Tripletwist presents Jordyn Wieber part 1 plus

The 2014 Medals for the Winter Olympics have been revealed.

Money is missing. Corrupt IOC are really a piece of work. Thanks to tulip for the heads up.

Aly is listed in this ladies top ten celebrities She will also be at Milan Lucic’s Rock and jock softball game. Small chance I might be able to go we will see. Its kind of far away. I need to bribe someone:)

Off to wait for Aerosmith

The Sochi Olympics will be interesting. They were called a major fraud today. Apparently about $25 billion has disappeared into some big pockets. When will the IOC quit pretending to be anything but extremely corrupt and money driven? How else could one explain giving the Olympics to modern Russia?

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Russia getting these Olympics is a huge joke. I would check the President I bet he has some money in his pocket.

      • tulip Says:

The Prez to check is Putin. His fingerprints are all over this. These games were awarded during the Bush era so who knows what transpired and who was involved. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Goldman Sachs was involved since they’re a part of most global events of a dubious nature. Lol

    • Gymbee Says:

SO corrupt and money-driven. All politics, not sports.
I did my MA dissertation on Kosovo, and the fact they are not allowed to compete as a country in olympic games. The case completely goes against the Olympic Charter and principles, its disgusting. I interviewed many head IOC guys and it baffled me the stuff that goes on.

      • brouhaha Says:

That sounds like a fascinating dissertation! I would love love loev to read it, or at least read some of those interviews with the IOC guys.

      • Gymbee Says:

It was really cool to do! It was a journalistic dissertation, so in form of articles. I am working on finally getting a website set up, will send you a link when its out if you’re interested 🙂

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I love listening to you people talk about your schooling. As long as I am not on the team I think my blog could take anyone else’s blog in a nice little game of trivial pursuit:)

      • Sara Says:

I have to agree with brouhaha. That sounds really interesting! Really great topic.

      • Gymbee Says:

Haha GTT great idea! What do you mean as long as you are not on the team 🙂
I always tell my husband how much I love this blog and our little community. I used to be on a gym forum, and basically no other sport were allowed to be discussed. I love that most ppl here enjoy more sports, it’s so nice 🙂

I’ve lost hope in kosovo competing at Olympics. IOC require UN membership, but that will never happen as long as Russia has veto powers and will vote against. Political hot mess, affecting athletes like judoka Majlinda Kelmendi, who is a world champion but is not allowed to represent her own country. (She went to London as Albania, and in the world champs some years ago competed for the fictional “country” of “intl judo federation”.)

    • Lithi Says:

It’s saddening that what was once seen as a goodwill gesture for all is now a corporate clusterfuck. I wish some athletes or politicians would stand up and tell them to fuck off.

On that note, the ones who claim all that money is missing are Putin’s opponents. I predict a tax evasion/extortion charge to be brought against them; it’s how Putin keeps those who speak against him in check.

  2. katecoursey Says:

Okay I’m not going to lie…I’m kinda super disappointed that Jo isn’t training for Nationals, because that means she won’t make Worlds. I think a little part of me (alright, a big part) was hoping that she would take the AA at Worlds and become one of the few gymnasts to win it twice. That would make the 2012 Olympic AA a little less sour in my head.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

I haven’t been able to see the video yet but I’m with you. She seemed to be almost there given the new floor routine and attempted upgrades/skills.

You know, her coach is probably saving her – or tempering her ’til peak…maybe all this means she’s really set for Rio after all. Eyes on the bigger prize, in other words. To me, given the intensity of her comeback, I don’t think she’s just eyeing for another World champs….I think she’s really giving Rio serious consideration, if not altogether pacing/planning for it. Makes sense given what happened to her in London.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Its suspicious. Why is she training a double double if she doesn’t want to compete?

