More tour videos

There are no new injuries yet but it is only a matter of time.

Watch this video and look for Rebecca Bross. She literally does a pass and has to be stopped by her tour mates because she is so out of control she is about to fly off the mat.

This cannot be safe at all. The first time she does it someone stops her and they looked shocked to see her flying toward them.

There are a couple of out of control tumbling passes and while I know gymnasts do not want to stick a landing on a tour the way they are out of control cannot be safe. Not for them or the other tour members looking the other way concentrating on what they are supposed to be.

I don’t know what this is but it is hilariously bad.

It looks like they have more professional dancers then gymnasts.

Kyla interview from today.

  1. Case Says:

Rebecca Bross is bound and determined to kill herself doing gymnastics. Someone pleeeease save that girl from herself.

Otherwise that tumbling sequence actually looks like one of the safer parts of the show because of the pile of castmates/spotters at every corner.

  2. JAS4 Says:

What is it with Nastia coming down from the ceiling and having everyone bow to her or whatever it is they’re doing it’s just plain weird lol

    • nero Says:

That’s not Nastia it’s Mary Sanders. IDK why everyone ALWAYS complains about the tour. It’s for kids and tweens, of course it’s going to be cheesy. At least this one they’re doing actual gymnastics skills. All the gymnasts seem to like it and it’s a fun way to unwind after being under so much stress the last few months

  3. mim Says:

the whole thing looks like a badly choreographed, hot mess.

i can just imagine the russians sitting back watching these videos and pissing themselves laughing at the ridiculousness of it all. much like i am admittedly.

  4. GymMom Says:

Here’s the latest desperate attempt by Kellogg’s to downplay aka blatantly lie about the recent injuries. Stating that all of the Fierce Five will be performing at the Staples Center Saturday???

    • Gymnerd Says:

It’s very cleverly worded – ” Redfoo of LMFAO will make a guest appearance for the Party Rock routine that features most of the cast, including members of the 2012 Olympic Team and The Fierce Five” and “The star-studded cast includes members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team – The Fierce Five (Gabrielle Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Alexandra Raisman, Kyla Ross and Jordyn Wieber)….” It’s the “members of” that they can fall back on if not ALL the members are able to perform – “We didn’t say the Fierce Five! We said MEMBERS OF…..the Fierce Five!”

That, or they’ll have McKayla & Aly come out and wave their arms or something, and call that their “performance.”

Don’t think I’ll be going this year.

    • david0688 Says:

Well, Aly seems to be fine since she’s back with her teammates and doing some “girl talk” according Anna Li.

  5. MacStabby Says:

Oh my god, what a shitshow.

  6. sainabou nyang Says:

Judging from her twitter page Rebecca seems to be having more fun on this tour thab when she was competing in meets.

  7. Case Says:

Rita Wieber posted a new blog entry and it makes me happy for Jordyn.

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Really puts things in perspective. We can sit here and demand from our office chairs that they all go back to gymnastics right away to resume training to get the next title, but she’s right – they deserve this time to relax and be “celebrities” for awhile. I guess in a few months we’ll see what these gymnasts “really” plan on doing with the rest of their lives. I guess after the tour if they don’t resume training they’re probably ready to call it quits. I guess I can’t blame them given the years and years of sacrifice they’ve had to make. It’s really sad at the end of the day for the girls that “didn’t” make an Olympic team (Bross) – imagine the many sob stories out there for the five “success” stories of this current crop.

      • Case Says:

That’s the thing that gets me. Aren’t there like 70-80 elites (not sure on exact number)? All of those girls are logging insane training hours and making huge sacrifices for the chance of being one of five Olympians. That road is littered with tons of broken dreams.

Also, I see Rita commented on tour safety in the comments below her blog post. I’m glad she at least inquired about it.

      • terrigymfan Says:

Do you think that was the “real” Olga Korbut who asked Rita the question about safety on the tour?

    • Kazic Says:

Also case, Jo says she’s satisfied with the safely level of the tour. Makes me feel a little better about it.

I don’t have an issue with these hard working athletes taking a “victory” lap as it were. I just wish there was a slightly more dignified way in which they could do it. The Russians did interviews, both state run ones and just regular tv interviews, and are already back to training.

I’m not saying that they have to act like machines. I just wish their was a middle ground.

  8. sanitynmotion Says:

I can’t even get through the tour videos they are so bad.

  9. GymMom Says:

These tours are fine but too long. Actually the tour probably interferes with the Olympians “celebrity” appearances. Also, these elite athletes are used to certain safety measures put in place, which aren’t required outside of competitive gymnastics. That danger, along with the multitude of other distractions combined with lack of sleep & poor eating puts all of the performers at risk. From my perspective, it’s not a risk worth taking.

  10. GymMom Says:

McKayla just tweeted this photo and mentioned that she just woke up from surgery.

    • JAS4 Says:

I saw that too I didn’t know she was having surgery

    • sanitynmotion Says:

They’re being oddly silent about McKayla’s status. If she broke her leg why would that require surgery? I have a bad feeling she tore a ligament or something else as well. Not good. I hope they are consulting lawyers.

      • GymMom Says:

Because the tibia is a long bone, other injuries can occur as a result. If there was displacement, surgery would be required that could include screws/plate etc, but no cast. The recovery time is around 2-3 months during which crutches are necessary. There can be temporary atrophy, among other things. It’s sad this happened unnecessarily.

