Best Looking Male gymnast of all time

cute

Things are slow thanks to gymnastics being dead (at least until next weekend when we get Europeans) so I want everyone to add some “eye candy” to this blog to hold us over.

My contribution for now is the one and only Alexei Bondarenko. Enjoy:)

Idea for this blog is thanks to IceMeltsFast since she used the words, eye candy:)

Another picture of when he was cute. I am assuming he is still cute if we can find any recent pix:)

I am more of a baseball girl than gymnast girl. I need a real man:)

Philipp Boy is still the best but i’ll add Iordan iovtchev to this list since he aged so damn well.

    Nemov not bad either.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I never got the Nemov is cute vibe. He isn’t ugly but cute? don’t see it.

I always thought Ivan Ivankov was cute during the 90’s.

  2. exgymgurl Says:

Mitch Gaylord was dreamy in 84… LOL

  3. exgymgurl Says:

Bart Conner was not cute…. nor hot….. and he looks worse now with all the LIndsey Vonnesque Botox hes had

  4. exgymgurl Says:

I would have said Richard Henrikson who has been the top male norwegian gymnast for a while. And then I read this

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2220601/Heart-stopping-moment-man-plunges-cliff-edge-gymnastic-stunt-goes-horribly-wrong-caught-film.html

Which just proves he isnt very smart….

    • icemeltsfast Says:

He really isn’t smart at all. How did this guy become a surgeon

    • Gymbee Says:

He was a gymnast ages ago but never the best. Pretty crazy stunts!

      • exgymgurl Says:

He was in the 2008 olympics, so it wasnt ages ago, and hes really still the best Norway has… beats all the young kiddos… hes like the male chusovitna.

      • exgymgurl Says:

Okay Im stupid and thinking of Espen Jansen sorry…. 😉

      • Gymbee Says:

Oooh yeah Espen Jansen! He is crazy ripped. And he is the best yeah! And he’s 44. He’s in Moscow for the Europeans as a judge this time. (He got silver on p-bars last weekend though at some national competition).

    • H Says:

      Wait a moment!!!

      Be nice …

I was actually training with this guy when I was younger.

He was smart, fun and fun …

      • H Says:

I know … Norway is a smaaaaaaaal country

      • exgymgurl Says:

Yes Norway is a small country and being of Norwegian decent myself ( even born and raised in the states) I can appreciate the men. And their aquavit. And our whole sense of crazy fun….Norwegian gymnasts are the best….

      • H Says:

        :-):-):-)

You make me miss home … I am still living in Finland for the moment. But I am going to Norway for a couple of days, tomorrow. Do you know which part from Norway your family came from?

        Skål!

      • exgymgurl Says:

        Tronheim and Bergen…..

      • H Says:

        Funny, I am from Bergen.

      • Gymbee Says:

I am from Norway too, but I’ve lived abroad (Italy and UK) for the past 7 years 🙂
        I prefer brunettes though haha.

      • exgymgurl Says:

Hey if you ever get out to Texas I should take you out for a coffee… and to see Davy Crocketts sword at the Alamo

  5. aerial Says:

    Sexei Alexei Nemov.
Is the smooshy lips, bedroom eyes and genuine smile.
Though in person the average non-gymnast woman dwarfs these guys.

    • Gymbee Says:

Yes Alexei! And Marian Dragulescu isn’t bad!
Tell me about it, I met a bunch at a World Cup event in Stuttgart. None of them reached my shoulder.

  6. Sara Says:

Philipp Boy would be my number one choice, but I think Chris Brooks is kinda cute too? Other than that, I’ll take swimmers or baseball players. I can’t really get into the male gymnasts either.

  7. JAS4 Says:

I don’t find most male gymnast attractive although Epke Zonderland isn’t half bad just not my type lol

  8. Lyra Gill (@lygill) Says:

It’s Phillip for me, but Jake, Sam, and Marcel are pretty good-looking too!

    • Tortuga Says:

Marcel, Philipp, Zonderland and Jake Dalton. Oh la la la.

    • Short1 Says:

@Lyra Gill Those would be my top four as well, although I’m not sure I could decide which of them I think is the best looking.

This is probably a cop out, but:
Best looking U.S. male gymnast: Jake.
Best looking non-U.S. male gymnast: Marcel.

  9. gigi Says:

Meh. But I’m partial to brunettes.

  10. Gymbee Says:

    How about:

    Gervasio Deferr
    Ivan Ivankov

  11. Formergymgirl Says:

GTT we have the same taste! I used to think Ivankov was cute. In fact I met him once and have a picture of him and me. He was so tiny. I also think Dragulescu has a certain something…

  12. Uglyfatkid Says:

Oh hell GTT…new topic please!!! LOL. 🙂 Straight males have nothing to contribute on this topic of conversation. Ha ha.

