  1. exgymgurl Says:

Not at all surprising…. I guess if it goes to trial we will find out. Only thing is there are many other gyms she could train at. Her bars are bad so Brestyns would be a good fit. AOGC would also be a good fit. GymMax not so much. It must be going to pretrial if we havent heard about it, or he has an arraignment on an indictment or something. Surprised in Michigan that isnt news. Maybe Kelli Hill could fix Jordyns bars. Maybe there is hope for her.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Hill needs to stay away from Jordyn. That women is such a phony and only trains headcases.

I cannot find one article about there being a case. If there was a case wouldn’t it be in the news? I thought these cases had to be open to the media?

      • Kazic Says:

You would think that it would be news. I’m reserving judgment on this rumor until some part of it can be corroborated. And I am back!

      • Gymnerd Says:

Kelli Hill doesn’t even coach anymore, does she? Are you thinking of MLT?

I won’t believe a word of this till something actually happens….if only because something would have come out by now….

      • mimi Says:

im not sure how it works in the US but in australia it would be as simple as looking up the daily law list for the particular court in the particular jurisdiction.

if this allegation is true – i’m curious if this is civil litigation or if this is a criminal proceeding. given the complete lack of information to this prior, i suspect it’s the former. speculation of course.

      • Katie Says:

I can’t believe that none of this made any kind of “news” up until now.

      • byrdisthewyrd Says:

Mimi is right. Once a lawsuit is filed it becomes public record and should be found pretty easily. You’d just have to look in the county where the incident happened which would be the county that the gym is in. In Illinois we have a website called where you can look up lawsuits in any county just by using a party’s name. I would think there would be something similar in Michigan and that this would be a pretty big deal.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Jordyn’s bars aren’t “that” bad – she has potential. Brestyan’s is hardly the place to go for bars (ASac, Aly – really?!?)

  2. nero Says:

There was obviously some reason why Jordyn stopped fully training. I’ll reserve my anger and judgement until concrete facts come out instead of rumor and conjecture. Innocent until proven guilty.

I do wonder if it is in Jordyn and her family’s plan for her to go to UCLA and continue to train elite why is she still semi training at Twistars? Her mom even went to the summer camp to speak. Why wouldn’t they be putting some space between them and Geddert if this is indeed all true?

Surely Jordyn could condition at some other gym while waiting to go to UCLA in the fall? I wonder how far away Mckayla’s and Kyla’s gyms are from campus, if that really is her plan (I REALLY hope she continues elite) having the support of another elite/friend could be great for Jordyn.

  3. tulip Says:

My gut says this is not true. It took decades for usag to ban Don Peters and his child molesting ways were in different types of media over the last 30 years… And they let him be.

I do get “off” vibes from Geddert but not in that way. More, big fish in a small pond and it went to his head. A little too self congratulatory. Not icky illegal stuff.

  4. JAS4 Says:

I don’t know whether to believe it or not but I really hope Jordyn stays training elite! Style wise I would think Texas Dreams might be a good fit for her but if she wants to go to UCLA maybe Miss Val and her staff can help keep her at the elite level or train with McKayla or Kyla. AOGC is 9miles or about 20minutes from UCLA and Gym Max is about 48.6miles or an hour away. Gym Max might be a bit far or a commute with college but AOGC could work if she wanted to train with McKayla

    • JAS4 Says:

By the way I googled mapped those distances so they could be wrong lol

    • mimi Says:

i agree that AOGC could be great for her 🙂

    • sanitynmotion Says:

I live in So Cal – commute-wise if she’s going to UCLA it’d be much more convenient (MUCH more) to train at AOGC.

Or maybe she could still be elite under Val? Not sure how that works. She’s worked too hard on her comeback for it all to go to waste on a lawsuit, if that’s the case.

I’m innocent until proven guilty too. I think Geddert could have the creep factor going on (wouldn’t think he’d want to put his gym/business in jeopardy though for a fling with an assistant) but tulip makes a great point with the whole Don Peters fiasco. His was obvious and it took YEARS.

Plus, if the Weibers were trying to put distance b/t him and Jordyn wouldn’t she NOT be coaching at his camps?

  5. mimi Says:

these allegations are serious so im glad you have your disclaimer first and foremost at the top of the post GTT 🙂

i’d be very surprised that such apparent “inside info” would only be coming out now if it was “going to trial tomorrow.” i call BS on this and i honestly hope for all their sakes it’s just a bunch of rumours or misinformation. in this day and age i would think that kind of behaviour would have spread amongst the gym community and more people would have caught wind of it before one sneaky tumblr post.

that tumblr is also rather silly for not chucking in a perfunctory “allegedly” before noting the rumour.

lately i’m thinking there is no major conspiracy for her training/not competing and maybe she’s simply a perfectionist who doesn’t feel as ready or on as she would want to. she seems pretty all or nothing in her approach.

