Marta is funny

According to this article about the end of the USA team training camp Marta worked on artistry with the girls. Ha Marta makes a funny comment.

Anyone believe this? Sure she worked with Kyla and finally sent someone to work with Simone but Marta has been in charge how long? It took her 14 years to finally realize artistry matters?

Sorry (Not Sorry) I don’t buy it. First I don’t buy that she actually spent time working on artistry with this group of Senior girls who with a few exceptions probably won’t even bee around in 2 years and second, Marta working on artistry is a nice concept but lets be real here what gymnast has she ever coached or Nationally trained that has ever really been an artistic because of what she might have done?

I am sure there is some no named gymnast Marta coached that never amounted to anything who might have been artistic but my guess is that gymnast was trained somewhere else before they ended up at Karolyi’s

This picture looks photo shopped. I know its not but it just seems like this picture is not possible.I think that is Amelia Hundley holding up Kyla but imagine the strength in her arms to do that let alone with Kyla on her back. CRAzy.

Celebrate Oklahoma winning the National title.

I still can’t believe they made them sit there and wait ten minutes to find out they won and then they gave the trophy’s to Florida. I can’t believe Florida acted like such selfish bitches about it too.

Family Gymnastics Challenge

This is really cute. My vote goes to the little sister. Loved her handstand. Mom is clearly a plant in this competition. She has to have been a gymnast before. Baby gets honorable mention for the smile during the handstand competition and last but not least mad props to dad for all he attempted:)

Who wants to help me figure out what this song is about? I have always been a big fan of lyrical songs like this (Think Anna Natick’s 2 am) but I am at a loss for words on this song.

Its called, Read all about it

If I had to guess I would say its about a women who feels like she is being kept down by a man but it could also be about a couple who can’t share but I feel like I am missing something with just those opinions.

What do you think? (Besides me being nutzo:)

I wasn’t too far off. Its about not being able to say something but the song itself was about a family.

I can’t listen to the music or the video right now but I had to comment on the Marta working on artistry thing. Is this another phrase/saying for the camp was just another means to have the girls (that don’t really matter) compete against one another just in case it ends up making a difference? I mean most of the seniors that “do” matter have their routines set in stone/choreographed already.

Maybe she told Bailey to straighten her knees and Kyla to stop the weird pauses on beam.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Kyla’s beam is very precise. I think those pauses are her

    • JAS4 Says:

I don’t buy the Marta/artistry thing unless USAG has been reading gym blogs or listening to Valentina’s blabbering but I doubt that lol

    Baby wins! πŸ™‚

  3. Exgymgurl Says:

There is a pic of Amelia and Lexie doing the same thing a few weeks ago. I think its just a matter of balance.

There are too many people out / injured right now.

  4. sainabou nyang Says:

Perhaps Marta was using this camp to have the girls work on pointing their toes, flexibility, better extension, and keeping their legs straight on LOSO.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

Perhaps Marta is using this camp to torture everyone.

      • Case Says:

Just another day at the ranch….

      • Melanie Says:

Bahaha, Case, that’s just what I was thinking. It’s not exactly newsworthy if Marta holds a death camp – they’re ALL death camps!

      • sanitynmotion Says:

And to be honest, artistry is something they should learn at an earlier age. But whatever.

The list of injured Russian gymnasts is getting ridiculous. I mean seriously, they have gymnasts sharing hospital recovery rooms in Munich. And what is with all these gymnasts getting non-sports-related illnesses and needing to be hospitalized (I’m talking Komova 2013, and apparently now Kramarenko)? How are the Rodionenkos still in power?

    • Karlie Says:

Don’t forget Mustafina in July 2013 (right before Universiade) – she had just gotten out of the hospital with the flu. Serious question: do they not get vaccines? At least two of the hospitalizations have been vaccine-preventable diseases (meningitis and the flu) and you would think as athletes that live together they’re required to be fully-vaccinated for such contagious diseases…

      • Melanie Says:

I completely forgot about Mustafina…I bet you’re right and they are not immunized. I mean, they don’t even get surgery in Russia, but rather fly to Germany for all medical procedures.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

They should be vaccinated but I’m sure a lot has to do with the quality and care of the facilities they live in. They probably don’t keep it up. Probably money/capital related. Sad to be honest; the least they can do for these girls (who dedicate their livelihoods to this sport) is keep a clean and safe gym.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Nastia came back with whatever strain of meningitis too.. #nastiahasherpes and #nastiahasmenengitis. #valtrex shortage #needsome #iswearididntgetitfromvaleri

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Nastia came back with hashtag fameWhoreIwantAttentionLetsPretendIamSickMeningitis

      • uglyfatkid Says:

        @Exgym and GTT – LMAO!!!!

      • mim Says:

nastia is like the gymnastics version of jenna maroney but not as hilarious. attention seeker extrordinaire.

      • Case Says:

Somebody needs to take a bottle of Clorox over to Round Lake. I admit all these illness are crazy.

        Love the hashtags ladies!

      • Gymbee Says:

Do you mean Jenna Marbles? πŸ™‚

      • Karlie Says:

Jenna Maroney is from 30 Rock – and OMG that is actually such an accurate comparison. I actually snickered out loud when I read that πŸ˜€

I’m glad someone else sees it! πŸ˜€

very interesting document they’re making public on usage site. in particular check out the bolded on page 3. cough cough geddert fong cough cough

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Lets ask Wofford if her emotional and physical needs were met?

