Congrats Yaz. We call this man a class act because he didn’t sit there and talk about himself. He mentioned everyone and he gave shout outs to whom he believes should be in the Hall of Fame. Hopefully I get ALDS and or ALCS tickets so I can see this before next year.

How gross & nasty is Gabby, tweeting that she never opened her gym bag from the Olympics until now…a year later? Who admits to being that nasty? YUCK!!!!!

    • Karlie Says:

(Former D1 college soccer player here)
When I got a new soccer coach who mandated that we all use different standardized bags, I transferred everything important (cleats, etc.) to the new one and didn’t open the old one for about a year. When I finally searched it I found $20 and a few t-shirts that I had vaguely wondered what had happened to.

…I actually don’t think that’s too uncommon, haha. Especially if it was a bag that she didn’t normally use. I actually found it kind of funny because I bet a lot of my teammates would say/do the same thing.

  2. Karlie Says:

Good for Bailie. I’m bummed that Hernandez kept her inconsistent streak and fell on bars, but she’s got plenty of time to clean up.

Munteanu’s tumbling is nice and clean, and she looked like she could dance, but I really didn’t like the choreo of that routine – there were a lot of pauses and she didn’t seem that into it.

    • uglyfatkid Says:

I agree Karlie. Those pauses were distracting to me. Hopefully someone will teach her a few random arm or leg moves if she encounters having to wait for the music again…that way it’s not blatantly obvious that she’s waiting.

Does else anyone find it odd/distracting when comps aren’t on podiums? Watching some of the old meets in the 90’s and seeing Bela’s big mug right there is creepy to me. Or the fact that the audience is like 5 feet away.

  3. exgymgurl Says:

Remember. Natasha Kelley and Bross also won this meet.

  4. gingercrush Says:

I really like the look of Munteanu. She did a FTY here but is very capable of a DTY. Her BB and FX can only get better and more difficult as she progresses. Her UB like all the Romanians will undoubtedly hold her back.

I’m not surprised Bailley Key is far and beyond everyone else. The Russians look a bit scary to me and I was very surprised to see that all the Japanese girls were relatively weak on Uneven Bars.

  5. JAS4 Says:

Glad to see Key win and I hope Laurie can improve her consistency.

I was thinking about Kyla and her endurance (or lack there of on floor at the moment), and find it a little fishy that she started on floor during nationals. Do you think her starting on floor is a coincidence?

Don’t get me wrong, I love Kyla and am not trying to insinuate that she had anything to do with it. I just find it odd that she started in the event that she was having endurance issues on. Had she started on vault and proceeded through the comp, would she had faired so well with floor being last? At worlds, she’ll end up doing floor last if she is in the top seed of athletes. I hope she has been able to work out her endurance issues, cause I would hate to see her kick ass throughout the comp then fall apart at the end because she was tired out.

Also, do you think we’ll see the whip double back at worlds? Since she is struggling as it is without the whip…I think not. But part of me still secretly hopes we see it (just like Maroney’s alleged TTY).

    • lol Says:

It was decided in advsance. If you start day one on a certain event day two is the oppisite. All decided before she even fell.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

I still wonder how the heck is Kyla having issues with endurance on floor when she wins the physical comps at all the camps and then has no issues with her bar routines – I’m told bars is the most physically challenging endurance-wise (we all saw how Nastia had endrance issues on her “comeback”). Simone says she lacks endurance and has NO problem doing really difficult tumbling in her floor routines.

  7. exgymgurl Says:

Key took gold in all four event finals. just WOW……

  8. biyatch Says:

Bailie killed it, without a doubt. I think her all around score from today would have been 58.875, which I would guess might be enough to get on the AA podium (bronze perhaps) in Antwerp. Its always difficult going in as a favorite and getting the job done but clearly she managed quite well. Wonder what happened to Laurie’s floor today, she had .3 nd and was not able to break 14.

Someone who asked about the world’s medals this year:

  9. Tortuga Says:

Training video from worlds. Kyla looking really solid on beam, slight faulter on a full turn. Shows everyone on bars. McKayla not hitting handstands and really close on her gienger. I’m sure she is only practicing to not loose skills not to be considered to compete at worlds. Brenna falls on release move, looks painful. Didn’t show much of Biles but she appears to be moving well.

    • Flippateer Says:

thanks, this is great! Was a bit starved for Worlds team footage now that McKayla’s gone off Vine and Keek. 😉 Will have to keep fingers crossed for McKayla to do AA in 2014, but doesn’t look like it’s in the cards for this Worlds based on that UB practice. Wish there had been more of Biles, but good to see everyone looking pretty decent on their events – except that fall from Brenna.

    • Catherine Says:

It’s been reported Brenna nailed the tweddle to straddle back connection over and over again, pity they didn’t film one of those.

      • Tortuga Says:

I had a feeling they probably just caught her a one of the rare falls, but it did look like it hurt:/ Of course they didn’t catch the many other good ones.

      • Karlie Says:

OMG that shot of Marta’s face.
