At what age do we have to take responsibility for our actions?

I guess my self imposed Gabby Douglas ban at this blog is officially over at least for today.

Writing this blog has been damn near impossible. It originally started out as a positive piece on life’s lesson and then quickly turned into a name calling hate fest. I am still not sure exactly what way I should go on this?

Should I call Gabby out for being a liar which she is or should I give her mother credit for finally putting her foot down and telling Gabby what she is going to do. (we are moving to LA as a family is what the article below implies)?

Confirmation that Gabby is in deed not training at Chows anymore.

At what age do we have to take responsibility for our actions? Gabby is 17. Technically she is still a child under her mothers control but Natalie Hawkins has not been much of a mother so far. If the article above is true and Gabby wasn’t the one that wanted to move to LA shouldn’t we finally give Gabby’s mother credit for being a mother? It sounds like Gabby was told what she is going to do and I don’t know about you but I think its about time Natalie Hawkins started acting like a mother.

Gabby will turn 18 this December and then she can make her own decisions. I just hope she still has some money left to live her life because I don’t trust Natalie “bankrupt” Hawkins to put her daughters best interest first. Though putting her foot down and moving the family to LA is a start.

What do you think?

You guys are more cynical then I am. lol You don’t trust Gabby’s mother at all while I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Am I the only one that finds it interesting that I gave her the benefit of the doubt and you people nailed her to the cross?

I will stick to my first thought (more like hope) that Gabby’s mother is finally going to act like a mother.

If Natalie Hawkins is insisting Gabby move with them to LA because she has the best interests of Gabby at heart, then obviously I think that’s what Gabby should do (and apparently is doing). But I doubt that is what is going on. Is there some coach in LA who will be better for advancing Gabby’s career than Chow? I doubt that, and in fact wonder if Gabby has even found a coach in LA yet. I would think that if that had been lined up we would have at least heard rumors about it. I suspect the reason for this move is that Natalie thinks she will have a better opportunity to cash in on Gabby’s fame in LA. Gabby’s fame and fortune are going to fleeting, and will be even more fleeting if she doesn’t get back into gymnastics soon.

    • Sara Says:

I agree with you on the last part. Natalie seems to just want to cash in on Gabby’s fame. But, what she doesn’t realize is that if Gabby doesn’t continue to compete, or go to another Olympics really she is not going to continue making money or being famous.
Chow really was the best for her. He devoted 3(?) years to her, and made her into the gymnast she is. I really wonder how USAG and Marta feel about this though. Marta supposedly recommended Gabby go to Chow’s and took an interest in her. Now, she leaves him because she thinks there is someone better or at the same level as him out there? No. An athlete is no where without their coach. Not all coaches are created equal…
This further proves she’s not taking the comeback seriously. Although I’m suspicious that Gabby is really just being pulled in the wrong direction by her mother, and that we’ll see a book in 15 years about how used she felt by her mother. I actually really feel bad for Gabby, which is the first time that’s ever happened.

  2. sanitynmotion Says:

Why LA? That smells very fishy to me (like, as in someone is looking to be famous). I understand that her son is going to school in CA (but then again, here I’m asking: who’s paying for it? I hope not Gabby – that shouldn’t be her responsibility; and Ms. Natalie is not “into” paying other institutions anything so I can’t see her lifting a finger to fork that kind of cash over). Unless he’s on a scholarship I don’t buy this, or she’s using Gabby’s money as a means to move the family to CA under the guise of her son going to school there.

Also, if Gabby didn’t want to go to CA then she could have told her mom no and stayed back w/the Partons or stayed in Iowa in her own apartment; I don’t buy it either that Ms. Natalie is all of a sudden wanting to be a parent to her 17-year-old daughter. She was fine to have Gabby live away from her in Iowa at the age of 15/16, so I don’t see why she’d enforce her to move with everyone at 17.

I keep going back to why California. But then again, the welfare benefits are a bit better here; maybe she can get more in food stamps. I dunno.

If Natalie is really taking the responsibility of spending all of her daughter’s cash, she should really take the responsibility to pay off her former debts. BK my a$$.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Great point. I was hoping that this meant Gabby’s mother was finally acting like a mother but it could very well be she is after the fame train.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Gabby can’t buy a house because she is under age which means Natalie bought this house using Gabby’s money.

Gabby is not smart enough to realize her future is at stake.

