like that and two other coaches were passing her up for a reason… Right? To avoid blackball treatment?

      • Ilanchik20 Says:

I’m confused, Nica trains with Kzb and Gabby is at Buckaye (spelling?) which btw has Nia Dennis who will be a senior next year –should be interesting. Or did Gabby first try to go to Texas Dreams and Kim didn’t take her? Lol

Normally Kim’s athletes get all sorts of gifts so the whole situation is kind of weird. Kim’s only athlete to make a national team– Bailey- was the one who didn’t compete lol

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Nica has never been one of those gymnasts that received the gifts. Marta does not like the girl and I can’t tell why. She comes across as a pretty nice kid but Marta has never been into her.

Maybe Marta wants Kim to take over for her and is low balling all but the golden child because she has no choice. As much as Baileys gymnastics bored me the kid is clean on all but bars annd a rock.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Nica trains with Kim. If anything Kim is forgetting her gymnasts in favor of the gifts for Bailey who doesn’t need those gifts..

      • Kaley (@kittykatgym) Says:

Gabby trains with Nia Dennis. She wasn’t turned down by Texas Dreams. She was actually turned down by Gym-Max. I love Nia, and hope that Gabby doesn’t try to steal Nia away from her coaches. Nia’s such a headcase though. Her day 2 floor was simply gorgeous. THOSE SPINS!!! Plus, she nearly stuck every pass.

      • mim Says:

I’m pretty sure she Gabby was turned down by another gym too… Hills I think it was?

      • sanitynmotion Says:

SORRY totally got Nica confused with Nia. Damn names are too similar lol. I was just speculating on that one (Marta punishing the coach that took Gabby).

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I find it weird that all of Kims girls can dance when she was horrible at it yet she could tumble.

If Kim would stop trying to make the world forget she was a gymnast by giving her kids the same stupid floor music she used the world would be a better place.

We never would have known Bailey could dance if Kim kept her shit floor music from 92 and used it for Bailey. She finally changed it last year and Bailey looked great on floor. I was shocked she could dance.

      • Kaley (@kittykatgym) Says:

Kim’s girls are great dancers, but Kim keeps giving them cutesy Karoyli choreography and her own music. Bailie’s dance was great this year on floor. Bailie’s a much better gymnast than Kim. She is clean and has the difficulty. Her leaps are really great as well! The thing with Bailie is that she is being paced well, so most of her upgrades are not in her routines yet. She’s training an amanar, and I can see so many more floor upgrades for her. She can dance, but needs to be a bit more expressive.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Texas dreams has a good ballet teacher on staff or they did…

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Well we know Kim isn’t teaching them to dance.lol

  19. Lithi Says:

I was nosing through Nastia’s IG when I saw a pic of her and Valeri and someone commented how s/he thought they looked like they were married. Which one of you was this? :p

  20. biyatch Says:

Hey y’all. Was in a wedding this weekend so I just caught up on all the gymnastics of the weekend. A few thoughts:

-Saw this on twitter but its a vital question: how has more botox in their massive forehead? Nastia or Valeri. Man those things are huge and don’t really move, like at all.

-Watched a little YOG gym coverage… Alicia was so pleasant as a commentator. Quick someone start a change.org petition for Alicia to replace Nastia for all gymnastics commentary. Her voice is so much less grating.

-Simone is heads and tails above everybody in the world. Like so much so that it’s a little boring. This code is kind of super annoying though. Everyone, everywhere is breaking. Like when the deepest team in the world is having trouble fielding teams something probably needs to be reevaluated.

-I’m going to start this off by saying I really am not Maggie Nichols biggest fan, her gymnastics really do nothing for me and there’s really nothing about her that excites me. That being said, Maggie was ABSOLUTELY ROBBED out of the AA silver medal. The over scoring that Kyla received was ridiculous and this is even in comparison to the rest of the absolutely ridiculous over scoring that occurred at this meet.

-So overscoring, like a cagillion beam score over 15…? Give me a break. The international scoring last year was so tight and I feel like the US is setting itself up for disappointment. Minus vault getting a 9.0 E score is such a rarity and yet Marta was handing em out like candy.