  6. Catherine Says:

A very good source has confirmed this somewhere else. I’d be more inclined to believe it than not believe.

    • JAS4 Says:

If there is truth to it I wonder if thats why Jordyn gave her notice before when she was on tour (not just so she didn’t have to pay although that’s a good enough reason itself) maybe they found out about it and wanted to try to stay away from it but then maybe they thought the allegations or whatever had been resolved for whatever reason but they weren’t (sorry it’s way late/early so not sure how much sense my ramblings make lol) either way I hope Jordyn continues training elite! I was really hoping on see Jordyn compete this year! If the rumors are indeed true and the Wiebers did have knowledge of it then I’m surprised they continued her training with him instead of switching gyms or something unless maybe they have reasons to believe the allegations against him aren’t true and they were hoping it would be resolved or another senario might be that whatever went on (if anything actually did) happened while she was on tour and they weren’t aware of it until after she was already training again

      • Short1 Says:

“If there is truth to it I wonder if thats why Jordyn gave her notice before when she was on tour (not just so she didn’t have to pay although that’s a good enough reason itself) maybe they found out about it and wanted to try to stay away from it but then maybe they thought the allegations or whatever had been resolved for whatever reason but they weren’t.”

^I was wondering the same thing.

    • mimi Says:

is this source confirming the rumour or confirming the allegation? innocent until proven guilty and all that jazz.

i’d like to believe it’s not true but i guess time will tell what’s going on.

    • lol Says:

What source? No offense to you but who is this source and where did you har it?

      • Catherine Says:

Someone who knows what they’re talking about and doesn’t jump on bandwagons. I absolutely do not trust tumblr accounts blindly or anything, only people who actually do have inside information and have been proven to have been right before. We’ll all know soon enough one way or the other I’d imagine. Not that I’m going to go with 100% true, hang him…as I said, more inclined to believe than not believe on the back of that.

  7. Gymbee Says:

That’s weird that we wouldn’t know till now. I’d think the media would be all over it if the coach of a high-profiled Olympian was charged with assault. That’s gold for media – especially Michigan media?

Especially if it’s going to trial today?!

  8. Sainabou Nyang Says:

Wow. I hope this isn’t true. I guess we’ll wait and see what happens.

  9. exgymgurl Says:

it probably isnt going to trial. Its probably in arbitration which is confidential. If John is any kind of employer he has clauses that say you must agree to arbitration before a lawsuit can happen. Assault in the USA is just touching someone anywhere ( even on the shoulder) when they dont want to be touched. He could have gotten in a heated arguement with an employee and touched their shoulder. Even if police are called that kind of thing with an employer usually goes to arbitration. If it went to criminal trial hed do no more than 30 days. In arbitration odds are the employee will get some kind of monetary compensation, which would take years in the US legal system and require a whole separate trial.

  10. Tortuga Says:

My guess is that people need a different reason for why Jo can’t compete this season. Everyone was soo excited about it and now we just can’t settle for “She has too many obligations this summer.” There must be more to it. I agree she is a perfectionist, she wants all or nothing, Geddert as well. They have something to prove. I believe she really does have a busy summer with engagements she made back on tour possibly earlier than that when her training plans were up in the air. I hope these allegations aren’t true. And if her and her family decided to stay with him knowing this assault happened then I’m disappointed in them as well. However changing gyms and coaches is tricky. There’s always the possibility it could not be a good match and her career could suffer from it. I guess time will tell. Like a lot of other people have said, wouldn’t this news have come out earlier if this was true? The media loves this stuff.

    • Gymbee Says:

I agree. Also, there’s no way the Wiebers (and anyone else at the gym) would not know if it happened. Gyms are rumour mills, people who work together so close everyday will know this stuff. Don’t think Geddert would have succeeded in keeping it hidden, even if it did happen when Jo was on tour, like someone suggested.

  11. brouhaha Says:

tumblr is blocked at my work …. can anyone give me a summary of what the rumor says please ?????

    • Katie Says:

Geddert is being accused of physical assault by an assistant coach at twistars. Something is being made public today.

  12. biyatch Says:

If true, does anyone else see the twisted irony in Jordyn being the new spokeswoman for the Mary Kay domestic assault awareness campaign…

    • Gymbee Says:

Hahahaha. Didn’t think of that. Oh the irony.

      • biyatch Says:

PLUS, the Wieber’s give John a cut of her endorsements, her association with someone accused of what she “stand up against” really doesn’t help with her branding. If I were her agents I would be on red alert.

  13. lol Says:

If I was assaulted no amount of money would make me stop until the guy is in jail. I don`t believe people who sue for money and don`t want real justice .

  14. Case Says:

It’ll all come out in due time.

