While I was sleeping: The Fierce Five edition (Minus 1. As if:) Plus

Jordyn Wieber looks great. Hindorff and DTY into the pit. Hindorff is the most overrated skill in the sport (next to the Pak) but it looked good anyway.

Aly also looks great. Check out the face. She is losing the weight.

Teen of the week has a Fierce 5 mention

Article with a Mckayla Maroney mention.

Mckayla Maroney helps a sick women feel good about herself, indirectly

There doesn’t seem to be any Kyla news so I will just post this. Someone has too much bleach and too much time on his hands.lol but whoever this kid is very impressive.

Simone Biles article. I like that I finally like some US gymnasts and can be happy they won their medals.

Gracie Gold the idiot.

She is not a child and she is not slow. She has to know how this sounded and how it made her look. People are defending her stupidity and the hypocrisy needs to stop. Look at the outrage at what went on with the Italian gymnast. Peopled raked her over the coals.

Stop blaming Phil Hersch for pointing out what she said. Reporters report the news.

Kyla admitting Stanford is her first choice. She is pure awesome.

  2. nero Says:

I’ve watched that Jordyn bars video about ten times and this was me every single time

And Aly looks great also. So how about the Fierce Four next year with Simone and Polina???

I wonder if Jo could be competitive in the AA with a DTY? Kyla, Aliya, Larisa and Yao sure were so why not her?

Excuse me for the next year while I dream of Jordyn Wieber World AA Champion 2014.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Polina is never going near a world team. Like ever.

      • nero Says:

But she’s my hometown girl!!! I have to be blind to her faults

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I am not blind to Aly’s faults and she’s my hometown scratch that my home state girl.

Okay be blind but I can’t be and I am mean so watch out:)

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I’m game for Fierce Four plus Simone and Kocian. Isn’t Katelyn done? I guess I can’t count out Ebee either at this point.

No wonder Marta won’t retire with a field this deep. It’s crazy.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Kocian is overrated. If she wasn’t at Woga she would be a non name.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I liked her bars. I didn’t realize she was Woga.

There aren’t really any stand-out up and coming juniors in the next year are there? Everyone waiting for Hernandez and Key? And Chow’s chick…you can’t forget Chow’s chick…what was her name…Norah something?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Flatly or Faltely I forget but isn’t she too young this Olympic cycle. I don’t really know.

        Its Flatley.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

        Chow’s chick = Shawn’s “little sister” (gag)

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Flatley is old enough. She was born in 2000

      • Tortuga Says:

Chow has two promising juniors. Norah and Alexis. Not sure if they will be old enough for Rio. I’m still holding out hope that maybe Millet will come back and wow us with confidence next year. Fat chance but who knows. I think people forget Kocian is from WOGA because she’s isn’t coached by Valarie or Yvgenny(sp?) I also wonder if Lexi will be back in full swing next year or if she will just try to stay healthy for college.

      • byrdisthewyrd Says:

Tortuga, I just read an article on Lexi this morning saying she’s definitely trying for the Olympics and some world teams. It said that’s why she did these surgeries in 2013, so she wouldn’t have it spread out over the next couple of years.

      • Catherine Says:

Norah is 2000, Alexis is 1999. Both are superb gymnasts in the making.

I’m not sure about Kocian. She can be relevant for UB/BB, I think. Shchennikova, no. Milliet..I would be very surprised. Ernst isn’t enough to stand out as a bars beam specialist yet in my view. Hults, maybe. Hundley..I think she may need an injury from someone else or a failed comeback to get on a team. The more I consider her the less sure I am. Bars are useful but her beam is not. Could be a good person to have in TF though. Ebee..even worse on beam but again could be great in TF. Or could be injured again.

Also hard to know about Lexie. I think she will need Aly to not be ready next year.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

Worlds is going to be interesting next year. I would not have bet on McKayla coming back that quickly. Fierce four plus Simone and Katelyn is my pick! every day gabby is not in the gym, is another day farther from being ready for rio…

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Katelyn the girl currently not training?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Don’t forget the surprise gymnast we have never heard of that always shows up

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Its my dream. I know it won’t happen.. The Jrs are very flat and boring. Maybe that grace Quinn chick or proof Buecler out of nowhere

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Poof will be a division 2 College gymnast.lol and I don’t even remember Grace (wait was that the CGA girl with the pretty floor routine with level 3 tumbling?

      • sainabou nyang Says:

Gtt I think you mean Emily Gaskins. I think MLT is keeping her difficulty low as she doesn’t turn senior till 2016 and perhaps she wants to see if lexie and amelia will last until 2016.

      • mim Says:

Amelia Hundley turning senior just seems like such a non-event. probably because her and Lexie seemed like seniors for years already.

