Day 3 finals

I think I speak for everyone when I say, THANK GOD THIS OLYMPICS IS OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and one more thing, I can’t find a picture of the gold medalists on floor from the podium. Can anyone help?

Sui Lu looks so sad. She has been so underscored all Olympics. This sucks. I am happy for Deng and Aly and it sucks for Ponor and it sucks for the judges because THEY CAN’T DO THEIR JOB. How do you miss start value when that is your ONLY JOB?

I didn’t watch, I was asleep and now I have to watch NBC tonight. I hope this doesn’t cost Aly the floor gold medal because judges can be pissy.

Deng and Sui look miserable.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
FABIAN, I am so glad he won a medal again. The guy from the Netherlands is cute but his form is atrocious. I really feel the first Chinese guy was robbed. His execution was so much better and his start value was a 7.7. I get adding difficulty but if you can’t perform it cleanly it should not be rewarded.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Yay Aly but seriously the medal winners have some of the ugliest triple fulls ever seen.

Izbasa seems fine with her fall I am sure she knew her best chance was for second and Mustafina wins third with a stupid tie breaking rule that makes no sense. I get tie breaking rules, even get why they are used but they make little sense.

I feel really bad for Jordyn. From star to only team gold medal pretty much sucks but how about my home girl Aly Raisman with the most medals of anyone from the US in gymnastics. The girl is set in Boston. Big sports town.

I am scared to watch the news tonight. Aly will own channel seven. I can watch her family and summer home neighbors react to her gold AGAIN:)

Do you realize minus the tie rule Aly would have 4 MEDALS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder how Alicia feels with Aly having the Olympics she wishes she had?

Aly was overscored but come on, so was Ponor. In event finals all that matters to me is placement and the placements were right. I see people debating the bronze for Mustafina but when not nit picking every little thing I have no problem with it. Ferrari was low on her double double landing and Mustafina took small steps on two passes.

I wonder if Yahoo will take the 3 pictures they have of Gabby off their front page now. The lead headline from yahoo was, Did Gabby take gold again for bars finals. The news people are such idiots in this Country.lol but anything for clicks.

Gabby making excuses for her mistakes. It might be hard to get your shit together but if you had no thought of giving it your all than you should have given Kyla the chance at a beam medal.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cutest thing you will ever see. Now this is cute. Rest of you need eyes.
I read somewhere that floor finals had their own day but now I have read that all the events left will be tomorrow. No clue which is true.
Here is your start lists via I forget. I just stole them from somewhere:)
BB
1. Sui Lu
2. Catalina Ponor
3. Deng Linlin
4. Diana Builimar
5. Ksenia Afanasyeva
6. Gabby Douglas
7. Viktoria Komova
8. Aly Raisman
FX
1. Ksenia Afanasyeva
2. Jordyn Wieber
3. Aly Raisman
4. Catalina Ponor
5. Lauren Mitchell
6. Vanessa Ferrari
7. Aliya Mustafina
8. Sandra Izbasa
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

lets give some street credit to my city Boston for being a real sports town. Not sure how long this will be up but a picture of our UB medalists minus an American is the cover page on the internet sports page of one of our newspapers.

That is right, Bean town is a real sports town and don’t you forget it. Just forget the basketball trolls exist.

