Is this man smoking crack?

By the way Worlds is going on. I wonder who we fix the competition for this time?

If I was you Jeremy Abbot I would forget the quad and just skate. Max Aaron you better show up. Ashley and Gracie can actually medal here with Yuna retired and whats her name in hiding.

Win this Mao because you need to make up for your Olympics.

Doha world cup starts tomorrow.
Diana Bulimer is supposed to be back in this competition I believe.

Live Coverage according to the link. Not sure if if count qualifying too.

I definitely had no idea that Worlds was going on I don’t pay attention to skating much anymore lol I am sure the judges probably already know who they are going to pick lol

In reguards to the first link I am pretty sure the guy is talking about ways to make skating worse not better! If they want to make skating better (and gymnastics too for that matter) then they should stop with the cheating judges especially the repeat offenders who they just suspend and then continue letting them judge at the highest levels!

It will be interesting to see how Mitchell does after being out of competition for so long. I am also excited to see Bulimar competing!

WTH??? I thought Abbott retired and he wasn’t going to skate again? I am honestly surprised that he is back after his horrid skate at the Olympics. I get redemption, but his track record has shown time and time again that he chokes at big meets. I guess we will see. Chan isn’t there…LOL…so if Abbott lets his brain get out of the way, he has a shot (though slim) at metaling.

I hope Max doesn’t choke either. He isn’t my favorite, but I do like the guy. I’d like to see him have some success at a big meet. More so than Abbott.

I agree about Mao (I adore her), but you know Yulia is going to come home with the gold if Mao screws anything up. They set her up at the Olympics, so it’s only a matter of time before it pays off for her.

I didn’t even know about worlds by the way. I am a big skating fan, but after what happened at the Olympics I’m still pretty pissed. I think I’ll continue to stay away (from watching at least) for awhile. I still have a bitter Russian…I mean…taste in my mouth, and I need to get it out before I can enjoy skating again.

Oh, and yes…that guy is smoking LOADS of crack. None of his changes make ANY sense. He wants to cut out the short program from skating because no other Olympic sport is judged on two separate events??? Why the hell does fig. skating have to be similar other Olympic events? If we are going to make it similar to others, maybe we should make the judging so it’s NOT anonymous…you know…like OTHER OLYMPIC SPORTS?

This guy’s a numb nuts. Clearly if he has been in charge for 22 years, he needs to go. These things should be like US presidencies…an 8 year term max policy…then you’re out. No wonder the corrupt judges never leave, they have paid off the president of the ISU for the last 22 years.

So in figure skating they have a world championships a month after the Olympics?

So gymnastike did an interview with Al Fong that they actually made free: http://www.gymnastike.org/video/740374-Al-Fong-Gives-Us-The-Lowdown-On-Desch-Dowell-Vega-and-Finnegan

    Notes about it:
-it seemed he was under the impression that Brenna would be going to PacRims
-he said Sarah was “getting ready for college”
-he said Sabrina was training with the group but little other insight
-he made reference to Maddie Desch and working towards the Olympic team… you just really hope he finds a balance between motivating these girls are managing expectations

    • Tortuga Says:

I said this on the last thread but I have a feeling were all done in that one. Al also thought Brenna and Sarah were shew ins for the 2012 Olympic team. The guy obviously doesn’t manage expectations well. At least Geddert had a reason to be cocky with the world champion under his belt.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Disappointed about Sarah, but I think Sabrina could have had a really decent shot if she upped her bars/beam difficulty. She has great form and did well at the international meets with those judges (I’m just going off of her beam score at Worlds 2011; she was up there with Aly). That would basically be competing for Kyla’s spot though, and I’m a bigger fan of Kyla. Although I do prefer Sabrina’s floor over Kyla’s too (at least the artistry).

      • Exgymgurl Says:

On what planet? Brenna Dowell is like the fourth best AA gymnast plus she doesnt compete like she trains. She trains fucked up and competes better but Marta is not Russian and does not like that. Note to Al Fong. Farm your gymnasts out to Azerbaijan so they have a shot at the olympics. Brenna is not much better than Peyton. Maggie and skinner. The rest of your gymnasts are below them and not even event specialists. Marta will take the top 3 AA gymnasts and two event specialists to worlds and to the olympics. Shes been doing that now since 2008, and she still remembers getting stuck with Courtney McCool in 2004. Marta is big on this top 3 AA formula, and none of your gymnasts fit that. None of them right now are event stand out specialists either. So do yourself a favor manage their expectations.

Figure skating: not going to invest my time in a sport where it’s just blatant cheating. I like to watch at the Olympics but after Sochi I wonder if I will even bother caring.

I did read somewhere that S Korea finally did issue a formal complaint to the ISU and demanded an investigation. They were saying that they hoped their athletes wouldn’t be penalized for such a measure (which is BS given now that Yuna is out they really have none to worry about) but we all know that the complaint will still go nowhere.

I honestly hope people stop caring about figure skating because it would serve those asshats right. It’s not a sport when everything is fixed.

A video of Simone practicing a TTY! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=299202186893497&set=vb.171339019679815&type=2&theater

    • uglyfatkid Says:

Oh wow! Thanks Byrd! Out of all of the supposed attempts I have seen over the years, hers looks the most rotated. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a LOT better than the other attempts I’ve seen.

Good for her. I hope this pushes Maroney at worlds this year. If she ever wants to make another Olympic team again, she is going to need the TTY in my opinion. That, and a great floor routine. She also would be smart to have beam as a back up as well. Just encase it’s needed in an emergency. I would forget bars though…it’s a waste of time for her and her skill set at the moment.

      • JAS4 Says:

It looks like she gets it around pretty well but it looks like the landing would be more tough on the knees (not necessarily just her but anyone attempting that vault including McKayla)

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I agree. First thing I thought was goodbye knee.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Yeah this seems too risky for Simone. She’s got such difficulty on the other events she doesn’t really need to risk herself for vault. Keep with the amanar and maybe up to a Cheng or whatever for the second vault.

Even McKayla might get the TTY eventually but she needs it more than Simone because Simone is a much better AA’er. If McKayla wants to make it to Rio she needs to be solid on vault, beam, and floor – and have more difficulty than she now does. She’ll be like last quad’s ASac. I wonder why Marta doesn’t tell her to forego bars.

      • JAS4 Says:

I think its because the twisting is so fast even though she is getting it around she is going so fast its like its hard to stop the twisting before landing I wonder if maybe more height off the table would help so the twisting doesn’t have to be quite as fast giving time to stop the twisting motion before landing
