I am speechless at what I just witnessed so much so that I can’t even continue to process my thoughts.
About the only time I feel better about Gymnastics is after watching a Skating event. That is how bad tonight’s Men’s LP judging was tonight.
I love the Eurosport commentators. They can’t understand how the judges are cheating even after watching this sport for the last ten years. They really are entertaining.
Enjoy your gift Chan, I hope this pisses off the judges at the next Olympics and you get low balled.

I didn’t see it, but from what I’ve read he fell and made all kinds of errors…ridiculous. How did Takahashi skate?
March 16, 2013 at 2:10 am |
Dice had some issues but overall he was beautiful to watch. He fell once that I remember.
Chan fell twice, hit his first two quads (one in combination) and messed up every other jump. Doubling one.
It was a disaster and even he knew it and when the scores came up the eurosprts guys were like WTF, It was funny.
March 16, 2013 at 4:56 am
That’s just sad–I’ve never warmed to Chan’s style and I find it strange that he’s always scored so high. (The Vancouver Olympics being a prime example.) I miss the 90s. Even if Stojko had no artistry, at least he could stay on his feet.
March 17, 2013 at 7:02 pm
So what happens ifnYevgeny Plushenko comes in next year and spoils the splat fest?
March 16, 2013 at 6:38 pm |
Is he overscored because he does quads? Is that the only reason?
I refuse to watch. My blood is boiling enough reading this.
March 16, 2013 at 4:53 am |
Apparently figure skating is the only sport where it seems judges give more gifts than in gymnastics lol
March 16, 2013 at 6:15 am |
Remember when I said Mustafina stans are scary? Well they just got scarier. They now have gone about to posting personal pictures of her on their tumblrs. Aliya’s VK (I think that’s the Russian facebook) and her instagram are private. I think they sent her a request and she accepted or they went about it in other ways, becoming friends with her friends or whatever.
But even if she does accept your friend request her accounts are still PRIVATE. Now any normal sane human being would respect that fact and honor their idol’s wishes of their accounts being PRIVATE, ie not open to public viewing.
But these oh so gracious fans have posted some of her PRIVATE pictures all over the internet. And what’s worse is they don’t even think they did anything wrong!!! Their argument is that she posted it on the internet and nothing is private on the internet. Except when the person, you know, makes their account PRIVATE they should expect a reasonable amount of privacy.

