The leotard looks blue to me but people keep calling it purple. What do you think?

According to Aly. Guess Mckayla is too busy:)

Mag 7 vs Miracle on Ice.

and in non related news that should make me ill it kind of makes me laugh.

Ray J, women are people too but these lyrics are too damn funny.

I would make a very bad feminist.lol

“She might move on to rappers and ballplayers/But we all know I hit it first/I had her head going North and her a– going South/But now baby chose to go West/No matter where she goes or who she knows/She still belongs in my bed.”

Ohhh I’m diggin’ that leo. I wish it was more blue than purple, but it’s Not Pink, so I’m not mad at it. Nice vault too; feet a smidge crossed in the air but mostly pretty.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

She had some leg separation at the end which seems to be the way everyone vaults these days. Some knee’s too and a little piked at the end.

      • macstabby Says:

I said MOSTLY.😉 Relative to the form for Aly, Nabs, and Musty, it was flippin’ gorgeous.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Then I guess mentioning the flat feet would be too much:)

      • macstabby Says:

Let’s just focus on how great the leo is, shall we?😀

      • gymtruthteller Says:

What fun is that. I am the critical one remember? I judge because I can’t. Its like being a drama teacher.lol

      • Biyatch Says:

Aly actually managed a super clean DTY, even managing to actually point her toes and keep her legs straight. Its just when she added the extra half twist that it all went to hell.

  2. Lithi Says:

Sorry. I like the Mag 7, but up against arguably the greatest moment in American sporting history? Nope.

  3. icemeltsfast Says:

I’m still trying to figure out how Huang Qiushuang went from an Amanar in training to a FTY here…………….. she should be leading this, really.

    • Catherine Says:

Well I don’t think she’ll go all out until the national games, and she’s probably thinking of slowing down towards retirement anwyay. I think she’ll crank out a DTY at some stage, word is she’s not in shape yet.

      • icemeltsfast Says:

She’s had a DTY since at least 2009, hasn’t experienced any significant changes in weight or height since London, no reported injuries…….. what is going on lol

      • icemeltsfast Says:

On another note, she’s wearing her 2011 World’s green/orange leo. Cute. lol, and Peyton’s leo is blue up close but looks more purple at a distance.

    • exgymgurl Says:

Isnt she like 13 ??? Thats way too old totally ready for retirement… He Xexin vaultx better than that… hello anyone with a decent DTY would be winning. It looks like half of them fell on barx

      • Catherine Says:

We’ve been watching her splat for years, she’s definitely 20/21. She looks her age more than some of the rest, depends on where they are from and their ethnic background and if they have hit 18 yet. I can see the Shang Chunsong and Zeng Siqi outrage now if either appear at Rio.

Asuka Teramoto wins! Delighted. She must have really stepped up since American cup on more than just vault, especially if Peyton did not count a fall. Shang has a 1.5 to triple twist- punchfront! Gutted she counted a fall on bars.

      • exgymgurl Says:

Peyton fell on beam on dismount..

      • icemeltsfast Says:

I didnt think Asuka would ever be an AA threat but she proved me wrong. i like her beam and fx presentation. and Eh, Shang seems to fall from bars a lot. Maybe she needs to downgrade and work up to those million releases.

It will be stupid if there’s another age controversy. Both girls you mentioned were eligible for London. I think there are only age accusations if they do well. If there’s a splatfest like this time, nobody really gives. (:

      • Catherine Says:

Ah there was a lot of crap about Deng Linlin being 12 from people watching gymnastics for the first time. Yep, and 8 in Beijing- amazing! But yeah that was an old team for them and they were not as exposed or as broadcast anyway.

Shang’s first pass on floor is as difficult as Aly Raisman’s. She has a full in too, a very good beam and crazy bars. She’ll have to get a better vault of course. There’s something weird about her line on bars, she seems awkward with turns as well. Will need to clean up. Tan Jiaxin and SCS make me miss He Kexin’s lines even though both are more flighty and their routines are more jam packed and exciting.

Asuka has really improved since scam, I was afraid her mediocre performance there might not be temporary. She is so lovely to watch.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Are there any videos, does anyone know? I’d be curious to check out this Shang gal.

      • icemeltsfast Says:

Sanity, go to chinesegymnastics.tumblr.com unless you have an IGF account. You can’t view them on an iphone bc they require flash. But here’s a youtube video of her beam, which I liked the most since she has terrible choreo on floor and problematic bars. http://youtu.be/jGeheSYDMW0

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Tumblr, duh – thank you! I will check this out.

