Who’s in this competition that I would care about? lol. I’m out of it.

  2. Exgymgurl Says:

    EBee…..

  3. Exgymgurl Says:

    Larissa

  4. Exgymgurl Says:

    Teramoto, Ferrari,

  5. sainabou nyang Says:

So if Ebee wins this meet as well you think Marta will try to screw her out if a chance to compete at the scam?

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Kyla and Simone will do scam if healthy. Ebee will be third option

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I’m sure Marta will have a competition/death camp before SCAM, and someone will be injured. Last leo standing. McKayla really needs to go balls to the wall. Her vault is not going to save her this quad.

      • JAS4 Says:

I think McKayla will need to upgrade both vaults or become a better AA gymnast to keep up this quad if she can get the TTY or upgrade her second vault to a Cheng that would help too

      • Catherine Says:

There is no way her second vault is upgrading, I don’t know what happened but the block is awful, completely wonky. She lands it through sheer power, because the block really lets it down. Watch it and then watch Simone’s block on her half-on, it’s textbook.

McKayla currently has a knee injury, minor though. I can see a TTY not being far-fetched though, especially if she regains the height she had on the amanar in 2012. If she’s healthy for Nanning then she’s going nowhere. She is a huge vault TF score and guaranteed EF medal who should be able to make her mark in a floor final too. She’s very experienced and it counts for a lot.

      • sainabou nyang Says:

It will be telling what if any intl assignments ebee gets next year. The Jesolo meets are just blah and should be used for the girls who dont have much experience. Ebee should be fighting for a spot on the pac rims team.

      • Catherine Says:

I don’t think it much matters? Last year Maroney, Raisman and Ross were on the Jesolo team. There’s SCAM, Jesolo and Pac Rims :D so I think everyone will have something. Even Skinner, at least let the girl try..

      • sainabou nyang Says:

I have to say that I want to see how Skinner does in an intl meet.
She has so much talent, but I hate how she is chucking skills with bad form.

  6. Exgymgurl Says:

I think its funny that Brenna said a big FU to Marta on Mexico and we lost the AA….. I think these are probably EBees last big international competitions.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

It does not say much about Maggie and Peyton that they lost to a no name gymnast.

      • Catherine Says:

She’s a bigger name than Maggie certainly, if not Peyton too. There’s a hype around Roxana for a good reason.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

No offense but no. Roxana is by birth Romanian so that is why she is loved by association. Fans insist on creating stars from teams when they don’t have any. Larissa is great on beam and floor but she does not live up to the past Romanian gymnasts but she still gets credit for whatever because she is Romanian. I like Larissa but being 5th best at last years worlds does not compare to what the 80′s gymnasts had to compete against and I feel that way about the US success stories of the last few years too. If Simone, Kyla, Nastia, Alicia and Shawn had to compete AA with the depth of the 80′s and 90′s they wouldn’t be as successful. The difficulty is better now but the technique and artistry and execution etc…. of today is weak.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

You should totally write a blog on this. It would be epic.

Think it speaks to the way the sport is going too. All focus on difficulty puts some true artistic gymnasts out of the playing field. Sigh.

      • Catherine Says:

You’re right her origin has helped. But she was and is a strong competitor for girls like Peyton and Maggie. Peyton is sloppy and inconsistent, Maggie just isn’t there yet. Roxana has a lot of difficulty. The result was not a surprise to me, or to many outside of the US. Big surprise on twitter, many congratulated Maggie before Roxana’s score came in.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

There are plenty of people inside the US who don’t just think highly of US gymnasts. I am one of them but that doesn’t change my opinion on Roxana. Maggie is a future College gymnast. Peyton is not really sloppy but she surely is very inconsistent and I don’t expect either gymnast to ever make a World team but Roxana is not even close to being as good as you claim she is.

      • Catherine Says:

I just think Roxana is a better gymnast than both girls, currently, and so she proved. It wasn’t a surprise. Peyton and Maggie are definitely not a-team.

