Hidden Gem

After sitting through what seemed like 100 Junior event final routines filled with badly done double tucks as their first tumbling pass on you tube I came across this little Gem I did not expect.

Nina Lou. from China on beam.

She had a 6.2 difficulty and did a very good job. Do yourself a favor, don’t watch her floor. It will ruin the mood.

I also have to throw in Amelia Hundley on floor. The routine we didn’t get to see (Thanks NBC) during team finals was done a little better but she finished second to the chosen one.

This is very much a MLT original (Amelia reminds me a bit of Jaycie Phelps)

and just for the record Katelyn’s score on floor was extremely overscored.

I really love Hundley’s floor. She really sells it and the music is a good fit for her.

  2. exgymgurl Says:

Picture set of GD’s ankle. I liked the Jrs…..Kyla got medals in all 3 event finals and more medals than Jordyn, (Jordyn has 3 gold) Kyla had 2 gold, 2 silver, and a bronze

  3. JAS4 Says:

I think Kyla did really well I just hope they let her show more difficulty at Jeselo

  4. Yo Momma Says:

I really like that Amelia Hundley. She’s one of the few that seem genuinely happy and excited to be performing out there. And she’s that way on every apparatus! What a Gem.

  5. hakuna matata Says:

check out the USAG’s website.. they show pics of gabby and jordyn and the other three men gymnasts with their GOLD medals but they show kyla with her SILVER medal when she has 2 other Gold medals -.-

    here’s the link:

I really wonder why USAG/ Martha don’t really like Kyla

    • JAS4 Says:

Either they are trying to keep her a secret or Marta wants to keep her hidden so she can screw her over for Nastia or One of her other favorites perhaps this week Marta has a Team of Jordyn, Gabby, Aly, Maroney, Nastia in her head lol

      • gymtruthteller Says:

If she is trying to keep Kyla on the down low in favor of Nastia I would hope Kyla’s coach would open his mouth. Say she told Kyla to do lower start values and then she leaves her home because she has them any coach with a brain would go to the media.

      • JAS4 Says:

Yeah that’s true but if he does go to the media I think it would be closer to the Olympics if he truly believes Marta is going to screw Kyla over right now even if he thinks it’s crap that she made Kyla water down her routines he might not want to out Marta just yet while there is still a chance for her to make the team and ruin her chances or something but I really hope Kyla is showing more difficulty at Jeselo and definitely by Classics

      • gymtruthteller Says:

It is too early to say anything now, of course. I’ll see you in June.

      • JAS4 Says:

Yeah if a healthy Kyla doesn’t make the team I will be pissed especially if she gets screwed for a Marta favorite Nastia in particular lol I really hope Marta is just hiding Kyla to surprise everyone because everyone already knows what Jordyn and Aly can do but Kyla is the unknown to most people

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I wouldn’t say she doesn’t like Kyla. I would say Kyla is not her pet. Rebecca is her pet. Gabby is her pet. Nastia is her pet. I wouldn’t even call Jordyn her pet. Jordyn has too much talent to ignore but much like Sloan she will take her if she hits.

      • Sandy Says:

I would love to know what exactly makes a Marta pet. Kissing ass? What? (I’m really wanting to know…does anyone have any insider knowledge?)

Also, I would hope that any coach of a talented athlete like Kyla would have her back if it came to her being screwed over. It’s not like she belongs to WOGA and Valerie would “trade” her place for his daughter’s sake while having Bross in his back pocket. I think she goes to Gym Max (where Maroney used to go, if I hear correctly) and so this is a gym where they are potentially seeing one of their first athletes get a solid chance of participating in the Olympics and coming home with medals. She’d be the face of their gym and they’d get recognition that way – which is much needed since people like Maroney have obviously felt the need to transfer to more highly recognized gyms for their careers.

  6. Alex Says:

Pretty dancing, nice routine. Very good!

