I really hope she does lots of upgrades and even if she doesn’t get her Amanar back since its SV is being lowered she might do just fine with her DTY since it usually scores well and if she upgrades everything else it would make up the difference I would like to see her floor at least a 6.0 SV, beam 6.5, bars 6.7-6.8 and if she can do the Amanar then great but I’d rather see a clean DTY than a scary Amanar

We will have to wait to see how the code changes effect her but all she needed on beam last quad was a harder dismount off beam and she would have been right in the gold medal hunt.

Perhaps she’ll perfect the Patterson she’s been training now that her growth spurt is cover. (Or was that just a rumour?)
August 25, 2012 at 11:23 pm
Agree, with a Patterson she’d be in the medal hunt easily.
Kudos to her for jumping right back into training. That takes determination and focus and I hope it pays off in Belgium.

I like how she’s planning for Rio too. I hate getting to really like these gymnasts and only having them around on the senior level for such a short time. I look forward to watching her compete over the next 4 years. I can really see her winning some AA titles with some upgrades.

Less than four months ago I would have thought it would have been kyla and jordyn doing the AA in London. Buy was I wrong! I love kyla. Hope she sticks around for Rio.

Yeah me too but they just never upgraded her beam dismount or floor I still don’t understand why they wouldn’t upgrade but it seems like Marta wanted Kyla to be a bars/beam specialist to give her favorites Aly and Gabby a chance at the AA and those two being the ones to compete in the AA was just iceing on the cake for Marta
August 26, 2012 at 1:45 am
icng or planned in advance
August 26, 2012 at 1:55 am
Exactly lol it wouldn’t surprise me if Marta pulled some strings with a certain judge(s) to make sure her favorites made it to the AA and breaking Jordyn at camp was probably just extra insurance I would still love to know what went on during the 08 camp it wouldn’t surprise me if Marta was extremely tough on Shawn and Chellsie and gave Nastia a free pass during camp

She won so many international meets as a junior that with a few upgrades I see her having similar success as a senior. I really hope she goes to Worlds this year and does well. With all the turn over we see in gymnastics the year after an Olympics, I think she has a huge shot at the World AA title, especially since she seems to be one of the few in the world to return to training immediately after London.
The one thing I would really hope to see from her is a floor routine with more choreo and different music…LOL. This one was alright, but she is capable of so much more.

i know, i really hate that she uses phantom of the opera. it’s too well known and dramatic for my taste! especially because i dont think she’s expressive enough on floor to match the music. fingers crossed for a more exciting floor routine!

Gotta love the Russians. Theres some trouble brewing over there with coaching staff and Russian federation. A whole lotta bickering, bitching, back stabbing, and accusations. They are still bitching about alexandrov being mustys only coach. Apparently she had another coach who quit and no one else wad qualified. What was surprising to me is that Russia is experiencing a shortage of qualified coaching staff.
Perhaps they should give Nastia a call.

They need to stop crying and fighting, and get some sportsmanship. I don’t think the dark cloud they’ve been training and competing under could be very rewarding, and definitely isn’t doing them many favours. Money is only worth so much, especially if these coaches can get offers basically anywhere else and potentially happier lives – in Europe, Canada, US… how many have left and are doing shorter stints, show their willingness to deviate from the Russian pride, unlike other generations.
August 26, 2012 at 4:48 pm
I feel like every article about Russia this Olympic year has been about crying in some form!
August 26, 2012 at 6:16 pm
While reading the article, I was laughing and shaking my head at the same time. You have retired Russian gymnast who can’t adjust to the real world because gymnastics is all they know so they go abroad for work and better opportunities. The ones bitching the most are the Rodionenkos. They better not push Alexandrov out or Russia is doomed.
August 27, 2012 at 12:43 am
Aerial I just read that anothe if Russias coached for I think Paseka is hauling ass back to Brazil to coach the national team for Rio. Good for him. id rather coach in beautiful Brazil than cold ass Russia any day. Do they realize that Alexandrov can get a higher paying job abroad and not have to deal with BS and drama.

Also, as I had mentioned, while one of the upsides of having a centralized team can be cohesiveness, one of the downsides is, like Saina said, being able to adjust to the real world. I don’t really worry about Musty and Vika (both have parents who have been in their shoes), but I am sure plenty of others have a rough time (unless your name is Ana Porgras). Seriously, that Romanian is chillin’ like a villian. In some wildflowers (look it up, their are pictures). Anyway, I hope Russia can get it together in time for Rio.

Saina do you have a link to any articles about the Russians crying (not from NBC)? I’d like to to take a look.

Mckaylas latest tweet is a bikini cleavage shot…… Nice for all the Pervy old men and no wonder she needs security
August 27, 2012 at 12:35 am |
Blame her mother. It doesn’t seem like she has much of a parent when it comes to the internet.
August 27, 2012 at 12:40 am
They better hope the body guard isnt a perv.
August 27, 2012 at 2:32 am
Not sure her Mom is much of a role model based on that photo fromthe US Weekly visit.
August 27, 2012 at 2:35 am
I am sure she loves her kid but she needs to reel her in
August 28, 2012 at 8:11 pm
Did anyone see what she wore to the PLL set? It was one of those shirts with the hole at the top of your cleavage. Seriously, I love me some Mckayla, but if I was her madre…her ass would be on watch. For realz. I don’t care how unimpressed she is.

How sad for this girl. Her parents don’t seem to set any boundaries for this child. Yes, she is a child (shouting to the computer screen in hopes McKayla’s mom hears me!) I often wonder what her future is going to be like. I often wonder if McKayla and Kyla are really best friends or if McKayla put it out there for more media attention. In my opinion they can’t be any more unlike each other.
August 27, 2012 at 12:25 pm |
kyla tweeted a photo with her home address on it. since deleted but she can’t take it back now. wonder how her parents will handle that!
i think that’s even worse than a teen bikini photo.
August 28, 2012 at 8:11 pm
Yep I was on twitter when it ahappened, frantically tweeting her team to text her about it. Boy was that scary.

Re: Kyla’s Royal Homecoming. I found some pictures on the internet and there were cheerleaders and a marching band from her high school. So looks like Jordan’s not the only one attending public school. Her principal said some pretty nice things about Kyla like she is an inspiration, and how the day before she stood in line for registration like everyone else. And that she takes honors and AP classes. Good for her. Brains and beauty.