        I just don’t buy it

      • Sara Says:

Apparently she tweeted this yesterday too: “My favorite BTR yet @gymnastike #2013Championships retweet if you BELIEVE in me.”
I don’t know if gymnastike just sent her a prewritten tweet assuming she was still planning on going to Nationals or she has suddenly changed her mind within a week and a half. It would be great if they just decided to just pull a Memmel though. I heard rumblings that John Geddert seems to be fed up with USAG and causing a bit of a stir but I don’t really know how accurate that is.

      • Uglyfatkid Says:

I think my heart stopped for a moment when I heard him say that Jo wasn’t doing nationals. I rewound just to make sure I heard correctly.

The more I think about it, the more I agree with GTT. Something seems off to me. I can’t put my finger on it yet, but something isn’t sitting well with me.

Nationals are mid August, and worlds are the very end of September. I get the personal commitments thing, but not 2 1/2 – 4 months worth. It’s sketchy to me. Either she isn’t really ready to compete because of endurance/strength/upgrade issues, or its hype to make her comeback bigger.

Hell, if Maroney can have surgery and pretend to be an actress for the last 6 months and still be preparing for nationals, you would think Jo can have a least an event or two ready.

Well, whatever the reason I’m disappointed. I really enjoy her, and was rooting for her to kick ass at nationals/worlds.

      • Gymbee Says:

I was so sure that John said she would be competing at classics though! grrr! And I also saw that tweet about the 2013 Champs. Why would she be tweeting that though if she didnt plan on going? Makes no sense!

      • LG Says:

i agree with you on that GTT. something not adding up exactly.

    • Surfergirl Says:

Don’t trust Geddert; never have, never will. Something is fishy!

  3. exgymgurl Says:

Wow…. just wow…. because of what amounts to once a week missing training shes going to wait until 2014? My guess is if ticket sales are bad to Championships she’ll make an appearance and do watered down beam a la Nastia 09. Why train all out unless she wants to build skills and skip the ranch??? This makes me think Marta has chosen her 2013 team and Jordyn is not in the mix no matter how well she does. Kyla, McKayla, Biles, Price…..with Ernst and someone from Cincinatti MLT on the training squad. It wouldnt surprise me if these new floor routines etc arent more geared toward 2014. Gabby and Aly wont be back until 2014 either…..makes room for a Zamarippa this year if she qualifies to elite. At least Anna Li is retired. I hope.

    • tulip Says:

That’s a good Worlds squad. I like it! Any chance of a completely out of left field unknown like Kayla Williams?

    • JAS4 Says:

I agree maybe Geddert knows that Marta(or perhaps she told him so) isn’t going to put Jordyn on the Worlds team this year and doesn’t want her to get discouraged with her comeback because of it maybe he knows that Jordyn would have to completely blow away the competition to be put on that team and if she’s not completely 100% even if she is still good enough to be on the Worlds team Marta will find a way to fix it so she isn’t on the team

    • Catherine Says:

I would bet on Marissa King over Zam. Zam had a slight injury and wasn’t great at NCAA nationals, some skills didn’t go her way at PGC either. She HAS the skills but struggled with the endurance needed for elite before and she’s older now. I could see her doing vault but even with a Cheng she could get lost in the crowd with a 1.5 yurchenko to go with it.

      • exgymgurl Says:

Marissa King went back to the UK with Malich to go after it in 2012 and was kind of told “no thanks” acc to their twitter accounts. I dont want Zam to go elite, I just think her teammate at UCLA Anna Lis success makes it very tempting for her. Who would be the unknown? They want Maroney only if shes doing that vault. Theres really no room for an unknown if those 6 stay healthy. I dont think Ohashi will be back or be ready. Then next year if Jordyn, Raisman, and Douglas are back who stays home? It gets really crowded if everyone gets serious.

      • Gymbee Says:

Dumb question but isn’t Marissa King British?

      • sj0126 (@sj0126) Says:

marissa said after NCAA’s that she was done competing gymnastics. Unless she completely changed her mind in the past month or so I don’t see her being an option for England.