-From over scored to over rated. Texas Dreams. Look their athletes are fine but when everyone was declaring them “one of the best elite gyms in the world” I was like …why? Because Chelsea Davis got named to the 2010 world team (during a down year for the US) and got hurt before she could do anything. Or because they have more elites than every other gym (even if some (most) are mediocre)? Bailey is a fantastic AA gymnast but for me she’s a bit vanilla and doesn’t stand out anywhere. People are saying she can put the challenge on Simone but I just don’t see that yet. (Also she’s broken and elbow injuries are a bitch.)

-Finally some MAG, people are all up in arms about Paul Ruggeri being left off the team most likely in favorite of Alex Naddour. There are 2 good PH workers in the US, Naddour and Mikulak (Sam was of course always going to be on the team). They NEED Naddour. Remember last time what happened when they relied on Sam, Orozco, and Leyva to do pommels. Yup, shat the bed. The events that Ruggeri is good at can easily be covered by people who are as good or better at a greater variety of things. (They also named the 6 people ahead of him in the AA to the team, who also happen to fit better in 3up/3count.

    The end./Sorry for the novel/rant

    • gymtruthteller Says:

      Overscoring at US Nationals? Never.lol

Naddaur isn’t even that great at pommels any more. His scores are middle 14 even at US inflation.

    • TrishaG Says:

There were two ways to be a lock for the Worlds team for MAG. Either finish in top 2 for AA or finish in top 3 for 3 events. Paul was the only gymnast to finish top 3 in 3 events, yet he wasn’t named to the Worlds team and is just the traveling alternate. Yeah, I think he was robbed for Naddour. Ruggeri makes up more on vault and floor than we’d lose on PH without Naddour.

Regardless, Paul met the criteria set forth to make the Worlds team and yet he wasn’t put on it. That’s not right.

      • biyatch Says:

its top 2 AA AND top 3 in 3. Gymcastics posted the USAG selection criteria.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I read some where Ruggeri was top 3 on 3 events and he still wasn’t chosen? It explains the overscoring of Bozo. They needed to get him into second.

      • TrishaG Says:

Oh, it is?? Huh, so no one met it. Well, here’s hoping that Leyva looks inconsistent in training and Paul gets to replace him.

    • TrishaG Says:

Actually, after looking at the results closer, Leyva should be the alternate. He only fits in on PB in TF and we have enough other guys on the team who are strong there. Naddour is also good at rings. Leyva can’t add as much to a team as Ruggeri can and it’s crap that he’s on it.

  21. Kaley (@kittykatgym) Says:

I missed Nationals on NBC (yay! no commentary for me! :P), but I got to see the videos today. Simone’s unbeatable. She has so much difficulty already, yet she’s playing it safe. Her vaults are gorgeous and look way to easy for her, especially her Lopez. She needs to bring in the Cheng! It looked really good in training videos. I love Biles on floor! Not artistic, but she really sells the routine and makes you smile. I know artistry is subjective, but IMO Simone isn’t artistic yet. Her tumbling is delightful as well. It’d be even more amazing if she brings in the triple double and full twisting double layout! Her scores are HUGE!!! Domestically she has been scoring 15.5-15.8 on floor, and the international judges love her as well, so I’d say she will score around 15.5 at Worlds, if her landings are as good as they have been. Her beam was unfortunate day 2, but she’s been looking more steady as seen on day 1 and Classics. Her day 1 score of 15.7 was definitely a gift, but if she’s that steady, she’ll probably score low 15s internationally. Her bars are looking really good right now. She was one of the girls who wasn’t overscored on bars. I think she’s score around the same 14.7-14.8 scores at Worlds. Basically, $eamoney will win the AA, VT, and FX titles at Worlds this year! I think she’ll be able to sweep the AA and FX titles the entire quad tbh. Regarding Kyla, her gymnastics seems to have unfortunately deteriorated. She NEEDS to upgrade, especially on beam and bars, if she doesn’t want Locklear, Kocian, Dowell, Baumann (if they go to Worlds), and Biles to qualify over her in EFs on either bars or beam. Otherwise, Kyla will probably win silver in the AA again, since there is no competition.

