    Nice photo.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Isn’t it:) WordPress is being a pain in the ass so I will fix it another day

  2. biyatch Says:

According to Simone, Brenna won senior verification again this camp. I am really really not a fan of her gymnastics… Classics and Championships should be very interesting.

    • biyatch Says:

oh and simone was second, abigail third. really wondering what the deal with price and kyla is.

      • tulip Says:

Maybe they didn’t do the all around?

      • exgymgurl Says:

Do we even know if EBee was there? Im thinking that Maroney and Ross are being taken to worlds as specialists.

      • mimi Says:

i’d be happy for mckayla to be specialist but to see kyla as a specialist seems like a waste of talent. seriously what is going on with her coaches on this? saving herself from injury for college or are they just easily led by marta?

    • gymtruthteller Says:

If they take Brenna to worlds the judges will kill her and she will be Natasha Kelley’s to the back of the line and never seen again.

They loved Kelley until the world judges crusified her execution and she was never heard from again. The same will happen to Brenna

      • exgymgurl Says:

And Kelley went on to be a great college gymnast for KJ. May Brenna, Sabrina, Sarah Finnegan, EBee, and the rest of them all soon do the same.

      • Catherine Says:

Well..the London judges didn’t kill anyone. I don’t think that can be relied on.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Olympic judges and World judges are two completely different things. Olympic judges want high scores for the show of it all. World judges are more strict

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I was thinking along the same lines as Catherine…but then again, didn’t the World judges kill Aly prior to London? Who has worse form, Brenna or Aly?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

The Olympic judges judge for attention. World judges do a better job because it isn’t about pleasing the world.

  3. Sainabou Nyang Says:

Yah go Laurie! Now keep it up, stay healthy, and try not to end up on Martas shit list.

Lexie ended up 5th?? But second in physical capabilities? So basically shes in good shape, but her form is starting to go??? Damn I can’t wait for classics. I think the juniors will be more interesting to watch than the seniors.

I don’t know about Brenna. Im agreeing with GTT that she could be the Natasha Kelley with Lexie as Jana Bieger if the quad. I hope Im wrong.

    • mimi Says:

i agree – im so excited to see the juniors! i bet they will make up most if not all of the bunch that goes to rio.

how much do physical capabilities count at that level, do you know? i find it interesting they get scored on that at camp once they hit elite level as i thought routine verification would be much more important.

  4. Case Says:

Natasha Kelley is the perfect analogy for Brenna Dowell. That’s exactly what is going to happen to her.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

      When was Natasha Kelley around?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

2006, 2007. One of those National titles Nastia won should have been Natasha’s. Nastia fell like 4 or 5 times and still won.

Kelley was messy but Nastia fell a bunch of times and there was no way she deserved that title

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I’ll have to look her up. It must have been just right before I got back “into” gymnastics…

      • Katie Says:

2006. Elfie and Tim were going nuts bc nastia grabbed the beam instead of falling completely off (although she fell a couple of times on night 1) and that is what saved her title. Then she had a bit of a temper tantrum while she was waiting for her score and her dad basically ignored her until they found out she won.

  5. Case Says:

Aww…Aly’s crush just got traded to Dallas. Hopefully her heart will go on.

  6. mim Says:

brenna leading this pack is so surprising. i’d written her off as fading until she starts college gym.

how did non-national team members get places in champs at camp? don’t they need to qualify from classics?

yay for laurie. i mean, it’s a bit late in the piece but it would be a good boost for her.

  7. Kylie Says:

can you get me up to play with the Breena thing – why will she crash and burn. Sorry not to up play with things of current!!!

    • gymtruthteller Says:

A lot of skills but very sloppy execution.

Marta has a habit of propping people up and then when they get to worlds and don’t score well forgetting they exist.

      • Gymnerd Says:

Is she pulling her trick of propping one girl up to scare the hell out of the other girls into working harder?

      • exgymgurl Says:

You never know…brennas a gage gymnast. They normally have great form. She could have improved.

      • biyatch Says:

Its not just execution but presentation and fluidity. I mean compared to Brenna, Aly looks like a Soviet ballerina. (Yeah its that bad.) Routines (including floor) dont look like full routines but one skill followed by a break and then another skill in succession.

  8. kittykat Says:

Woah. Nia Dennis’s standing arabian is HUGE

    • Sainabou Nyang Says:

I saw this and thought whoa this girl could be a contender at Junior nats. Many think Bailey is a lock to win Junior nats.

      • kittykat Says:

If she hits with her upgrades, she could be a huge contender. This girl is super talented, I’m excited to see how she goes at classics/nats.

  9. biyatch Says:

So it doesnt look like Price was at camp. From this pic we see: Amelia (assuming), Kyla, Maggie, Mac, Paulina, Brenna, Peyton, Lexie and Simone.

    • exgymgurl Says:

I think EBee is dropping to L10 and going to college….. just IMHO. Why kill yourself in elite when you probably arent going to Rio and you have a full ride to most likely stanford. Her parents are smart…..

    • Karlie Says:

I don’t know, she doesn’t give any indication of that in her last interview.. Maybe she’s injured or had a personal issue? She said she’s “working on new skills” and upgrades, “especially since her injury set her back.” She calls Classics a “practice meet for Championships” and wants to make the World team.

(Side note: she’s by far the most articulate person who was interviewed – the only one who seems kind of natural on camera. haha)

      • mimi Says:

she is very well spoken and seems like a really nice kid. it would be nice to see her succeed, at least one worlds team!

and unrelated – her skin is amaaaaaazing. so clear and perfect.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

She kind of reminds me of Marion Jones (looks-wise) and to me that’s a compliment.

    • Gymnerd Says:

Is it my imagination, or is McKayla sending a death glare in Simone’s direction in that picture?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Yes it does seem that way but they all look pretty miserable in that pic

  10. exgymgurl Says:

I noticed that also on the USAG page. Plus she tweeted about weather and it wasnt Houston weather, and someone mentioned meeting her at a Parkettes camp last week.

As for Brenna Dowell, lets wait for Classics to see if she has improved. I mean I dont think she could get worse, so who knows maybe her injuries were making everything look much worse than it normally was last year. Do we have any recent video that might indicate anything? Because for the most part Biyatch/ GTT I agree with you.

    • sj0126 (@sj0126) Says:

I think there’s also a change that their might be some gamemanship going on in these camps. Wouldn’t be surprised if Kyla or McKayla or hell both aren’t doing all they could so they can surprise everyone at Classics/Championships

  11. Allie Says:

    Wow, no WOGA kids here…..

  12. Lyra Gill (@lygill) Says:

A bit OT but check out this short documentary (short right after 2010 Worlds) about Kohei Uchimura. Pretty interesting!

  13. sanitynmotion Says:

This whole thing makes me a tad worried for Kyla’s part. It’s like Marta continually forces her into that whole “specialist” block and if she’s forced to go there she’s going to get passed up in the next year or two, easily.