  7. Aerial Says:

I was prepared to dislike Hundley, but I like her. Her form in the first half of the routine is better than the second, but she has come far and no rush. On all events, she seems to have some innate talent with the big tricks, which is neato. What I like the most about this kid is that she smiles – big, genuine, thrilled smiles – all the time. We rarely see that ever in this sport, and I get it – they are so concentrated at the meets, the pressure is up the wazoo not to mess up, and I personally would be shitting my pants at my biggest meet ever where my teammates are all bigger ‘names’ than me.
All this considered, Hundley held her own and proved she isn’t just Lexie’s teammate brought so they only had to pay for another jr. coach. Kid was so excited just to be there and her smile, even in the corner of her tumbling passes, made we want to support someone who appears overjoyed for the opportunity to participate at this level and do the sport she loves. Her floor music was also exciting and you could tell she loved it. I hope she keeps this joy, it was a real treat and rarity to see.

Apparently, the juniors from New Zealand, Russia and Mexico were spellbound by the grandeur and pageantry that was the Pacific Rim Championships, and beamed when asked be in photos and sign autographs. But one junior athlete seemed unimpressed.

It was written all over her tiny face: “What?! Gymnastics on my day off – you’ve gotta be kidding me! *sigh* The one day I get to see my dad and all I have time to do is ride past our house on the way to that stupid Pac Rims… And you expect me to be back in the gym the following morning at the mercy of that slave driving daughter of yours? This is bull$%#@!”

On TV, Katelyn did not look like a happy camper.

  8. Sandy Says:

Is this crazy but I had even a “thought” last night that ASac AND Aly made the team. The scenario would be: ASac, Aly, Douglas, Weiber, and Kyla. Here are the rotations:

    V: ASac, Weiber, Aly, (Kyla)
    UB: Kyla, Weiber, Douglas, (Aly)
    BB: Weiber, Aly, Kyla, (ASac)
    F: Weiber, Aly, Kyla, (Douglas)

It could happen only because ASac’s rudi is turning out to look more “reliable” than Douglas’ or Kyla’s amanars…but I might be speaking too soon. However it’s a thought. Of course Maroney could be substituted for ASac here (did I hear right that Maroney’s amanar is no longer as “awesome?” – that really sucks)…and of course Nastia “could” be substituted for Douglas, but that would really suck for the girl(s) that worked really hard the past four years to make this team and then got screwed over for some over-hyped and (at this point) sub-par bar worker.

P.S. I watched the Voice last night…anyone think that Nastia kind of looks like Christina Aguillera? In a way?

P.P.S. if Marta leaves a healthy Kyla off this team in favor of a Nastia or someone of that nature, I will only hope that she is fired from her post after she comes back from the Olympic games. I really think she’s somewhat hiding Kyla the way the Chinese and the Russians like to hide their “surprises” until the games begin.

  9. Aerial Says:

Maroney recently beat Aly in AA at camp, didn’t she? I thought she was looking good just that ppl were worrying about the influx of Amanars.
At this point, I’d fully assume Sac and Memmel are done based on learning to walk again/raise their arm with 2 months to go before Championships.
I think Kyla has a good chance of making it, just based on consistency and lines. I know ppl were jumping on the Gabby or Kyla Olympic AA gold before even seeing them at the past couple meets, which seemed a little extreme before seeing them or up against their full range of top US competitors, but right now I’d say both have a good chance of making the team.

    • Sandy Says:

Oh did she? That’s interesting. Aly must have made big mistakes because Maroney beat Aly at Nationals too with mediocre routines; Aly had a crappy beam session because Bross had just injured herself on vault and it shook everyone.

Did ASac do anything at the most recent camp? I also have a vision where ASac will show up at Nationals and kind of raise her hand like “goodbye” and retire “with grace” …like, she’ll get up and line up to do her vault, do a FTY or something easy, and raise her hand up like “it was fun, but goodbye gymnastics and thanks for everything”…she’ll tear up and all, the media will GLOB onto it, and Nastia will be shooting herself for not thinking of that first.