    • uglyfatkid Says:

I’m with you Nero (and Sanity…she’s a big fan too)…Jo for the AA World Champ!

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Hey I can Drea…. As Sam Peszeck spells I for dream like the rest of the world. Poof is committed to Georgia… Oh yeah that kind of is a DII program. Aside from Simone and Katelyn none of the new seniors impress me. I told everyone EBee would peace out to Stanford. Kyla is still a junior in high school……..

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Yesssss Go Jo, is all I’ll say. I love a kid with heart, and she’s got heart.

Also, she got screwed by Olympic beam judges, let’s be honest. She deserves to go for it. That’s what she worked so hard for. Damn judges.

      • uglyfatkid Says:

        Preach it Sister!

  3. DL Says:

Great Biles article! I didn’t know that she had to have surgery…I hope she’s healed up in time for next year. Maybe she can have her growth spurt while she’s resting.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

If only growth spurts waited for your injuries:)

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Growth spurts seem to happen more often when the gymnast is resting or recovering. Look at Komova and even Musty. Biles is definitely in for one. Who knows. I haven’t read the article yet – she has to have surgery? I would read it but I’m slammed on the job right now and figured to bore you all with my pointless commentating.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Biles already had surgery. Little chips of bones needed to be cleaned out. Yes it has another name but I forget:)

      • uglyfatkid Says:

        Bone spur.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Bone chips. Bone spurs. Tomatoe Tomatoe 🙂

      • uglyfatkid Says:

        Lol. 🙂

      • Catherine Says:

There’s a new BTR with Biles, I’m guessing it was filmed a few weeks back, new swishy hair extensions are in and she’s had the surgery and back in the gym. They are doing individual skills, upgrades. Soft landings though I think she will be back to normal training by now with what her coaches were saying with getting the all clear.

It showed her doing double doubles, double arabians, double tucks, pikes and 2.5′s on those mattress type mats. Not a bother on her. Also her beam series and leaps. AND training a Bhardwaj which looks very clean by the way. Something was said about a Shap, I think they are still working up to a shap half variation, she counts a C in her routine from the last low-high transition and she’s been saying on her ask.fm for ages that learning the shap half has been difficult.

  4. uglyfatkid Says:

I agree 100% about Gracie. It’s the same racist crap that the Italian girl pulled…just a different medium.

I’m going to sound old, but I don’t get kids these days. They all post stuff online that I would never dream of doing. It’s like they can’t have a single thought without posting it somewhere.

I will always remember the saying, “Say it…forget it, write it…regret it.” Not that you can just say stupid shit and not get called out for it. But that when you write something there will almost always be a record of it…just like that tweet. The anonymity GTT gives us here is great, but even with it, I would never post crap like that.

Anyway, she’s racist to me and deserves fallout over it.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

I was thinking about something this morning. I mean, smart phones have been a significant presence for what, 5 to 6 years? And already our society – and ESPECIALLY the younger generation – are completely dependent on them. Like we literally can’t leave home without them (well, I can, but I’m old, right?).

The other thing is, younger kids (and even adults now) are relying more on devices to communicate rather than communicating directly with each other. I’m seeing a lot of the repercussions already; my teenage nieces don’t really understand what I would think would be normal body language, you know?

This is an extension of uglyfat’s comment about kids having the “need” to post every inane thought that goes through their heads. Like everyone cares about what they think or do. I swear, kids these days are so self-centered like literally they think the world revolves around them. I guess that aspect was no different from when I was growing up though. Just thank Gawd there was no such thing as social media back then.

      • uglyfatkid Says:

Agreed. And you would think that since they were writing (texting, tweeting, etc.) all the time that at least their written communication skills would be better than their verbal…but it’s not. I cannot tell you how many teens/young adults I have run into who cannot string a proper sentence together. I’m not a grammar Nazi or anything, but some of these kids seriously are almost illiterate when it comes to writing. There was a girl that literally didn’t know how to use simple punctuation. Everything was one long run on sentence. I remember that I had to read her stuff once through slowly so I could put in periods, the read it all over again with punctuation just so I could understand it. It blew my mind.

And for the record…I know that not all teens/young adults are bad writers. I’m not THAT old where I think every one is that way. It’s just interesting to see how things have changed now that I’ve been out of high school for 10 years.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

For some reason people love to scream racism only when it concerns black people but all the hate the Chinese gymnasts have gotten over their stature as gymnasts is just as racist but for some reason it gets excused.

Look at Miller and Dawes in 1992. Did they look 15 or 16? no they did not.

  5. sainabou nyang Says:

Ebee signed her NLl and is gonna compete for Stamford for the 2014-2015 season.
