Rebecca Bross has never been consistent

After this article by Blythe from Gym Examiner the lunatics are out blaming everyone under the sun for Rebecca’s injury. It’s Valeri’s fault (partially) Marta’s fault (not at all. Heck it is even Rebecca Bross’s fault (um duh) but I have one question for all the people out there freaking out because an athlete got hurt competing a sport, WHEN THE HELL WAS REBECCA BROSS NOT A HEAD CASE?

I feel the need to scream this because some people like Dominique Moceanu and her crazy husband are already starting the witch hunt for Marta Karoyli’s head.

The fact is Rebecca Bross has always been a head case. An injury waiting to happen. She falls every competition. It was only a matter of time that she was going to blow a knee cap or break her knee.

I agree on 1 premise. Its gymnastics, a sport where injuries are inevitable. Also, her dble full has always been a little suspect. Her lack of amplitude off the table makes it diff. To finish her twisting. However, I find it hard and a bit unrealistic to categorize her as a headcase. In fact, she’s one of the most head strong girls out there. It’s her competitive drive that enabled her to fight after falling all over in day one and the rotation b4 the injuries on vault. She’s really a tough kid and her results speak for themselves. Too strong willed for her own good? Maybe. Inconsistent? At times, but not any more than Nastia. Its been the MO of woga for both jrs n sr…do hard diff. Until it gets consistent. That recipe has made woga girls look vulnerable and inconsistent, but its the same ingredient that made Bross a world silver AA medalist.

Gym fan, Would you still be saying that if we were in the old code? Would Bross still be this loved by the people in charge if falling mattered anymore?

I thank you for your comments but I don’t agree with them. Bross always falls. At least once. She fell 3 times on night one.

You’re comments make me sick. The system is so screwed up. You’re just like the rest of them….it’s all about winning and not the welfare of the athletes. These poor girls aren’t allowed to make their own decisions. They’re robots controlled by USAG and Marta. Dominique’s right….they need to go.

Marta is at fault because Bross can’t execute a vault she has been doing for 3 years? Bull shit.

Chellsie stopped competing when she hurt her shoulder and was still named to the National team. Blaming Marta is stupid.

Blame the FIG. They created this code. Marta just picks the team.

Dominque is right? Are you smoking crack cocaine?

Is it an Olympic year already. Time for Domo to run her mouth.

  4. dd Says:

If she was a 17 year old boy nothing would be said at all about her injury. It would just be what happens.

Rebeccas dad is a known stage mom. She probably competed all 4 events because of him.

For once I said something nice about her.

Plus I linked you in my big confession, which probably won’t get posted till later tonight.

Are you smoking crack with Moceanu?

Bross was not right at classics and not ready. Bross could have quit after prelims and still proved readiness for worlds at camp. She didnt need to be competing she needed to be resting. I dont like her fugly gymnastics but shes won more in this quad than anyone else in the US. That gives her a pass one she didnt use. Im
sorry i predicted an atleresque meltdown that is unfolding right in front of all of us. I saw it in the bars video at classics

  9. Erin Says:

Wow, could you be any more shallow? Bross wasn’t able to execute that vault because she was clearly not in physical shape…she grew a couple of inches and gained weight, plus she was out for what, 5 months due to a stress fracture on her ankle? In podium training, it looked like she was still adjusting to her new center of balance on beam. She looked physically and emotionally exhausted; you’d have to be an idiot not to notice that. Even Dr. Nasar from USAG questioned Valeri on the safety of her competing vault…it was under rotated in podium training, and Valeri had to continuously help her get it to her feet. Her prelims vault was one step away from being the disaster that finals was. She shouldn’t have been competing vault at all, but was probably pushed from above, from both Valeri and Marta. Bross has been competing for Team USA for years, and at last years’ World in team finals, she scored the highest on both balance beam and bars despite dealing with an aching stress reaction. Yes, she’s had trouble in individual finals, but we probably wouldn’t have been as close to gold last year as we were without her. I’m not reading your blog anymore.

First of all the Nassar info came from facebook stalkers. So if anyone is an idiot for not stalking facebook then so be it.
Second, Bye!!!!! I don’t write this blog for anyone but myself. If no one made a comment ever I would still be writing it.

Izbasa rests and sits out romanian nationals

  12. TCO Says:

It was a bad coaching decision by Valeri. I’m the first to be a hardass and hold the gymnast accountable, but this was a bad coaching move. Like when Tony Romo threw a screen pass at the end of the first half against Washington last year and DHall took it to the house. Just unwise and not worth the risk/reward.

    P.s. Steven made world team.

  13. Exgymgurl Says:

Anyone think bross was afraid if she said no i need to stop she would end up like mckenzie wofford? I think Bross started melting down about the time Wofford left for zenith… We all know from reports valeri pushed mckenzie when she was super sick…. And when she finally said no stop….

  14. gymtruthteller Says:

That’s a good point. I have heard Rumors (and not from ig) about the Liukin family having a rough time the last few months and everyone speculated it had to do with her mother. So maybe Valeri’s mind is in a different place at the moment.

For all we know it could be a divorce in the waiting but the people at IG had Nastia’s mom on her death bed. PURE speculation because I know when my mother was on her death bed I wasn’t running around at gymnastics competitions looking for attention like Nastia was at Nationals.

  15. Exgymgurl Says:

Nastias twitter was cryptic with pictures of her mom…. I think thats where the IG rumors came from. Nastias mom probably told her chin up but i dont think its that I think its the Wofford effect, ivana Hong declared Stanford about that time frame as well..i think he made bad calls with Atler in 2000 and started the same deal with wofford and it impacted other gymnasts. Look what a mess Christa Tanella is at Georgia….