At least ASac’s comeback was legit and she really made a run of it. I’m actually sad she’s injured because I really wanted to see her go up against Maroney at Worlds. I was looking forward to that. Now it doesn’t look like that will ever happen. Even though I’m not a fan of her personality, I did appreciate her “presence” on beam and floor. She had the best floor music IMO…although I’m really liking Wieber’s floor right now.

      • Aerial Says:

Haha keep posting your visions, there is definitely the market for a USA Olympic Team psychic right now!!

It will be interesting to see the results of Jesolo and how the actual Olympic candidates do.

I’m not surer what I think about Sac anymore. At first, I wanted her to get that second Olympic chance and was very sad when she was injured… and hoped she could comeback in time (though she seems very far away now from where she needs to be.) But I also think that’s because I was still thinking she was our best chance on vault, and now I really like Maroney. Beyond that, everyone seems to be claiming they have an amanar, even Ohashi is going for one, which is ridiculous considering she is five and has several years to go before qualifying for her first worlds… why the rush when she already is dominating the jr world??

I feel like Shawn’s comeback is very honorable… unlike Nastia, she started well in advance and has given up all other aspects of her life to train and rehab. Fingers crossed that she shows routines at camp and nails them! She needs to be competing and getting the nerves out so that she’s used to that mindset again before the big meets, but I guess that’s not a possibility any longer.

      • JAS4 Says:

I hope Marta is just trying to keep Kyla a surprise until the Olympics and not hiding her to screw her over and also I really hope Shawn gets some routines together soon but I was kind of surprised to here that she didn’t have routines together because in a interview a few weeks before camp she said that she was hoping to go to Jeselo at the end of March but who knows maybe it really is just taking her a little longer than she thought to get her routines but then again it could be more Marta nonsense

      • gymtruthteller Says:

I am not a fan of Alicia knowing that she is the bitch ring leader but she is one hell of a vaulter. I also give her credit for sucking so badly on beam in 04 and then turning it into one of her better events just 4 years later. That being said I wanted to see her get her ass kicked by Maroney last year too. Quiet justice.

  10. Katie Hallman (@MsKatieEHallman) Says:

I’ve been thinking about this “Kyla might get screwed over” thing. You know what, what if it’s Gabby Marta screws over? There’s no good reason Kyla can’t be on the same team as Nastia!

In Marta’s 3 AAers and 2 UB specialists plan, Kyla fits in perfectly. She’s both really. But Gabby probably should just be an UB specialist and in Marta’s mind, she would be easily replaceable by Nastia!

    • gymtruthteller Says:

If Gabby keeps screwing up then maybe. Kyla almost out scored Gabby during event finals. I have not seen Kyla’s routine yet but Gabby missed a few handstands. I was shocked the judges even noticed. They sure did not notice her Amanar being a DTY.

I would hate to see Gabby get screwed over in favor of Nastia either. I can’t believe how unaware these gymnasts as a whole are.

If I was a gymnast playing by the rule book, working my ass off possibly being passed over by someone training half ass because Marta likes her I would be pissed.

Nastia did a bad job at the one camp she attended. Maybe they think she has no shot.

      • Sandy Says:

I think Gabby fits with both the AA and the bar specialist positions…Gabby has been pretty consistent in bars, maybe not the other apparatuses. If she can pull a 6.9 D score at nationals she deserves to be on this London team, I don’t care what anyone says.
Kyla obviously fits as well. Really, it will come down to who is not injured.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Gabby being an UB specialist backing up others on the 3 other events would not be a bad thing but if you are counting on Gabby for any other event for team finals then bars, you deserve to lose.

Want to know what scenario scares the hell out of me? Gabby hitting bars at pacs, classics, Nationals AND Trials. If she hits bars at every event leading up to the Olympics she is most likely to fall at the worst possible time, The Olympic team finals.