    • Catherine Says:

Ah sure pick a female. Not really as easy since there was decades of dodgy hair and very young babyfaced gymnasts..Dorina Boczogo I think is stunning though. And Phan Thi ha Thanh.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

You can think a guy is good looking. I think a few gymnasts are pretty.lol

      • Uglyfatkid Says:

Okay, I agree there GTT But I wouldn’t go as far as “eye candy.”

I remember being 12 at the 1996 Olympics and thinking Moceanu was cute. Lol.

It really only find the older gymnasts cute now. I think Ponor looks better now than she did in 2004. ASac is cute, but not a bombshell or anything.

I also think Izbasa in the vault final last year looked really pretty. Oh…and the Russian girl who took 3rd at that same final (i think her name was Maria) was quite striking too for a younger gymnast as well.

Those are the only the recent gymnasts I can think of at the moment. They are all cute, but in the end not my cup if tea. I appreciate the gymnastics more than the physical beauty in the end.

Ohhhh, and Strug and Nastia of course. They are at the top of my list.

      • icemeltsfast Says:

Sandra is prettier with her hair dyed blonde lol.

  13. icemeltsfast Says:

How are baseball players more masculine than gymnasts!?

    • Catherine Says:

Taller? Baseball players don’t even seem athletic to me. Now hurling players…tall, extremely athletic and fit and not even motivated by money. Yum.

      • icemeltsfast Says:

Yeah I always thought baseball players were the least athletic of all the athletes… they need to sprint fast yet their bodies are no where near those of sprinters’ like Bolt’s, Tyson’s, etc..

Is it bad that I’ve never heard of hurling? =P

      • byrdisthewyrd Says:

Yes Catherine, please tell us more about these hurlers you speak of.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Curling or hurling? I thought hurling was something you do in the toilet after one too many tequila shots. 🙂

      • Gymbee Says:

I was volunteering at the Olympics during the track and field. One of my tasks was “babysitting” the decathletes between their events, and ooooh my.
They have to be good at so many things, sprinting, throwing, jumping… perfect bodies, SO hot haha. Tall, broad shouldered and muscular, while still light enough to do high jump. I didn’t mind my long shifts lol.

      • icemeltsfast Says:

LOL I just googled it- . It’s looks like field hockey except you’re using this wooden paddle thing to smack the ball.

Eh, i don’t know, peoples. Gymnasts are still the most fit athletes to me- strength + endurance here. However, I’m more into soccer players because, as Catherine pointed out.. MAG are all much too short. =)

      • icemeltsfast Says:

lol Gymbee that’s hilarious! Volunteering = good karma haha. Could you choose which event you volunteer for??

      • Catherine Says:

Haha no it’s not bad, it’s one of our national sports and is a huge deal here and while it is played fairly extensively in the USA, Australia and the UK- it gets like no exposure or TV time there, so you wouldn’t hear about it unless you stumbled across it.

Actually, hockey was developed from hurling!

It also bears similarities to lacrosse. In hurling the pitch is absolutely enormous, much bigger than a soccer pitch so these guys are superfit, as the ball travels really fast too. It’s quite skillful (tackling, balancing the ball on the hurl etc.) and very exciting as there can be LOADS of scores, games like 5 goals per team and a whole load of points (the goals have upright posts and if you get the ball between the uprights then that’s a point, worth 1/3 of a goal). The best thing is that it’s an amateur sport- they are all teachers, plumbers etc. who get no money from play, except the very very few who get very small endorsements. There’s never any bad feeling at matches, amazing atmosphere. Seriously if you’re in Ireland May-September you should try to get to a match.

ANYWAY..the main point is, serious athleticism going on in the sport without the shortness that gymnastics brings AND while there is a little ego or two it’s nothing major as they’re not getting money to turn into dickheads. So potential hotness is not spoiled. Soccer players are big victims of gigantic supersized egos and general asshole behaviour, so it’s great that hurling is not tainted by this. I’ve never really heard that as slang for getting sick ha. We just say..getting sick!

      • Gymbee Says:

Icemeltsfast, I could put down my top 3 🙂 in the en I chose athletics, cause I thought I’d get too starstruck at the gymnastics/ I was scared I’d get stuck in final call or something so I wouldn’t get to see gymnastics.
At the athletics I was working in final call a lot, and I did get plenty starstruck when Usain Bolt smiled at me lol!

  14. terrigymfan Says:

Male gymnasts have never really been my cup of tea although of course they have great bodies.

I think Adam Scott, the golfer who just won the Masters, is really cute.

  15. Tortuga Says:

GTT I heard there was an explosion possibly 2 at the Boston Marathon. Everything alright in your neck of the woods?