      • Exgymgurl Says:

Thats my point. This is the second time Peyton has lost internationally to a non american. I think it says Peyton will not go to Rio. She flakes and falls. Maggie will be a good college gymnast but doesnt strike me as being the “best” elite we have. If you rank now it would be $imoney, Kyla, McKayla, Brenna, EBee. I guess Peyton and Maggie are next in that. Skinner Desch Millett Baker. Louisville KY for 2014 Nationals. I don’t think they could have picked a lamer more boring city. the most Intersting thing is a baseball bat museum. SNORE.

  7. Catherine Says:

If anyone wants to know about China’s juniors, I posted about them here- http://beautifulgymnastics.blogspot.ie/2013/12/spread-love-for-china.html

Note the title though – it’s positive and I will delete any age remarks :p

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Catherine, how do you know so much? Lol I don’t even know this much about the US girls much less the Chinese (seems to always be a shroud of secrecy with them). That’s amazing.

      • Catherine Says:

Some awesome sources have helped a lot since China is secretive for sure and there are big gaps with videos. The US would be much easier to write on but I already did them last year haha :p I did a (very bad) China then so this is the correction sorta. It is just disappointing to see a lot about other country’s juniors and nothing on China’s. They are FABULOUS.

    • Exgymgurl Says:

Awesome. I won’t even make an age joke ;-)

    • GymAnon Says:

Catherine, thank you so much for writing that! I don’t know much about Team China so your posts are always appreciated.

  8. nero Says:

Larry Nassar was on Gymcastic and dropped that Shawn never tore her ACL, it was only her meniscus. Obviously he would know and have insight so if that is 100% true then I think that is pretty deplorable on Shawn’s part. I always felt Shawn was using her injury to drum up sympathy, which I guess I could understand, but I never would have guessed that an elite athlete that everyone holds in such high esteem would completely fabricate the extent of her injury.

Also it was very interesting his explanation on using alternates. Apparently at the Olympics when a gymnast is replaced, and this just happens in gymnastics, they are completely wiped from the record books. They have to hand in all of their warmups, credentials and everything and it’s like they never existed.

This is a USOC decision and USAG has fought to get rid of this rule to no avail. So they feel that if a gymnast on the team gets hurt, they have felt it’s better to keep her on the team and just not use her than bring in an alternate and have the gymnast that made the team ‘disappear’. That’s why there have been no alternates brought in since the 2000 Olympics.

He also wants to bring back compulsories!!

    • Karlie Says:

My understanding was that the meniscus was the only thing that was fully ruptured/torn and therefore operated on – the ACL and MCL were slight partial tears which aren’t usually surgically repaired (only full ruptures are repaired – partial tears are left to heal on their own because you can’t operate on a partially-torn ligament. I can explain this further if you’re interested but it doesn’t seem really necessary). Thus she technically didn’t have a full ACL tear, just a slight one. So the rehab she had was shorter than if she’d had a full ACL rupture (usually 9+ months), but longer than if it was just a meniscus tear (which usually takes one to two months, tops, to recover from). Shawn was in rehab for about six months, which is what one would expect for meniscus surgery + healing time for the partial tear. In her initial blog, I believe she called it a “slight partial ACL tear” and a full meniscus tear.

HOWEVER, she definitely referred to it as an ACL tear in interviews and didn’t bother to correct interviewers on that particular point.

The catch here is that a partially-torn ligament that has healed will always be somewhat inherently unstable – more so than if it had been completely surgically regrafted (aka ACL surgery). So it’s actually understandable if Johnson’s knee was still bothering her after she recovered, and it’ll probably continue to be unstable in jumping/twisting unless she tears it fully and has it repaired. That said, I do think her quitting was probably more of the realization that she wasn’t going to make the Olympic team, combined with the knee.

FYI – this is mainly speculation combined with my own experience as a med school student/college soccer player – I’ve torn my ACL, MCL, and meniscus (and hamstring/hip labrum…woot)

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Who cares if they are wiped from the record books. Do you really buy the don’t bring in alternates for that reason? I don’t.