Beth is not retiring yet , yay

Women’s bar finals article where Gabby starts the excuses for not hitting. Nastia number 2.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Geddert posted this than deleted it. I got it off facebook. The only whining here is you Geddert. His hatred of Komova is kind of creepy
badattitude_geddert
I hate you Belu. Diana Builimar is not your damn puppet. Stop screwing her over for your pet.
  1. JAS4 Says:
    They are doing the rest of the EFs tomorrow I think they start at 9am EST but I will see if I can find out exactly what time each event starts
  2. The Dude Says:
    Got a bad feeling about Aly and Jordyn. 😦 Think Maroney is just the beginning of the Fab Five downfall. Gabby kind of confirmed that today.
    • gymtruthteller Says:
      If it didn’t happen this way how could Gabby follow in the footsteps of Nastia and tell us every time we talk about gymnastics, “at least I have the gold AA medal which is what I wanted anyway” 🙂 Isn’t that standard excuses these days when we don’t win:)
      • The Dude Says:
        All I can say is that Aly better just do her balls-to-the-wall opening pass if she wants to medal. No more watering down, lady. This is it. And she always seems to stay in no matter how many times she lands out of bounds. Didn’t she learn that before?
        I still don’t like this feeling I have though. Want her to win very badly
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        Who the hell made her water down in the AA. She hits that thing cold every time.
        It is almost like Marta wants Gabby to get all the credit at this competition. It is starting to piss me off.
      • The Dude Says:
        I mean, staying in bounds for competition when out of bounds for warmup
  3. sanitynmotion Says:
    This is set up…again….for izbasa to win. USA will be lucky to get a bronze on floor.
    • gymtruthteller Says:
      I don’t think so. Isbaza got her gold on vault. I agree you might have been right before Mckayla fell but now it is wide open.
      I just read an article at a Boston paper where Gabby said she knew if she hit the best she was getting was forth. Let the excuses begin
      • sanitynmotion Says:
        Oh funny about Gabby. Not surprised.
        Why is Geddert a tool? I stopped paying attention to him after the AA. Just curious.
        I really hate how fixed this sport is. That McKayla had to fall for her teammates to have a chance.
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        He tweeted something about the whining at the UB finals but deleted it. Someone saved it and I did too. I will upload the picture for you.
      • sainabou nyang Says:
        Also sanity hes crying about the vault judges and how they underscored mckayla. Says they should have rewarded perfection or something like that. I liked before the Olympics but now hes getting annoying.
      • sanitynmotion Says:
        Sounds like he should be taking some pointers from his own athlete!
        What are ppl saying about McKayla? That she sucks now or her hair sucks or something?
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        She was trending on yahoo yesterday. I think if she had won gold she might be the star and I won’t tell you how many perverts searched this blog for Mckayla’s ass. Sarah would be so proud.lol
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        Perfection doesn’t land on your ass
      • sainabou nyang Says:
        Besides the usual BS and disgusting comments about her looks, etc… that sadly are coming from adults, one argument I read is that this like Cheng fei sitting her vault in Beijing. Another is the this is why she should have have made the team arguement .
      • sainabou nyang Says:
        Correection why she should have never made the team.
        i alsi noticed the number of pervos asking mckayla and Jordyn for a date. I hope they dont get a creepy stalker like shawn did.
      • Catherine Says:
        OMG, third highest search term for my blog is ‘mckayla maroney slut’. Also high numbers for slutty, whore, butt, ass and ‘is mckayla maroney a slut’. Drives me mental.
      • Gymbee Says:
        Haven’t read any of that. What’s wrong with her looks? I think she’s pretty?
      • sainabou nyang Says:
        The craziest stuff like she looks like the grinch , did she have plastic surgery, and what catherin said that she’s a slut who will get knocked up.
        Then you have the sex offenders trying to date mckayla and Jordyn.
    • Catherine Says:
      I don’t see how Izbasa was set up to win vault, nobody greased the vault before Maroney’s Mustafina. Maroney had an 0.5 lead on her in qualification, and she gave 0.5 away with the fall (when averaged) and another 0.3 for landing OOB. Amazing that she would have won without the OOB by an 0.2!
      If Aly does her full first pass I think she’ll take bronze. That pass deserves to be seen at the Olympics anyway. But Afan, Ferrari, Ponor and Izbasa are really tough so just like today, thisfinal is quite wide open..except for Musty and Mitchell who are well outside medals. Jordyn too, I don’t see her up there.
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        That isn’t what I said. I said she won vault so Romania got their gold medal. That is why her floor gold is not set in stone.
  4. Exgymgurl Says:
    So now gabby is psychic? So if a medal isn’t possible just make a major mistake rather than admit your best isn’t good enough…gee I’m glad Izbasa thought that on vault as this goes on the only good thing is that after a massive fall on beam tomorrow we probably never have to watch gabby compete internationally again
    • gymtruthteller Says:
      I think she needs to give her beam spot up to Kyla. I bet Kyla doesn’t feel that way.
      I posted the article in the beam, floor finals blog
      • Exgymgurl Says:
        oh you know gabby would rather go out ” exhausted ” with a fall and 2 minutes of additional TV time then let Kyla dilute her earnings with a medal
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        I hate saying this out loud so I don’t jinx it but what would it say about Gabby the AA winner if she won no individual medals at all and left this Olympics with two golds for team and AA. I don’t think we have ever had an Olympic AA champion not come away with a medal at all during the event finals.
      • Exgymgurl Says:
        She won’t medal on beam and you’re partly right… Our pal Carly dingdong won no event medals after winning all around…. Like I said maybe gabby will become a singer and dancer
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        Carly won a beam medal
      • Catherine Says:
        It would say strong all-around but not exceptional. Nastia, Shawn, Yang, Carly, Sveta, Zhang..all exceptional or medal winners in at least one event. Maria Olaru springs to mind as not standing out individually, and she was 3 quads ago.
    • Exgymgurl Says:
      Oh and Mustafina rocked bars.. Shades of Khorkina and she’s still totally fierce… She’ll be back in 2016…. And compared to 2008 the Russians have rocked this. I’m disappointed for Beth but that dismount…. And at least now when they take He Xexins gold away in ten yearsfor being underage in 2008 she still has a medal from these games.
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        I heard about Beth’s dismount. Depending on how this ends in event finals this just might come down as the WORST OLYMPCIS EVER even with Beth winning a medal.
      • Catherine Says:
        Her hips weren’t square, took a three-tenths step to steady it. She was lucky Komova messed up really but just delighted she stayed in the medals after that.
      • tulip Says:
        Sadly, He can tell the world that she was 5 when China won those medals in 08, FIG did their “due diligence” and approved their credentials after the uproar. No matter what, FIG will stand by their decision. Period. That’s just the kind of people they are.