    • sanitynmotion Says:

I’m seriously starting to feel like humanity is going down the drain. What is wrong with people?!?!

I hope everyone is OK – GTT please tell me you’re not a secret marathoner…

      • icemeltsfast Says:

I know right? This type of thing is really unnecessary and getting kinda old. I love marathons and now I will have this fear in the back of my mind going into them. So dumb. I can’t imagine what it’s like for the ones who were actually there.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

It really is. Sad to say I can’t go into a movie theatre without thinking twice. When I have a child I will be not so enthusiastic about sending him/her to school every day, thinking all it takes is one deranged idiot with a careless mom who has a passion for guns. I also am just in general fearful of super crowded places anymore. Stadiums, subway terminals during rush hour, Disneyland, sh*t even grocery stores the Sunday before Thanksgiving or the malls during December and January.

I made a joke today like “this just re-enforces the fact I need to stick to water sports” and I realize it was highly insensitive – that’s just my natural reaction to horrifying stories; make a stupid joke. I realize like 2 seconds later how bone headed it was but it’s not like I’m flexible enough to literally stick my foot in my mouth. But bombs still go off in water so that comment made no sense. I’ll probably get fired since I said it in front of my boss. I’m just shocked by it all to be honest but how sad will it be when the day comes that I’m no longer shocked? And when that day happens how long before it really does involve me or my family/loved ones?

      • Tortuga Says:

This is kind of sad to say but I don’t feel like I need a gun for safety and I’m not going to hold myself back from things I love. I’m still going to go to a movie or sporting event and enjoy my life. What happens happens. Not in a “I’m okay with that mode.” But I just can’t hold back in fear way. If I had children and a family I would definitely see things differently. I hope that if I ever have children I hope I can protect them and they don’t experience things like this.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I get you and I feel the same way. I just can’t help now to have that dialogue in the back of my head. (Like, oh gosh – there’s going to be 20,000 people there – what if something bad happens?!)

      • icemeltsfast Says:

Living really is a risk. I’d say it’s riskier when you’re in an urban/metropolian area like Boston, SF, NY, LA, etc… somewhere fun and actually worth living (IMO). Random fact: I once googled the safest place to live (in terms of natural disasters & not so much unnatural threats like bombing..) and it was like the Hamptons or Martha’s Vineyard or something lol.

haha you’re right- bombings can happen anywhere so idk if swimming is the solution unless this person has a vengeance for runners. But it’s okay- stupid things come out of my mouth all the time. My life would be easier if it’s not socially awkward to pause and think before firing back responses. lol I am the type who thinks of “brilliant” comebacks to conversations that happens hours before.

      • GymMom Says:

Why in the hell were they conducting bomb drills close to the Boston Marathon today? Many runners reported hearing announcements on the loudspeaker about the drills.

It makes this tragedy even more bizarre. There were bomb-sniffing dogs around related to the drills. Why didn’t they respond to the backpacks containing the bombs that killed 2 & injured many others??? A “person of interest” is being held at the hospital. That person was seen bringing in several backpacks into the area around the finish line. No security sweeps????

        Very tragic!

      • Gymbee Says:

I was really scared before the Olympics, especially since the days before, as a test, the organisers managed to get dummy bombs into the olympic park. I was going to be in the park everyday. But then I thought, I am not going to let fear stand in the way of cool stuff. The alternative, never going out again, wouldn’t be a nice way to live.

      • Tortuga Says:

I’m not able to comment under Gym Mom’s comment directly so hopefully she will see this. I know there were also test drills being run on the day of London subway bombing as well as 9/11. Conspiracy theorists believe it’s an obvious sign that the govt is behind it. So do you know for a fact that there were bomb drills today?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

They have been reporting all day there were bomb drills on the Boston news but as for actual proof, no.

It seems like a stupid day to do such a thing but than I think it makes more sense to do this when there are a lot of people.

    • Tortuga Says:

I’m sure it’s really chaotic there right now. Or maybe she doesn’t have internet access at the moment. Hope anyone in Boston is alright!

      • Karlie Says:

Stunned. I am a resident of the Newtown area and I was still in disbelief from December’s events – I am waiting to hear that my best friend (who was running) is okay. I can’t believe it. GTT, I hope you and your family are alright as well.

We all deal with grief in different ways. But I do agree that we should hold off of speculation until further details have been revealed.

  16. exgymgurl Says:

#prayforboston I think GTT is probably at work. Dont worry I’m sure we will hear 🙂

  17. sainabou nyang Says:

Well looks like it’s confirmed. Russia is recycling its old gymnasts. Also some rumor about some friction between musty and alexandrov.

  18. mim Says:

just woke up to the news of boston bombs,
    are you okay GTT?????