  11. Aerial Says:

Gymtruthteller, I agree with you on the Sac’s a bitch thing. I know people initially liked her for being a ‘diva’ and showing attitude, but beyond being fierce when performing floor choreo, I’m not partial to “mean girls” and cheer for them for that reason. It seems people either bash or love people who speak their mind or are, frankly, inappropriate towards competitors, then either way turn their back on them anyhow. I think she thought dating her bf was a huge deal and it went to her head, making her even more self-possessed. Give me confidence and perseverance through struggles, but we don’t need any more high school era beyotches.
I do hate seeing anyone’s ‘sad story’ or dreams not come true, but the reality is with every Olympian in the past 10 years trying to make this team plus the current crop of very talented girls vying for 5 spots, this time is gonna be the biggest heartbreaker of them all, sadly.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Marta sat by while Nastia treated Chellsie badly because she beat her. Then she sat by blindly when Nastia did the same thing to Shawn.

Alicia was the ring leader of the make fun of Shawn brigade but like most queen bee’s she know how to get her minions to do the dirty work for her.

I do not mind people that stand up for themselves but some people cross the line and Alicia is one of those people. I hope she has grown up since then.

      • JAS4 Says:

I kind of get the impression that Asac is no longer the Queen of mean I think it’s probably Nastia who has taken over since she won the AA in 08 (not that I’m defending Asac) but as for Asac I hope she has grown up and stopped the high school drama lol leave that for Nastia and her followers lol

      • gymtruthteller Says:

She has no one to fight with anymore. She would look like an idiot treating 16 year old Mckayla Maroney like crap at her age.

      • JAS4 Says:

Yeah she would really be the villan then so instead of being mean to the newbies she has decided to be their “fearless and great leader” lol

      • doughnut sundae Says:

Alicia was a prima donna? I thought Shayla Worley was the Gestapo girl!

      • gymtruthteller Says:

You know how junior high works. You have the queen (That was Alicia) and she had her minions (Shayla, Nastia and Sam) and the queen had her minions do all the dirty work.

      • JAS4 Says:

Now Nastia is the Queen and is trying to recruit newbies I just hope they seriously don’t fall for that lol

      • Gymbee Says:

Really? I had no idea Alicia was mean to anyone or to Shawn (other than the big sourpuss face when Shawn beat her in FX at worlds). Are there other examples? I always liked Alicia and think she’s funny.
(Love this blog btw, so much better than a lot of the boards!)

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Shawn mentioned in a article that the girls treated her badly. Someone else reported that they made fun of her cloths and the whole area Shawn is from.

      • JAS4 Says:

Wow Shawn is much better person than me because at that age I would have definitely had to teach them a lesson via mean harsh pranks or something lol

      • doughnut sundae Says:

“I always get picked on because I am the shortest. I’m like: ‘Well, let’s pull out our medals and stand on them. Yeah. Let’s see who’s tallest now.'” – Shawn Johnson

I’m sure gnawing remarks like this one made Nastia rabid.

      • doughnut sundae Says:

Why did Nastia hurt Chellsie? What did Chellsie ever do to her?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

She beat her. You never heard the story about how when Chellsie beat Nastia? Nastia called her a name and said she stole her world AA title. Apparently things were super tense for years. Chellsie forgave Nastia and now they are BFF’s.

There was also a rumor that Valeri threw a fit when Chellsie beat Nastia but no one really knows the truth about that

      • JAS4 Says:

Wouldn’t surprise me at all lol I’m sure Nastia was still pissed that she wasn’t old enough to go to the Olympics in 04 because I read online that Marta said she would have put Nastia on the 04 team if she had been old enough

      • Sandy Says:

Chellsie beat her, and that is unacceptable in Nastia-world.

      • doughnut sundae Says:

If it is not something that can be seen on TV or read in traditional media outlets, hey, it’s news to me! When you and TCO talk about how dysfunctional Team USA had been on the road to Beijing, four names inevitably pop up: Nastia and Shawn, Shayla and Alicia.

So it was surprising to hear that Nastia would lash out at Chellsie. I mean, even with TV cameras shadowing girls like unwanted siblings, Chellsie seems like the kind of girl who would not give you the dignity of a locker room ass beating.

      • Sandy Says:

I wish someone would fill me in on the Shayla and Alicia stories…heard references to those two but nothing concrete. I’m really curious!