I am actually about to listen to this because I want to hear about the Vanessa Atler letter she wrote to someone. I don’t know the whole story.

As for Shawn I don’t think its right for Larry to be discussing medical issues with the public. Doctors need to shut up and keep their patients medical record confidential. Can’t he be sued for leaking out this info? Every gymnast exaterates injuries remember Nastia’s fake injury excuse from last years trials.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

        what about this Atler letter?

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Vanessa went to Larry and asked him about switching to Bela as a coach. He never said Bela was abusive. He claims Vanessa made that up. She wrote a letter to someone (I forget who) claiming she was lied to by everyone. By Bela, By Bob Colorassi and by Larry

      • tulip Says:

I would be believe Vanessa about those three lying. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose by being honest.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Mentally the kids are safer but emotionally the games are still being played.

    • gymtruthteller Says:

Anyone that defends Marta loses me. Marta still plays head games with kids for her own amusement.

This interviewer has the most annoying phony ass kissing voice.

DR Larry says Marta makes the coaches not push the athlete. That is such bull shit. So Wofford nearly throwing up and being sick and being forced to practice is resting what again?

I wish he would get to the Atler part so I can shut off this bull shit. All of these interviews sound like Marta is the head of Scientology and these minions are the crazy Kirstie Alley’s.

Here is the BS of we don’t bring in alternates because the poor gymnast won’t get mentioned again. I can’t believe anyone else buys this bull shit. When has Marta cared about a child’s emotional welfare?

They pushed Morgan too much and that is why she was injured by the Olympics. Funny how they did the same to Memmel and Peszek in 2008 and they broke during the Olympics. A difference of a few weeks. I guess things have not changed.

Spill it Larry.lol “Trust issues” “Individual gymnast that uh, uh, created a situation that placed myself and couple other key people in transititoon, when Bela was no longer gonna coach an individual athlete ( Atler but not spoken) wrote a letter saying she wanted to leave her coach and have Bela be her coach. Mom c alled. Kid called. Explained to kid. Not allowed because of new rules) Number 2- not good to leave your coach this soon before Olympics. Number 3- They think the coach is excelent and has a lot to offer, number 4- if you leave it will just be you Marta and Bela at old ranch and would have no teamamtes. The reason Marta and Bela are what they are is they work harder then anyone. You are better off staying where you are. She then wrote a letter , when she found out it was not allowed she wrote to usa-gym that Colorassi and Bela lied to her, That Dr Larry tried to deter her to go to Bela because he was abusive. Bela got a copy of the letter and said it was a lie, Bob Colorassi said it was a lie. Bela assumed that what was written about Larry was true yet everything else was wrong. That is why he wasn’t trusted. Bela thought he was telling people he was abusive.

This pretty much says Vanessa was blackballed off the 2000 Olympic team. It sure sounds that way even though I never would have taken the headcase.

Now DR Larry is trying to say that emotiOWnal well being is the number 1 thing that USA-Gym cares about. Really because head games were just played 2 MONTHS AGO.

I swear the right hand has no clue what the left hand is doing. We the fans know this is bull shit. How can he sit up there and even pretend this is how the gymnasts are treated when we have so much proof that isn’t true.

Now he is saying Vanessa (not named but we know who this is) was decitphil to herself, her parents, the coaches, administration because she couldn’t be honest with herself and because of that he suffered for over a year. Gymnast has to be honest to themselves.

See’s a lot of parents blames coaches for failure. Tells parents do you want me to call child services. You’re the parents. If you knew your kid was hurt and you chose not to seek medical attention than whose to blame? You chose not to do what was right for your child. (While I agree with this lets not pretend the coach is not partially to blame. They knew too) Parents don’t need to micro manage (they don’t need to no reps they did) and they need to listen, support and nourish them not coach them.

      Does he believe this?