I also heard Jo’s looking to enroll in UCLA this fall. AOGC is close, but Maroney didn’t like training with Kyla so I doubt two foxes could hang in that hen house if you get my drift.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Where did you hear Maroney didn’t like training with Kyla? They trained together for years and years…and Kyla’s not one to want to take the limelight away from anyone, so she’s a perfect training partner for someone like Maroney.

      • Katie Says:

Maroney left bc the coaches were much more attentive to kyla

      • lol Says:

The rumor is Mckayla wanted the spotlight and Kyla was getting It and Mckayla wasn`t. I also heard a long time ago that Mckayla was being over shadowed by Kyla’s success and her team felt she needed her own gym to shine.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. Kind of sad that one team/coaching pair only has room for focusing on “one” elite athlete? I wonder if there’s any bad blood between them and McKayla (Gym Max) – it didn’t seem like it at the Olympics and even at the last camp it looked like Jenny was positioning the vault springboard for McKayla.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Oh – and also interesting because she left Gym Max for AOGC, which at the time was training two elites that were getting a lot of attention – Sam Shapiro and Mattie Larson, right?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

She was still a junior if even elite so it didn’t really make a difference at that time

      • biyatch Says:

Mckayla’s done an interview were she said at her old gym (aka gymmax) they basically wanted to make her into a specialist and she wanted to be an all-around gymnast. the funny thing is both her and kyla ended up at the Olympics as specialists. The most she was ever going to be allowed to do was 2 events even if her toe wasn’t broken. You do wonder if she was health and hit floor in prelims if they would have put her up on floor in TF over Gabby.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Maybe (to rest Gabby for the AA) but I saw it more where they wanted to showcase Gabby as the only FF member doing all 4 events at Team Finals.

If anything Maroney would have been put on floor in Quals over Kyla – in fact I was surprised they didn’t until I heard later her toe was injured.

But yeah how ironic that both girls were looking to be AA’ers but ended up as specialists.

I literally at one point in 2012 thought Kyla would get that second AA spot – with her amanar, better beam/bars than Aly, and I wasn’t factoring Gabby to be propelled so quickly to that front spot. Then when she downgraded floor and couldn’t compete the amanar anymore, I saw the writing was on the wall. It really felt like someone was in the background holding her back. Maybe the amanar wasn’t intentional (to lose) but Marta insisting Kyla not upgrade her floor kept Kyla back big time.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I agree with you. Kyla was held back last year and nothing can convince me other wise. It was suspicious. Kind of like Bross not taking out the beam dismount. That is why Marta needs to go

      • Catherine Says:

McKayla’s scores pre and post gym move definitely validate the sense in her moving. I think she would have completely faded had she stayed.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Not sure about McKayla being forgotten on her vault alone but yeah – definitely justified looking at her floor before and after.

I honestly hope McKayla uses this quad to show she’s a true AA’er. I definitely see it.

      • sj0126 (@sj0126) Says:

mckayla would have been forgotten. yeah she did the amanar, but in 2009 visas she sat it down. she switched to AOGC and stuck it and went from like 20 something to 3rd in the AA. AOGC just fits McKayla’s style better. I don’t see why that wouldn’t work for Jordyn should it come to that.

  15. terrigymfan Says:

It will be interesting to see what this assault allegation against Geddert exactly is. I doubt a lawsuit has been filed thus far because if it had it would be public and there is notway there wouldn’t have been some mention of it in the media. More likely I’m guessing is that they’ve been trying to resolve it out of court and can’t so now a lawsuit is about to be filed. We’ll have to wait and see. If the rumor is true I’m wondering if it is a “shoving” type allegation or if the allegation is of a sexual nature (maybe groping or perhaps something even worse). He’s married and his wife runs the gym with him, which adds a whole other dimension to this if it is the latter.

  16. sanitynmotion Says:

I have to also add that Iordache’s triple twist didn’t appear to be fully rotated and the way she landed it is an ankle injury waiting to happen…

  17. gymnastwannabe Says:

When it comes to working with kids, you are innocent until accused. Regardless if he is innocent or guilty, if it goes public, imo, he’s done. No parents will want to take the risk of putting their kids at his gym. I just hope that if it goes public, the accuser is being truthful and not revengeful b/c his career will be over. If he did assault someone, then his career should be over.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

      I agree.

I can’t imagine how hard this must be for Jordyn if indeed he is being accused. He is probably a father figure in her life, given she’s been coached by him since she was small.

    • Gymbee Says:

If this is indeed true (ie, the rumour), how the mighty have fallen! A year ago he got an olympic tattoo on his back.

    • Katie Says:

Meh. It’s too bad he’s not Eastern European. Bela, belu, and many soviet coaches have faced many assault accusations from their own athletes and no one seems to care.