      • Jennifer White Smith Says:

I would love to see a picture of this house. You can’t buy a starter home in LA for less than $750,000! Hard to make those payments on disability.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

You can find a starter home in So Cal at all price ranges, it just depends on what neighborhood. For instance, you can go to Watts or Compton and find a house at less than 750k. 🙂

But yes it will be very interesting to see what they are living in. I bet they are renting for now.

  3. GymMom Says:

I’m not surprised! Gabby’s so-called “mother” has talked about moving to LA for months. Why didn’t Fatalie rent a house/condo in the midwest and actually start acting like a mother! Because her priority is capitalizing on Gabby & her quickly fading income opportunities. PLEASE let this family fade into obscurity and/or Gabby cut ties with Fatalie & go your own way!

According to my sources at Chow’s, they were caught completely off-guard, just like in Virginia Beach! The decision to uproot Gabby again was completely made by Fatalie!

This makes me ill….all of it!!!

  4. GymMom Says:

    From Chows wife Liwen Zuang:

“She came over (Monday) and said goodbye to us,” Liwen said. “I didn’t ask her (the reasons). I did talk to her. She was a little upset. I guess that’s a family decision for her.”

“We were not really sure for a long time, because we heard from other people first,” she said. “Nothing was really confirmed. We didn’t really know for sure. We heard some rumors.

    “It’s kind of awkward.”

The decision to leave Iowa for sunny California created a chance for a light-hearted joke.

“I think maybe they like to be in a warm place after she became a celebrity or something,” said Liwen, laughing.

The Partons were also caught off guard. They said Fatalie & her family moved to LA over the summer. I just saw some Instagram posts from Gabby’s brother. They apparently are living in Malibu. He officially left Virginia 2 wks ago…flying First Class. These people are sickening! I saw some casting calls for the “Gabby Douglas Story.” Haven’t we already seen that movie play out?

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Gabby obviously wasn’t staying with the Partons or she wouldn’t have had to go and tell them anything.

      Welcome back:)

      • Akshay Says:

Okay, I just wanted to say from what I’ve heard that people at Chow’s were caught completely off guard (like GymMom said), and if that is the case (which I’m pretty sure it is), that’s just rude. Like the fact that they found out that she was leaving their gym through rumors just disgusts me. These are the coaches who turned her from a headcase who was only really useful on bars into Olympic AA champ, and Chow and his wife seem like honest, wonderful people, so the fact she just up and left is so unappreciative. And this is not the first time she seems to have up and left gyms without really informing the coaches.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

She wasn’t even training there so I doubt Chow was really surprised. She was hardly ever there.

      • Gymnerd Says:

Unless she came back from Nationals and then told the Partons she was moving out? (In response to, “She wasn’t living with the Partons.” She did go to Hartford.

  5. biyatch Says:

I know Nastia normally gets the ban as well, but this video is too fantastical not to showcase.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Gabby annoys me but Nastia is just a spoiled bitch who never grew up. She deserves everything she gets

  6. GymMom Says:

“The plan now seems to be for Douglas to train with UCLA Associate Head Coach Chris Waller, a 1992 U.S. men’s Olympian, at his gym near Los Angeles.

Waller has a good track record with older, more experienced gymnasts. He notably coached 26-year-old Mohini Bhardwaj onto the 2004 Olympic team. He has also been tapped to work with Jordyn Wieber, who will attend UCLA this fall.”

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Pam Anderson and the publicity bought Mohini a spot on that team. Waller has never produced a successful elite gymnast that he didn’t steal from someone else.

      • GymMom Says:

Its probably a decision made by Fatalie to give the impression Gabby is training for Rio. Another phony “comeback.”

    • sanitynmotion Says:

I feel like they are moving to LA to try and get on the fame train. They had a taste of the fame bug and they (meaning Natalie, and to some extent Gabby) want more. Good luck kiddos.

Natalie, get yourself a job already. You’re pathetic.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

        DWTS rumor has surfaced.

      • biyatch Says:

i have a hard time seeing dwts producers wanting a gymnast 3 seasons in a row… i do however remember hearing that shade was outmaneuvered a bit last season and that gabby had wanted on from within agency circles.

    • Gymnerd Says:

I read elsewhere that she’s going to “train” (fitness) AT his gym, but not be coached BY him – conditioning and the like.

  7. GymMom Says:

    Read these comments…realness!