This thing with Jordyn is so confusing and annoying. I really wanted to see her compete again, dangit. Maybe she feels like if she takes these days off leading up to nationals and classics that she won’t be able to dominate and she doesn’t want to show up if she can’t? I’ll just hope she changes her mind back and decides to do something there.

      • Catherine Says:

Ooo I did hear she’s done but didn’t know she WAS interested. GB could do with a kickass vaulter and floor worker, they’ve just lost their best gymnast AND another who was the only one actually capable of winning medals. I really feel like she could do elite for at least a year, she’s in amazing shape. That’s really why I picked her I suppose. And of course because she is British and not American..

  4. exgymgurl Says:

Yes she is British, as is Elizabeth Malich. Of the 2009 world team (Sloan Bross Williams Hong) members none of them made the 2012 olympic team. Of the 2005 world team members 3/4 ( Chellsie, Nastia, Alicia) made the 08 squad with Jana Bieger going without medals in 2005 and without a place on the 2008 team. So…Brenna Dowell might sneak in on this team too, but there are very few “left overs” besides Price at this point with Finnegan injured and basically everyone but Vega moving on with their life.

    • Case Says:

See…that’s just it. Even if the Fierce Five “get serious” I think they are all on the outside looking in for Rio. Marta’s shelf life for gymnasts just doesn’t accommodate their ambitions. Unless one of them pulls a Memmel there’s a good chance none of them will be on the 2016 squad.

I think Aly should just call it a career and cash in on her uber popularity. She’s positioned well for it now.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I agree about Aly (I just don’t see her doing better than what she’s already done) but I still think the rest of them haven’t really reached their full potential. Even Douglas, although I’m going to assume she won’t have the drive to do the hard work. I bet she pulls a Shawn and calls it quits from injury, only her injury will be a fake one.

Maroney needs to do that TTY vault. I still think she needs to prove herself capable of doing more events than just one.

Jordyn could use some redemption, as we all know. Of all of them I see her most likely to “Memmel” it. I can totally see her kill it at Trials 2016 and Marta will “have” to take her…but we’ll see.

Kyla I think we’ve discussed that to death. Upgrades, please. If she’s capable of them I don’t see why she wouldn’t have a shot at a Worlds team – much less Rio.

  5. exgymgurl Says:

Under armour leos for the rest of us……straight from the new link on the USAG website

  6. exgymgurl Says:

And these with more striping and classicly what you would expect from UA

  7. sanitynmotion Says:

I don’t think they want to fully commit to nationals yet. It might be in the plan, but they probably don’t want to share all details with the general public. They’re probably going to take it one day at a time, or maybe it’s that when Jo returns to competition she really wants to make sure she makes an impact. No watering down routines. And she probably wants to be 100% ready on all four of them as opposed to just doing a bar or beam routine. She’s really an AA’er and not a specialist on any one event so it might be wise to wait until she’s at 100% on all four events.

I don’t get it either though because what – her sister is graduating/getting married and then she’s presenting an award and doing something else. That’s what, four, maybe five days of missed practice? Not in a row either? I dunno. Maybe she just doesn’t want the pressure of coming back right away and wants to focus on having a fun summer being a graduating senior and all.

    • sj0126 (@sj0126) Says:

i think her sister lives in NYC or something from pictures she’s posted on instagram so it would be at least 3 days at a minimum she would miss for her graduation and wedding most likely. but i just don’t like it. i’m just gonna keep hoping she decides to show up anyway and surprise everyone.

    • Case Says:

Or maybe Marta put the screws to her and told her if she didn’t show up at this camp she could forget Nationals. If that was the case, I’m glad Jo chose to participate in important life events instead of catering to that biotch.

    • Gymbee Says:

I am glad she’s taking time for that though, and if she’s really not competing this year she doesn’t have to feel any guilt for missing practise. She should have a fun summer as a graduate with her friends, who are all jetting off to college. She likely misse out on so much friend time and activities training for the Olympics these past few years, so good fr her taking it slower.