im a little drunk so the thought of men’s figure skating makes me giggle right now. im not normally so. sexist.
poor musty will her crazed stalkers out there. frickin weirdos.
March 16, 2013 at 1:47 pm |
From one stupid poster at IG.
“Mustafinas Amanar in 2010 was much worse than every single American who does one today, yes even Aly Raisman (and Ross when she was landing them). It is not fab, and was so poor technically it likely caused her potentially career ending injury. ”
rofl.
March 16, 2013 at 7:06 pm |
LOL “likely.” Mr. Obvious here…
And, I beg to differ. It’s also unfair that (s)he’s comparing 2010 with “today” since it increasingly became popular over the quad when we all saw how lenient judging was for Amanars THANKS to 2010 WC.
March 16, 2013 at 7:35 pm |
Ross’s Amanar is fine when she is landing them. That tiny little kid has power
March 16, 2013 at 9:51 pm
Kyla ross is not tiny by height…..she probablly weighs less than Ohashi…..
March 16, 2013 at 10:09 pm
I thought Ross’ amanar was beautiful when she had more control of it. Coming in to 2012, she almost had too much power when she was vaulting it if I remember correctly.
It will be interesting to see if she vaults it again given her growth.
March 17, 2013 at 8:52 pm
Bulimar has grown taller since the olympics and its obvious she is having issues with her height…. they should have hung on to pitic
March 16, 2013 at 3:22 pm |
Dooes this mean that russia on the mens side only has one olympic spot next year? And does the US retain two spots? I think USFSA has gone so far down in the toilet that really its challenging for us to even field two decent mens or womens skaters. Id be worried about retaining two spots more than gaining three. Who cares if our skaters are bad they should not be competing.
March 16, 2013 at 6:46 pm |
Something positive related to Shawn. Her former high school orchestra is travelling to the UK because of her.
http://westdesmoines.patch.com/articles/orchestra-students-head-to-england-thanks-to-shawn-johnson
March 16, 2013 at 9:50 pm |
Yes she did do something positive there. Thank you Gymmom
Although can I snark that her encouraging people to stretch and do handstands while waiting for airplanes might catch the attention of TSA and not in a good way….
March 17, 2013 at 4:11 am
Yeah she didn’t think that through did she?
March 17, 2013 at 8:51 pm
Nope and we all know shes kind of a moron…. Sarah! calls her dimwit shawn… and has some very funny snarks on her and the taco pop ad she did with the hamm brothers in 2008
March 18, 2013 at 12:45 pm
“Ortega pops my taco.” can never be erased from memory. Guys I went to school with were even talking about it. I’m sure they didn’t know her otherwise.
March 16, 2013 at 7:10 pm |
Oh wow, maybe his coaches bribe the judges like Marta. =/
Lol i wonder if there’s an ice skating board with a bunch of unhappy fans complaining of overscoring like we do for Ohashi, Raisman, Gabby etc. (;
March 16, 2013 at 7:33 pm |
There is but they are elitist and you have to pay in order to discuss the competitions and I am not even kidding.
March 16, 2013 at 8:14 pm
That’s ridiculous. I have never heard of anything like that in my life. I refuse to even pay to WATCH gymnastics footage online let alone make comments, lol. But sure, I guess that almost ensures that you’re in a discussion with only the most dedicated fans…
March 16, 2013 at 9:55 pm
Or the people with money to throw away. I understand paying for coverage to watch but paying for the right to discuss the event? That is crazy.
Thank you Eurosport for giving it to us free:)
March 16, 2013 at 9:52 pm |
You can listen to Jenny Kirk and Aunt Joyce rip everyone to shreds on the skating lesson podcast…
March 16, 2013 at 9:56 pm
that takes to damn long.lol
March 16, 2013 at 11:08 pm |
FSUniverse. I go there. I understand some people may find it strange to pay to access certain forums but it actually works and is rather popular. I am not paying at the moment though lol. Maybe for Olympic year. Free message board is Golden Skate.
March 17, 2013 at 12:51 am
Its popular because they have no choice. I still call it crazy. To discuss a sport you have to pay? How do you spell dooziebats ?????
March 16, 2013 at 10:25 pm |
LRSY is the biggest splatfest ever. Kristian Thomas and Janine Berger injured vaulting. Plenty of routines with more than one fall, one had 3. Bulimar fell twice on beam but nailed floor. Afan was quite strong. Moreno crashed a vault, Downie had a disaster on bars, Ferrari sat her bars dismount…and that’s only some of the falls. Ferlito and Millousi were awesome on beam and Yang Hak Seon was incredible. Maybe not biggest splatfest but its worse than euros beam finals last year and worse than 2011 nationals..
March 17, 2013 at 12:42 am |
Looks like Aliya is training a double layout on floor. Check this out – http://24.media.tumblr.com/8c0d3fa7ddc55ed2da0207fbb6d1b62c/tumblr_mjq0ddHjY51rfh5aho1_400.gif
March 17, 2013 at 1:58 am |
So is Jo.
March 17, 2013 at 11:02 am
Jo has been able to do one since 2012, before the Olympics, I think?
March 17, 2013 at 4:50 pm
Good for Aliya – get rid of at least one tumbling pass with helicopter legs…
March 17, 2013 at 2:27 am |
OMG US ladies have two spots again. And Russia looks set to lose a spot from 3 back to 2.
March 17, 2013 at 2:35 am |
Only because Gold was overscored. I hate this sport, I have no clue why I watch it.
US has 3 spots you mean
March 17, 2013 at 2:46 am
Yes 3 spots now. I haven’t actually watched any of the figure skating but I see for some reason Kostner scored higher PCS than Mao. lame.
March 17, 2013 at 2:59 am
Hmm Kim wins with a monster score. Kim, Kostner and Asada the medalists.
March 17, 2013 at 5:51 am |
Eeeep, poor Bulimar. What an embarrassing and painful looking fall
March 17, 2013 at 5:54 am |
that is not the right link… sorry. youtube why do you hate me
March 17, 2013 at 5:54 am
ookay sorry for spam, for some reason when I copy paste the link it goes to a playlist…. Anyway, go to this channel and look at the video 00022, should you wish to
March 17, 2013 at 6:11 am
Scary fall indeed but sorry but I was being kinda pervy and seeing what was tanned and what wasn’t o.o
Sounds like there was quite a few falls in this competition berger’s sounded scary.

I think that is the correct link for Bulimar
March 17, 2013 at 7:20 pm |
Afan’s FX!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utmiOJIHv-E
Gorgeous <3
She forgot that she couldn't stand in a corner though lol
March 18, 2013 at 7:00 am |
i thought that too haha (about the corner thing).
but i really really love that floor routine.
March 18, 2013 at 3:29 pm |
Yay, thanks! It looked like on her third tumbling pass she didn’t do the pause-in-the-corner before; however it looked like she left out a forward element at the end of it. She added a front layout later on though (this is me guessing; it looked like that third pass something was accidentally left out). I am glad she’s still in it. She’s at least 24, no? I hope she stays on.
March 17, 2013 at 9:07 pm |
Completly off topic, but I’m running through archives of gym blogs today, and this is incredible

March 17, 2013 at 9:51 pm |
Replaced by Brenna Dowell? Really?
March 18, 2013 at 7:00 am |
omg i had totally forgotten about brenna!
March 17, 2013 at 9:52 pm |
Apparently Ohashi has a sore back… Are they actually resting people?