  5. Exgymgurl Says:
    You forget I’m the expert on Ms Ding Dong
    • gymtruthteller Says:
      LOL You need to work on being an expert.lol
      You forget Gabby got a gift 15.500 in the AA. That is the highest beam score so far. Shows how fucked up these judges are.
      • Exgymgurl Says:
        She won’t get that with a fall… And with Ponor in the field….the judges love her
    • tulip Says:
      So, if there is a Dong-Off, who wins? Ms Ding Dong or Mr. Dong Dong, trampoline gold winner this year?
  6. Exgymgurl Says:
    Oh your right… Wow gabby ranks below Carly dingdong
  7. Exgymgurl Says:
    I must be a lot more tired than I thought… And Shawn won her gold on the last event final….. So I guess gabby is saying she isn’t mentally as tough as shawn
  8. Jenna (@evrlngwatrfalls) Says:
    Ugh Sui Lu drew first? Something tells me she’s going to get screwed over. Chen Yibing, He Kexin, and her all first….not looking good (although He’s placement was right, I honestly think Chen should have won). And Ponor and Deng got second and third. Yikes. The podium has to be from Sui, Ponor, Deng, Aly, or Larisa (and if not Aly she has to medel in fx!) If anyone else gets it, I’ll scream.
    • Catherine Says:
      Larisa isn’t in it. Diana Bulimar is instead. Larisa isn’t in any EF’s (sigh). Beam podium HAS to have Ponor and Lu in it and no Gabby.
      • Jenna (@evrlngwatrfalls) Says:
        No Bulimar dropped out. On the official website Lordache’s back on the start list in her spot. http://www.london2012.com/gymnastics-artistic/event/women-beam/index.html
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        I am pissed at the Romanians. First they leave Bulimer out of prelims on floor and use her in team finals and now this. STOP screwing over the only Romanian I like.
      • Catherine Says:
        No way! The start lists I have seen have Bulimar in them. That’s kinda sad, Diana is a beautiful gymnast who is really being hidden by the stars on her team. I do want Larisa to shine though, she was my AA favourite. I’ll believe it when I see it! Okay ultinate podium with Larisa in EF has to be: Larisa, Lu, Ponor. Or Lu, Larisa, Ponor.
      • Exgymgurl Says:
        It’s like marinescu all over again, raluca haidu scores higher than chelaru ever has on bars and didn’t make the team..l granted its a few tents but still they didn’t need her on any other event
    • gymtruthteller Says:
      It wasn’t a random draw. It was set like the best score goes first, the rest I don’t know.
      Kind of seems unfair that the best score goes first, if anything they should go last
    • Jenna (@evrlngwatrfalls) Says:
      Yeah if it’s not random I don’t know how they do it. Here’s how the people qualified:
      1. Sui Lu
      2: Komova
      3.Douglas
      4. Deng
      5.Raisman
      6. (Ross) Afanaseva
      7. Ponor
      8. (Grishina) (Bulimar) Lordache
      Odd. It just doesn’t seem like a coincidence that most of the top qualifiers have to go first, but is that true all the time? Did Maroney go first? (Wasn’t awake to see that event live)
      • Catherine Says:
        No, she went seventh, Izbasa was eighth..Rogers was first, who probably qualified last..quality definitely improved as it went on.
      • Jenna (@evrlngwatrfalls) Says:
        Oh I forgot that He didn’t qualify first. Then it must be “random”. In quotes.
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        Now I am just confused.lol I know they did something before where it wasn’t random but now you make sense. Color me confused. This is what happens when the IOC and the FIG can’t keep the damn rules the same.
  9. Exgymgurl Says:
    I hope everyone is done rewarding and over scoring gabby.
    • gymtruthteller Says:
      So do I but do I trust the judges, HELL NO. i bet they have noticed so far no event final medals and will score fairly and just AHAHAHAHAH
      • gymglitterxx Says:
        You’re right, even without a fall or major mistake, I predict Gabby will score NO WHERE NEAR a 15.5. Ridiculous (the 15.5, not Gabby scoring lower)
  10. The Dude Says:
    Aly kept going out of bounds during AA warmups and crashed during Team Finals. That might’ve scared her off to do it during AA.
    Don’t think she’ll let that stop her now…I hope
  11. Kel Says:
    I read an article today on NBC Olympics about how Gabby was very innovative in her bar routine…when she messed up, she figured a way to keep her bar routine going…blah, blah, blah. It also mentioned how tired she was since she has been doing so much media since her AA win. PUHLEASE! Excuses, excuses, excuses. I had the same thought about Gabby winning AA and leaving with no event medals. I think that would say a lot about her abilities, but I am sure the excuses would flow. The media loves her…they are eating her up and her bankrupt mom can’t wait to ride that gravy train. Sadly, I can see her winning beam with the generous overscores. Let’s hope she finally falls on beam!!! I don’t have a good feeling about Jordyn on floor…too much competition and athlethes with higher start values. I still think Aly can medal on floor…not so much on beam. I agree that this is becoming the worst Olympics ever!!! On a good note…Jordyn is not ruling Rio out…she is thinking about it. Hope she sticks with it!
    • sainabou nyang Says:
      I read in the paper today about her mothers bankruptcy. Apparently she filed back in jan. Of course the media waited until they listed how much Gabby stands to make after the games to mention this. Now that gabby is gonna be rich their troubles are over.
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        This is the money Gabby earned (or the judges, your pick) her mother needs to train one of her fat daughters to earn some money. This idea Gabby should support her is stupid.
      • Biyatch Says:
        TMZ broke the story, if I had to guess Gabby Douglas was no where near their radar until post AA.
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        The more her name gets dragged through the mud the less I see her on my TV. All is good:)
      • Dee Says:
        I smell another Moceanu/court drama brewing with Gabby and all this family money stuff…
      • Gymbee Says:
        Yeah, in some years maybe when she grows up… Gabby seems so immature and childish to me, younger than her actual age. If her mom takes her money know, she’d probably be oblivious to what was going on.
      • mim Says:
        i hope gabby doesn’t get screwed over by her parents. she does seem like a young 16 and while im not the biggest fan of hers, at the end of the day she’s just an impressionable kid and i’d hate to see her taken advantage of, especially by her parents.
        i mean, im starting to understand gabby’s personality more the more we see/find out about her mother. i feel sort of sorry for her in a way.
        the thing i liked about nastia is her mother.. couldn’t even watch nastia perform! she seemed pretty chill considering she’s married to valerie.
      • sainabou nyang Says:
        i love the celebs who tweeted her congrats but a year ago they had no clue who she was.
      • mim Says:
        i had a chuckle at the lady gaga/mckayla tweets.
      • Exgymgurl Says:
        Sheryl Slade needs to emancipate Gabby and NOW or all her moms creditors can come after her $$$
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        I said the same thing to my mother 3 days ago.
        I have a blog planned on the Douglas was poor / dead beat dad angle the media is now making up but I am afraid it is not going to go over well.
        It sickens me they are playing this angle when they are in London for two weeks and paying thousands of dollars a month to train their daughter while having 3 other teenagers in their family tyhat could get off their ass’s and get jobs to help.