But of course the ego side of me want to see her compete soon 🙂

    • biyatch Says:

shes also going to a bunch of summer camps each of like a week at a time. flip fest, igc, etc. those are big chunks of missed training.

  8. terrigymfan Says:

McKayla is back at the Ranch today for a training camp. That’s the first time she’s attended a national training camp since before the Olympics isn’t it?

    • katecoursey Says:

Yup. I’m excited to hear how it goes. She posted a twitter video of herself doing yurchenko timers for a photoshoot, and she definitely has her enormous block back….looked like she had enough height to throw a double back yurchenko.

  9. sportsfan Says:

If you take Geddert solely at his word, then I think what he is trying to do is keep some of the pressure off Jordyn, echoing what was said above. If GTT is right, and something is fishy about the waiting till fall, then I would say that Marta has something to do with it. Marta after a certain point just nixes you from participating, unless you come in and force her hand by wowing in competition, like Memmel

Kyla and McKayla are back in camp, Aly isn’t training again yet, and Lord only knows what Douglas is up too. That’s three of the “Fierce Five” who are actively working out, and we know that things are going to get crowded here soon. Something in the near future is going to have to give, and someone is getting left at home.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Well that’s what happened last quad, got crowded and people got left in the dust. Honestly for any of the FF to make it through Marta’s bullsh*t, they need to be injury-free and they need to NOT MAKE MISTAKES in the big meets. ASac didn’t make any mistakes, but I seriously think her injury is what did her in at the end – maybe Marta would have made her an alternate if not for the injury but she was off all lists when she hurt herself.

I don’t see Marta making a Nastia-like deal with any of the FF, so that’s why all of them need to come back sooner rather than later (again, excluding Kyla since she never left). I honestly think it might be smart on Jordyn’s part to take it slow. Come back full-throttle and stay in shape but take it slow on the competition/camp mode. I think John learned a lot in 2012 when Jordyn got injured at those death camps. He was blogging about how awful it was that these girls were not getting any rest, if I can remember. And then sure enough Jo got a stress fracture. McKayla, too. Honestly Marta is lucky they were still both able to compete to the best of their abilities at the Olympics – one more week of that death camp crap she may have been forced to use an alternate or to bench someone.

If only four people can go to Worlds, and Ohashi is out and so is Jo, then I can very well see McKayla (vault, maybe floor), Ebee (AA, floor), Biles (AA, vault, floor), and Kyla (AA, bars, beam) be on that team. (I’m guessing those three duke it out somehow for the 2 AA sports). Seems like we’re lacking a beamer though here. I’m giving up on the US being able to medal in bars unless Kyla upgrades a bit and surprises us.

Does anyone know if Finnegan will be back by nationals? I can see her going on this list if she’s back for beam and floor. She very will could replace Kyla if Kyla doesn’t upgrade.

      • Gymbee Says:

Yes, he did blog about negotiating so that they got a day (or afternoon at least) off to go to the movies or something.
Seems he is better at pacing than Marta is (duh.)

Bless McKayla, she is such a teenager, tweeting and vining like crazy from camp. Love it. Feels like we have a mole lol.
Aly tweeted back that she missed it (the fun and craziness in the dorms at camp, singing into hairbrushes) and couldn’t wait to be back.

      • sportsfan Says:

I think Geddart is also protecting Jo from those camps. He doesn’t want her around Marta and her breakneck training camp while she is just trying to get back into things.

I love the fact McKayla is just being a kid at camp. It at least looks like they are having fun down there.

  10. Case Says:

Is McKayla actually doing anything at camp besides tweets, keeks and vines? Lol.

    • Gymbee Says:

I like that she is such a typical teen girl. Can’t stay away from her phone 🙂 I am sure marta has never even heard of tweet, keek or vine, had she known about it, she would forbid it immediately. those camps are like north korea.

  11. nero Says:

Smokescreen, or at least I’m hoping that is what it is. Keep expectations low so if she does show up with watered down routines it’s not seen as a disappointment.