Now there is doc talk zZzZzZzZzZzZZZZzzzzzzzz ACL talk ZzZzZzZzZzzzzzzz

Gym had nothing to do with Shawn’s injury. She didn’t tear her ACL only her miniscus. (sp) Who ever came up with that myth was smoking something.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Oops I didn’t see your entire comment feed into my email until I read it on the site.

I’m kind of confused about this letter story. Atler wanted to leave her coach for Bella but Nassar was trying to persuade her to not go to Bella because he’s abusive? And then Atler tried to go around Nassar via the letter? Is that what this is driving at?

So why was Atler black balled if she wanted Bella to coach her? I’m super confused, sorry. I wasn’t paying attention much to gymnastics in 1999/2000.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

The rumor back in the day was that Vanessa was going to be coached by Bela but he wanted the job of being Head bitch in charge of all of USA-Gymnastics (Being Marta) so he turned her down.

What Larry said is Vanessa wanted to be coached by Bela but couldn’t be because he was already in charge of the camp system. DR Larry claims he tried to talk Vanessa out of being coached by Bela but saying that Bela and Marta worked harder than anyone else and that she would have to work that hard too if she wanted to be coached by him. He also said her coaches were some of the best so she should stay with them.

Apparently when Vanessa did not get her own way she wrote a letter to USA-Gymnastics claiming she was lied to by Bela, Bob Colorossi and everyone else.

All I know is it is highly suspicious that Vanessa’s old coach is in charge with Marta right now. Its almost like they sold Vanessa Atler out (in return getting Jamie Dantzscher onto the team) so he would have a future with USA-Gymnastics.

      • sanitynmotion Says:

Interesting. Sounds like the typical cluster of USAG.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

        Clusterfuck :)

      • sanitynmotion Says:

I have such a trucker’s mouth I try not to spread it to this blog “too” much…

      • gymtruthteller Says:

Me too. Potty mouth is my middle name

    • sanitynmotion Says:

Ooooh thanks for this tid bit nero.

I’m liking Larry Nassar for the compulsories, and interesting about the alternate thing. I had no idea, and now it makes complete sense. It sucks going forward though that now there are only 5 on the Olympic team, if two are injured there’s a high probability one will have to get “erased” whereas we had 2 injured in Beijing and Marta was able to use the 4 others for the team finals.

Doesn’t make sense about Shawn lying about the extent of her injury, and this was before she came back, right? That she said she tore both her ACL and meniscus?

I had a feeling all this time anyway that her retirement before going after another Olympic team had nothing to do with her knee injury but she made it about that to save face for USAG (that’s kind of what I think anyway) and also her sponsors so she didn’t look like a quitter. She knew she wasn’t making that team even if (unlike Nastia) she had gone in and competed at Trials and killed it.

      • gymtruthteller Says:

That is exactly how I feel. Shawn knew she wasn’t making the team after she hit at camp and they still used Sabrina Vega over her. There is no way Marta could name her to the World team and not name her to the Olympic team. Media wouldn’t let that happen.

      • Karlie Says:

think Shawn would have gotten the Memmel treatment if she’d fucked up at nationals, or would she have been too popular for that to fly?

      • gymnastwannabe Says:

Wasn’t Nastia a part of the decision team when Shawn was trying for Worlds? There was no way Nastia was going to let Shawn go to worlds. Also, Shawn had to have known that Marta wanted Nastia at the Olympics in 2012. Why put herself out there to be defeated by Nastia again? Bet, though, Shawn didn’t know how badly Nastia was going to f-up at trials. Shawn would have showed her up, though, Kyla still would have beat them both. Shawn left with her legacy intact. Everyone’s last image of Nastia is a face plant.

  9. Exgymgurl Says:

EBee sat her Amanar in glasgow. After bars trails by like a tenth to Larissa. I think if shes solid on beam and floor she could still take it. Larissa was up by .533 after vault and EBees bars score was .433 higher than Larissa’s