    My Worlds Team:
    VT: Nichols, Dowell, Biles
    UB: Ross, Dowell, Locklear
    BB: Ross, Baumann, Biles
    FX: Nichols, Dowell, Biles

I think Skinner will be killed by international judges, so I didn’t include her and added Nichols instead. Nichols has really nice floor presentation and is steady, even though she isn’t a stand out.

Dowell is only if she is ready by Worlds. She is really valuable, if she can hit vault, floor, and bars. However, if she can’t get it together, than I’d be forced to use Skinner instead.

Locklear’s bars are gorgeous and will probably be able to score mid 15s internationally, even though she was really overscored domestically with her 15.7s and 15.85s. If Locklear isn’t consistent enough, I’d use Kocian instead. Kocian is a great bar worker even though she is messy and super overscored domestically. Those 15.4s and 15.5s were HUGE overscores. Her leg separations kill me. I’d say she can still put in a solid 15 routine internationally though.

I LOVE Baumann on beam even though it’s really her only good event. I thought she was scored fairly at Nationals, since she was really solid. I love how fluid and solid she is. That onodi is gorgeous. She could be gorgeous on beam and floor, if they gave her good choreography, instead of the posey, buttshelfy Nasita stuff. It’s SO frustrating.

Also, Steve Penny, John Rothlisberger, and Kyla Ross in an ice bath together. I thought you’d love this picture GTT. 😛

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I am jealous of you missing the commentating.lol

      • Akshay Says:

Am I the only one who is creeped out by that picture?

      • Kaley (@kittykatgym) Says:

The picture is a bit creepy. I was quite weirded out when I saw it… I don’t understand why John and Steve need ice baths…

      • gymmom2 Says:

Did listening to Nastia it make you reconsider Sam as a commentator?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

If you are talking to me kind of. I do hate nepotism and I hate the fact that Miller and Borden are both more qualified but if it came down to Sam and NastIa I would chose Sam but she still annoys me:)

      • Gymbee Says:

Haha I want to hear Nastia now for comparison. I thought Sam and Evan’s(?) forced “banter” was awful to listen to.
And I don’t get why, if one of the commentators used to compete/are still competing, why oh WHY must the other commentator always make some joke about “oh why dont you do this in your routine next”. I get trying to get the “athletes” point of view, but when they can’t add anything of value at all, other than “oh yeah I think I will try that hahaha” its just stupid.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Lets put this in perspective here. Sam = Chicken Pox as an adult when you never had it before and Nastia = Malaria.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

        Nastia = Ebola.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Malaria was listed in 10 worst disease article but I guess Ebola works too:)

    • sainabou nyang Says:

Ewww completely grossed out by Penny’s big ass squeezing into an ice bath with Kyla. Who thought this was a good idea? Poor Kyla lol.

    • G Says:

      Hello! I’m new here 🙂

I don’t see Dowell making the team, maybe if she’d absolutely nailed her routine but really, when has she ever? I suppose she could be ready by Oct. though it seems like a long shot. I definitely would rather she she goes over Skinner, never been a fan of hers.

      And that picture! WHY?

  22. Exgymgurl Says:

No way Dowell is going after all her mental mistakes. No way baumann is going injured. She may never be back. Skinner is going, but she needs to stop one arming that vault even live it was obvious to me. Ross and Biles are going locklear is going. Nichols is going. US need to be strict on the difficult score but should just hike up the execution everywhere because for some reason the international judges rewards americans with crazy execution scores just as at nationals.

Gymnastics is boring and my little Romanian hope Laura Jurca didn’t even get a medal though the Chinese gymnast is certainly interesting. Wang Yan. Everyone is talking like she can’t do AA because of her bars. But be a three event specialist i.e. Sacramone, Cheng Fei, Ponor and others. This one though looks to be capable of bars better than Raisman. So I am hopeful that 1.5 handspring doesn’t disappear in her transition to senior.

Yeah, Wang Yan makes next years’ team and the Rio team much stronger. I hope she improves on floor and vault over the next few years, but of course – perhaps AA as well.

I think Wang Yan could be an AA threat. She needs more consistency on bars but shes young and has time to imprive. It also doesn’t hurt that sue does two hard vaults-Tsuk double and Rudi.