  18. exgymgurl Says:

Keep in mind the legal definition of ASSAULT in the US is perhaps very different from overseas. Battery would be a lot worse. Felony physical assault a lot worse. Misdemeanor assault with no prior record is actually less damaging to ones reputation / career than a DUI in a lot of cases. Physical assault can be as simple as agressive positioning towards someone without actually hitting or touching them. Just a “threat or perceived threat” of physical violence.

We dont actually know all of the facts here and assault is very much open to interpretation. Battery is actually hitting someone. Most of the time assault cases are handled with a fine and thats it. He may not want to plead guilty and he may be fighting it. If its an employee situation the employee is probably bound to arbitration first.

Please keep all of this in mind, as even the rumors dont say hes accused of battery or attempt to commit battery. This is why I could see him raising his fist at someone and telling them to leave the gym if he was unhappy. That alone would be assault.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

My father in law apparently got hit up on an assault charge by touching a lady’s shoulder. She was crying in his office and he basically patted her shoulder to try and say “it’s ok, calm down.” He was only trying to be nice and that ended up being an assault charge because this lady (Asian and not really “Americanized” if you know what I mean) mis-took his patting of her shoulder.

He felt really bad about it and it ended up being dismissed but just saying – assault is very broad in interpretation.

      • mim Says:

agrred. assault in Australia also has a very broad definition (slightly different from state to state). it can include punching, slapping, poking someone’s arm with a pencil, spitting on them, spraying them with offensive or noxious substance.. the list goes on. I imagine the US would be similar.

if this is in closed arbitration/mediation/conciliation I sincerely doubt the allegation of assault is serious, or the kind of assault one’s mind would go to in this context. there’s no way a victim of a serious crime would be involved in the less adversarial process.

john might be a douche but id be surprised if he was a criminal.

  19. biyatch Says:

A bit off topic but… who do y’all think will get the USAG annual awards this year. 2011-2012 Jo was athlete, Aly was sportswoman and Geddert was coach.

It would seem this year like they would do Gabby athlete, Aly sportswoman and Chow coach. I could see Jo sneaking in for sportswoman possibly or Mihai for coach but the other two seem the more obvious choices…

  20. exgymgurl Says:

Congrats to Johnathon and Hayley Horton on the birth of their baby boy today!!!! May they name the poor child something reasonable, or at least not “Hears a Who” as in Horton, Hears a Who

  21. exgymgurl Says:

    Phew…. David Travis Horton

    “@J_Horton11: David Travis Horton”

  22. H Says:

Sorry for being off topic, but has Rebecca Bross retired?

    • gymtruthteller Says:

At the moment she is coaching at Woga and not training. She has not decided.

      • H Says:

      • gymtruthteller Says:

You’re welcome. She isn’t coming back to training any time soon. She has gained a lot of weight. If she comes back she is going to need a lot of time to get in shape. If she started now she wouldn’t be back to next year and she hasn’t started yet.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I would bet she’s done. Even if she were back to 100% the juniors (now seniors) would eat her up.

If she were at 100% difficulty and all (from where she was in 2012) she would be “nearly” in the same boat as Kyla – no amanar, solid bars but not world medalist contender solid, good D on beam but not good E (Kyla is the opposite here; good E on beam but not good D – at least from a world medalist standpoint), and floor issues (Bross fell/made mistakes a lot, whereas Kyla’s D score in and of itself constitutes a big mistake pretty much).

What Kyla has going for her this year is her experience and she doesn’t make mistakes in competition. But if she doesn’t get her D scores up she’ll be toast in a couple years too (I know I say this a lot, but I guess part of me hopes she wakes up? I dunno.)

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Only conclusion I can come to is Kyla is still injured. She has to know not upgrading at this point is going to kill her chances.

      • Catherine Says:

The frustrating thing is that Kyla’s routines look so easy for her, and she’s so comfortable with them. It’s like she’s performing a level 7 compulsory or something. I think if it was obvious that she was struggling as much as Ohashi does through her routines everyone would be like woaahh okay Kyla, you did your best for time for NCAA for you. But she gives off this vibe of being capable of 0.5 more on every event. Grrr…

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Ah, you hit it right on the head. I couldn’t agree more. That’s what was bothering me too; it’s like she literally could do those routines in her sleep.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

That is a great point. These moves are clearly too way for her especially that double tuck off beam and on floor. At least pike the double double.

This is why I believe this is Marta related. Either that or her injury is still bothering her but that does not explain last year.

That is the frustrating part. She is so capable and is not living up to that potential.

      • mim Says:

I wonder if it’s a mental issue with kyla. didn’t her coaches say at one stage that she lacks confidence?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Nope. Don’t believe it for a second. Just last year before the trials she said she should be on the team and listed the reasons why. It was hilarious, not cocky just calmly stated.