      • JAS4 Says:
        I thought Gabby’s Dad was in the military? Or is that her step Dad or something?
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        That is her father. You know the daddy she loves but now all of a sudden says was a dead beat?
      • JAS4 Says:
        I have a feeling Gabby is going to get more attention for her family drama than anything gymnastics related I agree with who ever said on here earlier that if they’re smart they will only do gymnastics related interviews from now on and try to keep their family business private as much as possible that is unless they are hoping for a reality show lol
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        If the media catches onto this father stuff than eventually this will end her money train. People will get tired of the celebrity angle” much like us normal people want to smack a Kardashian every time we see them on TV.
    • Catherine Says:
      Ugh, why was she doing so much media when she still had two comps left? Why was she ALLOWED? Just a joke. And saying that the best she could have hoped for was 4th? What? Musty, Vika, Beth, He and Yao all would have outscored her anyway.
    • sainabou nyang Says:
      You should read the article from todays NY post with gabby accusing her dad of abandoning the family. The drama in that family is starting to unfold now that projected riches are involved. This will be worse than moceanu.
      • Dee Says:
        I feel for her in a way because I don’t think she expects all her family drama to be in the open…I hope in a few years she takes her earnings and runs. I read an article saying she could get upwards of $10 million for this AA win.
      • sainabou nyang Says:
        Dee I agree. If her mother is smart both her and gabby will stop doing interviews not related solely to gymnastics.
      • tulip Says:
        Is it the one that said she hadn’t seen him in years and she heard someone calling her name at Nationals and there he was. For the first time in ages? We never heard this before.
        And the coverage of the bankruptcy is “it costs of fortune to raise an Olympic gold medalist”. If the rest of us filed, we’d all be the faces of the downfall of America..
      • sainabou nyang Says:
        Tulip that’s the one. Im still wondering about the 20k owed to excaliber.
  12. Dee Says:
    It would be nice if USAG would show podium photos even when no USA athlete is on it. So many of us waited four years to see Beth have her moment….and it’s crickets chirping on Facebook, not even a mention. If you look through the album they posted there is Sam landing his vault and Gabby smiling…it’s like noone else was even there!
    • sainabou nyang Says:
      If no American is on the podium they care. They have the podium pic for vault on the site. I’m surprised they didn’t cut out sandra and maria and only show mckayla.
  13. AKF009 (@AKF009) Says:
    Random note, but does anyone think it is strange that He Kexin always goes first!!!!! At the 2008 Olympics, 2009 World Championships, and at the 2012 Olympics……
  14. Gymbee Says:
    Aww how cute little Camrynn! Thanks or sharing. Can’t wait for finals. I’m streaming them via BBC on my phone from the olympic volunteer rest area :-p better than nothing!
  15. H Says:
    GTT
    Thanks for keeping this blog!
    Hopefully this is the day … which makes this a happy Olympic! Go Aly and Jordyn!
  16. sainabou nyang Says:
    This may be a little off topic, but could someone enlighten me about compulsories. Im a little young -27 lol to really remember them, but I always see posting about them and how people wish they still do them.
    • Luckystar Says:
      Compulsaries were basically a round of the competition where all the gymnasts performed the same routines as each other so the judges could compare their form and execution in a more controlled environment.
      The routines were usually easier than optionals (the different routines that gymnasts performed in the finals like we see now), but emphasized execution, artistry, grace, and form.
      Some people argue that compulsaries are boring to watch and if gymnasts today had to do compulsaries they wouldn’t get a chance to train the incredibley difficult skills we see them do now.
      The counterargument to that is that the reason why gymnasts seem so much messier, less graceful and less clean than we used to see is partially because there are now longer compulsaries, so gymnasts care less about getting basics right.
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        I hate that you have to explain what compulsories is to people.lol That is basics people, BASICS, MAKE GYMNASTS
  17. mim Says:
    wondering how im going to deal with post-olympics anti-climax… will have to watch rhythmic gymnastics after these last artistic finals!
    fingers crossed for aly and jordyn (and lauren, ksenia and even vika!).
  18. Biyatch Says:
    Komova looked thrilled to be standing between Gabby and Aly
  19. nero Says:
    Oh hai FIG you’re 2 per country rule works great, just look at beam. 2 Chinese, 2 Romanian, 2 Russian and 2 American!!! That parity is sure working great!!!!
  20. mim Says:
    wow sui lu was stunning. next to no wobbles or hesitation.
    just gorgeous.
  21. mim Says:
    too many balance checks for ponor…
  22. mim Says:
    deng’s routine is solid but not as pretty as sui’s..
  23. mim Says:
    oh jeez larisa fell off beam…….
    diana bulimar is cursing to herself somewhere.
  24. alex Says:
    off topic just a smidge- I do feel a little bad for Gabby. Did I want her to win? No, I did not. But I don’t like that she’s seeing how mean the public is being about her hair, about her mom, etc. It’s not right. She’s a little kid, and people need to check themselves.
    Anyway….go Aly and Jordyn!!! 🙂
  25. sainabou nyang Says:
    Nbc posted 14.2for Larissa. Omg my heart is breaking.
    Belu took a gamble using her and lost.
  26. H Says:
    Gabby falls of …
  27. Biyatch Says:
    thats the gabby we all know
  28. sainabou nyang Says:
    Looking at ksenias score if Gabby nails it she could knock cata off the podium.
  29. nero Says:
    I HAVE to credit Chow. Gabby was peaked for AA. She messed up quals, hit team and AA then messed up EF. She could have imploded in AA like she has these past few days but didn’t
  30. mim Says:
    ooh aly is wearing a very US/patriotic leo in the background! bet most people would have preferred that leo for the team finals instead of the red rib leos.
  31. Biyatch Says:
    GABBY WONT BE LAST AGAIN!!
  32. DL Says:
    Oh man, so many falls today.
  33. mim Says:
    vika… didn’t fight to stay on the beam (she just gave up!) and sat her dismount.
    get this girl a better sports psychologist, stat.
  34. Biyatch Says:
    Aly got screwed… again.
  35. H Says:
    Raisman 4th . iiiiiiik
    • alex Says:
      Noooooo. What happened!?!?
      • H Says:
        She had one woble and a little jump on landing. She deserve som much a medal. I just hope after all this she nails floor and get a gold medal – and lot of positive attention from the media
        !
  36. nero Says:
    US GIRLS Y U NO WEAR THIS LEO IN TF?? but the red one was actually really pretty
    And Aly in 4th Fuck you judges. Her routine wasn’t perfect but it was better than Ponor’s
  37. sainabou nyang Says:
    Seems to me that some of these girls are tired and ready for the Olympics to be over. Komova especially.
  38. Biyatch Says:
    Mihai filing an inquiry
  39. DL Says:
    WTF Raisman robbed.
    • H Says:
      yes! Super sigh …
    • jazzy31 Says:
      This Olympics sucks a$$. Ponor didn’t even deserve to be there. Her qualifying routine sucked and the judges gave her a gift of a score. Aly gets screwed again.