OR, they realize a 4 person team isn’t an ideal situation for Jordyn to aim and push her body for. So they realize the next two Worlds with a 6 person team and the Olympics are her best options. So keep in shape now so next year isn’t a shock to her body.

I’ll wait for the next few videos where she apparently talks about her future plans. I don’t think Jordyn is a Shawn or Nastia where she’ll promise the gymternet the world just to be in the limelight. She’ll either decide she’s going to continue the next few years, or after a while in the gym realize that’s not what she wants to do. But I don’t see her tap dancing around that scenario like certain ~other~ gymnasts.

    • nero Says:

Part 2 is up, ya’ll should check it out! Sounds to me like Jordyn is more undecided about Championships and is keeping her options open. She also said she might stave off college to stay home and train.

I think there were a lot of Chicken Littles running around after the first video came out. Just because Jordyn might not compete this year doesn’t mean she’ll never compete again. Alicia Sacramone anyone??

On one of the forums someone made a good point. Why not just go to Championships with a few routines since she’s got a free pass this year? Who knows maybe the rest of the girls bomb, or get injured and she finds herself on the Worlds team? And even if she just shows up with a watered down beam routine at least she’s back in the mix.

I believe Jordyn when she says she wants to continue and make the National team and compete again. She’s never been a BSer.

    • Gymbee Says:

So you don’t think Jordyn will tweet a day before championships of how excited she is to show everyone her new routines, and then retire the morning after? *rolling eyes at Shawn* haha.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I KNOW, right? LOL. Gawd, that pissed me off. I stopped following her on Twitter.

  12. GymMom Says:

Had an interesting conversation with the grandparents of one of my grandson’s classmates…who happens to train with Chow. We were at their school’s Field Day.

Gabby & her mother have apparently worn pit their welcome in the gym. She has a bad rep along with serious issues of feeling entitled.

Meanwhile Gabby’s mother is flitting around the country with her other daughters going to high-end hair salons etc. Shouldn’t she be leasing a place in West Des Moines and taking care of Gabby instead of relinquishing that to the Partons??? Or…shouldn’t she be in Virginia taking care of her son who is graduating from high school? This bitch is only a mother when it benefits herself!

    • sanitynmotion Says:

That’s interesting. I wonder if Gabby is indeed in training then.

Gabby’s mother, entitled. Consider me shocked. (not.)

      • GymMom Says:

This grandmother was not aware of Gabby doing any training and in fact she was surprised to hear it when I mentioned it today.

By the way, my grandson’s classmate really impressed me today with her skills. It sounds like Chow is focusing on Rachel Gowey .

      • gymtruthteller Says:

You need to tell your spy to keep her eyes open so we can find out the truth;0)

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Funny I just Googled her and her floor music is also the same one as Hollie Vice’s – I think there was a big discussion about it in the last post.

      • sainabou nyang Says:

        Amen! Keep it coming gymmom.
It makes no difference to me if Gabby returns or not. I just want to hear the gym gossip.

  13. sanitynmotion Says:

I watched part 2 – I couldn’t help but notice how her voice changed ever so slightly when she mentioned new beam connections.

  14. GymMom Says:

Yes GTT…us Grammas always get the scoop. Someone asked Gabby about competing at Visas on Twitter. She deflected the question & went down memory lane instead. Ha ha.

I read another story in the Des Moines Register a few days ago about Gabby that referenced the fact that Chow is not allowing any cameras in his gym. Gabby’s mother kind of forced Chow to take Gabby back by virtue of the fact that it was mentioned on the Today Show without even contacting Chow first.

I think Chow knows that Gabby’s 9 months out of the gym means she is effectively done with competitive gymnastics?