      • mimi Says:

yes i must admit i was pretty incredulous when her coach said it. kyla does seem cool, calm and collected always!

i wish we could find out why. the lack of upgrades is driving everyone mental!

  23. Catherine Says:

Click Lansing, search Geddert. Numerous cases filed for him and Kathryn. No info on them (withdrawn?? Don’t understand terminology) but the fact that numerous cases were filed at all IS ominous, unless he’s the unluckiest person ever with false claims.

  24. exgymgurl Says:

Two of those OI and ST are traffic court issues case type misdemeanors GC is a general civil suit for money damages. OR I think was back from the 90s and is no longer used. Nothing criminal, but these are the civil codes. The first two numbers are usually a 2 digit year.

  25. nero Says:

So….I have a fun off topic question 🙂 Anyone know if a gymnast has ever won a medal on every single event at a single Worlds or Olympics?

I know Aliya was one fall off the balance beam from doing it 2010 but would she have been the first?

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Do you mean at the same worlds or Olympics? Milo has gold on all 4 events (not that she deserved them) at different times. Silivas won 6 medals in 88.

      • nero Says:

Yes the same Worlds or Olympics. I just looked up Vera Caslavska and it looks like she won all 6 at the 1968 Olympics and Silivas in 1988! I guess no one has ever won all 6 at Worlds.

      • Brouhaha Says:

        Boginskaya did at 1990 Europeans

    • gingercrush Says:

      The great Vera Caslavska.

  26. gymglitterxx Says:

LET ME JUST SAY I AM FED UP BEYOND BELIEF WITH PEOPLE STARTING STUPID RUMORS THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT. No offense GTT for sharing it & I know “don’t shoot the messenger” I am talking about the ORIGINAL poster. Ridiculous. To simply sit on tumblr and make up stories for attention. If there was even a grain of truth to any of this I would be shocked.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I thought twice about posting it but I did anyway. I added a disclaimer:)

Most comments here have been very much fair. Most people know its a rumor and everyone so far has made it known that an accusation is not a guilty verdict. Read the comments I think you will be impressed.

    • exgymgurl Says:

I think its also suspect that there is nothing on the docket in Michigan. I mean if its an incident or an employee arbitration matter anyone can say anything. By the true definitition of assault which is no different than “imposing scary presence” I think a lot of us can see Geddert coming up to that line, or crossing it if pushed. But most people in their lives have moments….and employees that lose their jobs will badmouth. Almost always. It could mean anything, and actually Im willing to give him the benefit of the doubt even if he does charge $99 for a parent VIP lounge for a week…. seems weird…

      • gymtruthteller Says:

What if this person is only looking for money? Would we hear about it then?

    • sj0126 (@sj0126) Says:

Woah, anger. The person who posted it said that he heard it from multiple sources which is why he believed it. All of the circuit court records in Michigan aren’t online yet. I went to check since they’re all online here in Wisconsin but not so there yet. They said they’ll be adding it sometime this year but for now its not on there for anyone to read. Basically what I’m trying to say is that its possible then that this could be happening now and we can’t look at it.

I seriously hope its not true or it doesn’t go anywhere. It would destroy everything John Geddert has worked for not to mention putting Jordyn in a horrible position.

  27. sportsfan Says:

If there was either a civil or criminal case involving Geddert and these alleged assault charges we would have heard about it LOOONNGGGG before today. Like many have already stated, this thing is probably headed for arbitration, which is confidential. I will believe this story when I see Geddert in court.

However, if it is true, then either way you cut it John is screwed. If this was a male employee, then I can see how this could be played off as two high strung coaches having a disagreement. Yet, if this was a female employee, he couldn’t buy himself out of the PR hit he would take. It would basically ruin him. I don’t blame the Wiebers for distancing themselves from this, if that’s what they are doing, and holding off from having Jo compete. Now, if nothing happens tomorrow, then all of this is much ado about nothing.

  28. JAS4 Says:

If Gabby was training somewhere else I would actually think that Chow’s could be good for Jordyn (if she wasn’t planning on UCLA) Chow could probably improve her bars and fix her beam/upgrade it and maybe upgrade floor as well. But I unless something indeed goes down I don’t see her leaving Geddert’s unless she is just really set on UCLA in the fall

  29. exgymgurl Says:

Soo Shawn Johnson is doing DWTS cruises for like 4 weeks straight. I hope she watches herself at the buffett or Gymmom will have a hayday….. LOL……

    • Tortuga Says:

You probably just opened a can of worms. She will probably be posting any time now! lol.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Hah! I actually LOL’d at that one!

    • exgymgurl Says:

I dont think there are twitter pics coming from the ship… Its just everyone if they arent super careful gains weight on a cruise….Thats where all the cruise wear jokes come in and the fact that shes doing 4 DWTS cruises for Holland America just scares me that she will gain weight. SIGH…..Its not just Shawn its true its very hard to be healthy around 24/7 soft serve machines and 24/7 food service and soda. Not to mention alcohol if she drinks. Everyone on cruises is so buzzed and so relaxed. I would personally not cruise its like my nightmare but people that do really love it.

