I always liked Mary Lee Tracy. She seems like a great coach but I keep hearing more and more about how she is anything but the nice supportive coach we see on television.
There was a huge behind the scenes rumor about what went on with Cassie Whitcomb and how her elite career ended and the story about Alyssa Beckerman is well known throughout the gym community. At least the rumor is.
This should be interesting to watch.

It was wild how she basically showed up to that meet and quit/retired while MLT had no clue. Really odd.

Or not. Martha will stay around forever. And of course those 2004 trials were just crazy and the way they announced the girls was beyond creepy.

ok i just read “popped pills for stress-related ulcers”
i take tablets that are for similar reasons and believe me… if you have a stomach ulcer or acidity you NEED to take them. problem isn’t “popping pills” it’s the problem of why a teen is so severely stressed that they have stomach ulcers.

Oh yes, there were many stories about her UCLA days and Coach Val sent her packing. My impression was that Alyssa only did what she wanted to do when she wanted to do it….and at the time people kinda backed off MLT because it validated that Beckerman had some ongoing issues, IIRC.

Beckerman had ADHD or something similar to that and she could not be on her meds at the Olympics.

whether people believe those stories or not (I believe that they are at least partially true) it’s a fact that MLT is known for breaking gymnasts. Of course injuries are always a part of a sport like gymnastics and some time it’s nobody’s fault but seriously, she hasn’t kept an elite healthy since 1996.
Also, that part where she talks about Lexie and Amelia being the only ones who really want to make the olympic team and how willing she is to do everything it takes to get those two there… what about Alexis Beucler? I know she’s not the most talented out there but she’s an elite gymnast, shouldn’t MLT at least mention her?

I know that Ashley Priess has stated that she was in a lot of pain when she first came to Alabama, and that at the end of last season she was not in pain which is why she decided to go another year in NCAA. Coach Val makes it seem like Cassie Whitcomb wouldnt be walking if she kept doing gymnastics because her back was so messed up…… I wonder what will happen with Jetter? And I find it fascinating that MLT has a separate bars coach and choreographer, and was a cheer person that knew nothing about gymnastics. With no college degree. And she keeps a chiropractor right there… I wonder if thats how Dom met her husband…

Jordyn posted this on Instagram yesterday around the same time Aly posted pic of her & Gabby at the Globes. Maybe I’m over analyzing things or looking too deep into something However, it seems a bit telling in my mind. I mean seeing how McKayla was a judge for The Miss USA pageant, Aly & Gabby were both at the Golden Globes & Kyla Ross being named to the American Cup maybe she’s feeling a bit inferior or shafted in her career by seeing all the opportunities her fellow team members are having.