  8. gymnastwannabe Says:

I can’t see how Gabby’s mom isn’t using her money…the cost of living out there is crazy!…there is no talk that she moved for a job. I’m concerned Gabby is being guilted into being the provider for the family…but why do they need her in CA to use her money. I want to hope her mom misses her and wants to spend time with her but…hmm…I don’t know. The pre-olympic story was how it was so hard for Gabby to leave her family in VA and be in IA and how Gabby wanted to quit and go back to VA…now the story seems reversed. Gabby has no friends in CA…where is she going to finish her schooling…ugh…I do feel for her…did Jordyn know about this? Wondering if they’ll train together…could be interesting.

    • GymMom Says:

Chow is probably breathing a sigh of relief! No more Fatalie to deal with.

      • Akshay Says:

I’m inclined to agree with GymMom here. When there were talks about Gabby making a comeback earlier, Chow basically was like hold on. If you’re going to comeback and if I’m going to coach you, this is going to be a serious comeback. I think Chow knew Gabby wasn’t actually going to be serious in her comeback, so I think he’s kind of glad he’s free of the drama surrounding her and can just focus on Norah Flatley and Alexis. Plus, I definitely thought Chow cared about her, but I never felt as if Chow and her were as close.

      • Gymnerd Says:

And I’m wondering if the coaches at Excalibur are laughing/feeling vindicated.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I don’t think so. It’s not good Gabby and her family are getting away with this, no matter what gym they do it to. They should be forced to pay up, at both gyms. Especially now that she has the money.

  9. DL Says:

I can’t imagine there’s any money left. This is going to be a really sad story four years down the road.

How can parents live with sponging off their teen children?

    • gymtruthteller Says:

California has laws on certain % of the money earned going into a trust so Gabby should have a little when she turns 18.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Yeah but that depends on where the money was earned, right? Guessing most of it’s been earned by now, so whatever she makes from “now on” might be protected to some extent..but that can’t be much.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Anything she earns in Cali, yes.

      • DL Says:

I loathe her attitude but I really hope there will be enough in trust for her to go to college if that’s what she wants to do once the fame train leaves the station for good. As it is, she’s barely more famous than a local weather girl. What a waste of talent.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I don’t see her being smart enough to get into a good College.

  10. sanitynmotion Says:

So I hope someone calls out Gabby for saying she’s “for sure” attempting to go to Rio now. This move basically says (to me) that she’s done.

    • GymMom Says:

I have also heard the DWTS rumor. Oh and adding insult to injury, Chow isn’t even in the country! So she left without saying good-bye. Wasn’t that what she did in Virginia Beach too? Her coach in VA was out of town when Gabby skipped out there, leaving them holding the bag. Trashy classless people. Missy Parton was just interviewed and she said she knew last week Gabby was leaving. It was obvious something wasn’t right when she talked about Gabby. It was more what she didn’t say.

    • GymMom Says:

And Gabby’s brother seems to think he’s going to be in Rio running track? Who the hell does he think he is?

  11. terrigymfan Says:

I’m betting Natalie and Gabby are stiffing the Partons bigtime on what they owe them for Gabby’s room and board.

    • GymMom Says:

What do you mean? They never paid one dime to the Partons for Gabby’s room & board! And they stiffed Chow too! Losers!

  12. GymMom Says:

The word over at Inside Gymnastics facebook page is that Gabby & Fatalie owe Chow money. Same MO as in Virginia Beach. I’m sure they will try to rake Chow over the coals at some point.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

GGMB reported the money thing first.

      • GymMom Says:

It seems like the story about them owing money to Chow is credible,.

      • Brouhaha Says:

Comment was removed because I never said that.

        Gabby owes Chow money? smh

      • Akshay Says:

This comment has been removed because I never said that. If I did say it I meant Gabby. Shawn never owed Chow money that I know of.

    • terrigymfan Says:

Of course the Chows and Partons know what probably will happen if they say anything publicly about getting stiffed — they will be accused on mistreating Gabby, she was subjected to racism, etc. etc.

      • GymMom Says:

Gabby has further damaged any lucrative opportunities by publicly slapping Chow & his wife in the face. The Chows are well-respected world-wide. I don’t see how Gabby has much, if any money left from the few endorsements she had. Another reason to help explain why companies like Nike didn’t sign Gabby for an endorsement deal. Fatalie, her so-called mother destroyed any other opportunities. If anyone noticed, most of these “Disney kids” have not fared well & have experienced significant personal problems. Fatalie is hell-bent on getting Gabby money-making opportunities before Jan 1 2014, when she turns 18. Rumors continue about Gabby doing DWTS. Even if she signs up for that, its not what I consider “big money.” I think Shawn earned somewhere around $400,000 her first time around. Alot of money for the average person but in “Hollywood” thats chump change. And remember Shawn won. Gabby is not Shawn!