      • JAS4 Says:

I don’t know about ASac but here is the link to gymtruthtellers blog post awhile back with a link to a picture of Sam, Nastia, and Shayla and they are talkin about Shawn and didn’t even bother to delete the comments

  12. TCO Says:

Marta just wants to pick the team that will do best numerically.

If Jana had not fallen TWICE, she would have been a 2008 Olympian and Sam Pezzzek would have been an alternate.

    It’s all about performance.

If SJ turns into the old SJ (basically another Weiber) than Marta will want her.

If Nastia can slut out some 7.7 bar routine, Marta will want her.

    It’s just about the numbers…

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Tell that to Sabrina Vega. She was only put on the world team because of who her coach was.

      • Sandy Says:

I’m not so sure on that one…Vega was pretty consistent at Jesolo last year, and her beam score was very very close to Aly’s in Team Finals. They were almost equal. Her bars is pretty, too – she scores well with the international judges. If Vega could up her difficulty on floor and more on bars and do a better vault, she’d more likely be in the mix for an AA position. However from what I’ve heard about the camps she hasn’t been doing that well recently so I’m doubting she will have a real shot at the Olympics…

      • doughnut sundae Says:

If I were Sabrina’s coaches, I would be heartbroken, bitter and angry. Non-scoring athletes should be hometown favorites in my opinion. And the American Cup was in the Gardens – Manhattan – Sabrina’s haunt.

Even if she were still in the conditioning phase of her training, she should have been invited to perform at least one event for her family and friends to see, and for her gym to be recognized locally and nationally.

  13. Shawn Fan! Says:

After Jordyn (or Jo as other girls refer to her as) won the AA, from what I’ve read in Marta’s interviews, I thought Marta was the one who spoke up for Kyla and said how impressive Kyla’s performance was. She also said Kyla was the one who got the highest score at the last verification camp. I know….I’m defending Marta….gross…….

I thought Kyla floor exercise during event finals was underscored?!? her landings were clean. I also don’t know what I think about her routine….I mean, I want to like it, but it’s a bit awkward at times…..it’s like she’s trying to BE the phantom of the opera with her hand gestures with the air cape, but she’s also trying to be Christine, the Phantom’s love interest, as well.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

I am not a big fan of the floor routine but I think I liked it better the third time I watched it. I also agree she was underscored in the event finals.

  14. Aerial Says:

I am really interested to see how they compete Finnegan at Jesolo. Part of me wonders if they’ll take a brand-new senior with less experience/accolades than Kyla for the Olympic team, but she did well at camp, and if she competes really well against the others from now on, who knows? Especially if someone gets broken? We’ve got to think about other possibilities if a wrench is thrown into things.

Finnegan is GORgeous and I bet the international judges will love her… if she hits, obv. Part of me wants those who have labored for years to be rewarded, but part of me is rooting for newer ‘beauties’… I’m a sucker for a beautiful dancer or even someone who sells everything they do with great energy and dynamic movements.

    • Sandy Says:

Not sure Finnegan has enough difficulty in her bars to be declared an UB specialist…she would likely not be an AA contender but definitely could be a specialist on at least beam…hrm…I’m thinking Finnegan belongs in the “most likely to get screwed over by Nastia” group…

      • Aerial Says:

Could be so, could be so. Longshot, but I do expect her to come on strong after all the people hanging on till these Olympics move on. Looking forward to seeing her at Championships. (on TV, haha.)

      • Sandy Says:

I would hope if she doesn’t make the London team she’ll hang on and give Ms. Ohashi a run for her money.šŸ™‚

      • doughnut sundae Says:

Although I’d like to think otherwise, odds are Katelyn won’t be around in four years.

The progressions for the skills she is throwing (and plans to throw) are dangerous. The skills themselves are dangerous. Connecting those skills is hazardous. And putting them together this early in the season seems ridiculous, even for a prodigy.