      • JAS4 Says:

Didn’t McKayla already have a stress fracture there? So did she just make it worse or was it on the opposite leg?

      • Catherine Says:

She had a stress fracture on the fibula, then when trying to avoid bearing her weight on it on the landing caused the fracture in her tibia.

  11. sainabou nyang Says:

So I watched the big brother episode with fab 5. Mckayla was flirting with Shane. When he asked who their favorite was she said you. The look she was giving him made me think this girl is going to be a heartbreaker when she gets older. Gabby is now going by Gabrielle. Everyone else was a little ackward. Then Shane asked if the won any other medals and Gabby says”Yeah I won the AA. Ovetall I think the two BB houseguests were just happy to get out of the house.

    • nero Says:

I was SO confused. BB is happening right now right? How long have they been in the house, did they not get to watch the Olympics? Because all the girls were explaining they won, who they beat how many medals they won. And Mckayla sounded like she was talking to a 3rd grader about ‘The Face’ Then when they got back to the house they told the other people in the house who they met and basically had to spell out that the gymnastics team won the team gold.

I know most people don’t obsess over gymnastics like us, but it’s pretty common knowledge that they won and Mckayla’s ‘not impressed’ face was one of the biggest things to come out of the Olympics

      • sainabou nyang Says:

I love BB although Amazon Race is my favorite, but this luxury prize sucked. I think they told the house guestd about the games but I dont think they cared.

    • mim Says:

yeah it would be nice is mckayla shared her confidence around with the rest of us haha.

  12. brainy Says:

    …some idle, BS, gossipy rumor-mongering….

    • lol Says:

Sounds like mckayla but in reality gabby is the ego

      • Catherine Says:

What’s interesting is that it says gold medals plural..which means it has to be Gabby or Aly. Unless they just made a mistake. LOL at the person who thinks it’s Jordyn or ‘the one standing next to Gabby’ because ‘she cried because she didn’t win an indivudal medal she thought she was the best on the team’. ARGHHH

  13. JAS4 Says:

    Article about McKayla’s surgery

  14. mim Says:

jordyn got the olympic ring tattoos!

    • nero Says:

I really like it, does it say London underneath the rings? Jo having a tattoo in a ‘visible’ area is not a big deal, it’s probably a pretty cool reminder every time she looks at it

I got mine at 18 with my best friend on the top of my foot. The only thing my dad said when I came home was ‘At least you can cover it’

    • DL Says:

Relief–it’s not hideous like Geddert’s tat.

    • mim Says:

      i agree, it’s nice and subtle 🙂

  15. GymMom Says:

Alot of interesting info on USA Gymnastics Facebook page. Apparently Alicia S has left the Kelliggs Tour and is done with gymnastics? There are some posts & comments from irate ticket holders regarding Gabby leaving the tour at the halfway point & of course McKayla’s being out due to injury etc. Nothing official on the page about McKayla’s surgery. Some people have commented but nothing official. Pretty shady way to conduct business by Kelloggs.

  16. GymMom Says:

Wow…this interview with Gabby is unreal. Ah or Uh every other word. And she refers to herself as “America’s Sweetheart?” I can’t stand her arrogance. I’m guessing the other people in the group on tour are sick & tired of her? They’re probably “bullying” her? Yeah right! This girl had issues. Shawn J was annoying but not until at least a year or more, after she did DWTS. And even now, Shawn is tolerable.

Gabby’s way of talking with the shoulder shrug etc makes my skin crawl.

    • GymMom Says:

It should read….this girl HAS issues, not HAD issues.

    • Catherine Says:

That is unbearable. She should have said she was bowled over and flattered to be given such a title. It doesn’t ‘sit well’ to hear her or anyone basically say ‘yup that’s me, down to the ground. I am totally awesome and fully deserving of such a title’

    • sanitynmotion Says:

She’s been told by the media she’s America’s Sweetheart. She has no clue. Neither do the media.

      • Dee Says:

The media is trying their asses off to make her Americas Sweetheart, but every time she opens her mouth, it is apparent why she is not.

    • Gymnerd Says:

Oh. My. God. That interview was UNBELIEVABLE. I had to look twice to be sure it wasn’t some NL parody or something. WHO proclaims themselves America’s sweetheart? Wow, just wow. Her agent needs to get her some humility training YESTERDAY.

  17. Catherine Says:

I just watched a Make it or Break it “2011 worlds” routine and it looked EXACTLY like the tour…lighting, spotlights..uncanny.

    • GymMom Says:

Check out Aly’s Twitter feed. Someone tweeted a photo of the “Forlorn Four” on those Olympic Rings…standing up so it’s not as obvious that McKayla is missing.

  18. JAS4 Says:

    Shawn on the tour

    • GymMom Says:

Shawn is only going to make an appearance with Derek her DWTS partner to promote that show.

    • Guest Says:

ABC and Entertainment media have already been advertising DWTS all stars day-to-day. Most of gym fans especially in LA should know that. I don’t think Shawn has the purpose and necessity to “promote” it in the tour.

  19. Catherine Says:

Ooo Nastia sent McKayla some sort of bouquet thing..the flowers look like those cakepop things. Nice of her..I think if McKayla had similar stuff from the others she’d tweet the whole lot, so it does stand out like this anyway..
