SP Results

When Phil is right boy is he is right the problem is he is usually wrong. I would like to disagree with him here but I can’t.

Having the worlds in Russia is a travesty. They cheat. It is disgusting how blatantly they cheat and their skaters suck. Both of them suck. That might be cruel but Alena Leonova is like watching a poor women’s Irina Slutskaya without the jumping talent. Ksenia Makarova being in the position she is in is hilarious. She isn’t good enough to be a US skater but competing in Russia makes her the worlds 3rd best SP? LMAO um no.

Alissa Czisny is kind of like a broken clock. She is right twice a day. Problem with Alissa is when she needs to hit she doesn’t. She had some issues in her SP but it isn’t an Olympic year so all we know for sure is she might stand up. She might fall. If it was an Olympic year she would be on her ass.

LOVE the dress. Like the music and to be fair her only real issue was missing the combination where she didn’t attempt the second jump so she could do it later. It’s hard to argue she was so bad she didn’t deserve to be near the top because most of her skating is light years ahead of everyone else but I agree with what Phil said about Miki.

Miki was Miki. Consistent if not a little boring. Mao was a mess. Missed two of her 3 jumps?

Rachael Flatt is injured. If she did not double the triple lutz she would be in third place right now. Apparently she got level 4 for her step sequence

I will not even bother to talk about the ridiculous scoring of useless Carolina Kostner.

Worlds sucks. You know what sucks worse? any skating competitions in Russia.

I am pretty sure I wrote this blog last year. Only difference is this year Alissa won Nationals and now I am beside myself.

I watched the LP’s tonight without sound. That was kind of fun.

I listened to Janet Jackson’s Again for Alissa. Whitney Houston’s I have nothing for Mirai and Taylors Swifts That’s the way I love you for Rachael Flatt. Then I thought how appropriate for Alissa and Mirai. They lived up to their songs. Mirai leaves Nationals with no World Championships and Alissa won back her title, Again. Rachael’s song didn’t live up to her though. That LP wasn’t fun without music.

Okay so Alissa is our hope for 3 spots next year. She also just hit two competitions in a row. Anyone remember when that happened last? I am thinking 5 years ago. She then tanked the Olympic trials/Nationals.

Mirai must have had some huge downgrades with that LP. My guess is she missed something and lost points for something. Damn new code.

The good news about this years National Championships? No Emily Hughes. That in itself gives Nationals a passing grade for me.

I Literally have tears in my eyes laughing at the comments by Dick Button at 134. The conversation starts at 123 with Peggy and ends with Dick Button at 135.

This is the Dickie I love and always will love. Telling it like it is.

An Interesting read

Here is a blog by Rachael Flatt’s coach Tom Zakrajsek. He wrote it during the Olympics. I must say he took Rachael’s downgrades in stride. This is a pretty interesting read.
I like how he pointed out the judges were full of BS without calling them on it. Smart Man. Worlds is coming up.

The news of Mrs Rochette’s death made the nightly news here in the US. Not sure which channel I heard it from the other room.

Here is my first entry the adorable Timmy Thomas but today with a heavy heart I do a second version of my new series “Who to root for at the winter Olympics”

I am not a big fan of Canadians in general. Too many of them come to the United States, make their fortunes and then bad mouth us like there is no tomorrow (I mean you Arvil Lavine AND Wayne Gretzky) but for some reason I teared up when I read that Canada’s Joannie Rochette’s mother died suddenly. I am usually against sap stories but for some reason the un expected death of a mother whose daughter is about to compete in the Olympics with a real shot at a medal pulled at my heart strings. (yes I have a heart)

Joannie has been around for many years. I am sure she is a lot older then I think she is but she has always been a kid in my mind. Always close to a medal but not quite there due to inconsistency Joannie finally won a medal at last years World Championships. She finished 5th at the last Olympics and many (me included) think she should have been on the podium in Torino.

Good luck to Joannie and my sympathies to her family.