      • exgymgurl Says:

Oh and my bad, its only three weeks of cruises…. let gymmom call it out as bottom of the barrell, but I bet Melissa Rycroft wishes she had that gig… LOL…. you go Shawn… more croissants and then Neon Green and yellow nike gear after your last cruise… spandex….

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Haha, Melissa Rycroft. She’s down to posting video blogs of herself and her family because she no longer can get a reality TV show I guess. One season was enough?

Shawn has gotta get the last incremental fame she can from the whole DWTS thing but I’m with you on cruises. When I read about the red bag fiasco on Carnival I mentally thought “no cruises ever” in my vacation plans. My parents took me on one when I was 5 and I got sick; my dad gained 10 lbs and my mom said she’d never go on one again either. And we were on the Holland line at the time.

      • Case Says:

Add me to the list of people who dislike cruises. The recent cruise ship disasters just reinforce my decision. I’ve been on one and I hated being confined. Plus I don’t call 5 hrs on a dock actually visiting a country.

      • mimi Says:

        i also refuse to cruise!

      • terrigymfan Says:

Ha. My husband and I took a cruise once. There was this really obese guy on there who must have weighed 450 lbs. The rumor was that he had won the lottery about two years before and decided to take one cruise after another. Supposedly he was a thin guy when he started out. It probably wasn’t true but it was a funny rumor anyway.

      • Short1 Says:

@Case I feel the same way. Between ships crashing/getting stuck/breaking down and constantly hearing about people getting sick there’s no way I’d go on one! Although, I probably wouldn’t go on one even if there weren’t all those issues…I’d much rather fly somewhere and spend my time enjoying the destination instead of being stuck on a ship.

  30. biyatch Says:

Kyla’s new floor routine… Her lines look gorgeous. Improvement of PotO but hard to tell for sure just looking at the dance through.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

What is Poto? Like her D score?

I still think she almost looks bored like it’s too easy for her. They should add some more complex dance moves to get the D score up, but I digress.

I think I’ll have to get used to it before I like it. I’m not a fan of the drama/opera type music. LOL.

      • byrdisthewyrd Says:

@Sanity, I’m thinking Poto is just Phantom of the Opera. But what do I know, I thought it was the same music!

      • byrdisthewyrd Says:

Also it seems like she’ll have four passes this time. Didn’t she only have three before?

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I think she had four before it was that one of them probably appeared so easy it didn’t come off as a pass (lol) – probably the one with the double twist. Ugh. I hope she got rid of that and I’m betting she didn’t.

Looks like the first tumbling pass is an arabian, which we’ve seen before…the rest who knows. I am willing to bet the double tuck and the double twist and then something else that’s super easy and she should upgrade but she won’t.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Oh duh yeah you’re right – Phantom. Yet the music sounded so similar (the new one)…You know I can almost tell it’s the same choreographer as Jordyn’s…the poses, especially at the end of the first tumbling run.

      • biyatch Says:

PotO- phantom of the opera 😉

      • nero Says:

        KYLA FOR AA GOLD!!!!!!!!!

I love it, a lot smoother and more mature. But Kyla please for the love of God PERFORM it when you’re competing it. A little smile can go a long way I BEG OF YOU.

She lands forward her first tumble, people were speculating if that whip double back was just a practice for a whip double arabian? I hope. So maybe whip double arabian, full in, 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 (PLEASE) double tuck.

And the Ferrari jump (it was named after her right?)

        GOOOOOOOO KYYYYYYYYYYYYLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Sainabou Nyang Says:

The dance elements I like, but man that music would put me to sleep. I cant imagine watching this at a world champ or Olympics without nodding off. If she lasts until Rio I want to hear new music with drums, a mariachi band, or something festive.

      • Case Says:

Agree sainabou….I’m surprised Zito kept her in that genre of music. Something peppier would liven her routine up quite a bit.

      • mimi Says:

the only dramatic floor music i like lately is vanessa ferrari’s from london. it suited her.

i agree – kyla needs something more fun!

    • Catherine Says:

Her lines do look gorgeous as ever but she’s so stiff. Doesn’t mean I don’t want to see her knock a 5.9 or so floor out of the park though!

  31. sanitynmotion Says:

In other news: we have our next Olympian AA winner (PLEASE):

Dude Shannon has the best agent ever. Not even a day goes by and People announces the birth.

Sterling Diane. I’m not so sure about the name but I’d take it over North West or whatever crap that is. (Poor, poor Kardashian baby).

Sterling silver but she’ll win GOLD. (lame but I laugh at myself sometimes).