If injury does not sabotage her career, the fear of it will. And, of course, there is puberty…

      • JAS4 Says:

Yeah I worry that they are upgrading her too soon if her goal is 2016 they need to slow down and pace her upgrades if they want to keep her healthy

      • Sandy Says:

Yeah you’re definitely right about that…all those stunts aren’t working out well for Rebecca Bross – she’s always over-tired and fighting some sort of injury or another. Yet she was all the hype in 2009. I guess I can’t blame the over-hype of WOGA gymnasts though because at this point, WOGA “did” develop the last two Olympic AA champions. That is pretty amazing. However, after this Olympics I’m absolutely sure that their “winning streak” will be over. I actually hope that 2016 doesn’t have any WOGA gymnasts (sorry, Bross) but Marta is obviously playing favorites with Valerie…and yes, this is worrisome for Aly and Kyla.

I also find it odd that Douglas is termed a “headcase,” ummm, what about Bross? She gave Sloane the world championship gold medal in 2009 on a silver platter (fell on floor even though she was in the lead), she fell off the beam in Worlds 2010, and fell all over the place during Nationals 2011 – including crashing and injuring herself on vault. She barely EVER lands her Patterson cleanly (why the hell do they make her have this dismount off beam???) and it seems every time I watch her it makes me anxious.

      • Shawn Fan! Says:

I hope Bross will not make the olympics…..mostly because I find Valerie uber creepy……

I also agree that if we are calling Douglas a “headcase”, then what would that make Bross?!? I read somewhere that she had a clean bar set at last camp, but I recall watching a video of her falling off bars at this year’s WOGA. Bross screwed up at *2* world championships, and Gaby had 1 bad meet so far.

The only thing that really bugs me about Gaby is how inconsistent her hair weave is! Decide on one already! it’s like she grew a ferret on the back of her head between scam cup and pac rims!

    • gymtruthteller Says:

She reminds me of Courtney and that didn’t work out well for Marta. The Gage girls are all beautiful gymnasts.

  15. doughnut sundae Says:

I have a confession to make. Until I saw this video, I had never even heard of Kyla Ross. But I had known about Katelyn Ohashi for years. And it seems I wasn’t the only one blinded by ignorance. Marta had never heard of her either! (j/k)

Kyla is not very charismatic, and I think this is her biggest hurdle. True, she is talented. But it helps when the first impression audiences and judges have of you is your celebrity. (Look at how graciously Gabby was scored at Pac Rims after the American Cup ‘rivalry’.) If Kyla goes to the Olympics, Marta may have to manufacture a scandal to get this girl some notoriety.

    • JAS4 Says:

      That video was hilarious!

    • gymtruthteller Says:

That is the Woga hype machine. Kyla has always just been the girl with nice form, beautiful leaps that hits.

      • JAS4 Says:

Is it just me or are most of the WOGA gymnast all though good gymnast are generally over hyped gymnast?

      • Exgymgurl Says:

2005 was nastias coming out year chellsie beat her. Thats it. Then nastia made all those motions and rules about things to USGA thar you reported a year ago and we decided it was a keep chellsie off the 2012 team or did i dream those rules. Honest well read blogs like this obe are the only reason Nastias actions are being questioned. Im 99% sure shes out and is being given the opportunity to walk away gracefully. Shawn is so far above Nastia and all of them, if she does this its on her…. Asac is out too i think. Theres too much strength in this quad.

      • Sandy Says:

What rules did Nastia make up? I’m curious to hear this…I heard from one of you that Nastia called Chellsie fat after Chellsie beat her? Did Nastia mess up at all in ’05 worlds? I guess I should go back and watch.

    • Gymbee Says:

Love that video, so funny! Had no idea there was this whole controversy with Chellsie and Nastia! Not surprised though!

  16. JAS4 Says:

More Shawn and ASac tweeting wonder if they really get along and are friends now or if they’ve decided to band together against the newbies or to fight to be on the team against getting screed for Nastia or something lol

    • Shawn Fan! Says:

Ugh, do we really need to see ASac at another olympics? I don’t dislike her or anything, but she did have a major fall not once, but *twice* at the ’08 TF. Why aren’t we calling ASac a headcase! Yes, it’s true that all these mathematicians came out of the woodwork to claim that even without her falls USA could not have beaten team China, but at least we could’ve had a clean (without major errors) showing.