Also added. I am still for fair judging and as sad as I am for Joannie she can win this medal in her own right. Judges need to do the right thing here and score fairly.

Congrats to Apolo Ohno’s 7th Winter Olympics medal. 2 Gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze. That sounded so familiar to me and then I realized that is Shannon Miller’s medal count.

Evil Nastia Liukin plots to take over the universe

Yes I know I had that headline before but you know what I might just have been wrong about Evan. Maybe it is Nastia using Evan. Maybe all these lovey dovey twitter comments about Evan are Nastia using Evan more then Evan using Nastia? Maybe Nastia knows exactly what she is doing.

I was all ready to praise Nastia for letting Evan have his Olympic moment. I even almost started a blog about it but since that time I have read two articles with Nastia commenting on Evan and him winning and her agent even arrived in Vancouver just in time to rope Access Hollywood into doing a story about Nastia.

I apologize Evan. You aren’t the evil man making the poor little princess believe you are straight. It’s the other way around. Nastia knows you are gay and she has warmed her way into your heart to steal the worlds attention. Those silly kids.

More whiny Russians Oh it happened. You lost and the fact that you act like Irina Slutskaya (waiting until she got home to whine to the Russian media) makes me laugh. You can’t even be man about it 30 years later? Pathetic.

Gym musings,Mens SP and there is no crying in Figure Skating

Alicia Sacramone wasn’t at the current camp because she is on vacation . I guess she isn’t training as much as she has led us to believe because I don’t know of any gymnast seriously training that would take a vacation over seas. Then again she doesn’t have a competition coming up anytime soon. I hope she at least is on vacation with cutie boyfriend Brady Quinn:)

Nastia is at the Olympics supporting her boyISH friend but while his parents and family sat in one place Nastia sat with an NBC Universal employee. Lets just say her outfit was not fasionastica to match FanNastica.

Sasha Cohen will be doing some work for Yahoo. GROSS. Gotta love how Yahoo picks it’s former athletes. It’s like they pick from the second best group. 1st Dominique Dawes and Now Sasha. BLAH. I need a good nick name for Cohen.lol

Results of mens SP

Okay on to the Men’s Short program. Only 3 men scored over 90 points and Evgeni Plushenko and his mouth occupy the top 25 spots:)
Seriously that isn’t true but Plushenko is in first with Evan in second and the sublime Daisuke Takahasi behind in third. IMO Daisuke should have been in first place with Evan close behind but Plushy did nothing but skate around and jump. His marks seem a biiiit high to me.

Johnny Weir is in 6th after lipping his flip but other wise I think he was underscored a bit on the PCS. Jeremy Abbot imploaded (OMG I never saw THAT coming NOT) Patrick Chan was a mess and I can’t figure out how he is ahead of Weir but whatever. Hee

This is the first time in a long time that I have nothing invested in the rest of the skating events. I don’t care who wins. I don’t want anyone to fall. I don’t even care if Russia sweeps the rest of the events if they deserve it. I had the best time watching the Olympics last night. Even the overscoring of Plushenko didn’t annoy me. This feeling rocks:)

Spoiler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shen and Zhao

Well I turned on the Olympics to watch Shen and Zhao. Watched them. The doorbell rang and I got to the see the first American pair. I was sitting down to dinner and got to see the second American pair. I then watched the Russians fall and saw the other two Chinese teams and German pair. Pretty good luck tonight and I was even trying.lol

Watching Shen and Zhao I thought they were scored a little generous. Then watching the rest of the competiton made me realize they deserved that and some with the crap performance that the other skaters did. It just didn’t compare to Shen and Zhao I am sorry but overall even with the one scratchy landing I can’t believe the scores are so close.

Any hoot here are the full results and all I have to say is Shen and Zhao better not get screwed over in the LP.

I am sure by now you know what he did. He sent e-mail’s out to the judges telling them to not over score the European skaters. Sure that makes him sound like an idiot but I could care less.