  15. gymnastwannabe Says:

I’m with you all in thinking that something isn’t right regarding Jordyn. In the gymnastike preview Jordyn is all hyped about her new bar skill and in the triple twist blog she says as a side comment something like “yeah, and I’m working on something on bars.” This new video was put out so close to gymnastike’s…like they are trying to correct things and save face. I wonder if they, too, feel like things were fixed in London before Jo even showed up. Maybe they know the fix is still there…why miss out on family, friends, etc…if nothing she can do will override those who can bribe the judges.

    • sj0126 (@sj0126) Says:

The videos aren’t that close together. Gymnastike was at Twistars over two months ago now. They’re just idiots and didn’t put it up until the last few weeks. I think that Jordyn is just staying in shape and figuring things out right now. The summer after you graduate is a big life changing time. Granted mine was 10 years ago but I remember wanting to see my best friends as soon as we could before we all went to college in different cities without the other family stuff that she has going on.

I don’t like it because I love Jordyn and wanted to see her out there but Geddert definitely did the right thing here. He’s taken the pressure off of her. If they want to go to visas and try out some of her new skills, they can. If they don’t, they don’t.

    • Catherine Says:

Gymnastike filmed in February. Triple Twist filmed May 20th. I watched all 3 gymnastike videos (for free, I’m not made of money) and yes they did show Jordyn’s new skills, or some of. They are weiler full and shaposh half on bars and double-turn-single turn on beam. But she never said that she wasn’t in TT video, she said she’s concentrating on maintaining her old skills, with one or two new skills (bars ones) and some new combinations (like the turn one..) on beam. Both videos are basically saying the same thing as regards new skills.

  16. exgymgurl Says:

Private VIP experience with Shannon at USA Gymnastics championshipsbid for OKC!!!!

    • gymtruthteller Says:

That is not a bad price either. Those tickets alone for a single person is 400 plus bucks. I can’t find anyone willing to spend any money on gymnastics and I can’t afford the hotel alone so I will be staying home. I think I want Olympic trials so I will be saving for that plus I have an idea they might give worlds in 2015 to the US and I must go to that.

Anyone know when that will be announced?

If I had just won powerball I wouldn’t have to worry about damn Obama care.

    • exgymgurl Says:

GTT thats what I was thinking I mean for that… to get to go on the floor with Shannon… like holy moses… Im hoping some well off reader of your blog will buy it, because its an awesome cause, a great price and an awesome opportunity.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Its also a pretty good bid considering that tickets with Rascal flatts was at 1000 not that long ago.

  17. exgymgurl Says:

2015 has already been awarded to Glasgow Scotland

    • gymtruthteller Says:

      Well that

      • sainabou nyang Says:

Its not worlds but pan ams will be in Toronto in 2015. I was thinking of going to that. GTT since you live in Boston you could drive up and save on air fare.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Pan ams huh? I will have to look into that

      • exgymgurl Says:

You will probably see the fierce 5 at Pan Ams like in 2011 shawn johnson and Bridget sloan were relegated there… LOL

      • gymtruthteller Says:

It is only like 500 less to fly to

    • gymtruthteller Says:

How much does it cost to go to Scotland ???

I looked. Not bad 1700 for hotel and flight in 2013 October for almost two weeks. That is how much it would cost me in the US plus some. I wonder how much it would go up two years from there because I could totally do that

      • gymtruthteller Says:

never mind. It nearly doubles when it is only one person. Bummer.

Then when I want an entire week less it costs the same. What BS

      • exgymgurl Says:

Then I guess bid on Shannons experience?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

No I think spending that much on a usa-gym event would kill me inside. I am finding cheaper stuff for clasgow. I could probably pull this off with tix and hotel and plane for 2100. Very steep but if I talk my friends into travel hotel goes down by 600 bucks.

I have never traveled over seas though. Then again before 2003 I had only left the state once

      • Catherine Says:

Skyscanner it, you’re east coast so it’s easier than it could be. Though to get the cheapest flights you would probably have to fly NY- Dublin and then get a seriously cheap flight from there. It is less than an hour from Dublin, and will only cost about 30 euro. Sadly budget transatlantic flights are not really a thing, yet.