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        She is fine, they moved it to 3rd. These scoring things sucks and I hope Aly enjoys her bronze because i have a feeling this will cost her floor gold
      • mim Says:
        ohhhh i hope not. i really, really hope not.
        would that seriously happen?
        i can’t believe that nellie broad is still allowed in the gymnastics community. isn’t she ashamed to show her face??
      • sainabou nyang Says:
        Agree not as exciting as Bejing.From the hot pink floor to the shitty judges. So over this Olympics.
        I hope the romanian press gives belu an ass chewing for what he did to bulimar. I sense anothee resignation for belu.
      • alex Says:
        This Olympics has been rife with inconsistency and disappointment…from both the athletes and the judges. Someone needs to tell Komova that it is not a right to compete in the Olympics. There are many other girls who would give anything to be where she is, and she needs to be grateful. Jumping off the beam and pouting is so disrespectful. She’s a beautiful gymnast, but I’m over her
      • mim Says:
        it kills me that she just gives up. she didnt even try to stay on.
      • sainabou nyang Says:
        Screw this olympics. Im ready for worlds next year lol. I already have a prediction on who Marta will put on that team.
  40. Biyatch Says:
    ALY BRONZE
  41. Lauren Says:
    Regardless of what happens with this inquiry. This was a REALLY disappointing beam final. Yeah for Aly at least getting that bronze.
  42. mim Says:
    twitter update: apparently she gets bronze!!!!
  43. Biyatch Says:
    raised D .1, tied with Ponor, won tie-breaker.
  44. Lauren Says:
    I so badly wanted Sui Lu to win. =( But all these falls… At least I like Deng Linlin
    • mim Says:
      i wanted sui lu to get gold too, she beam is just so fluid and artistic. really gorgeous routine but deng linlin hit it.
      • Lauren Says:
        agreed. I mean at least I feel Deng was deserving. And her D score was one tenth higher apparently. So i”m not griping, just saying I reallyw anted her to win. But they blew that field away… No questions. NOt that it was hard today with all those other major misshaps. Geez louise, let’s hope floor is better.
      • mim Says:
        oh i agree (well, i might be griping just a little, i like gymnasts that can show “prettiness” haha). fingers crossed floor is a little less dramatic lol.
  45. Biyatch Says:
    Mihai just gave a fist pump
  46. Biyatch Says:
    they still lowballed her d-score. she is normally at 6.5, with the one missed connection, she should be at 6.4
    her set was really superior to ponor. i bet the romanians think mihai is a traitor.
    so happy for her now she needs to go be a boss on floor.
  47. CKY9 Says:
    Hmm… well, I said it after the AA but didn’t expect it to come to fruition before the games were even over. Gabby is now competing with Olympic Champion next to her name and both times, she’s come out with major mistakes. Yeah… that’s how it happens. You’re not the rising upstart anymore–you’re the best and now everybody’s chasing YOU. Welcome to Jordyn Wieber’s world. I hope she thinks back on her comments after qualification on Jordyn not making AA. I DO respect that she’s been in good spirits despite her mistakes but you know… it’s a fragile thing. Gabby has yet to prove she has the mental toughness of a tried and true champion. That will be interesting to follow after these games.
    Crazy for Aly! When I heard tiebreaker, I flipped out. If she had been on the other side of things again, I would have just cried. Why in heck do the judges keep effing it up? Good job, Mihai for calling out their BS.
    Congrats Aly! Now go get floor GOLD!
    • alex Says:
      Come on, Aly. Do you guys think she can get gold? I so want it for her, but I’m scared to wish too hard…I don’t want to jinx it!
    • nero Says:
      when they were filling an inquiry I KNEW it would be a tie because she was only .1 out, but I really thought she would lose it again. How shitty would that have been??
    • mim Says:
      im liking mihai… did get go put in an inquiry without telling aly? she looked so surprised by the whole thing initially.
      so glad he protested, she’s seen 4th place way too many times.
    • Gymbee Says:
      Me too I thought not again! Good job Mihai. Aly did seem surprised, and hen they were waiting he said something like “it would be a tie right?”. Ugh. Yup I would have cried if she lost it again. So happy for Mihai as well, the coach of a double Olympic champion!
  48. nero Says:
    I told you, I called three more tie breaks. This is one and we still have high bar and floor to go!!!
  49. mim Says:
    now aly incurs the wrath of cata… haha.
    aly’s routine was far more solid, they have been underscoring her the whole way through this olympics.
  50. H Says:
    Aly so cute , lifted D`s medel up for her, meaning celebrate more! Hard not to like Aly:-)
  51. Catherine Says:
    BBC utterly ignored it..guess how I found out Aly won bronze..while Matt and Sam Oldham were talking about high bar..in the very far distance I saw the grey jacket on the podium! Another judging fuck up, and the fourth tie-breaker. Aly deserved bronze in the first place. Sui Lu I thought for sure would get gold. Christine thought Deng’s routine had total lack of rythmn..I’d agree with that. Silver worthy, not gold. Gutting final..oh Larisa and Vika. Vika BETTER come back and storm world championships.
    • alex Says:
      Nah, I’m over Vika. Too much bad sportsmanship. Let someone have it who actually cares to try.
      • Catherine Says:
        Ah now: Silver at worlds, silver AA, silver team, knocked out of bars medals by hitting the bar, disastrous beam…it would kill anyone, never mind a 17 year old with killer potential. She is beautiful to watch, I don’t care who cries or is furious at themselves, the stage that they’re on and what this is worth to them, I’d be weirded out if they were thrilled with crushing dissapointment.
      • mim Says:
        vika just isn’t mentally tough enough. im not kidding when i say that girl really NEEDS a good sports psych for her gymnastics… she’s got potential but she obviously gets in her own head.
    • mim Says:
      the tiebreakers are a real mindfuck for the gymnasts. like they havent gone through enough before that.
      christine does always favour the faster beam workers. i agree with her, too bad the judges didn’t but it’s nice to see china get a gold for women’s gym.
  52. Biyatch Says:
    How amazing will it be if Aly comes out with more medals than Gabby. Double so if its 2 golds
  53. nero Says:
    Zou Kai will win high bar again. This isn’t women’s uneven bars, this is high bar we want big release moves
  54. mim Says:
    HELLO zonderland is HOT.
  55. Biyatch Says:
    the men are so much nicer to each other than the women
    • Lauren Says:
      I think a lot of that has to do with ages. The men are usually a good deal older, and thus they have the wisdom of those few extra years. Teenagers competing against each other, which is often what happens in women’s gymnastics, is sure to breed some bad sportsmanship. A lot of these guys are 10 years older than a lot of the top women gymnasts.
      • CKY9 Says:
        I kinda hoped McKayla’s 16.233 in TF would stand as the highest score in these games but Mustafina’s EF bars beat it AND several men’s high bars beat it. All of them are just SICK!! I love it!!
      • Catherine Says:
        It’s the highest in WAG, Musty’s EF bars were 16.133- so was Beth’s qualifying. 6.5 can’t really compete with those 7.9 7.7 difficulties MAG have..BUT this is the highest WAG execution score since the new code, that’s quite an honour for McKayla
      • Luckystar Says:
        I agree. I also think the girls put a tad more pressure on themselves because it’s rare to make more than one Olympics for WAG so it feels like this is their one shot, whereas guys usually reach their peak in their mid-twenties and a lot of them get to go once to get a feel or things before they are serious individual medal contenders. The men can shrug their shoulders and say I’ll do better next time when they mess up. The girls don’t have that luxury.
    • mim Says:
      haha my bf and i were just saying that. the boys are so nice and chill, all smiles and congrats to each other.
  56. The Dude Says:
    Aly, don’t let that bronze lose the fire. KICK THE ROMANIANS ASS
  57. mim Says:
    i have to at least once show some country allegiances in the women’s gym olympics… GO LAUREN MITCHELL!
    and aly. and jordyn. and ksenia.
  58. mim Says:
    14.566 for afan. shame, i love her floor.
  59. The Dude Says:
    Could this be when Jordyn and Aly FINALLY peak????? Come one Aly, don’t play it safe….GO FOR IT!!!
  60. sainabou nyang Says:
    Watching scoring on nbc websitr. what wer ksenias deductions for?
  61. mim Says:
    aw…. most of jo’s landings were messy. 😦
    she’s was just a bit off tonight.
    • sainabou nyang Says:
      These girls are gassed out. Mentally and physically I think they’re done and ready to go home.
  62. Biyatch Says:
    ALY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  63. H Says:
    Great Aly! 15.600!
  64. mim Says:
    ALY HIT ALY HIT!!!!!
  65. CKY9 Says:
    Woo Aly! If she doesn’t get gold here, I will fall out of my chair! That was MASSIVE!!!
    • sainabou nyang Says:
      Cat better get amped up if she wants that gold.
      Go aly but sucks for jordyn.
      • mim Says:
        cata’s did well… is her D score higher than aly’s?
      • sainabou nyang Says:
        I think its lower than alys at a 6.1 or 6.2.
        Looking at the final roster im sensing another country will be screwed for a medal.
    • alex Says:
      OMG I am DYING at work. Can’t wait to see it later….SO happy for Aly. I want her to win gold. Come on, Aly! Olympic floor champ!
    • CKY9 Says:
      Way to go, Aly! Finally GOLDEN! She blew the field away! I’m so happy for her!
  66. mim Says:
    15.2 for cata! and LOTS of boos from the audience….
    shut up audience aly was fabulous.
    • sainabou nyang Says:
      14.8 for lauren. Can musty, ferrari, or izbasa beat that score? I think thats where the screw will come.
    • Catherine Says:
      Lots of pissed Romanians at Cata getting dropped out of beam medals despite her errors..so they’ll carry over the hate to Aly winning floor. I sometimes look at a Romanian gym forum and they hated Aly before the Olympics..not a big suprise that has become worse now! But Aly had the difficulty advantage here, fair and square though 15.6 is a tad high.
  67. nero Says:
    Ugh so sad for Jo, why did they do the stag out of triple she went OOB in quals and stuck the triple without it in team.
    YAY for Aly, going to leave with the most medals from any American!
    • tulip Says:
      And it there should have been a bronze for tying in AA. Does anybody know if the new quad will allow ties after this Olympics demonstrates that it happens?
  68. mim Says:
    good routine from lauren! she’s a bit flatter than normal though, she’s been injured. shame, would have like to have seen her get bronze.
    • mim Says:
      although… sarah finnegan peforms the mitchell better than lauren.
      • Dee Says:
        I think the Mitchell is one of the ugliest moves in gymnastics. But it’s so hard. Finnegan makes it look actually possible! I don’t know why but I’ve always hated that move!
  69. Kazic Says:
    Aly is going to get gold. Yaaaay!
  70. mim Says:
    vanessa ferrari’s music is too morbidly dramatic and sandra izbasa’s music puts me to sleep. i need good music when watching floor!
  71. mim Says:
    i love how classical aliya is. and she controls EVERY landing. beautiful. gunning for silver for her.
  72. nero Says:
    I TOLD YOU ANOTHER TIEBREAK!!!!!!
    • sainabou nyang Says:
      I was right musty and ferrari with same score but musty gets 9.00 execution. Someone please enlighten me on this.
      • Catherine Says:
        Ferrari was killed in execution, 8.566. It was a disgrace, her floor was amazing! They didn’t hate Aly’s style, so why Vanessa’s?? Mustafina also was working with only a 5.9 d-score, she fell out of a spin. Disgraceful.
    • Biyatch Says:
      +1
  73. Biyatch Says:
    GOLD MEDAL FOR ALY!! FOR US OLY FLOOR GOLD!!! MOST MEDALS OF ANY US GYMNAST
  74. H Says:
    Aly GOLD! I am so so happy for her!
  75. alex Says:
    YAYYYYY!! I am so happy for Aly!!!
  76. mim Says:
    snaps to sandra, she smiled when she saw her score.
    and she looks like veronica mars haha.
    i wonder if lauren had just been more ON if she could have beaten musty and ferrari.
  77. nero Says:
    If Jordyn had down floor like in team she would have got the bronze. I blame Geddert for these stupid decisions
    Aly Raisman double Olympic Gold Medalist!! I can hear the whining and complaining already….deal with it
    • alex Says:
      Thrilled for that kid. Well deserved.
    • mim Says:
      aly’s steadiness really truly got her results. couldn’t be happier for her!
    • H Says:
      She is the one with most medals from US is she not. She, Musty and … have won most medals overall, or how is that?
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        Aly had two golds and one bronze and she should have had an AA bronze but different discussion:) but yes, most us MEDALS GOES TO aLY. mUSTAFINA HAS 4 SO MOST OVERALL FOR FEMALE GOES TO HER.
        Ignore my capitals. NOT retyping:)
      • nero Says:
        Musty has 4 Aly 3. 2!!! of Aliya’s medals came from tiebreak because of her execution score, even though her twisting is some of the worst there is and she fell on beam……
      • Kazic Says:
        Musty must be quietly laughing herself silly. No one expected much from her, and look at what she accomplished. The hope of Russia was supposed to be Komova. Feel so bad for her btw. She just doesn’t have the mental fortitude that Musty does, and it cost her.
  78. sainabou nyang Says:
    Wow this Olympics has been good for aly- 2 gold, 1 bronze. For musty even better-4 medals.
    Jordyn it wasn’t meant to be. Same for Mckayla but at least your going home with gold.
    Gymnastics is now over. what the heck are we going to do for the next few months lol?
  79. nero Says:
    As happy as I am for Aly, I’m more sad for Jordyn. I hope she sticks around but she probably wont. I know she’ll be disappointed, but she’ll always be a member of the Fab (Fierce?) Five
    And Mckayla!! USA would have had 4 gold medals and 3 double Olympic Champions!!
    • mim Says:
      i still feel sick when i remember mckayla sitting vault. that hurt just as much as jordyn missing out on AA.
      • CKY9 Says:
        Totally. McKayla was so far out in front with her first vault… she really didn’t need the stick on vault 2. I just keep replaying it in my head… but of all the women’s competition, I feel the most for Jordyn. Admittedly, I don’t think she’s #1 in any particular event but what she has (that few others have) is the mental toughness to be the last one standing and that’s how she wins.
  80. Catherine Says:
    Another fantastic day for the judges. Sui Lu screwed, Deng slightly overscored, a huge mess-up on Aly’s d-score, tiebreak, Aly overscored on floor (YES it was amazing but 15.600?), Ferrari lowballed and robbed of bronze, Mustafina overscored.Two EF’s and 2 tiebreaks. Is that 5 tiebreaks now?
  81. Gymbee Says:
    Yay Aly!!!!! What a great routine!
    Oh my god that was a long wait! I was watching it in a room full of other Olympic volunteers (athletics ones, so none of them cared about gymnastics, most looked bored or mildly amused) and when izbasa fell on her last pass I go, kindly of loudly, “yessss!” and pumped my fists. Now, I really like Izbasa and I am not a sports yeller normally, but I was so nervous and anxious. Never know with the judges. Anyway, 60 people turned from the tv to look at me. Oh well.