  32. Catherine Says:

So Simone’s TTY is pretty impressive. It’s on top of a mat in the pit. She gets it around AND her legs stay straight and her feet only cross slightly. She lands it in a squat, a little lower than if she was sitting, and falls back out of it. Afterwards she says it’s very scary because her feet don’t rotate all the way, her body does but her feet are slower so the main thing is to get the twisting in sync. Her clearly broadcasts she won’t do it anytime soon, and yeah it’s not competition ready. But she can definitely nail that thing in time, and it’s surprisingly clean too!

  33. nero Says:

So I don’t know if you guys have this youtube bookmarked like I do but you definitely should! He is easily my favorite gymnastics youtuber. Recently he uploaded the London TF with no commentary, so you’re able to see all the girls’ reactions and here them mingling on the sidelines. I loved Kyla’s coach constantly saying to the girls to remain calm.

It’s also really cool to see everything from a different perspective. Like watching China on vault or Italy on Balance Beam while the USA is off winning the gold with their floor routines.

Great Britian’s bars is great because you get to see them cheering on Aly after Beth’s routine but you also get to see Russia’s reaction which I found very interesting. Before the final results are posted all 5 of them are clearly distraught and crying from sadness, most likely because they think they might not have medaled.

But after it’s posted instantly Komova, Paseka, Grishina and Afan are extremely happy and Mustafina is not having it at all. She’s basically like “bitches we just lost!!”

But my favorite was USA’s kick ass vault rotation. Mckayla’s is even more epic with no commentary and the natural reaction from her, the rest of the girls and the audience.

    • nero Says:

PS I forgot some of my favorite things. When Mckayla’s score comes up Kyla makes the best face and says “Ooooooh that’s exactly….” something I can’t make out.

And at the very end of USA floor rotation Mihai gives Jordyn a big bear hug and says “You are Olympic Champion” I teared up.

      • exgymgurl Says:

I think they all felt for Jordyn. I think Aly and Gabby and Kyla rallied to give this to her. I think McKayla just is a great vaulter…. and the extra 1.5 that she gave the team is insane amazing.

      • biyatch Says:

That moment between Jo & Mihai melts my heart.

Geddert running up to get in camera frame while they are waiting for Aly’s score literally saying “let me get in here,” not so much.

      • mimi Says:

where’s the footage of aly saying ‘16.5!” lol.

    • lol Says:

Better not be Nastiafanatic100011 or whatever he is calling himself these days ot GTT might ban ya. Lol.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Who’s youtube account is this? That’s cool, thanks for sharing…

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Sorry I’m an idiot – didn’t see the video link you posted. I am so super jet lagged from the multiple delays flying to the East Coast.

I soooo hate flying anymore. All the airlines suck!

    • Lyra Gill (@lygill) Says:

      Awww I love Mihai!

  34. Gymbee Says:

Shawn posted on instagram that “it’s time for me to star in my first movie! but we need your support” and theres a link to the kickstarter page of that gymnastics movie. “chalk it up” I think it’s called.
I wish people would stop giving her projects to do. That’ll force her to go to college.

    • mimi Says:

oh gosh, before i even read your last sentence i though ‘oh please just go to college or something shawn.’

is the girl afraid of real work or something? she’s better than that!

      • Gymbee Says:

I think she’s better than that too. She reminds me of a C-lister now who just tries to grab onto anything. Didn’t she once say she had plans to study medicine at Stanford?

      • Gymbee Says:

Just to say that I know that obviously plans can change, especially when you’re young! If begging for funds for a movie to star in on social media is what makes her happy – by all means I am happy for her.

      • Tortuga Says:

It does sort of sound like she’s afraid to back to the real world. She hasn’t really had a normal life since before elite gymnastics. I know she didn’t train near as much as most elites but with all the traveling and competitions you know she hasn’t ever been “normal.” Did you ever miss a lot of consecutive days at school then be almost afraid to go back because you would be so behind? Work is a good example too I suppose. I think she may feel this way. Maybe she’s afraid she’s not cut out for school. Idk, but if she has the resources to be successful in working/ making a living with out school then more power to her.

      • Gymbee Says:

Absolutely. But her latest ventures doesn’t exactly scream success IMO. I think her future success will be closely tied to the olympic cycle, her agent will probably come up with something big every 4 years.

    • nero Says:

I saw that too, but I thought it was like a reblog from Maddy Curly, the girl that was in Stick It? Because if you watch the trailer she would clearly be the *star* of the movie.

BUT if Shawn really would star in that movie please kill me now. Way to take a cool movie idea and kill it, do we all not remember Shawn’s “acting” on that ABC show?

Plus if Shawn really is a part of this project it really shouldn’t be on kickstarter. Kickstarter is for people who have NO money or NO connections. I doubt Maddy has $100,000 but Shawn sure as shit does.