      • JAS4 Says:

I’m not saying ASac comeback from the Achilles injury is impossible look at Courtney in 04 but if she wants to make the team I think she needs to get it together and fast

    • Sandy Says:

Yeah I noticed the ASac/Shawn love. I think now that they are virtually in the same boat they can find something in common…and Shawn is too good to not forgive ASac, while ASac probably figures if she buddies up to Shawn it wouldn’t hurt that whole “retirement” scenario I had envisioned – if both of them don’t make London there will be LOTS of media exposure there for sure (the media LOVES both of them) and so best to buddy up at this point. Although I am still hoping Shawn can make it. I will be sad if she doesn’t – I was one of those hoping she’d make a comeback, and when she finally did I was so happy about it, but not happy that she had to get injured to do it in the first place…anyways…

Courtney Kupets did come back from that injury however her games weren’t nearly what they should have been because of that injury. In fact you might be able to argue that Marta taking her cost the US the gold team medal. She ended up not doing beam because her leg was bothering her (so they had Mohini do beam as a last minute sub…sigh….which didn’t get nearly a good score because Mohini did not have the difficulty) and Courtney screwed up royally on floor, falling out of a turn. Still not sure what the story really is on why Marta benched Courtney McCool – did she really have a breakdown? I was reading articles much later about how angry she was to be benched and her father wrote some article bashing Marta for putting an injured Kupets on the floor when they could have used McCool…

Anyways, I’m sure a whole blog could be written on how Marta cost USA team gold in 2004 – (oh, and why didn’t they put Terin on floor in finals??? She was on the world team in 2003 BECAUSE of her floor…) ok yeah I need to shut up because we’re clearly in 2012. I’m just hoping Marta doesn’t pull her “magic” and cost USA the gold again this year…although I’m almost sure that will happen…and she’ll CONTINUE to be the team coordinator…

Another Marta pet peeve: the woman has been in the US for HOW LONG???? WHY can’t she speak clear English by now? You still need a translator every time that woman speaks!!!

Yeah I really hope Shawn is able to make the team too and also I hope Marta puts people on the team that deserve to go and doesn’t screw anyone over for Nastia or her other favorites which would screw them out of the team gold especially if there were injuries and Nastia was on the team and she can’t fill in for vault

anyone know what the deductions were for Gabby’s UB event finals? I can’t figure out where the .4 deduction came from…..perhaps I was distracted by how great that purple leotard looked on gabby during EF.

“@NastiaLiukin: Everybody’s waiting for you to breakdown. Everybody’s watching to see the fallout. Even when you’re sleeping, keep your eyes open…”
This is from twitter and I realize it’s song lyrics but her posting it definitely makes it look like she is a little paranoid lol she probably knows pretty much every other gymnast in the Olympic mix wants her to quit so she is feeling a little insecure

NO ONE would be waiting for her to break down if she was actually working as hard as everyone else. The fact that she is half assing this comeback and getting special treatment from Marta at the expense of these kids that have been working their butts off for years for this one moment in time rubs people the wrong way.

      • JAS4 Says:

Yeah I still wouldn’t be surprised if she announces she is quitting so that the other girls can have their dream (in her mind it has nothing to do with the fact that she spent all her time on tv instead of training) but I kind of think if we see her at trails and she doesn’t announce she is quitting it will be because Marta has already told her she will be on the team if she does quit it will be because she didn’t have anything together at all and Marta can’t use her for a bars specialist lol but this is Marta and Nastia we are talking about if Nastia gets on the bars and does a couple of giants Marta will put her on the team

Does anyone know if there will be TV or an internet stream of Jesolo?

  20. annonymous Says:

    ugh I meant TV coverage

  21. JAS4 Says:

Paul is retiring if it were Nastia it would be a much bigger glamorous announcement lol

Good riddance. He will be remembered for having and keeping a gold medal he did not deserve.
