I can’t stand mens gymnastics accept Kohei. His gym is just beautiful. We haven’t had a gymnast with his form and technique and artistry since, ever and he does it with the most difficulty ever done.
True enough about the difficulty. Gymnasts like Alexei Nemov, Vitaly Scherbo and Dmitri Bizolorchev are legendary and rightfully so, but Kohei’s difficulty really sets him apart.
Alexei Nemov? Would that be sexy Alexei? Mens gymnastics bores me bur what Ive seen of Kohei is amazing. Ive read a few of his interviews and he seems to be so unfazed by his talent. He knows he’s good but hes so whateve about it.
As well as having such clean gymnastics and showing Zou Kai up for the sloppy mess he is, he just seems so genuinely nice and humble. Case in point, for the competition above he changed his dismount to a triple back. The reason being that the inventor of the triple back was in the audience watching and Kohei wanted to honour him. Awwwww.
That is very sweet. I love how gymnasts from other Countries actually appreciate their history. The US gymnasts just pick the latest star or Mary lou when they have probably never even seen anything but her Olympics.
I like kohei, but what i really like is the fire he lights under other male gymnasts asses like leyva and boyy. He makes other gymnasts better and i havent seen that in wag for a while.
LOL Yes well I know technically she has like a National title and an American cup but in general what I meant was her legend is bigger than her actual self.
Lol I know I had to skip through most of it. They asked her first if she has retired which she confirmed although she says her body still feels fine.
Next they discussed the whole being denied to nationals. She claims it was out if her control that she did not want to retire just yet but Steve Penny called her up with a press release already announcing her retirement and that they “suggested” this was the best way. Chelsie said she wanted to be the one to decide when and at what time she would retire.
Regarding classics she was asked why she only did beam. Chelsie said she only did beam because she wanted to preserve her body for nationals. U was hoping she would say because Marta told me too. Chelsie claims no one told her that she needed a 14.00 min score to qualify to visas. She felt considering that she was looking good in podium training and practice that her petition should have been considered.
Kohei makes many of the girls look like stumbling, bumbling potatoes. Now that I like him he will probably get hampered with injuries. Hope to hell not.
Kohei is good if slightly overrated. I rather like Belyavskiy. I like Levya too but don’t talk, don’t show your lame shaved chest and stomach and get rid of your creepy step dad. Oh and please don’t be an arrogant git. Thanks.
Kohei overrated? Only if you like great gymnastics, form, difficulty, technique and artistry. 3 World AA titles and an Olympic AA title does not an overrated make.

Honestly I wish I could appreciate more but for whatever reason, just don’t find men’s gymnastics nearly as appealing as women’s. I don’t know why.

A very interesting interview by Chelsie memmel on gympodcast. The big question being was did usag force her to retire.
The interview is towards the end of the podcast.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Kohei continues to dominate for awhile as long as he stays healthy