  35. Gymbee Says:

The exact text is: “I NEED YOUR HELP!!! It’s time for me to star in my first feature film…. IF you help me get there. Donate to our kickstarter today ;)”

    And then theres the link.

  36. exgymgurl Says:

I think Shawn should learn to sing and be in a live action strawberry shortcake show. That is all.

    • Tortuga Says:

Hahahaha! Thats a good one. Like I said already this movie looks cheesy like Bring It On. I’m not really interested. Plus no offense to Shawn but with bad acting on top of it this will be a bad career move.

      • exgymgurl Says:

Shawn would be a perfect cameo as chia changa the chia seed girl with the magic forest of chia pets. She could do gymnastic flips to harvest all the chia seeds.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

  37. Case Says:

GTT…props to your Patriots for canning Aaron Hernandez ASAP today. It was the right move.

  38. nero Says:

So I decided to listen to the gymcastic podcast and they mentioned Chalk it up! Apparently Shawn would be playing Courtney, a former elite gymnast who now wants to be a rhythmic gymnast and they try to convince her to be on the team.

Ok…..that just sounds horrible. I would have supported her having a cameo like Nastia in Stick It because that totally makes sense. Have a known gymnast in the background and says one line just to put in the trailer and get people interested.

But Shawn actually being in the whole movie?? Ummmmmmm no thank you.

    • biyatch Says:

Well the good news is that the chance that this actually gets funded is slim to none. They are asking for $110k and have like $15k. Its been up for like a month and they have another month. I don’t see that $95k appearing. If Shawn wants to be a movie star so badly she could always fund it herself, her 2 DWTS stints alone probably made her at least $700k.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

I almost want to donate to shut that whole thing down.

Seriously, why Shawn? How desperate are you? Time to go to school.

  39. exgymgurl Says:

You know GMW is not going well when

Coreys BFF is brought in as a guest star after saying he didnt think hed ever be part of it

    • sj0126 (@sj0126) Says:

that to me says its going very well. you can’t have cory and topanga without shawn!! if anything i think rider strong was burying the lead a bit on that so people would stop asking him for awhile.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I don’t agree. Most people move away from childhood friends even bff ONES

    • exgymgurl Says:

If it were going well they wouldnt need guest stars. Maybe Shawn Johnson could star as Shawn in GMW after he got a sex change and a spray tan.

    • sportsfan Says:

The show is about the two new girls. The old cast could only come in as guest stars, and that’s being done to make sure they have that connection to the original. Disney isn’t shying away from the great past of this show, and are hoping that those of us who watched “Boy Meets World” will watch this.

I think its a smart move. You can’t ignore where the show came from, and the show isn’t even airing yet. So, its a bit presumptuous to say it isn’t doing well.

    • sj0126 (@sj0126) Says:

true but most people aren’t on tv sitcoms, hahaha. plus they played up the whole shawn and cory are like brother things so much. it would be weird if he was never around.

  40. biyatch Says:

Aly, Gabby and Missy Franklin are nominated for best female US Olympian for the ESPYs. You can vote here:

Missy probably deserves to win, I voted for Aly anyways. These things are typically fixed that the winner will be in attendance. Aly wont be because its while shes going to be in Israel.

    • biyatch Says:

the fierce five were also nominated

    • nero Says:

Dammit can you only vote once? I would have voted for the FF 1000 times a day because I think it would be amazing if they won.

Jordyn is presenting at the ESPYs, I assumed with the whole team but maybe it will just be the 4 of them?

    • nero Says:

And how is Mckayla’s vault not nominated for best moment?????

  41. exgymgurl Says:

Because Nastia wants attention she tweeted a video of a dance through and said how she wished she had competed it. And there are tears… no thats the onion.

    • Sara Says:

Oh dear god. Well that’s why you come back way sooner than 9 months before the Olympics..

    • Lyra Gill (@lygill) Says:

Choreography is much much better than her 2008 one – she actually dances in this! However, I honestly don’t think she would have competed this actual routine plus 4 tumbling passes – I don’t think 2012 Nastia had enough endurance for that.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Kind of seems like a waste – (that routine, on Nastia)…maybe she can give it to someone – like ASac gave hers to Aly.

I wish someone would have tweeted her back “maybe you could have competed that routine if you had announced your comeback years in advance (like everyone else) as opposed to months in advance.”

I think McKayla would do that routine some justice.

Notice how she couldn’t even do the split leap/jump combinations, she just ran through them.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I didn’t like Nastia’s floor. It reminded me of her old crap. There was no way she was going to compete floor training 5 months. She only had two events and she couldn’t pull that off.

      • Birgitte Says:

Really, ASac gave hers to Aly?

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Yep. Not Aly’s most recent floor routine, but look at her floor routine from 2009/2010. It was the tango one.