    I am so thrilled that Aly won the most medals! (and not Gabby.) Dont seem that all the media the girls have been doing got to her haha. I’m happy also she got bronze first, that must’ve boosted her confidence going into floor. ANOTHER 4th for her wouldn’t have been good.
    Feel bad about those idiotic tie-breaks! But sweet irony that now Aly was on the right side of it.
    (sorry for the long post.)
    • Gymbee Says:
      Oh and I forgot Jordyn 😦 she looks so defeated and sad. I noticed before her routine stared, in her opening pose she normally has a fierce look in her eyes, but this time her expression just seemed kind of empty. Bless her. At least she has a medal from the team, but the athletes all come for gold. This Olympics, being so close on the athletes every day and seeing them after the cameras turn off, some happy and some devastated really makes me think of how beautiful and brutal sports are.
      • mim Says:
        she didn’t have the fire. too much nervous energy maybe. it’s really sad she didn’t have the olympics she and almost everyone expected for her. happy she really was a driving force to get that team gold though, and at least she will always be known for absolute sportsmanship and being a team player through and through.
      • Kazic Says:
        I still love her. I hope she stays around for a bit.
      • tulip Says:
        Jordyn competed on a stress fracture and still had that outstanding floor routine in TF. That to me shows that the girl is tough as nails. Between that and her class and grace, she should get the gold in sportsmanship. I wish that were possible.
      • Exgymgurl Says:
        They think it’s a stress fracture. jordyn didn’t want to injury out any more than Komova (finger and some other problems )did so she pushed through it. I wouldn’t be surprised if its not a boot and a surgery to fix her. geddert said shed see a doc at home…. So they really don’t know how bad it is, but she’s an Olympic champion. Remember Chellsie Memmels bruised toe that was a broken foot?…… yeah I don’t think team Wieber wants to know any more than McCool wanted to know how messed up her wrists were, or Kupet’s ankle, or Gabbys foot that’s been taped since pan ams….
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        LOL Thanks for letting me know. Now I can go to sleep with a smile on my face. Thanks for the laugh
  82. mim Says:
    okay. now i have gymnastics withdrawals.
  83. JAS4 Says:
    So glad Aly got two more medals! Really wish Jordyn could made the podium but I hope she continues!
  84. sainabou nyang Says:
    I just had a thought. What do you think Martas reaction is to aly getting the most medals over gabby? Gabbys two golds are impressive but now people are going to be talking abou aly taking home the most medals for the us.
    • gymtruthteller Says:
      The AA medal will make the difference. ALy should have cried for the sympathy vote.lol
      • Kazic Says:
        Still, the vindication must be sweet for Aly. Always a Bridesmaid and never a Bride this Olympics. And now, finally her golden moment.
      • sainabou nyang Says:
        Lol but GTT why do I get this feeling that if aly shows up at camp next month that marta will treat her like asac.
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        Only if three medals outs stages her princess Gabby.
      • Gymbee Says:
        She didn’t even cry on the podium?
    • Gymbee Says:
      Hahaha poor NBC. They hardly knew Aly existed before this, and now the captain brings home 3 medals. “came out of nowhere to win floor gold” I can see the headlines already.
  85. Kazic Says:
    What really pisses me off is the ONLY thing we have now never gotten a gold in is…. *drumroll* VT. -_-
    • Gymbee Says:
      Lol. True. For the country that dominated vault in TF’s. I just have to laugh, but I am so sad for McKayla falling!
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        In hindsight I am glad she did not win vault because if she had there is no way the judges would have given Aly floor gold and she deserved it.
      • Kazic Says:
        She did deserve it GTT, but Mckayla going home without getting vault gold is like…Reeses cups with pickles. Or something.
  86. nero Says:
    Wow Jordyn was competing with stress fractures in her foot. Definitely not the way she saw her Olympics going. Tough girl
  87. tulip Says:
    GTT- I just want to say thank you for hosting this blog. I couldn’t imagine this Olympics without it. I was stuck here like glue! There just aren’t other blogs that question the ethics of the sport we love. So thanks!!! I found you by searching about Nastias bad attitude or something like that. I knew I had found my home out there in the interwebs.
    And I love your comments about the D judges not correctly doing the ONLY job they are there to do. Because I hate Nellie Kim for her cheating ways- I blame her. But really, since the FIG allows it, they need to own it. Never happen, but at least there is one site where we can talk about it without the Mary Margarets of the world spouting pre-approved rhetoric with no logic (I knew I’d get her name in one more time- a legend in her own mind)
    • sainabou nyang Says:
      Same here. I think ive learned more a out this sport from you and everyone else on this blog. I hope to see more of your blogs GTT but with gymnastics dead for the next few months ill understand if you need to take a breakrom all the bs of this Olympics lol. Unless of course you have a mole inside usagym who can give you the juice on whats going on behind the scenes.
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        My moles are at individual gyms and there are not that many of them.
        I was surprised when I posted my e-mail address I got a couple e-mails from people who have feet in the door so maybe we will get more info before I piss these people off with something I say.lol
    • gymtruthteller Says:
      LOL You are very welcome. It’s been hard for me to lay low through some of the love fest for certain people but I am trying to not act like Abomb too much.lol
      I am glad you enjoy posting here and I am glad you do:)
      • alex Says:
        Yes, thank you GTT. You’ve been a terrific resource, and I’m so glad I found you! 🙂
      • H Says:
        Thanks again GTT!
        Looking forward to more blogs from you in the future, as well good competitions.
        While we are waiting for that, do you have some troll post you would like to share 😉
        And is anyone updated about the new changes in the code?
      • gymtruthteller Says:
        I will do that when I can. I think now that the Olympics are over the 4 year fans have gone with them.
      • Gymbee Says:
        Ditto GTT! I actually found this board googling “Nastia called Chellsie fat” or something like that. I started reading and it was like “aaaaah” this is the place 🙂
      • mim Says:
        thank you from me too GTT! it’s so nice to find other gym fans (my friends and family all think i’ve lost the plot over gymnastics over the past year or so) but also hear real critiques when called for. i’ve learned heaps from all you guys too! im really looking forward to seeing what goes down in the next 4 years before rio.
        i think i found the board by googling “is nastia really a bitch?” or something along those lines haha.
      • sainabou nyang Says:
        Its funny how Nastia brought us all together.
  88. sainabou nyang Says:
    Here we go again, the gossip mill is saying john geddert is sort of blaming marta for jordyns stress fracture. He says she got the injury at camp.
    I think he realizes now that this is over his 15 min are drying up.
    • gymtruthteller Says:
      I saw the quote. He wasn’t blaming her but he should.
      • Kazic Says:
        We know she breaks gymnasts. Geddert is a tool, but that doesn’t make him wrong.
      • JAS4 Says:
        I wouldn’t be surprised if Marta tried to work Jordyn extra hard so she would break and make way for Gabby or either Jordyn was working herself extra hard until she broke after Marta having Gabby over scored so much at Nationals and Trials and I also wonder if Marta didn’t tell Geddert to keep Jordyn’s beam the way it was instead of changing it like he wanted to
      • Exgymgurl Says:
        Marta breaks people. It always happens at camp and not their home gyms. Marta broke Jordyn, Chellsie, Shayla, McKaylas toe, Mattie Larsons leg, EBee Price, the only alternate we had left was Finnegan….. SAD!!!!
      • mim Says:
        im fascinated by their whole reasoning behind their approach. i wonder if they simply believe their gymnasts are expendable and if one is injured, just bring on the next girl to take her place.
        you guys were on to something when you said marta will break one of the girls this olympics, jordyn in particular. or at the very least, marta could rely on the fact she knew jordyn would push herself but they let her push herself until she broke.
        these karolyi camps seem really sinister to me. not sure why, maybe because they aren’t transparent and hidden off in the middle of nowhere.
    • tulip Says:
      My guess is that he’s right. Marta has a history of breaking the athletes with overtraining. Last Olympics, Chellsie had a stress fracture of her own (I think) and Sam hurt herself badly warming up on night 1. I believe both were repetitive stress injuries and more than a few athletic experts have commented on how much it can hurt the girls to do what she puts them through. Right before the Olympics, even IG said they were overtrained!
    I think many of you called it when you said Marta would get someone injured in her death camp. I find it strange, though, that Maroney was nursing her toe while Jordyn was going full speed on a hurt leg. No wonder Geddert kept trying to get rest and days off for her.
    On another note, imo, the gymnast rule makers need to take a long look at a lot of things after this Olympics. In a sport that appears to be “very” subjective (as one who doesn’t know much about scoring, the inconsistencies were obvious), I think scores from two todays of competition should be factored. It seems wrong for someone who is an amazing athlete to be judged on one routine…especially when judges can’t be consistent. Plus, I think in a sport like this made up of minors, the pressure of knowing one fall could ruin everything for a team competition is a lot of stress to deal with. Factoring two days seems more appropriate and awards those who are most consistent. Also, I’d like to see judges’ indiv scores posted on the bottom of the screen. How can things be so inconsistent and be called fair?
      I’d like to see them actually held accountable for their scores. It’s all soo hush hush that it’s easy to cheat.
    • Nina Marie Says:
      Can someone explain the Nellie Kim thing? I read on wikipedia that she was suspended for a while… but there’s not a lot of information. Also, just curious if people think the bad judging has gotten worse or if this Olympics is a pretty typical showing.
    Sad to report that catalina has announced her retirement for the third time or is this fourth.
    I wonder if belu and mariana will resign fir the second time or stay on?
    • Exgymgurl Says:
      Catalina Ponor is not Chusovitna, and she’s been around since pre-2004… The first ASac / Memmel quad and she competed against Carly ding dong… She’s had an awesome career, and I think we all knew European Playboy or Maxim was in her future and not gymnastics. What more does she need to give? We don’t fault Patterson for retiring…. And Cata has more medals. The Romanians need to wake up and buy some bar grips.
    I just thought today while watching beam finals – Gabby’s beam score from AA was 15.5 – same as Sui Lu today. I think the beam judges should go take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror, cause that is insane.
  92. Kate Coursey Says:
    I’m definitely no expert in the scoring system, but I have read the Code, and I can usually block out a routine based on difficulty and execution to get a general idea of what the score should be. As so many people on this blog have said, scoring this year was BS. There needs to be some sort of system where judges are held accountable for their scores. I mean, if Mihai hadn’t contested Aly’s score, she wouldn’t have gotten the medal. Is the federation really satisfied with judges making these errors? I know there are politics involved and all that, but we need some serious checks and balances for judges. I for one would love to know how Gabby’s bar score jumped from 15.3 to 15.7 (or whatever it was).
    • gymtruthteller Says:
      Wouldn’t we all. Her beam score in the AA is another score that makes no sense.
      I think the lack of code experts telling us what all the errors should have been is very telling.
    One thing that bothered me the entire Olympics: WHY DID THEY ONLY HAVE ONE STYLE OF LEOTARDS, they weren’t patriotic at all, they were ugly as heck, and they didn’t show what country they clearly were from. That bothered me somuch..
    Sharing a few things you may find interesting, or not. That’s okay too! Caveat: this is Teen Vogue so take it with a grain of salt. My cousin sent it to me because she knows I was a gymnast (back in the olden days) and it was sweet of her.
    I love this- Aly said she just signed with Ralph Lauren. Now I know why her parents were wearing RL when we saw them in the stands. I wonder if they are behind her more mature look. Honestly, I thought she looked gorgeous and prior to these games I thought she was a cute athletic girl. Now she is striking.
    ***For a grin- there’s a similar one for Nastia. I didn’t want to look so someone tell me what Nastia says about preparing for the Olympics please***
    Am I ever on the slow train… I just now learned that Aly put her gold medal around Mihai’s neck after TF and he cried. That is such a lovely sentiment. Girlfriend is pure class. I hope she sticks around for a little bit just to show some of the younger girls from all over how you behave at a competition. Did you see her hug Musty who walked back and gave her Aly a thumbs up on her floor routine with a SMILE?!?
    These games drove me crazy in so many ways. It is really nice to see that in spite of the judges lack of fair play, some of the gymnasts and coaches chose to conduct themselves with some integrity and class.
    • Kazic Says:
      The moment between Aly and Mustifina was one of my favorite (non-winning) moments of the gymnastic part of the Olympics. It’s just proof that a smile and the spirit of fair play are a language that anyone can understand.
      Aliya went in for the traditional air kiss, got surpised with a good ol’ fashioned American Bear Hug, and appreciated the sentiment enough to grin back, It was great, and proves how dumb the terrible trio are for playing up this whole “the russians in general, and Mustifina in particular are divas” angle. Arrogant divas do give their competitors thumbs up. They bitch slap them.
    do you all think the events of these olympics (multiple tie-breakers, the fallout of jordyn not qualifying to AA on the 2-country rule, inquiries about scoring etc..) will actually see change come out? this really was the first olympics where viewers could really “take part” in watching and discussing/critiquing on a mass scale online on twitter, fb, youtube etc.. moreso than 2008. and there has been so many comments on the shitness of the judges this olympics.. i wonder if FIG will be forced to review the inconsistencies? or if they are just so removed and corrupt that they don’t have to… would be nice for the gymnasts’ sakes.