    • gymtruthteller Says:

My favorite part is the don’t tell the truth about how we emotionally, mentally and physically abuse our athletes section bolded on page 3.

Oh man this needs its own blog. I wonder if I have the energy to do that

    • Quick Says:

Kind of crazy/sad that the medical staff isn’t allowed to discuss injuries and diagnoses with the girls. Wonder if they are allowed to tell their parents…

    • H Says:

was she ever considered as a bar specialist for 2011 – 2012 season?

  7. Exgymgurl Says:

My favorite part is wheee it says do not be Al Fong or john Geddert and publicly discuss things via phone or email. Choke the coaches much…..

  8. Tortuga Says:

Oh my have you guys seen this pic of Nastia? I just saw on Tumblr, hopefully it isn’t old news lol.

  9. gymtruthteller Says:

Y does she insist on dressing like a hooker. Those boobs are pushed up. I have real ones believe me those are pushed up. I can do that without a

    • Tortuga Says:

Idk, but that’s worse than McKayla’s pictures to me, and she can post some pretty questionable stuff from time to time. Like the pic on the bicycle recently. I was thinking oh McKayla honey, be careful. But I believe she is 18 now and can present her self how she sees fit. I myself am glad I didn’t have so much social media to exploit myself at that age, because we all do dumb and questionable things. I believe one of the differences is now it’s on the internet for everyone to see and add insult to injury with their own sexist comments. #GenerationMiley is really taking a toll on me lately. I know women should be able to express themselves but I’m personally more reserved and feel that men just want to jump on that to make their own sick comments about what they would do to a girl in bed, when she posts stuff like that. I refuse to be reduced to an object!

    • Case Says:

If the shoe fits Nastia, if the shoe fits….

Or in this case, if the shirt doesn’t fit just wear it anyways.

    • mim Says:

Maybe she’s tired of being single ha. Not the approach I’d take but if she’s a grown woman who wants to get her girls out so be it. I just don’t want to see them.

  10. Jenn Smith Says:

I’m glad you mentioned UF and their reaction to being co-national champions. I was disgusted by their clear disappointment in sharing the national title. Especially Sloan. I love OU’s program and attitude. I feel like OU earned that title by their routines and skills and UF was given the title because they won last year, have Sloan on their team. They were overscored all season. I never understood “Bridgey” being the Floor anchor, behind Sloan and Hunter (I don’t like Hunter, but she is one hell of a college athlete) but then for Bridgey to get that score was just a joke. She doesn’t dance. She prances around like a horse. Just disgraceful.

  11. flippateer Says:

A bit more from Ebee about her decision to retire…this is a few days old but I hadn’t seen it. New points:

    – She never really planned on going to Rio and doesn’t think that she’s going to regret not going to the Olympics
    – She started thinking about enrolling at Stanford this fall back in January, and made her decision in early April before Pac Rims
    – Her wins in 2014 did not impact her choice, because “it was really a decision that I wanted to move on from gymnastics.”
    – She doesn’t think that Worlds 2014 would make her feel any better about her elite record.
    – She also considered Alabama and Florida for College, but picked Stanford – possibly because she plans to study biomedical engineering.
    – She is not planning to return to elite after college.

    • Akshay Says:

Biomedical Engineering? Holy crap! That’s one of the top fields in demand these days, and it’s incredibly difficult. I legitimately think Ebee is incredibly intelligent.

    • mim Says:

Ebee is all kinds of awesome.

      • Karlie Says:

Ebee has always come across as extremely bright and articulate in interviews, which has always impressed me. Even in interviews from camp, she was easily the most well-spoken.

She’s amazing…a world-class gymnast who’s going to be a biomedical engineer. What a great role model for young girls. πŸ™‚

      • sanitynmotion Says:

She’s like the Amy Chow of the 90s, haha.

      • Melanie Says:

Yes, definitely like Amy Chow! Kyla Ross also reminds me of Amy Chow in many ways – intelligent, level-headed, great bars, stiff dance (haha). I imagine once Kyla’s done with the sport she won’t just become a gymnastics coach; not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it is always impressive to see gymnasts who feel comfortable moving on to other things, like engineering or medicine. They didn’t get to be at the top of their sport just because – these girls understand hard work and apply that work ethic in every arena of their lives.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Kyla Ross’s worst form is light years ahead of anything Chow ever did. lol

      • Melanie Says:

Nah, I liked Amy on bars. I thought she had pretty nice form there. And she definitely had better knees than basically any of her teammates except Miller.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

NO Amanda and Jaycie were light years ahead. Her Vaulting was as gross or even worse than Musty. Don’t get me started on beam

      • Catherine Says:

But Amy is fun to watch :p

      • gymtruthteller Says:

but you hate Kyla so your opinion doesn’t

I never found Amy exciting I found her gross to watch. Even her bars were a bunch of stalders.

  12. Melanie Says:

If we’re going to talk about bad form, then we should discuss Kyla’s bad toepoint and the multiple form breaks she has on bars. Haha. Komova’s like the only gymnast whose form I really love.