If I were you I’d consider Rio and watch out for worlds next quad. US are overdue one. Though I really love the fact that 2013 and 15 are in Europe and want them all to be, it is time you lot got one. Glasgow by the way is a great city, and very cheap too. You could stay in a Premier Inn or another chain and they are fantastically cheap.

      • Catherine Says:

Oh if you haven’t been to Europe then Glasgow is a great choice! Scotland itself is a very beautiful country and full of culture. Unfortunately it is known for miserable cold weather though. The accent is quite hard to understand..Groundskeeper Willie on the Simpsons is accurate enough for that. I’m looking forward to it as a destination for worlds moreso than Antwerp, really fun city and they speak English too..

If you want to stop by London we have an awesome guest room 🙂

      • Catherine Says:

She’s stopping by Dublin Gymbee! :p are you looking at going to those worlds?

      • mim Says:

scotland is the best! so worth the trip! 🙂

      • Gymbee Says:

I haven’t really thought about it, but now that you mention it Catherine, I think I might! 😀
Haha, but Glasgow is so close to London…. (not :-p) RyanAir a few years ago were advertising cheap flights to London (Prestwick). They claimed it was a mistake, but obviously it was a way of selling cheap tickets to “London”, not mentioning theres a 6+ hours train ride between the two haha.

      • Catherine Says:

You should! Here’s hoping for a 20 euro ryanair flight 🙂

I wonder if Geddert and Jordyn backed off of competing this year because of Gabby’s announcement that she is training again? Maybe they want to wait until she (Gabby) goes to camp or something to see if she is still in Marta’s good graces. Kind of like how Shawn was all excited about her comeback until Nastia announced hers. Jordyn sounded almost disappointed to not be competing this year like as if she wants to but can’t for some reason (not the reasons they are giving). Or maybe they are waiting to see what Ohashi does because they don’t want to risk a repeat of Chellsie vs Nastia in 2005 and getting Marta’s wrath for the rest of the quad

camp photo/name list for anyone who is interested:

L-R: Hundley, Ross, Maroney, Nichols, Price, Shchennikova, Dowell, Locklear, Baker, Priessman, Desch, Milliet, Skinner, Gowey, Dennis, Key, Hults, Gaskins, Quinn, Schild, Biles, Flatley, Vasquez

admittedly, i’ve not heard of gaskins, quinn or locklear before.

good to see chow’s girls there (especially norah and alexis, my gosh they are so adorably tiny compared to the others!) and that maddie desch is back.

but seriously what is going on with sarah finnegan? just how injured is she? i sort of get the feeling she might chuck in elite and focus on college now. and katelyn ohashi seems to be having a bit of a larissa iordache kinda experience thus far.

curious to see how mckayla fares too.

  20. exgymgurl Says:

Interesting that a lot of people arent there…. I wonder how Skinner felt seeing a Maroney vault???/

    • mimi Says:

maybe mykayla will reign in the cockiness a bit when she sees mckayla ha.

good motivation for all of them – mckayla seeing simone (especially simone!) and mykayla, simone and mykayla seeing mckayla. i daresay there will be some great vaulting at that camp!

*so many Ms and Ks and Ys in that comment lol.

      • Catherine Says:

Simone is not McKayla’s competition. She’s an all-arounder and a lock for worlds if healthy. McKayla’s competition consists of Skinner, Priessman and Ebee.

      • mimi Says:

true true, i guess i was thinking more from the perspective of who would be the first to compete the TTY! 🙂

    • sainabou nyang Says:

I know right. How ackward is it for skinner to see Mckayla the current world champ on vault considering that Skinner considers herself the best vaulter in the world.

      • Tortuga Says:

I don’t like her cocky attitude (Skinner). Has she even had any major competitions yet? It all just seems like hype right now till Classics. Kinda hope she gets knocked down a couple pegs to be honest. It’s great to be confident but she’s stepping on Gabby territory.