      • GymMom Says:

Yes and they have a successful fitness business that doesn’t need any negative publicity, regardless of how much we would like them to call Fatalie out. Makes me sick!

  13. GymMom Says:

I sensed something with Missy Parton from when Gabby came back to live with them this last time…yeah she has something that she wants to say about this.

  14. JAS4 Says:

I some how don’t think Gabby and Jordyn would train at the same gym but who knows! Jordyn seems kind of iffy about her comeback but I wonder if it wasn’t Marta or some other reason then maybe her Parents are behind the UCLA now instead of later decision since they know about all the politics behind comebacks (and anything else) in USAG and knowing she wasn’t a Marta favorite before perhaps they decided to convince her to go ahead to UCLA

  15. CMR Says:

Fatalie is living vicariously through Gabby, moving to California to “live the dream” on Gabby’s dime. It’s clearly a move to capitalize on whatever opportunities may be out there. Look what happened with McKayla. She definitely had more access to TV appearances, award shows, media signings, etc because she was in the LA area. However, that was all done in the post-Olympic months. The 15 minutes are over now and Gabby isn’t going to find many people in LA willing to make a fuss over gymnastics.
There doesn’t seem to be a plan. Fatalie just wants to be out where she thinks the action is and seems to believe people still give a crap about Gabby’s sob story.

    • GymMom Says:

Oh ha ha you picked up on the name “Fatalie.” Its true though.

    • GymMom Says:

The movie about Gabby thats being cast is a TV movie…nothing significant. Fatalie left the Partons to explain to the media etc. Thats about as low as you can get. They were actually out at the lake trying to enjoy the last few days of summer vacation. I feel bad for the 4 Parton girls, one of whom gave up her bedroom to Gabby, These are salt of the earth people with no hidden agenda, who are(were) naive’. They took Gabby in, after things fell apart with the first host family, without being compensated anything. They are just good people whose kids go to Chow’s Gym who saw a need & stepped up to help. I know for a fact that Fatalie offended them repeatedly, but from their perspective, they were there so Gabby could succeed. They are the kind of people who wouldn’t say shit if they had a mouthful. They work hard at a local crossfit bootcamp/fitness business they own. They don’t want to do or say anything that would cause a backlash against them or their business. My parents were business owners. Fatalie has no clue what it takes to build a successful business. All she saw was a huge gorgeous home in West Des Moines and the Partons who are clearly upper middle class, who were willing to put up with her flakey daughter(Gabby) free of charge. Those 4 girls thought of Gabby like another sister. Fatalie & Gabby thought of them as part of the “cash cow” that they no longer need.

      • CMR Says:

Agreed. It’s terrible to see good people get screwed. However, eventually people stop falling for the act. Fatalie and Gabby are in for a rude awakening. No one is going to think she’s special in LA. It’s a town full of people trying to make it. I’m also just going to be completely honest because I feel like this blog is a place where people look at everything pretty realistically: black people don’t care about gymnastics. Gabby and her mom and Oprah made a huge deal about her race but they didn’t account for the fact that pandering to that demographic doesn’t result in a pay day. It’s not a market in this sport. She should’ve been a GYMNAST first and not a race-card pulling mouthpiece.

  16. GymMom Says:

The new cast of DWTS is going to be announced Sept 4 on GMA. The timing of Gabby’s abrupt departure fits with that. The contestants usually meet their partner etc. leading up to the cast reveal. Oh and DWTS provides housing for the cast.

    • Gymbee Says:

Man do I feel bad for whoever she will get teamed with. Especially since, being 17, her mom will have to be there in the room when they’re training!

      • GymMom Says:

Gabby is only “training” for the cameras. She is not now serious, nor was she serious in June when she went back to Chows.

      • Gymbee Says:

I meant training for the dancing, if she is cast on DWTS.

      • GymMom Says:

I’m sure she will be paired with Mark Ballas & yes I do feel sorry for her dance partner too !

  17. GymMom Says:

Wow…the comments against Gabby around the blogosphere are unanimous for the most part. Even if she is cast on DWTS, that will not repair the damage of quitting another gym without paying!

  18. GymMom Says:

The VMA’s are tonight. I’m sure Gabby will be there…but not like she was last year, performing during Alicia Keyes song. By the way, did you know that a heckler jumped onstage during Gabby’s accepting a Teen Choice award recently?