  4. Catherine Says:

Shang Chunsong could be a decent all-arounder, she’s great on bars- 6.7 potential, but fell here on an impossible routine- Piked Hindorff- Pak, Maloney-Hindorff, Tkachev-Geinger all will be connected, she didn’t connect the first one. She’s still so slight that it will take a while for her difficulty elsewhere to catch up.

Elisa is a new senior. She needs major upgrades, but she could be very useful. I think she will be surpassed by Enus Mariani when she turns senior though.

Asuka having a DTY now despite her miniscule frame is very interesting. She’s strong on the other 3 events. If she cleans up a little she could break top 5-7 at worlds easily. Charlie is there for experience, another new senior, and Yu Minobe I think is on the way to retirement? She replaced Ferrari.

The comp tomorrow starts at 6AM my time. Ughhh, not happening. 1AM ET and 10PM PST if anyone wants to catch the livestream.

  5. sanitynmotion Says:

I love the leo too. It would be nice to have been oh, say any color representing the American flag but I know that’s expecting too much. As long as it’s not hot pink.

Peyton’s vault was meh for a DTY. I think I’m being spoiled by all the amanars because given the plenitude of those in the US, I would expect anyone competing a DTY would have an almost perfect one. Her feet were flat and she seemed to pike a bit towards the end. Also the leg separation at the end and the bent knees. It was great at first but then started to come apart. I’d be really scared if this girl were ever to attempt an amanar.

And is it just me or does she really need to pluck those eyebrows? Closest to her nose – maybe it’s just me.

    • Biyatch Says:

OMG I noticed the eyebrow thing too, especially on the pic that kim zmeskal posted on twitter. The US had eyebrow problems at the Olympics too (aka Jordyn). But at least Peyton’s just need some hard core shaping as opposed to Jordyn’s that were OCD overplucked.

    • macstabby Says:

Awww she’s just 13! Let her have her awkward brows for a bit until she decides to manically overpluck them and then needs to pencil them in!

  6. exgymgurl Says:

Okay Im only going to say this once… because Ive bagged on her so much the past two years but really Shayla where were you the last two years??? I mean youve actually put together 3-4 decent meets in a row now….Yeah gymdogs and they qualify into the afternoon session with FL, LSU and three other schools (Minnesota, Stanford and Illinois) that no one cares about so they should make super 6 for the first time in three years….. So Shayla would get her first crack at the super 6,,,,,

The other session is UCLA, Michigan, Oklahoma, Alabama, Utah Arkansas which is scary because short of Oklahoma and Alabama, none of those teams are locks and on any given day any of the other four could make it.

This gymdog fan has not been this happy since Courney Kupets last strapped on her oversized grips. So To Chelsea D, Lindsey Cheek, Wogette Christa Tanella, Shayla, Noel Couch, Brandie Jay, Brittany Rogers, Kaylan Earls, Cat Hires,

Though I do think Rhonda Faehn, Macko, Kytra, Sloan, Bridgey (scored a 9.925 on floor finally), Marissa King the british gymnast, Alaina Johnson, Ashanee, and a few other people will win the NCAA title for the first time in school history. It says a lot that Alania is back when she could have redshirted and added an extra .075 tonight for her team.

I like Oklahoma but they are kind of a snooze fest and Bart Conner sounds like he has Alzheimers, or Nadia has only taught him about womens gymnastics in Romanian.

I dont see Bama pulling out a third in a row championship with Stack Eaton graduated. Priess is having another great year, but with Gutierrez injured and Sledge out no one has stepped up.

UCLA is just sad. Its like Zam and a few other people. Mattie and Sam are both out, and I just dont see everyone else stepping up enough.

I wish that Michigan and LSU had more than one decent person on their teams. And everyone will be talking about Llominca Hall’s floor routine. If you havent seen it google it. Im sure ESPN will want LSU making the super 6 just to show that routine a million times…

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Literally Googled Llaminica Hall floor and all I got was a link to this blog!

      • gymtruthteller Says:

That is sad. Her floor routine is not a fave of mine.lol Girl can tumble and she seems like a very happy person so she deserves her name to be googled for something positive. Maybe I will make her a positive blog if she wins the floor title at Nationals

  7. JAS4 Says:

I’m going to say the Leo is indigo lol

  8. exgymgurl Says:

Peyton ernst falls on beam dismount and ends up second….

  9. GymMom Says:

    Chow’s next Olympic champion…Rachel Gowey?
